Banks Are “Flagging” Social Security Deposits? Former SSA Manager Reacts
A video with over 250,000 views says every bank in America is now watching your Social Security deposit — and that your check is “named on the list.” As a former Social Security District Manager, I watched the whole thing so you don’t have to. The rule he’s talking about is real. What he says it means for you is not. In this video I go through his claims one by one, show you which ones hold up, which ones are twisted, and what actually happens in a field office when a deposit goes missing. Spoiler: you don’t need to buy anybody’s guide to protect your check.

Social Security Spouse Benefits: 2027 Work Limits and Ex-Spouse Rules
Show notes
Social Security spouse benefits can be confusing—especially when divorce, remarriage, your own work record and continued earnings are involved. In this complete 2027 Social Security spouse benefits update, Dr. Ed explains who may qualify, how benefits are calculated and which rules could affect your monthly check.
Need help with Medicare? Call Dr. Ed's trusted partner, Chapter at 352-841-0632
We’ll cover:
✅ Social Security benefits for a current spouse
✅ Divorced-spouse benefits after a marriage lasting at least 10 years
✅ Independently entitled divorced-spouse benefits when an ex-spouse has not filed
✅ The two-year divorce rule
✅ The age-62 requirement and what happens if you claim early
✅ How your own retirement benefit interacts with a spouse or divorced-spouse benefit
✅ Why Social Security generally pays the higher combined amount—not two full checks added together
✅ Deemed filing rules
✅ Whether your spouse must already be collecting Social Security
✅ How remarriage can affect divorced-spouse eligibility
✅ The 3.6% Social Security COLA for 2027
✅ Working while receiving spouse or divorced-spouse benefits
✅ The 2027 retirement earnings limitsFor 2027, the earnings limit is $25,560 if you are below full retirement age for the entire year. Social Security generally withholds $1 in benefits for every $2 earned above that limit.
If you reach full retirement age during 2027, the higher limit is $67,920 for earnings before the month you reach full retirement age. Social Security generally withholds $1 for every $3 earned above that amount. Beginning with the month you reach full retirement age, the retirement earnings test no longer applies.
A full spouse or divorced-spouse benefit can be as much as 50% of the worker’s full-retirement-age benefit. Claiming before your own full retirement age can permanently reduce the amount. If you also qualify on your own work record, Social Security pays your own benefit first and may add only enough spouse benefits to bring you to the higher eligible amount.
An independently entitled divorced spouse may be able to collect on an ex-spouse’s record even if that ex-spouse has not filed, provided the applicable requirements are met—including that both people are at least 62 and the divorce has been final for at least two continuous years.
These rules are highly personal. Your marriage dates, divorce date, age, work history, filing date and current marital status can all change the answer.

Social Security 2027: Work Limits, COLA, and Your Benefit Check
Show notes
Social Security 2027 retirement changes are here. In this complete 2027 Social Security retirement update, Dr. Ed explains the new 3.6% COLA, maximum monthly retirement benefits, Social Security taxable earnings cap, FICA taxes, retirement earnings limits and the important rules for people who continue working while collecting benefits.
Here are the major 2027 numbers covered in this video:
✅ 3.6% Social Security COLA
✅ $2,170 estimated average monthly retired-worker benefit
✅ $4,188 maximum benefit at full retirement age
✅ $3,094 maximum example for someone claiming at age 62
✅ $5,358 maximum example for someone claiming at age 70
✅ $192,300 Social Security taxable earnings maximum
✅ $11,922.60 maximum employee Social Security tax
✅ $25,560 annual earnings limit if you are under full retirement age
✅ $2,130 monthly earnings-test amount
✅ $67,920 earnings limit during the year you reach full retirement age
✅ $5,660 corresponding monthly amount during that special yearI’ll explain who each number applies to, how much Social Security may withhold when your earnings exceed the applicable limit, and why benefits withheld under the retirement earnings test are not necessarily gone forever.
You’ll also learn the difference between the Social Security wage cap and Medicare taxes. The 6.2% employee Social Security tax applies only up to the $192,300 taxable maximum in 2027, while the standard 1.45% Medicare tax has no wage cap. Self-employed workers generally pay both the employee and employer shares.
Most importantly, the advertised maximum retirement benefit is not what everyone receives. Your actual Social Security retirement benefit depends on your earnings history, claiming age and other individual factors.

How to Find More Social Security and Medicare Savings After a 3.6% COLA
Show notes
**SOCIAL SECURITY 2027: CAN YOU GET MORE THAN THE 3.6% COLA?** The government has officially announced a 3.6% Social Security increase for 2027. But what if there are other ways to increase your monthly check?
Need FREE Medicare help? Call Chapter Medicare: 352-841-0632
Dr. Ed Weir, former Social Security District Manager, explains Social Security rules and benefit options that could help you receive more money in 2027 and beyond.
Most people hear about the annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), look at the percentage, and assume that's all they can get. But depending on your situation, your work history, retirement decisions, and family circumstances could make a much bigger difference in your Social Security benefits.
**For example, a 3.6% increase on a $2,000 monthly benefit is approximately $72 more per month. But could you qualify for something more?**
In this video, we'll discuss:
✅ **The 2027 Social Security COLA:** What the 3.6% increase means for your monthly benefits.
✅ **Your earnings record:** How missing or incorrect earnings could affect your Social Security check.
✅ **Working while receiving benefits:** When additional earnings could increase your monthly payment.
✅ **Retirement decisions:** How claiming age and certain benefit options can affect how much you receive.
✅ **Spousal and survivor benefits:** Whether you might qualify for additional benefits based on a spouse's or former spouse's work record.
✅ **Medicare deductions:** Why your actual payment increase could be smaller than the announced COLA.
✅ **Important Social Security rules:** What to check before making decisions that could affect your retirement income.
**The 3.6% COLA is automatic for eligible beneficiaries, but other benefit increases depend on your individual circumstances. There is no guarantee that everyone can receive more than the COLA.**
Whether you're collecting Social Security retirement benefits, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), or preparing to file, understanding the rules could help you protect your income and avoid expensive mistakes.
**Don't settle for guessing whether your Social Security check is correct. Learn what to check and what questions to ask.**
