190 episodes, newest first

  1. Episode 171 - Troll 2 (1990)

    Season 7, Episode 171

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are finally paying the troll toll this week, when they cover TROLL 2 for their Halloween episode!

A fixture on virtually every list of the worst movies ever, this EXTREMELY low-budget horror flick contains more questionable decisions (starting with the title), and laughable performances than any movie the guys can remember.

It also doubles as anti-vegetarian propaganda - or at least it WOULD, if the special effects weren't so unbelievably cheesy.

Still, that's on brand with a holiday that offers tricks AND treats, so ring the doorbell and see what you get; this episode (featuring a soon-to-be-released beer from Aquanova Brewing) has plenty of meat on the bone!

    59 min
  2. Episode 170 - Popeye (1980)

    Season 7, Episode 170

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are setting sail for Sweethaven this week when they cover POPEYE!

As if a live action movie based on a nautical cartoon from the mid-1900s wasn't a strange enough choice for 1980, Paramount Pictures decided to go two steps further by making it a musical and having Robert Altman direct.

Throw in an overzealous production designer and rumors of heavy drug use on set and you've got the makings of a legendary Hollywood bomb. But does its curiosity factor make up for the sub-par songs, disturbing makeup effects, and barely comprehensible dialogue?

You'll need a lot more than a treasure map to find the answer; this episode (featuring a beer from the Rouge River Brewing Company) packs more punch than a sailor full of spinach!

    56 min
  3. Episode 169 - Out for Justice (1991)

    Season 7, Episode 169

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are visiting the old neighborhood this week when they cover OUT FOR JUSTICE!

This early Steven Seagal classic sees him play an Italian cop in New York City hunting down the man who killed his partner, in a role that would have been MUCH better with Sylvester Stallone in it.

That probably explains why the guys keep mistakenly calling Sly's name, or maybe it was the large number of drinks consumed before recording. Either way, a serious case of the giggles breaks out early and often in this one, as they try to navigate cultural stereotypes, funding the police, and another branch of Nolan's family tree.

The result is one of the silliest (and most fun) times you'll ever hear, so don't be a stranger; this episode (featuring a beer from The Exchange Brewery) is one you'll be happy to run into!

    52 min
  4. Episode 168 - Society (1989)

    Season 7, Episode 168

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are getting a taste of the good life this week, when they talk SOCIETY!

This late 80s horror/comedy delivers a scathing commentary on the upper class, as well as some of the most mind- (and body-) bending practical effects you'll ever see.

If you're thinking that that sounds like something that would be right up the guys' alley, you're right - especially when you factor in some fairly gratuitous sexual content.

So whether you're part of the social elite or just a common man, you'll want to hear all about it; this episode (featuring a beer from the All My Friends Beer Co.) is serving up entertainment on a silver platter!

    49 min
  5. Episode 167 - King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962)

    Season 7, Episode 167

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are caught between two titans this week, when they try to survive KING KONG VS. GODZILLA!

This meeting of legendary movie monsters won our Season Premiere poll in a landslide, handily dispatching Dino De Laurentiis' 1976 Kong remake. And after witnessing the hilariously low-budget practical effects, questionable American edit, and VERY regrettable casting, it's easy to see why.

That's before we even get to the King Kong suit, which might be the single worst piece of costuming in any movie featured on this podcast.

Still, with plenty of laughs to be had there's no need to run for cover; this episode (featuring a beer from our Season 7 sponsor Aquanova Brewing) is one battle where nobody loses!

    50 min
  6. BONUS Episode - Frogs (1972)

    Episode 18

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are answering nature's call this week when they come face to face with FROGS!

This early '70s horror movie asks the question: What happens when nature strikes back?

The answer, apparently, is NOT MUCH.

Still, with incredibly low-budget special effects, laughably overdone family drama, and surprisingly relevant social commentary, it's easy for the guys to hop around from one topic to another.

So come on down to the pond; this very special BONUS EPISODE (featuring a beer from the 100 Acre Brewing Co.) is one you'll be happy to wade into!

    52 min
  7. Episode 166 - Willy's Wonderland (2021)

    Season 6, Episode 166

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are getting back in the cage this week when they take a trip to WILLY'S WONDERLAND!

This hybrid horror/comedy saw its chance for a theatrical release thwarted by COVID, leaving Nicolas Cage fans to wonder what might have been. But that's just one of the many unanswered questions about this movie, and the guys spend an hour basically playing whack-a-mole trying to figure them all out.

