  2. DeForest Buckner Returns to the 49ers in Colts Trade — Quick Hit | We Want Winners

    Show notes

In this Quick Hit episode of We Want Winners, Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales react to the 49ers trading for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, reuniting him with the team that drafted him, in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

It's a shorter, single-topic episode: Rod breaks down who Buckner is today, a steady, productive interior lineman, versus the three-time Pro Bowl, All-Pro force he was during San Francisco's run to Super Bowl LIV. Garrett explains why fans will embrace him instantly, since the team let him walk once before and the Niners have never fully replaced him in the years since. They close by looking at what other moves could still be coming and hoping San Francisco adds a pass rusher before the trade deadline.

    Show notes

On the Giants side, they talk through a historically bad 97-loss season and what Buster Posey and the Giants can do to compete again. They also discuss the Brewers-Rays World Series and watching with no dog in the race, and finish with the impending MLB lockout.

  4. 49ers' Unbeaten Run Ends: Falcons Upset San Francisco 29-20 | We Want Winners

    Show notes

In this episode of We Want Winners, Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales react to Atlanta ending San Francisco's undefeated season, 29-20, in Week 7.

Turnovers were the story: the 49ers committed four of them, including two Brock Purdy interceptions — one in the red zone, and a late third-down pick by rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels that sealed the game — plus lost fumbles by Kaelon Black and George Kittle. Seven penalties for 55 yards didn't help, including four that extended an Atlanta scoring drive. Michael Penix Jr. threw three touchdowns for the Falcons, Kyle Pitts caught the 300th reception of his career, and Drake London scored despite a concussion evaluation. Christian McCaffrey left briefly with a thigh injury before returning to finish with a touchdown and over 100 yards from scrimmage, a day that also made him one of only two players in NFL history with 70+ rushing and 30+ receiving touchdowns. San Francisco was already without Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, and Nick Bosa. Rod and Garrett break down how the streak ended at 6-1 and look ahead to the bye week before the 49ers return November 8 against the Raiders.

  5. Are the 49ers the Best Team in the NFL? 49ers Beat Commanders 23-17 to Go 6-0 | We Want Winners

    Show notes

In this episode of We Want Winners, Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales recap a 23-17 Monday Night Football win over the Washington Commanders that pushed San Francisco to 6-0.

San Francisco jumped out to a 20-3 halftime lead behind a George Kittle touchdown catch and two short Christian McCaffrey rushing scores, then held on as Washington clawed back in the second half. Malik Mustapha's fourth-down pass breakup and a late sack sealed the win. Brock Purdy also took over the NFL's all-time career passer rating lead.

Since the team wasn't able to go live right after the game, Rod and Garrett also cover what's come out since: Mike Evans left in the second quarter with an Achilles injury that's since been described as banged up but not torn, meaning he'll miss time but avoided the worst-case outcome. They close with a look ahead to next week's game against the Falcons.

They also look at the NFL and wonder if the 49ers really are the best team in the NFL.

  6. Colin Kaepernick’s ‘The Perilous Fight’ Breakdown + 49ers Midweek News | We Want Winners

    Show notes

In this episode of We Want Winners, Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales run through the latest 49ers news before diving into the main event.

On the news side: Dre Greenlaw's one-game suspension (and denied appeal) for headbutting Ernest Jones IV, the state of the wide receiver room with Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, and Christian Kirk all banged up, Kyle Shanahan's comments on what Raheem Morris has changed about the defense, which young players are stepping into bigger roles, and the latest from Thursday's practice report ahead of Monday night's game against Washington.

Then it's the main event: Rod and Garrett dig into Colin Kaepernick's new memoir, "The Perilous Fight," out now from Legacy Lit — his first book since kneeling during the anthem a decade ago.

  7. 49ers Outlast Seahawks 32-29 to Go 5-0: Purdy to Evans in Crunch Time | We Want Winners

    Show notes

In this episode of We Want Winners, Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales break down a 32-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks that pushed San Francisco to 5-0.

They dig into just how big this one felt for a Week 5 game, a contest where the defenses completely outplayed the offenses most of the way. Brock Purdy struggled for much of the night before coming alive late, and Rod and Garrett debate Kyle Shanahan's insistence on throwing the ball over leaning on the run. They close by looking ahead to next Monday night's game against Washington.

  8. Does Buster Posey Have Any Answers for the Giants? | Thompson 2 Clark

    Show notes

In this episode of Thompson 2 Clark, Brad Evans and Garrett Gonzales dig into Buster Posey's end-of-season press conference after a 97-loss season, where Posey took the blame for the bullpen, said fixing it is where the offseason starts, and acknowledged the Giants don't "have blinders on" about the wins and losses still not being there — so does he actually have any answers? They also guess whether the Giants will make any coaching changes, with no staff moves announced but a couple of changes possible, and close with a breakdown of the MLB Division Series matchups: Braves-Dodgers, Padres-Brewers, White Sox-Guardians and Yankees-Rays.

