106: What sends passengers’ blood pressure through the roof
Episode 106
Show notes
This week on Cabin Pressure with Shawn & G, we turn the tables and talk about what sends passengers’ blood pressure through the roof. From Newark’s massive ATC disruption and flight diversions to checked bags, seat changes, broken Wi-Fi, delays, and all the little things that can turn an ordinary trip into a stressful one, we look at air travel from the passenger’s side.
Shawn also shares stories from his first trip to Korea, including the food, culture, and a Korean-speaking flight attendant whose Korean was a little rusty.
Then we go Around the Globe with a dramatic turbulence video that shows exactly why we’re always telling you to keep your seatbelt fastened, followed by an incredible 101-year-old veteran performing “Taps” on a harmonica.
Another week of airline chaos, crew stories, travel lessons, and plenty of laughs with Cabin Pressure with Shawn & G.

105: Airline Life Secrets: What Really Happens at the Gate
Episode 105
Show notes
What raises a flight attendant’s blood pressure before the airplane even leaves the gate? This week on Cabin Pressure with Shawn & G, we talk about the boarding habits that drive crews crazy — blocked aisles, misplaced bags, last-minute lavatory runs, confused seat assignments, and passengers who suddenly need everything just as the door is about to close.
Then we go Around the Globe with some unbelievable aviation stories, including a passenger removing her clothes on an American Airlines flight, a violent Qatar Airways incident, and an emergency descent of roughly 27,000 feet in ten minutes that sent oxygen masks dropping.
We also share a great video from a newer flight attendant that leads to some advice from the “old dogs”: stick with it, learn from each other, and remember that both new and experienced crew members have something to teach.
Finally, we talk about staying positive when travel gets stressful, because delays, cancellations, difficult passengers, and unexpected changes are all part of the journey.
Another week of airline stories, crew life, laughs, and a little perspective — only on Cabin Pressure with Shawn & G.
And remember:
Good days give you happiness. Bad days give you experience. The worst days give you lessons. And the best days give you memories.

104: The Most Ridiculous Aviation Would You Rather Questions
Episode 104
Show notes
After years as a flight attendant and cabin crew, Shawn and G have learned one thing about aviation: sometimes there is no good choice… only the least terrible one.
In this episode of Cabin Pressure with Shawn & G, we play a round of aviation “Would You Rather?” and get into the real-life chaos of cabin crew life. Would you rather work a 14-hour flight with no coffee maker or a four-hour flight with a screaming baby? Deal with nonstop call-button dings or a passenger who will not stop talking? Handle turbulence or survive a wild crew van ride? And the big one — would you rather work with the most annoying passenger ever or a flight attendant you cannot stand?
This podcast brings the usual mix of travel, humor, comedy, behind-the-scenes travel secrets, and useful travel tips from inside the airline world. We also talk about airport carpet, missed commutes, Dulles chaos, G turning 60, colonoscopy reminders, ear block on airplanes, and why experienced flight attendants always prep the night before.
Then we go Around the Globe with a disruptive passenger who was duct taped and zip tied during a flight, new flight data from a fatal cargo plane crash at MIA, the Blue Angels in Cleveland and Pensacola, a man who may have been personally selected by Zeus, a feel-good video that should make you smile, and an ugly pants exchange at the airport.
If you love flight attendant stories, cabin crew humor, aviation talk, travel comedy, passenger behavior, crew life, and real conversations from people who have lived this job for decades, this episode is for you.

Episode 103
Show notes
Flight attendants come in all shapes, sizes, ages, attitudes, and experience levels — and in this episode of Cabin Pressure with Shawn & G, we are talking about the difference between the brand-new flight attendant and the seasoned cabin crew dinosaur who has already seen everything twice.
This aviation podcast episode dives into real cabin crew life, from boarding smiles and hidden bags under seats to pets in carriers, loose cats, turbulence briefings, uniform choices, hotel room realities, crew rest temperature wars, airplane shoes, and the quiet wisdom that only comes from years of working in the sky.
Shawn and G bring the usual mix of travel humor, aviation comedy, real flight attendant stories, and behind-the-scenes travel secrets from the cabin. We talk about what new hires worry about, what veteran crew members have learned to let go, why passengers should listen the first time, and how every flight teaches you something about people, patience, and survival at 35,000 feet.
We also get into listener shoutouts from around the world, travel benefits, old airplanes, new aircraft designs, retirement planning, Boeing documentaries, airport stories, and some very questionable videos in Around the Globe.
If you love travel tips, airline stories, cabin crew humor, flight attendant comedy, aviation talk, and real conversations about the chaos of modern travel, this episode is for you.