Why doesn't Nic Cage's character talk? How come the murderous animatronics seem to go on break whenever he does? And how did the filmmakers possibly avoid getting sued by the guys who made Five Nights at Freddy's?

Finding out could be fun for the whole family, so get ready to cash in your tickets; this very special SEASON FINALE episode (featuring a beer from the Moersleutel Craft Brewery) is one prize you'll be happy to claim!

    1 hr
  8. Episode 165 - Double Down (2005)

    Season 6, Episode 165

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are crossing one off of their bad movie bucket list this week when they take a gamble on DOUBLE DOWN!

The guys have been waiting YEARS to cover a movie by infamous indie filmmaker Neil Breen, and with only one more episode to go until the Season 6 finale they're finally doing it.

Will it live up to the (reverse) hype? Is the Neil Breen drinking game a recipe for trouble? And how much stock footage can a movie possibly have?

Place your bets before you press play; what happens in this episode (featuring our second beer of the season from the Burdock Brewery) stays in this episode.

    59 min
  9. Episode 164 - The Apple (1980)

    Season 6, Episode 164

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are getting glittered up this week when they cut into THE APPLE!

This enormous early 80s flop asks the question: what if the Cannon Films guys made a glam rock musical about Adam and Eve set in the futuristic 1990s?

Somehow the answer is something stranger than you could possibly expect, and the guys have got themselves over a barrel trying to figure it out.

The end result is a juicy conversation that's definitely worth tasting; this episode (featuring a beer from the Bad Apple Brewing Company) is one you'll want to sink your teeth into!

    54 min
  10. Episode 163 - Cliffhanger (1993)

    Season 6, Episode 163

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are letting it all hang out this week when they cover CLIFFHANGER!

This notable 90s entry from Sylvester Stallone was one of the last big movies of the bodybuilder action boom, and it pretty much follows the exact formula you'd expect.

Still, between the hit-or-miss one-liners, extremely emotional closeups, and some VERY questionable casting, there's plenty for the guys to discuss - plus they're finally settling the chug bet they made back in February!

So get ready to gear up for a good time; this episode (featuring a beer from the Blue Mountain Brewing Co.) definitely won't leave you out in the cold.

    55 min
  11. Episode 162 - Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf (1985)

    Season 6, Episode 162

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are back with the pack this week, when they discuss HOWLING II: YOUR SISTER IS A WEREWOLF!

After covering the original back in Season 3 (which Nolan completely forgot), the guys were thrilled to take a look at what is widely considered one of the silliest sequels ever made.

Is this just a vampire movie that got re-purposed? How much did horror icon Christopher Lee get paid to show up? And is there such a thing as too much nudity?

You won't have to wait for the next full moon to find out; this episode (featuring a beer from Bellwoods Brewery) is full of surprises for the whole family.

    1 hr
  12. Episode 161 - Samurai Cop (1991)

    Season 6, Episode 161

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are coming face-to-face with a legend this week when they finally cover SAMURAI COP!

This gloriously awful piece of low-budget 90s action can be found on pretty much any list of the best bad movies of all time, and one watch is all it takes to realize why.

Between the terribly choreographed fight scenes, atrocious dialogue, and VERY questionable hat and wig choices, there's plenty to laugh at - and that's before you even mention the acting.

No wonder it was BY FAR the most requested movie the podcast has ever had; this episode (featuring a total cop-out of a beer) is a straight-to-video disaster that might go straight to your heart.

    59 min
  13. Episode 160 - Congo (1995)

    Season 6, Episode 160

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are going ape this week when they cover 1995's CONGO by special request!

After the wild, unbridled success of Jurassic Park, studios were practically tripping over themselves to adapt more Michael Crichton novels. But whatever hopes Paramount Pictures might have had for this one went up in a cloud of talking gorillas, diamond-powered lasers, and VERY questionable European accents.

Are there enough action scenes and old-timey adventure elements to keep this thing interesting, or at least as interesting as Nolan found it as a 13-year-old? Or is this all just a shameless cash grab/theme park ride masquerading as a blockbuster movie?

Much like the list city of Zinj, the answer may be hard to find, but either way this episode (featuring a beer from the Aquanova Brewing Company) is an expedition that's worth taking.

    1 hr
  14. Episode 159 - Mad Max (1979)

    Season 6, Episode 159

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are hitting the road this week when they cover MAD MAX by special request!

This dystopian tale from down under was a landmark moment for Australian filmmaking, but the combination of those two elements is forcing the guys to wonder about what constitutes typical Aussie fashion, whether or not child endangerment laws are different there, and if female saxophone players actually exist.

