Dragon Ball Super Dope - A Dragon Ball Podcast
Dragon Ball Super Dope is a Dragon Ball podcast covering Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Daima, Dragon Ball GT, the movies, the manga, and every chaotic corner of the Toriyama multiverse. Hosted by me, Kyle, the show blends analysis with unfiltered humor as we break down new episodes, revisit classic arcs, explore power scaling, rank the best fights, and react to every major Dragon Ball announcement.
While Dragon Ball is the heart of the show, we also dive into other fandoms we love — including Marvel movies, MCU chaos, and the latest episodes of My Hero Academia and other anime that cross our radar. If you're into Goku and Deku, Vegeta and Bakugo, or just want a place where Dragon Ball fans occasionally yell about superheroes, you're in the right spot.
If you're looking for a Dragon Ball Super podcast, a Dragon Ball Z review show, Daima reactions, MHA breakdowns, Marvel talk, or a place to geek out with a community that doesn't take itself too seriously, welcome home. We dig into transformations, timelines, lore, and the wildest fan theories — with plenty of jokes and fan-chaos along the way.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 3 – The Weakest One So Far?
Show notes
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 3 is here, and after three episodes of Toei Animation's updated take on Battle of Gods, we might have our first disappointment.
This week on Dragon Ball Super Dope, Kyle breaks down Episode 3, "The God of Destruction Heads to Earth," and explains why this might be the weakest installment of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus so far.
Between questionable animation decisions, rushed storytelling, and some bizarre editing choices, this episode raises an important question: Is the new version of Dragon Ball Super actually improving the original anime?
Beerus finally makes his way to Earth, where Bulma's birthday celebration is underway. For Vegeta, however, the God of Destruction's arrival is anything but a party. His terrifying memories of Beerus humiliating King Vegeta come rushing back, setting the stage for one of the most memorable confrontations in Battle of Gods.
Kyle discusses how the new anime handles Vegeta's childhood flashback, why Kid Vegeta's character design wasn't updated to match Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and how the animation team continues to make some strange choices when revisiting the original series.
And yes, they even brought back that infamous Vegeta stumbling animation!
Despite these criticisms, there's still plenty to enjoy, particularly the contrast between Beerus being presented as a terrifying, almost horror-movie villain and his surprisingly casual interactions with the Z Fighters.
Topics discussed in this episode:
•
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 3 review and analysis
•
Why Episode 3 might be the weakest episode yet
•
Vegeta's history with Beerus and King Vegeta
•
Beerus arriving on Earth for Bulma's birthday
•
The updated animation compared to the original Dragon Ball Super
•
Vegeta's character design and its differences from Dragon Ball Super: Broly
•
The infamous Vegeta stumbling animation returns
•
The rushed editing and pacing of the Battle of Gods remake
•
The comedy and horror elements of Beerus's personality
•
Celebrating the legendary Masako Nozawa's 90th birthday
Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus delivering the definitive version of Battle of Gods, or is the remake already showing its weaknesses?

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 2 FIXED The WORST Goku Fight!
Show notes
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 2 just FIXED one of the worst animated fights in Dragon Ball history! The infamous Goku vs. Beerus battle on King Kai's Planet has received a massive upgrade, and the results might be even better than the original Battle of Gods movie!
In this episode of Dragon Ball Super Dope, Kyle reviews Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 2, breaking down the completely reworked Super Saiyan Goku vs. Beerus fight, the improved animation and choreography, and the surprising influence of Toyotaro's Dragon Ball Super manga. With the new anime already condensing roughly five episodes of the original Dragon Ball Super series into just two, the updated Battle of Gods arc is moving quickly without sacrificing the character moments that make Dragon Ball great.
We also discuss one of the biggest improvements that nobody seems to be talking about: Goku's personality. Instead of the reckless, battle-obsessed version of Goku from the original Dragon Ball Super anime, this version actually seems to understand how dangerous Beerus is. From King Kai's desperate attempts to hide Goku to the tense introduction of the God of Destruction, the entire encounter feels more meaningful.
Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus becoming the definitive version of Battle of Gods? Is this the best Goku vs. Beerus fight we've ever seen? And should the rest of Dragon Ball Super receive the same treatment?
Drop your thoughts in the comments!

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 1 REVIEW! Is This the Super Remake We Needed?
Show notes
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is officially here, and Kyle is breaking down Episode 1 of the newly reworked Dragon Ball Super anime! Is this essentially Dragon Ball Super Kai, or is Toei Animation delivering something even better? From gorgeous updated visuals and improved lighting to tighter pacing, refreshed sound effects, and a surprisingly intimidating Beerus, there's plenty to love about this new take on the Battle of Gods storyline.
Kyle dives into Goku's newly animated image training against Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu, the brilliant parallel between Goku and Beerus awakening to their desire for a worthy opponent, and the return of Mr. Satan's surprisingly heartfelt character development. Plus, we discuss the new opening theme "Onogami" by Megaterra Zero, the differences between the original Dragon Ball Super anime and this updated adaptation, and what Kibito Shin's appearance could mean for Dragon Ball Daima, Super Saiyan 4, and the increasingly complicated Dragon Ball canon.
Finally, Kyle compares the early Crunchyroll reception of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus with Dragon Ball Daima, questions why Dragon Ball still can't deliver a proper simultaneous English dub, and responds to fans complaining about revisiting old material instead of jumping straight into the Moro Arc. Is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus already proving the doubters wrong? Let's talk about it!

