Brewers defeat the Rays in the World Series, win their first championship in franchise history
Episode 623
Show notes
For the first time in franchise history, the Milwaukee Brewers are officially champions of baseball. After defeating the Tampa Bay Rays four games-to-none in this year’s Fall Classic, the Brew Crew raised the Commissioner’s Trophy in St. Petersburg on Wednesday night, sending Brewers Nation into pandemonium.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about the Brewers winning their first title in the 56-year history of the club, as well as recap the action from the series that saw arguably the best team in baseball this season come out on top. With manager Pat Murphy at the helm as the perfect manager for this club, Christian Yelich as the team’s first captain and a core of young players, could this be the start of long-term success in Milwaukee?
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan discuss some of the other narratives around the World Series, including the Brewers making their first trip since 1982, the absence of longtime announcer Bob Uecker from the broadcast and what the future holds for this club amid a murky outlook for baseball due to CBA negotiations. They then wrap up the season for the Rays and discuss why this season was a success despite the team falling just short of the ultimate goal.

Brewers come back again to win Game 2, Rays down 0–2 in the World Series going back to the Trop
Episode 622
Show notes
The Milwaukee Brewers have shown resilience throughout the postseason, making comeback victories a normal occurrence. On Saturday night, they did it again, just as they did against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, erasing a 4–0 deficit, hanging on to win the game and taking a two-games-to-none lead in the World Series.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap the Brewers’ comeback win in Milwaukee, which leaves them just two wins away from capturing their first-ever World Series championship. Despite Logan Henderson’s early-game struggles, the Brew Crew pitching staff did it again, with Aaron Ashby delivering heroics to help shut the door in the ninth inning, as well as Sal Frelick playing hero with the bat.
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan preview Game 3, which is set to take place at Tropicana Field on Monday night, and discuss whether former Brewer Freddy Peralta can pitch the Tampa Bay Rays back into the series in a near-must-win game. They also try to figure out how many fans from Milwaukee will make the trip this week to possibly witness history in St. Petersburg.

Brewers hold on to win World Series Game 1, Rays turn to Drew Rasmussen for Game 2
Episode 621
Show notes
The 122nd edition of the World Series has kicked off, and the Milwaukee Brewers have won their first game in the Fall Classic since 1984. On the backs of their already stellar pitching staff, they take a 1-0 lead against the Tampa Bay Rays, but with Game 2 set for Saturday night, this series could quickly flip on a dime.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap all the action from Game 1, which saw flame-throwing ace Jacob Misiorowski make his first-ever World Series start and hold the Rays' bats to just one run before the bullpen took over. They then look at the wacky top of the ninth, in which a replay review overturned a game-ending double play and cut the Brewers' lead to one, but the Brewers still had enough to hang on and secure the victory.
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan preview Game 2 of the series, that will see the Rays send their ace, Drew Rasmussen, to the mound to try to even things up at one game apiece before the series shifts to St. Petersburg. Will William Contreras continue to have a major impact on this series, or will Junior Caminero and a tough Rays lineup find a way to thump their way to a victory?