  9. 49ers Improve to 4-0: Kittle's Late TD Helps Beat Broncos 24-14 | We Want Winners

    Show notes

Description: In this episode of We Want Winners, Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales break down a 24-14 win over the Denver Broncos that pushed San Francisco to 4-0. It was a low-scoring, defensive battle most of the way, until a fumble recovery flipped the field and set up a go-ahead touchdown. Christian McCaffrey added a score of his own, and after Denver clawed back within three, George Kittle sealed it with a 56-yard screen-pass touchdown.

Rod and Garrett also spotlight Dre Greenlaw, who played with real emotion in his return, and Mike Evans, who battled through a rib injury to stay on the field, before looking ahead to next week's matchup against the Seahawks.

  10. Mike Krukow's Emotional Farewell & Our 2026 MLB Wild Card Predictions | Thompson 2 Clark

    Show notes

In this episode of Thompson 2 Clark, Brad Evans and Garrett Gonzales say goodbye to Mike Krukow, who called his final game as a Giants broadcaster on Sunday after 36 years alongside Duane Kuiper, capped by an emotional on-field sendoff and a portwalk plaque honoring their final broadcast together. Brad and Garrett reflect on what Kruk and Kuip meant to them in a season of genuinely awful baseball, then debut a brand-new segment that'll be a permanent part of the show next year — "Atta Babe/Grab Some Pine, Meat," built around two of Krukow's signature calls. They also process the sting of dropping all three games of the season-ending series to the Dodgers at home, and close with a look ahead at this week's Wild Card Series matchups around the league.

  12. Camilo Doval Returns to the Giants, Marcelo Mayer & Bo Davidson Debut Amid Blade Tidwell's Tommy John News | Thompson 2 Clark

    Show notes

In this episode of Thompson 2 Clark, Brad Evans and Garrett Gonzales start with a surprise reunion — the Giants claimed closer Camilo Doval off waivers from the Pirates, two days after Pittsburgh designated him for assignment, with Blade Tidwell moving to the 60-day IL in the corresponding move. They also welcome some fresh faces to the big leagues — Marcelo Mayer made his organizational debut as the DH and Bo Davidson got his first big-league callup in right field, both activated Monday as Bryce Eldridge and Jung Hoo Lee's seasons appear to be over. They dig into the Giants' brutal run of arm injuries, with Tidwell diagnosed with a high-grade UCL sprain and recommended for Tommy John surgery — the fourth Giants starter lost to elbow reconstruction this year, more than any other team in baseball. They close with their thoughts on the MLB playoff races as the regular season winds down, from the Rays and Brewers already clinched to the scramble for the final NL wild card spots.

  14. Giants Hold Off Cardinals 6-5, Devers Done for the Season | Thompson 2 Clark Postgame

    Show notes

The Giants held off the Cardinals 6-5 at Busch Stadium to close out the series. In this Postgame Live edition of Thompson 2 Clark — the San Francisco Giants podcast on BSPN — Brad Evans and Garrett Gonzales recap the win and take stock of a tough season through some individual storylines.

Rafael Devers' 2026 season is over — a core muscle injury has landed him on the 60-day IL, and he's set to meet with Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia about a possible procedure. He still finishes the year with a team-leading 37 home runs and 98 RBI and is squarely in the Willie Mac Award conversation. Logan Webb has had the roughest season of his career — a 4.21 ERA over 149.2 innings — and will miss the Cy Young ballot for the first time in five years. And Bryce Eldridge is quietly putting together a genuinely impressive rookie campaign, hitting .272 with 17 home runs.

Brad and Garrett break down what it all means as the Giants close out the season and start looking toward 2027.

  15. 49ers Rout Rams 27-7 in Australia: Purdy Bounces Back | We Want Winners

    Show notes

In this episode of We Want Winners, Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales break down the 49ers' 27-7 win over the Rams in the NFL's first regular-season game in Australia.

They start with Brock Purdy, who leaned on a short, high-percentage passing game early (25 of 34 for 205 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception) before the offense broke the game open in the second half. Rod and Garrett dig into the one-two punch of Christian McCaffrey (10 carries, 68 yards) and Kaelon Black in the run game, plus how new addition Mike Evans (6 catches, 49 yards, a touchdown) and a healthy Deebo Samuel — who scored on San Francisco's 99-yard fourth-quarter drive — fit together in the passing attack.

On defense, they discuss how getting Nick Bosa (4 tackles, 2 for loss) and Fred Warner (11 tackles, a forced fumble) back in the lineup changed the entire look of the unit, including the goal-line stand that flipped momentum in San Francisco's favor.

They also cover the different travel approaches the 49ers and Rams took to get to Melbourne, and look ahead to the 49ers' next three games.

  19. Giants Fall 5-2 to Pirates: Devers' Power Surge & Braves Sweep | Thompson 2 Clark Postgame

    Show notes

In this Postgame edition of Thompson 2 Clark, Brad Evans and Garrett Gonzales break down today's series finale loss to the Pirates — a 5-2 defeat with five walks from Blade Tidwell, as the Giants dropped the set 1-2 after a wild 10-inning win in Game 2 keyed by Rafael Devers' 32nd homer. Zooming out, it's still been a strong week for San Francisco, coming off a three-game sweep of the Braves at Truist Park that snapped Atlanta's seven-game winning streak.