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Is Almost Here — Everything We Know
Show notes
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is almost here! With the new anime set to premiere in Japan on October 11, Kyle breaks down everything we know about how and where fans will be able to watch the series, including the expected Crunchyroll simulcast and Netflix release schedule. We also listen to and react to previews of the new opening and ending themes, including "Megatera Zero" by Onogami and "Konpeki no Peki" by VK Blanka.
Then we get into the bigger question surrounding Dragon Ball Super: Beerus: is this really going to stop after the first three arcs? With 19 episodes currently confirmed, Kyle looks at the calendar leading up to the Galactic Patrol arc and makes the case that there may be enough time to continue remaking Dragon Ball Super. Could we see new versions of the Goku Black/Future Trunks arc, Tournament of Power and even Dragon Ball Super: Broly before Moro finally arrives?
Plus: why a seasonal approach might be exactly what Dragon Ball needs, what a more manga-faithful Tournament of Power could look like, Master Roshi dodging Jiren, the importance of Broly to the future Super storyline, some Patreon updates, and Kyle's increasingly suspicious relationship with Facebook.

CHA LA HEAD CHA LA - Dragon Ball Z Opening 1 - Dragon Ball Opening Songs Series
Show notes
It's time for another installment of the Dragon Ball opening theme series, and this time Kyle is tackling arguably the most iconic Dragon Ball song ever recorded: "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA." We go back to the original Dragon Ball Z opening by Hironobu Kageyama, dig into lyricist Yukinojo Mori's surprisingly profound explanation of what "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" actually means, and discover that underneath the dinosaurs, fireballs and general Dragon Ball weirdness is a song about clearing your mind, letting go of what's happened to you, and finding the room to dream again.
Kyle also dives into Kageyama's memories of recording the song—including the bizarre alternate universe where CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA apparently sounded more like Bon Jovi—and revisits the many versions of Dragon Ball Z's opening theme that fans heard around the world. From Rock the Dragon and Funimation's nostalgic instrumental themes to English-language covers, international adaptations and Kageyama singing the damn thing himself in English, we're celebrating the strange history and enduring legacy of one of the greatest anime theme songs of all time. Plus: old-school DBZ VHS nostalgia, https://DragonBallZ.com, Super Survivor, questionable localization decisions, and an alarming amount of yelling about bass lines.

Dragon Ball Super Returns... But Is It the Return Fans Actually Wanted?
Show notes
Brandon is back! One of the original members of the Super Dope Trio returns to the show as Kyle and Brandon kick off a new series revisiting Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods ahead of the long-awaited return of the Dragon Ball Super anime.
With Dragon Ball Super officially set to return (starting with a brand-new retelling of the Beerus saga), the guys discuss the biggest questions surrounding the relaunch. Why revisit Battle of Gods and Resurrection F for a fourth time? Will Toei finally create a definitive version of the story? And what happens to all of the anime-only moments fans have come to love?
Along the way, they dive into Beerus' introduction as one of Dragon Ball's most unique antagonists, Vegeta's unforgettable Bingo Dance, Goku's first encounter with Super Saiyan God, the differences between the movie, anime, and manga versions of Battle of Gods, and why Dragon Ball still struggles with the idea of a single "canon."
The conversation also branches into Dragon Ball Daima, the Moro (Galactic Patrol Prisoner) Arc, Tournament of Power, Future Trunks, Goku Black, the future of Dragon Ball Super, and whether Toei is making the right decision by rebooting the anime instead of jumping directly into new material.
If you've been wondering what Dragon Ball Super's return means for longtime fans, this episode is the perfect place to jump back in.
In This Episode
• Brandon returns to Dragon Ball Super Dope
• The official return of the Dragon Ball Super anime
• Why Toei is retelling Battle of Gods and Resurrection F
• Movie vs. anime vs. manga: Which version is best?
• Vegeta's Bingo Dance and the scenes fans hope survive the reboot
• Beerus as one of Dragon Ball's greatest modern characters
• Dragon Ball Daima and where it fits in the timeline
• Canon confusion: Is everything officially canon now?
• The Moro Arc and Galactic Patrol storyline discussion
• Future Trunks, Goku Black, Tournament of Power, and what's next for the franchise
• What the new Dragon Ball Super adaptation needs to get rightIf you enjoyed this episode, be sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share the show with another Dragon Ball fan. New episodes covering the return of Dragon Ball Super are on the way.