101: Why Some Flight Attendants Are Just Plane Rude
Episode 101
Show notes
Are some flight attendants just plane rude… or are passengers missing what actually happens before that “attitude” shows up?
In this episode of Cabin Pressure with Shawn & G, we get into the real reason flight attendants sometimes come across short, tired, or fed up. From passengers ignoring a simple “good morning” during boarding to sneaking into exit rows, refusing safety instructions, arguing over overhead bin space, and getting mad when the answer is “no,” this one is all about perspective.
Shawn and G break down the difference between a bad attitude and a crew member simply doing the job, enforcing rules they did not create, and trying to keep the flight moving safely. We also talk about why flight attendants sometimes need a minute in the galley, why “why aren’t you smiling?” is not the compliment some people think it is, and why shared overhead bin space seems to create more drama than it should.
Then the episode takes the usual Cabin Pressure turn into burnt toast on vacation, commuting nightmares, missed flights, Yorkie chaos at 3 a.m., lawn-clipping revenge, intermittent fasting gone wrong, and one road-rage apology that actually restores a little faith in humanity.
We close with Around the Globe stories, including airlines charging for overhead bin space, a plane boarded with no crew, laptop battery fire safety, forgotten jet bridge bags, Penn State fraternity trouble, and a dating app dinner disaster involving way too many oysters.
If you like flight attendant stories, airline humor, passenger etiquette, crew-life chaos, travel frustrations, and real talk from inside the cabin, this episode is for you.

100: We Asked Flight Attendants: What's the WORST Part of the Job?
Episode 100
Show notes
This episode starts with the question every nervous flyer has probably wondered during turbulence: what are the flight attendants thinking right now?
Shawn and G break down the real answer, and spoiler alert — it is usually not panic. It is more like, “Sit down, buckle up, stay off the ceiling, and how are we supposed to finish this service now?” From sudden bumps that send pots flying to passengers asking for water in the middle of turbulence, this one opens with the real crew perspective on what happens when service instantly turns into safety.
Then we get into the questions people always ask flight attendants. What is the best part of the job? What is the worst part? Would we recommend it? Would we do it all over again? Shawn and G talk travel perks, full benefits, meeting people, seeing the world, and the fact that absolutely nothing about this job is normal — which somehow is one of the best parts.
Of course, we also talk about the hard parts: chaotic schedules, time zones, fatigue, negative crew members, and the “minimal flight attendant” who disappears after service like they entered witness protection. Because when you are stuck in a metal tube together, one bad attitude can make a short day feel very, very long.
Then the passenger advice gets real. Wipe the headrest. Wear shoes in the airplane bathroom. Take your headphones off when someone is talking to you. Be situationally aware. Time your bathroom trips. And for the love of cabin pressure, understand that simple manners go a long way.
The conversation takes a hard left into golf tournaments, prison-only potato chips, bad mouse jokes, Shawn possibly diagnosing himself with shingles on the golf course, the invention of the “male napkin,” and G trying to follow that with a very normal garage cleanout story.
Finally, we go Around the Globe with passengers who get removed from airplanes and suddenly become the victim, including one exit-row situation that caused an entire aircraft to taxi back and deplane. The lesson is simple: do not be the reason 150 people have to start their trip over.
If you like flight attendant stories, airline humor, turbulence talk, passenger etiquette, crew-life chaos, and real conversations that somehow go from aviation safety to golf-course medical decisions, this episode is for you.