Rays are one win away from World Series, Brewers’ secret weapon & how things went wrong for Dodgers
Episode 619
Show notes
The Tampa Bay Rays have been to the World Series twice in their franchise history, and although neither appearance resulted in a championship, they’re now just one win away from getting back to the Fall Classic for the first time since 2020 following their ALCS Game 5 win. However, the Cleveland Guardians aren’t ready to give up just yet.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz is joined by FOX Sports MLB writer Deesha Thosar as they recap the action from ALCS Games 4 and 5, which put the Rays in the driver’s seat for the rest of the series. They discuss how the manager has built a stronger bond with the club, which is still searching for its first-ever World Series title. Brewers win 1st pennant since 1982, Dodgers’ three-peat dream swept away & Guardians lead ALCS 2-1
Episode 618
Show notes
The Milwaukee Brewers are going to the World Series for the first time since 1982, and they did it in revenge fashion. They also discuss where things have gone wrong for the Dodgers, whether Tarik Skubal will return and what the offseason could hold for Shohei Ohtani.
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan take a look at the current situation in the ALCS, where the Cleveland Guardians lead the Tampa Bay Rays two games to one following the postseason heroics of Petey Halpin. The Los Angeles Dodgers have found themselves in a sticky situation that they haven’t faced during their current championship run. Now down two games to none against the Milwaukee Brewers, they are looking for a spark to get them back in the series. Brewers take Game 1 from Dodgers, Rays-Guardians ALCS preview & White Sox season recap
Episode 616
Show notes
The NLCS rematch between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers kicked off on Monday night at American Family Field, and unlike last year’s showdown, the Brew Crew made sure they would not be swept this time around. In what was an exciting pitching duel, the Brewers won Game 1 and immediately took a 1-0 series advantage.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap Monday night’s action, which saw Tarik Skubal and Jacob Misiorowski go head-to-head with offense at a premium. Despite The Miz not going deep in the game, it was the Brewers’ bullpen that shut down the defending back-to-back World Series champs and gave Milwaukee the edge. However, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto lurking for Game 2, will the Dodgers be able to tie the series before returning to Los Angeles?
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan recap Game 5 of the ALDS, which saw the Cleveland Guardians advance to the next round over the Chicago White Sox after what was an unexpectedly fun season from the Pope’s team. The NLCS is set to start this weekend, and it will be a familiar matchup, as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers are set for round two, with a trip to the World Series on the line. Rays sweep Yankees out of ALDS, Dodgers & Brewers advance to NLCS, Guardians-White Sox goes to Game 4
Episode 614
Show notes
On Wednesday, the baseball postseason picture got a little clearer when three teams advanced to their respective League Championship Series. With the Tampa Bay Rays sweeping the New York Yankees, as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers taking care of business, there’s now one spot left in the final four.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman recap all the League Division Series action so far, including the Rays taking down their division rival Yankees in The Bronx. After yet another disappointing finish and their World Series drought hitting 17 years now, do the Yankees need a major change to get them over the hump?
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan take a look at how the Dodgers were able to overcome a rough Game 2 against the Atlanta Braves and why their starting pitching, clearly the strength of this team, is what makes them the favorites to win the World Series. They then break down an exciting Game 4 between the Brewers and San Diego Padres that saw Garrett Mitchell make an impact at the plate and on the field, helping put the Brew Crew back in the NLCS for a date with the Dodgers. The guys close the show by catching us up on where things stand between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox as they play a big Game 4 in the Windy City to see if the ALDS will go the distance.

With divisional foes facing off against each other, as well as past playoff rematches, the best-of-three series are going to be a doozy.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman take a look at all four Wild Card matchups, including the New York Yankees facing off with their bitter rival, the Boston Red Sox, in the Bronx for the second consecutive year. With the Yankees opting to start Game 1 with their ace, Cam Schlittler, on the mound, will that prove to be a successful strategy in getting the Yankees to the ALDS, or will the Red Sox offense come alive and pull off the upset?
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan break down the Philadelphia Phillies versus Atlanta Braves matchup, which sees the two NL East rivals do battle in Atlanta. They then preview the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres matchup, which will take place this time at Petco Park, as well as try to make sense of what a Houston Astros-Chicago White Sox series will look like. The guys close the show by highlighting Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer's final starts in their potential Hall of Fame careers.

Episode 609
Show notes
The final weekend of the regular season is upon us, and the postseason picture is just about set. However, there are still a couple of moving pieces that need to be determined before we can officially set sail onto the best time of the year. With the NL Wild Card, AL Central and AL West all up for grabs, we’re in for an exciting regular-season finale across the league.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman paint the picture for the series coming up, including whether the Arizona Diamondbacks can find a way into the NL Wild Card picture despite their odds being long, whether the Chicago White Sox can find a way to get back on top in the Central and who will come away with the AL West crown. Can the Houston Astros hang on and stave off the Texas Rangers to set up a matchup with the White Sox in the Wild Card round?
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan take a look at all the happenings around the league, including Max Scherzer trying to one-up Justin Verlander and pass him in career strikeouts before Verlander’s final career start, as well as some miscommunication issues between Aaron Judge, Aaron Boone and the New York Yankees. They also highlight a couple of managers who managed to parlay their interim titles into full-time positions. They then make their picks for this week’s edition of The Good, The Bad & The Uggla.

