  1. ROCKER MEADOWS - Camera Operator

    Season 1, Episode 2

    Show notes

    SEASON 1 - EPISODE 002

Camera operator Rocker Meadows joins cinematographers Alejandro Lalinde and Brandon Cox for a conversation about finding your way into the camera department—and building a career once you’re there.

With behind-the-scenes stories from the Academy Award–winning Whiplash and HBO’s Euphoria and The Idol, Rocker traces his path from loading film magazines on a low-budget feature to pulling focus as a first AC, working with actors like Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons, and eventually operating A and B cameras on major productions.

He shares how each step taught him to anticipate what a scene needs and understand what a cinematographer or director is looking for. His experiences working with Damien Chazelle and Rob Reiner offer a closer look at the demands of precise camera movement, careful preparation, and being ready when the director wants to roll.

We also talk about making creative choices under pressure, knowing when to speak up and when to listen, on-set etiquette, joining the union, and how earning someone’s trust on one job can lead to the next opportunity.

Along the way, Rocker comes back to one lesson anyone entering the film industry should hear early—and even experienced filmmakers could use a reminder of. It has surprisingly little to do with knowing your way around a camera.

    SEASON 1 — EPISODE 001

Meet the filmmakers behind ANOTHER 12HR DAY.

In our debut episode, Alejandro Lalinde, Alex Ferrufino, and Brandon Cox turn the conversation on themselves—sharing their origin stories, the moments that ignited their passion for storytelling, and the choices, struggles, and opportunities that shaped the filmmakers they are today.

From Alex’s childhood memories of wandering the Universal lot, to Brandon watching Raiders of the Lost Ark again and again, to the different roads that eventually brought all three behind the camera, the conversation gets to the heart of the question behind this podcast:

Why do we keep doing it?

Film is notoriously difficult to break into—and even harder to build a life around. There is no single path, no blueprint, and rarely a straight line. What connects these stories is the perseverance, passion, sacrifice, and occasional insanity required to keep making moving pictures.

That’s the purpose of ANOTHER 12HR DAY: honest conversations with filmmakers about where they came from, the work they’re doing, what they’ve learned along the way, and what keeps them coming back for another day.

For filmmakers, aspiring creators, crew, students, and anyone who simply loves the movies and wants to know more about the people who make them.

This is where our story starts.

Hosted by Alejandro Lalinde, Alex Ferrufino & Brandon Cox.