Push The Flush Button
Episode 99
Show notes
This episode starts with a public service announcement from every flight attendant on earth: if you see the lavatory flush button, please push it. Shawn and G kick things off with a very real, very gross airplane bathroom rant that every crew member and frequent flyer will understand immediately. Somehow, that turns into remote-control flushing, Ally McBeal, and a lavatory invention that probably should never be trusted to two flight attendants sitting on a jumpseat.
From there, the guys get into the strange chaos of “light flights.” You would think fewer passengers means an easier day, but apparently it just means people start treating the airplane like open seating at a school bus convention. Dogs come out of carriers, bags go everywhere, passengers want to move up to Economy Plus, and suddenly the flight that should have been simple turns into a full customer-service workout.
Then the travel advice gets real. Shawn and G talk about passengers coming over from canceled flights, last-minute tickets, low-cost carrier risks, and why booking a flight the same day as your cruise is one of the boldest vacation decisions you can make. They also break down the difference between asking a crew member for help the right way and coming onboard already mad at the wrong people.
The episode also gets into one of the hardest parts of the job: de-escalation. From entitled passengers to the guy who boards already looking for a fight, Shawn and G explain how flight attendants have to keep their cool even when someone is clearly trying to push every button. Thankfully, the chaos gets balanced out with crew coffee confusion, an elderly passenger asking for help with free Wi-Fi, and the kind of stories that remind you people are still funny even when travel is a mess.
And because this is Cabin Pressure, the airline talk somehow turns into Shawn transplanting a tree, breaking a sprinkler line, standing over a muddy hole questioning every life choice, and G enjoying the whole thing a little too much.
Finally, the guys go around the globe with turbulence diversions, a lithium battery evacuation video that proves passengers need training too, a man holding an alligator like a baby, a painful national anthem moment, and a mesmerizing iceberg flip that sends them briefly into science mode.

Flight Attendant Recovers Destroyed iPad From Seat – Here's What Happened
Episode 98
Show notes
This episode starts with the question every flight attendant answers before the aircraft door even closes: what do you notice first when passengers board? Shawn tries to keep it professional, G immediately goes to smell, and suddenly we are talking about clean passengers, airport outfits, sandals on planes, pajama travel, and the mystery of why some people show up to the airport looking like they lost a fight with their suitcase.
From there, things get even stranger with a passenger wearing a tail, a full conversation about “furries,” and the kind of onboard interaction that makes flight attendants question every decision that led them to that aisle. If you have ever worked a flight where the passenger behavior was already confusing before the beverage service started, this one will feel painfully familiar.
Then we get into real aviation disruption. Shawn and G talk about FAA staffing issues, East Coast airspace messes, American Airlines IT problems, and how one system failure can ripple through an entire airline operation for days. It is the behind-the-scenes airline reality passengers rarely see, but crews and commuters feel immediately.
The episode also dives into hot hotel rooms, European key-card power systems, passenger dress codes that no longer exist, hydration masks, chin-strap masks, cultural differences onboard, group travel behavior, and the one phrase that makes flight attendants instantly lose patience: “I know.”
Shawn also shares a lost iPad story from a seat that turns into a destroyed iPad recovery, G gets his turn with travel karma after making fun of Shawn’s airport chaos, and Florida weather creates the kind of reroute, sit time, and pairing modification that makes a normal duty day turn into a 15-hour test of patience.
Then it is time to go around the globe with an ATC and helicopter pilot argument, a bear stuck on a pole, airline employees caught fighting on video, a raccoon falling through a ceiling, and a cliff-jump fail that hurts just to watch.
If you like unfiltered flight attendant stories, airline chaos, airport behavior, crew-life humor, aviation news, and the kind of conversations that go from FAA delays to raccoons in the ceiling without warning, this episode is for you.

