Jaylen not letting go, Scal steps in, and Houston is a problem
Show notes
In this episode, Bob Ryan, Gary Tanguay, and Jeff Goodman recap the Celtics’ start to the season. They discuss what’s gone well so far, including Jayson Tatum’s hot start as he’s averaging 28 ppg so far. But is there too much on his shoulders? Do the Celtics need a big game from Tatum every night to win? The guys break down whether the way the Celtics are using him is sustainable. Next, they get into the latest in the saga involving Tatum and Jaylen Brown, including the shots fired from the Celtics’ broadcasters about Brown. Is Jayson Tatum innocent in all this? Why does Jaylen Brown feel the need to go after him? Jeff defends Tatum and calls out Brown’s instigating, which he says stems from Brown’s constant feeling of being disrespected. The guys wrap up with a look around the league, including LeBron’s start to life in Philadelphia, Houston’s impressive start, and more. Then Jeff says farewell to the guys as he won’t be a part of the show on a regular basis going forward. Chris Mannix on Why Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum Beef is REAL
Show notes
On this episode of the Bob Ryan and Jeff Goodman NBA Podcast, Bob Ryan and Gary Tanguay are joined by SI’s Chris Mannix.
The guys discuss the Celtics early start to the season and what to make of it. Bob asks Chris if the Celtics potential got a future star on Hugo Gonzalez after he had a big game last night.
The guys also discuss the drama between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and Mannix explains why the beef between this two is real.
“I think there's genuine beef there between Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum…Jayson kind of making that video where he said like, I didn't know what was happening…I think that Jaylen Brown A doesn't really believe that, obviously, and B believes that Tatum could have put himself in front of it. If Tatum wanted this team kept together, a star, the caliber of Tatum could have done that. And I think that's, well, at least specifically when it comes to Tatum, I think that's what bugs Jalen Brown the most.”
They also take a look at the latest happening around the NBA from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the 76ers and even the Knicks who have fallen to an 0-3 start.