Throw in a young Mel Gibson and some effects of WILDLY varying quality and you've got a movie that might be hard to keep up with. Still, better start your engine; this episode (featuring a beer from the Full Beard Brewing Co.) is one you'll definitely want to chase down!

    58 min
  15. Episode 158 - Child's Play 3 (1991)

    Episode 158

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are putting away childhood things this week when they discuss CHILD'S PLAY 3!

This underbaked sequel was a complete rush job from start to finish, which probably explains the terrible dialogue, awful acting, and underwhelming special effects. But what was nearly impossible for the guys to understand is how this horror franchise became so beloved in the first place.

No wonder they spent more time talking about potato salad, anatomically correct dolls, and people living on the fringe than whatever the plot of this movie is supposed to be, all while crafting a better sequel.

Better leave your dolls on the shelf; as far as this episode (featuring a beer from Tusket Falls Brewing) is concerned, playtime's over!

    42 min
  16. Episode 157 - Hammer (1972)

    Episode 157

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are hitting the nail on the head this week when they cover HAMMER!

This early Blaxploitation movie about a boxer who gets mixed up with the mob features many of the elements that would become staples of the genre, from flashy fashion choices to bizarre nightclub performances to the funky soundtrack. But it also features some genuinely good acting and a surprisingly nuanced take on early 70s social politics.

You'd think that might cause the guys to take things more seriously than they normally do, but they still end up on tangents about soaking, hitting guys to death in the face, and what life was REALLY like in the 70s.

All that plus a beer chug bet makes for a lot to look forward to; this episode (featuring a beer from Mascot Brewery) is ready to step into the ring!

    55 min
  17. Episode 156 - Tromeo & Juliet (1996)

    Season 6, Episode 156

    Show notes

Love conquers all this week when Cooper and Nolan tell the story of TROMEO & JULIET!

This Troma-riffic take on The Bard's classic tale of star-crossed lovers features all the body piercing, kinky sex, and dismemberment you'd expect from a Lloyd Kaufman film, but what you might NOT expect is how close it actually is to the original.

Despite being absolutely gobsmacked by what they're seeing, the guys still manage to make it a Valentine's Day to remember, with arguments about dating vegetarians, the relationship between body hair and creepiness, and whether or not raisins belong in any other food.

No need to bring flowers or candy; this episode (featuring not one but TWO beers from the Shakespeare Brewing Company) is here and it's ready for love!

    58 min
  18. Episode 155 - Superman Returns (2006)

    Season 6, Episode 155

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are coming back down to Earth this week when they discuss SUPERMAN RETURNS by special request!

It was only 12 episodes ago that the guys covered a Superman movie, and let's just say a LOT has changed since then. A nearly two-decade gap means there's a new Man of Steel in town, along with more modern effects and a brand new story. You know, unless you count the parts where they re-hash Superman's origin AGAIN...

Was this able to re-establish the Superman movie franchise, or did the lengthy runtime and questionable performances stop this return from being triumphant? Look up in the sky to find out; this episode (featuring a beer from Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery) is ready to save the day!

    1 hr
  19. Episode 154 - Killer Condom (1996)

    Season 6, Episode 154

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are starting 2026 off with a bang this week, when they finally discuss KILLER CONDOM!

This virtually indescribable German horror/comedy is one that the guys have been wanting to cover for a while based purely on the title and subject matter, and it did NOT disappoint.

Between hilarious POV shots, absurd practical FX, and a never-ending parade of bizarre characters, costumes, and sets, you'd be forgiven for thinking this movie was all some crazy dream.

And maybe it was, but that doesn't mean it can't reveal something about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. So get your rubber ready; this episode (featuring a beer from the Tooth and Nail Brewing Company) is one you'll definitely want to sink your teeth into.

    55 min
  20. Episode 153 - Jingle All The Way (1996)

    Season 6, Episode 153

    Show notes

Cooper and Nolan are fighting to cross the finish line this week when they cover JINGLE ALL THE WAY!

After overindulging during their annual beer draft, it looked like the guys were going to need a Christmas miracle to get this episode out on time.

But they rallied, reconvened, and are ready to talk about the many unbelievable parts of this movie, all while handing out coal to Rita Wilson, Jim Belushi, and accomplished comedian Sinbad.

It might be a more sober time than anyone expected, but there's still plenty of festive fun to be had; this episode (featuring a whopping 12 beers from Tag Liquor Stores Craft Beer Advent Calendar) is one you'll be happy to find under the tree!