Chozetsu Dynamic! Dragon Ball Super Opening 1 - Dragon Ball Opening Songs Series
Show notes
In this episode of Dragon Ball Super Dope, we're celebrating the 11th anniversary of Dragon Ball Super by taking a deep dive into its first opening theme, Chozetsu Dynamic. From the song's creation and recording process to its English localization, lyrical themes, and unforgettable debut alongside the return of the Dragon Ball franchise in 2015, we explore why this opening became one of the defining pieces of music in modern anime. We also compare it to legendary Dragon Ball themes like Makafushigi Adventure!, CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA, We Gotta Power, and Limit-Break x Survivor, discussing where Chozetsu Dynamic fits among the greatest Dragon Ball opening songs of all time.
Beyond the opening theme itself, we examine how Chozetsu Dynamic was adapted throughout the Dragon Ball Super soundtrack, breaking down its various orchestral, piano, and string arrangements used during the anime. Kyle also shares his thoughts on the evolution of Dragon Ball Super's background score, the series' early production challenges, and why the music became stronger as the anime progressed. Along the way, he revisits his own acoustic cover of Chozetsu Dynamic, reflects on the early years of the podcast, and shares plenty of nostalgia for one of the most exciting eras in Dragon Ball history. Whether you're a longtime Dragon Ball fan, an anime music enthusiast, or simply love discussing the franchise's iconic opening songs, this episode is packed with analysis, history, and appreciation for one of Dragon Ball Super's most recognizable themes.

Dragon Ball Super Is FINALLY Back — Galactic Patrol, Beerus AGAIN?! & The Future of Dragon Ball
Show notes
After nearly eight years of waiting, Dragon Ball Super is officially coming back — and the announcements out of Japan have the fandom split right down the middle.
In this episode of Dragon Ball Super Dope, I break down everything revealed at the Genki Dai Matsuri event, including the long-rumored return of the anime with Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, a brand-new Dragon Ball Super: Beerus remake, and a mysterious new Dragon Ball video game that claims deep ties to Akira Toriyama's legacy.
We start with the big one: Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, which all but confirms the long-awaited Moro arc will finally be animated. While there's no release date yet, this announcement officially ends years of speculation — Super is back, and it's moving forward instead of being rebooted or remastered into oblivion.
Then comes the curveball. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is slated for late 2026 and appears to be a high-budget, six-episode re-telling of Battle of Gods. The animation quality looks incredible… but do we really need to see Beerus arrive on Earth for the fourth time? I dig into why this feels frustrating, what it could mean for a full "Dragon Ball Super Kai" style remake, and whether redoing Super with manga-accurate storytelling might actually be worth it.
Finally, we talk games. Dragon Ball Project / Age 1000 introduces a new original character (Kino?) and claims heavy involvement from Akira Toriyama — which raises some uncomfortable questions about transparency, legacy marketing, and how Dragon Ball moves forward creatively. Is this Xenoverse 3, a Dragon Ball Online revival, or something else entirely?
Along the way, I get personal about what Dragon Ball Super Dope has meant to me, how the Tournament of Power era shaped this podcast, and why seasonal Dragon Ball might actually be the best possible future for the franchise.
If you've been waiting for Moro, Granolah, Gas, and Black Frieza to finally hit the screen — this episode is for you.

But the heart of the episode is Ochako vs. her grief. Kyle dives deep into her breakdown, Deku's confession, and how this moment ties all the way back to the entrance exam. If you love MHA's emotional storytelling, this is one of the most powerful episodes of the entire series.

The Hellish Todoroki Family, Final - My Hero Academia Episode 168 Breakdown
Show notes
In this episode of Super Dope Plus Ultra, I'm diving into My Hero Academia Episode 168, Epilogue: The Hellish Todoroki Family – Final. This one shifts gears hard — from global cleanup and post-war rehab to some of the most emotional character fallout we've seen all season. I talk through Deku's recovery, Bakugo's absolutely brutal breakdown over losing his rival, Mirio's graduation speech, Aoyama's exit, Shinso's big Class 2-A debut, and the weird-ass haircut that Deku is now stuck living with. A lot of characters finally get closure — some uplifting, some tragic, all very "yep, this world is never going to be the same."
Then we get into the heart of the episode: the Todoroki family's final confrontation with Dabi. Shoto's frozen-over new look, Endeavor's shattered state, Rei and the siblings carrying years of trauma on their faces — the whole family looks like they walked out of literal hell, which is exactly the point. And when Toya admits his favorite food and quietly apologizes, man… it hits. I break down all of it, plus Hawks' new role, restoration work ahead for Class 2-A, next week's Gentle/Spinner/Uravity teases, and whether My Hero Academia is about to deliver one of the all-time great anime endings.

Deku No Arms, No Problem: My Hero Academia Episode 166 Breakdown
Show notes
In this episode of Super Dope Plus Ultra, we're breaking down My Hero Academia Episode 166 — the wild mix of trauma, mind-games, and emotional gut punches inside the Vestige world. From Nana Shimura's goodbye to baby Deku trying to save Tenko with literal no-arms energy, I get into why this episode hit hard even if it didn't top last week. And yeah… All For One revealing he basically engineered Shigaraki's entire existence? Absolutely insane.
But the hype is real too. Class 1-A pulls an Avengers-level entrance, Sero of all people comes in hot, and Eri tries to help in the most Eri way possible. I'm talking reinforcements, big feelings, stupid quirk science, and why Season 7 continues to cook.