Airport Moving Sidewalks Bring Out The Worst In People
Episode 97
Show notes
YouTube Description
Why do people step off a moving sidewalk in the airport and suddenly act like they just reached the scenic overlook at the Grand Canyon? That is where this episode starts, and honestly, it only gets more accurate from there.
Shawn and G are back with a full breakdown of the human behavior crimes we all witness in airports: people stopping at the end of moving walkways, families walking five-wide through the concourse, seat savers, baggage claim blockers, phone zombies, and the TSA PreCheck line argument that proves some people are determined to hit every wrong button before they even get to security.
Then the conversation goes from airport survival to smoke-filled skies as we talk about the Canadian wildfire smoke, low visibility, weird weather, and how something hundreds of miles away can still make flying, breathing, and commuting a mess. From there, Shawn shares a wild conversation with a nurse who commutes from Cleveland to San Francisco for work, and we get into the kind of passenger and crew stories that only happen in aviation.
This episode also takes us to Greece, where Shawn’s Athens layover turns into a ferry ride to a Greek island, pistachios, swimming between courses, food by the water, and the kind of relaxed European dining experience that makes American restaurants feel like they are timing you with a stopwatch. But it would not be Cabin Pressure without the other side of the trip: an unprepared crew member in a major galley position, delayed service, trash piling up in first class, and the reminder that teamwork matters when everyone is trying to get to crew rest.
G returns after being sick, which leads to real talk about flight attendants coming to work sick, why new hires feel pressure to push through, and why sometimes the best thing you can do for the crew is stay home. Naturally, that somehow turns into contaminated salad, Taco Bell colonoscopy prep, summer travel, Indiana Fever basketball, Benson Boone flips, intermittent fasting, and a roadside sign for a fudge factory that should probably be questioned by every marketing department in America.
We also get into passenger insults, the flight attendant stare that can end a conflict without saying a word, World Cup airspace violations, fighter jets, TSA versus a mouse, home mouse traps, and one of the dumbest “what were you thinking?” videos involving a bull and a seesaw.
The episode closes with a personal moment as Shawn talks about losing his mom, G shares a quote that fits grief and perspective, and the guys remind everyone to check out the Cabin Pressure website, merch, and Travel Gear We Use page to support the show.
If you like unfiltered flight attendant stories, airport chaos, travel etiquette, aviation safety talk, crew-life frustration, layover stories, and conversations that can go from Greek islands to mouse traps in under five minutes, this episode is for you.

Why This Passenger's Refusal to Move Nearly Caused an Incident
Episode 96
Show notes
Episode Description
This episode starts with Shawn and G doing what they do best: turning one joke into a full conversation. From “do-do duty time” to the World Cup, soccer culture, USA pride, and why Americans sometimes miss how big the rest of the world’s sports moments really are, the opening quickly becomes a mix of comedy, competition, and classic Cabin Pressure banter.
Then the conversation moves into serious airline territory. Shawn shares a cockpit barrier situation where a passenger refused multiple instructions to step back while the pilots were transitioning in and out of the flight deck. It leads to a real discussion about compliance, aviation security, passenger behavior, and why flight attendants do not have the luxury of “just letting it go” when safety procedures are involved.
From there, things get painfully relatable for anyone who travels. Shawn and G get into speakerphone conversations on planes, FaceTime during boarding, bad cabin etiquette, brutal heat, humidity, sideways rain, soaked shoes, airport commutes, toll roads, traffic, and the kind of vacation exhaustion that makes you need a second vacation just to recover from the first one.
Shawn also breaks down his California trip, including Newport Coast, LAX traffic, In-N-Out, Disney, the San Diego Zoo, and the moment a scooter became the smartest decision of the entire vacation. Then the episode takes a very Cabin Pressure turn into bathroom emergencies, public restroom frustration, Ohio versus California travel culture, and why not being able to find a bathroom when you need one can ruin your whole day.
G brings the airline stories back with his return to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, including QR codes, customs, security screening, the maze-like airport setup, tiny restaurants, crew logistics, and why some layovers are memorable for all the wrong reasons. The episode also covers a wild taser incident, bats in a training room, rabies shots, and the kind of travel stories that sound fake until you realize they came from real life.
Finally, Shawn and G close with the gear they actually use on the road, including travel tools, portable fans, kettles, and the crew-life items that make flying, commuting, hotels, and layovers easier. If you like unfiltered flight attendant stories, airline humor, aviation safety talk, travel chaos, and real conversations that go completely off the rails in the best way, this episode is for you.