Where things stand in the final week of the season + one question for every postseason team
Episode 608
Show notes
As the 2026 MLB regular season enters its final week of games, there is still so much that needs to be decided before the postseason can officially begin. Between who will win the American League Central, which team will be the third and final AL Wild Card participant, and which team from Texas will win the AL West, there are quite a few situations we can’t wait to see how they turn out. And that’s only in the American League!
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman take a look at the current postseason picture and try to make sense of the AL scene, as well as figure out how things will play out in the National League Wild Card situation. Will the Arizona Diamondbacks figure out a way to slither in, or will the Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies deny their entry into the postseason dance?
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan ask one big question for every postseason team that has stamped its ticket to the playoffs, including how healthy the Los Angeles Dodgers are, whether we’ll see Aaron Judge play another game this season and how hot Ronald Acuña Jr. can stay for the Atlanta Braves. They then go Around the League to discuss the Detroit Tigers’ new ballpark name, Alex Bregman’s brutal face injury and the San Francisco Giants’ bad luck with their roster this season.

This week's Good, Bad, Uggla covers a little bit of everything: from the Chicago Cubs team bonding at the race track, to Ichiro’s 127-pitch shutout against high schoolers, to a bizarre saga involving a Brewers owner and some sand.

Pete Alonso Gets Revenge on the Mets, Freddie Freeman Tries Something New & Junior Caminero Eyes the MVP
Episode 606
Show notes
Pete Alonso returned to his old digs on Monday night in Queens, greeted by New York Mets fans giving a rousing ovation to show their appreciation for his time with the team. On Tuesday night, though, he paid it back to the fans by hitting his 300th career home run in the top of the ninth to tie the game. And the fans continued to cheer.
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the warm welcome home that the Polar Bear received at Citi Field for his first visit since joining the Baltimore Orioles. They get into how Alonso nailed the moment, despite Mets players not being too thrilled with how fans responded to his heroics, as well as how David Stearns has failed the club so far in his tenure, which has given fans of the Amazin's a sour taste in their mouths.
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan talk about the two series they attended this week, including the Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds, where Freddie Freeman is reinventing himself and finding success. They also talk about the Cleveland Guardians taking two of three games from the Chicago White Sox and further improving their chances of possibly leapfrogging into first place in the AL Central. The guys close the show out by looking at Junior Caminero's MVP odds, Elly De La Cruz's monster home run and the Milwaukee Brewers winning the NL Central.

Three postseason spots up for grabs in the AL, Cam Schlittler’s MVP case & current state of NL standings
Episode 605
Show notes
With two weeks left in the regular season, the postseason picture is starting to become a little clearer. However, in the American League, the picture is still a little murky, with multiple teams still in the mix in the division and Wild Card races. As five teams look to finish the season strong, which two will be the ones to get the coveted trip to the October dance?
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman take a look at the current state of the MLB postseason picture in the American and National Leagues. Will the Chicago White Sox be able to close out the AL Central, or will the Cleveland Guardians swoop in and take it from them? Can the Toronto Blue Jays, with a strong finish, find a way to make it four AL East teams in the postseason as they sit one game back in the Wild Card?
Later in the show, Jake and Jordan examine the case for New York Yankees ace Cam Schlittler to win the AL Cy Young and AL MVP. After Yankees captain Aaron Judge made a comment about pitchers having their own award, is the MVP an award that pitchers should win? Also, can Cam hold off other strong candidates like the Houston Astros’ Yordan Alvarez and the Tampa Bay Rays’ Junior Caminero?
