17. Gear of the Year
Season 1, Episode 17
Show notes
Bradley’s away this time, so it’s Dave, Aled and Keiran talking kit. We start with a catch-up. Aled and Keiran were at Fairford before the B-1s left. Keiran also tried motorsport at Prescott Hill Climb and started night shoot season with the Chipmunks at Old Warden and the C41 at Halfpenny Green. Dave went photographing deer at Bradgate Park with Danny Green.
Then we pick the biggest announcements of the year. Sony’s new 100-400mm GM and its lightweight 400mm and 600mm primes, the rumoured Nikon 120-300mm with a built-in teleconverter, and OM System unlocking 50fps on its non-pro lenses through firmware. We ask whether the big brands are chasing video creators at the expense of stills, and why Nikon still needs to fix getting images from camera to phone.
Aled explains how dedicated AI processing has changed autofocus on cameras like the Sony A1 II. Keiran, who works in software, gives his view on AI built apps taking on Adobe. We finish with our wish lists for next season, memory card prices and a hint of discussion around Black Friday deals.

16. End of Airshow Season Update
Season 1, Episode 16
Show notes
Dave, Keiran, Bradley and Aled are back for an end of airshow season update, and this one starts on a sombre note.
The team send their love to Mark Lynham from Avgeeks Assemble following the passing of his wife, Amanda. Dave and Aled then talk about Athens Flying Week, where they were at Tanagra when 338 Mira lost their F-4 Phantom and its crew.
From there, they catch up on their summer. The Hampshire Air Festival was cancelled days before the show, and Shuttleworth's Military Air Show was a biblical washout, saved by a 727 water drop and a Chinook finale through a rainbow. Little Gransden brought a Typhoon and a Children in Need teddy bear drop.
Keiran covers the Nimrod memorial livestream at Yorkshire Air Museum. Bradley gets in among the reenactors at the Victory Show, then asks whether Duxford has lost its magic. Aled and Dave share their last few weeks and future plans.
With the nights drawing in, night shoot season is on its way.

15. A Shuttleworthy Summer
Season 1, Episode 15
Show notes
Eleven Spitfires, a MiG-15 evening display, and a Shuttleworth show that somehow topped the Festival of Flight in some eyes. In this episode, Dave, Bradley, and Keiran unpack the Shuttleworth Summer Air Show, held on the 25th of July with a strong Spitfire anniversary theme running through the day.
The trio dig into the standout aircraft and how the display team tied every formation back to the Spitfire theme, and why Old Warden's backdrop keeps making familiar types feel new again.
There's also a look behind the photos: post-processing techniques including mask-based dodge and burn, Lightroom's AI Denoise for those high-ISO evening shots of the MiG, and a "Band of Brothers" preset built for reenactors. Before all that, the team also touch on the recent Comet mishap at Old Warden and Shuttleworth's plans to rebuild it, plus a rundown of the busy airshow season still to come, from the Shuttleworth Military Show through to Athens Flying Week.
Tune your ears in for eleven Spitfires, one gorgeous MiG, and a lot of hard-won editing tips.

14. Photographing Farnborough - A Different Kind of Airshow
Season 1, Episode 14
Show notes
This time on All The Gear Podcast, Aled steps into the hostseat, joined by Keiran Wilkinson and special guest Ed, a long-time aviationenthusiast, for a deep dive into Farnborough International Airshow.
Unlike the usual airshows the podcast normally covers,Farnborough is a different beast entirely: a biennial trade show with a historystretching back to 1948, where business deals matter as much as flyingdisplays. Ed shares decades of Farnborough experience, from the golden era of BBCcoverage to how the show has shrunk in scale over the years. Keiran recountshis first visit, including the surprise appeal of walking the exhibition halls, the challenge of packing a lighter camera kit, and getting to grips with theunusual display box layout.
The conversation covers the show's move toward electric andhybrid aviation (including a hybrid-engined Saab 340 and a striking eVTOLaircraft), standout displays from the A350-1000, the Global 8000 business jet,and the F-35 demo team, plus tips on kit choices, trade versus public dayaccess, and the best photo opportunities away from the flightline. Ed andKeiran also share their favourite shots from the show and look ahead to theirnext events, including Sweden's 100th anniversary airshow and Shuttleworth'sMilitary Air Show.
A great listen for anyone curious about a very differentkind of airshow, and how it shapes the way you approach aviation photography.

Microlight: Shuttleworth Festival of Flight Preview! Bonus
Show notes
Microlight: Shuttleworth Festival of Flight Preview
In the absence of RIAT this year, there is one air show that has Bradley and Keiran truly buzzing. This week on All The Gear, No Idea, the lads preview Shuttleworth's Festival of Flight, their mini-RIAT for 2026 and quite possibly the most anticipated event on the calendar.
From the world's only flying Bf 109E making the trip over from Germany, to the full Flying Bulls fleet lit up under the evening sun, there is no shortage of reasons to be excited. Bradley can't stop talking about the Avro Anson Mark 1 and its Second World War costumed crew, while Keiran has his sights set on Team Raven and a redemption arc with the RAF Typhoon in the evening light.
They also dig into what makes Shuttleworth such a special venue for aviation photography. The east-facing crowd line, the famous shed, the aircraft that feel like they're practically on top of you. Plus tips for first-timers, their personal shot lists, and a word on the new camping package.
Oh, and England play Panama on Saturday night. Apparently there might be a screen.
Whether you're heading to the show or just living vicariously, this one's essential listening for any avgeek.