Doo Doo Duty Limits And Other Airline Chaos
Episode 95
Show notes
Doodoo Limitations
One badly pronounced airline term is all it takes to send this episode completely off the rails. What begins as a serious explanation of pilot and flight attendant duty limitations quickly becomes “doodoo limitations”—and, naturally, we never recover.
First, we follow up on the passenger accused of slapping a flight attendant and facing serious federal consequences. That leads to an important reminder: keep your hands to yourself on an airplane. We also talk about how dramatically workplace boundaries have changed during our careers—and how even a seemingly innocent galley conversation can turn into a major problem.
Then G raids Shawn’s backyard for plants, discovers that carrying dirt uphill is apparently an extreme sport after a certain age, and uncovers some questionable stories involving flowers, deer and a few unfortunate Ohio rabbits.
Back in the aviation world, we explain why a flight can taxi all the way to the runway and still return to the gate because the pilots have reached their legal duty limit. We break down the difference between pilot and flight attendant legalities, why one minute can matter and why the crew cannot simply “make an exception” because everyone wants to get home.
We also react to an incredible educator teaching children how to behave on an airplane, discuss the value of volunteering, reflect on devastating earthquake footage from the Philippines and revisit Shawn’s early travel memories of Manila—including jeepneys, waterways, poverty, generosity and a red-light-district story that probably deserves its own episode.
From there, we meet a passenger who snores through the airport, the entire flight and nearly his own destination; Shawn unexpectedly reunites with a flight attendant classmate after 36 years; and one unforgettable New York couple turns a simple meal order into a full theatrical production.
Add in international food adventures, traveler’s diarrhea, fresh eel, an Aldi ahi-tuna discovery, two very different viral college baseball moments and a Japanese airline scandal that resulted in executive pay cuts and thousands of flight attendants losing their layover drinking privileges.
It is aviation education, questionable food choices, passenger chaos and completely unnecessary backyard confessions—all pressurized into one episode.

Patriotism Under Attack—Here's What's Really Happening
Episode 94
Show notes
Happy 250th birthday, America! 🇺🇸 Shawn and G kick off this episode with Fourth of July traditions, family cookouts, fireworks, childhood memories, and appreciation for the military, law enforcement, and everyone working to keep major summer celebrations safe.
Then the conversation turns to the summer travel disaster season. From driving through blinding Ohio rain to thunderstorms shutting down airports hundreds of miles away, we explain why clear skies at your airport do not mean your flight will leave on time. Shawn shares what happened aboard a 13-hour flight from Japan with no Wi-Fi or outside connectivity, and the guys discuss aircraft maintenance schedules, weather diversions, cascading delays, and why airlines need to give passengers better real-time information.
Summer vacation plans lead to a debate over Disneyland versus a Disney cruise, followed by a flight attendant commuter story that turns into the airport version of The Hunger Games. Oversold flights, limited jumpseats, a crew still listed on the manifest, and one captain willing to step in make this a story airline employees will understand immediately.
The episode also covers tribute bands, concert line-cutters, forgotten Broadway tickets, and whether couples should be allowed to skip events they simply do not want to attend.
Finally, we go around the globe with some unbelievable travel stories: Would you delay your trip for a $4,000 airline voucher? What happens when Americans get arrested after a brawl in the Bahamas? Why was someone traveling with 150 venomous scorpions? And how did a passenger carrying a fake boarding pass manage to sneak onto an airplane?
Celebrate safely, be careful with fireworks, learn the laws before traveling internationally, and remember that summer travel requires patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor.

Wait, You Don't Remember Ditching Me?
Episode 93
Show notes
What happens when Shawn promises to attend a party, convinces G to go—and then completely forgets to show up? This episode begins with G calling Shawn out for missing a wild flight-attendant “Return to the ’80s” party while relaxing on his deck without a care in the world.
Once the excuses are over, we get into a serious airline-safety debate: Should overhead bins automatically lock during takeoff, landing, and emergency evacuations to stop passengers from grabbing their luggage? We also examine a passenger’s maintenance-delay nightmare and explain why honest, frequent communication from the crew can completely change the experience.
Then we pull back the curtain on the supposedly glamorous flight-attendant lifestyle, react to our new contract and pay increases, share a truly terrible haircut experience, and discuss why going to the movies is no longer the affordable adventure it once was.
Around the globe, we cover a pilot who allegedly flew for years using fraudulent credentials, a horrifying bungee-jumping incident, the rapid growth of AI travel agents, and whether commercial airlines could eventually operate with only one human pilot. We finish with an AI-generated walking fish, a $15,000 Pokémon card robbery, and a reminder that becoming someone you are proud of may be the greatest motivation of all.
