Broken Hologram

Arts, Society & Culture

Broken Hologram is a podcast about the glorious art of failure, telling the stories of the art and artists that critics unfairly dismissed, audiences ignored and history forgot. Each season is an audio documentary built from original interviews, rare archival audio and a fully original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Sila Shaman. Created and hosted by bestselling novelist and award-winning journalist Adam Langer.

Season One, “The 4 Dimensions of Buck White,” tells the story of Muhammad Ali’s brief and improbable 1969 run on Broadway in “Buck White,” a musical by Oscar Brown Jr. that closed in less than a week. Over four episodes, it follows the fascinating, unpredictable journeys of a ballplayer turned playwright, a Renaissance man from Chicago’s South Side and the heavyweight champion of the world. Was it a tragedy or a farce? Or maybe, just maybe, a success story after all?
