Week 8 Game-By-Game Preview: Rankings, Projections, Matchups & More
Show notes
Matthew Freedman is downgrading Jahmyr Gibbs. That should tell you how strange Week 8 is. Freedman and Zain Dhanani go game by game through the entire Week 8 slate, all 14 matchups with the 49ers, Saints, Giants and Texans on bye, using spreads, implied totals, injury reports and coverage data to sort out who’s actually startable and who you’re better off benching. They open with Cardinals-Cowboys, where Dallas carries the slate’s highest implied total at 30.75 against a Cardinals defense ranked last in pass DVOA. Then Ravens-Bills at another 54.5 total with Lamar Jackson’s status still unresolved, Titans-Bengals where Cincinnati is a slate-best 10.5-point home favorite, Colts-Jaguars, and Vikings-Lions. Along the way: Dak Prescott in the best spot on the board, George Pickens against a Cardinals defense that plays zone 84% of the time, Chase Brown as Zain’s RB7 against Freedman’s RB15, Tee Higgins outproducing Ja’Marr Chase, Trevor Lawrence off the bye in the league’s best home environment, Sam LaPorta bouncing back, Jordan Mason with Aaron Jones hurt, Chris Godwin if both Emeka Egbuka and Billy Bowman sit, Breece Hall if he’s cleared, Kyren Williams, Drake Maye in the middle of a four-game top-five run, Travis Kelce, DK Metcalf in the Cleveland rematch, Chuba Hubbard against the league’s worst run defense, Rachaad White as Washington’s lead back, Makai Lemon if Philadelphia’s receivers stay out, and Savion Williams getting a real look in Green Bay. Plus the fades: Derrick Henry until Lamar practices in full, Mark Andrews, Jonathan Taylor in a likely bust spot, Jahmyr Gibbs against a Vikings defense that held him to 4.9 points per game last season, Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Ashton Jeanty’s declining usage, Ladd McConkey, Patrick Mahomes for the third straight week, Courtland Sutton, Quinshon Judkins, Aaron Rodgers, Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, and Bryce Young. Then Eagles-Commanders on Sunday night, Bears-Seahawks on Monday, and Panthers-Packers on Thursday. If you’ve got a lineup decision you can’t settle, the game is in here. Week 7 Utilization Report: Risers, Fallers, Waivers & More! (Fantasy Football)
Show notes
Three young pass catchers broke out, a superstar receiver is getting downgraded, and the waiver wire has rookie fever.
Dwain McFarland and Alex Cupps go through the Week 7 Utilization Report — snaps, routes, rush share, target share — and turn it into the specific moves to make this week, on waivers and in the trade market.
They start with the upgrades. KC Concepcion and Omar Cooper Jr. are both climbing at receiver, and Colston Loveland finally gives Chicago something at tight end. At running back it’s Ollie Gordon, Josh Jacobs, and the Denver backfield where Jonah Coleman is still sitting on waivers.
Then the downgrades, and one of them is going to be unpopular. Chase Brown is sliding at running back. And Justin Jefferson — yes, that Justin Jefferson — is getting marked down, with the question being whether the schedule can bail him out.
The back half is the waiver roundup, and it’s heavy on rookies. Priority adds in Antonio Williams, Seth McGowan, Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane, whose role just grew. Then the should-be-rostered tier with Chig Okonkwo at tight end and Dylan Sampson and Caleb Douglas worth stashing. Plus Kaelon Black as a short-term option.
They close in the trade market: a buy-low case on Nico Collins, and a sell-high look at Cam Skattebo.
The Utilization Report is brought to you by http://tenex.ai/. Dwain’s Utilization Report and Cupps’ free and premium waiver pieces are both live on the site. Use promo code FFIL for 10% off FantasyLife+ Tier 2.

Week 7 Game-by-Game Preview: Rankings, Projections, Bold Predictions, Matchups & More!
Show notes
Matthew Freedman and Zain Dhanani go game by game through the entire Week 7 slate, all 14 matchups with the Bills, Jaguars, Commanders and Chargers on bye, using spreads, implied totals, injury reports and coverage data to sort out who’s actually startable and who you’re better off benching. They open in Paris with Steelers-Saints at Stade de France, where New Orleans is playing its second straight road game and is banged up at every level of the defense. Then it’s Packers-Lions at a 53.5 total, 49ers-Falcons, Rams-Raiders and Bengals-Ravens with Lamar Jackson’s status still unsettled. The rankings come with four voices again — Zain, Freedman, Dwain and Cupps — and this week the gaps are the widest they’ve been. Dameon Pierce is RB16 for Freedman and RB51 for Dwain. Brock Purdy is QB1 for Freedman and QB7 for Zain. Tyler Shough splits them by eleven spots, Mark Andrews by eight, Xavier Worthy by twelve, and Zonovan Knight by so much that Dwain doesn’t rank him at all. Along the way: Germie Bernard against a Saints defense that blitzes 41% of the time, Aaron Rodgers in a soft spot in Paris, Jordan Love against a Detroit secondary missing four safeties, Jordan Watkins as the last 49ers receiver standing, Tyler Higbee without Davante Adams, Derrick Henry whether or not Lamar plays, Chuba Hubbard, C.J. Stroud in his third straight strong week, Bo Nix as an actual Freedman favorite for once, Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason splitting Minnesota’s backfield, Braelon Allen with Breece Hall still questionable, Carnell Tate and Denzel Boston, D’Andre Swift for the sixth time this season, and DeVonta Smith in an Eagles offense that has lost Jalen Hurts for the year. Plus the fades: Tyler Shough behind a broken line, Chris Olave in Paris, Kyle Pitts, Ashton Jeanty’s declining usage, Chase Brown, Emeka Egbuka with an undrafted rookie at quarterback, Isaiah Likely with J.J. McCarthy taking over, Cam Skattebo after a week without a carry, Jonathan Taylor against the Vikings, KC Concepcion, Jaxon Smith-Njigba against a Chiefs defense that hasn’t allowed a receiver 75 yards all year, and Patrick Mahomes. Then Chiefs-Seahawks on Sunday night, Cowboys-Eagles on Monday, and Patriots-Bears on Thursday. If you’ve got a lineup decision you can’t settle, the game is in here. Week 6 Utilization Report: Risers, Fallers, Waivers & More! (Fantasy Football)
Show notes
A juicy waiver week, five young pass catchers taking over, and an Ashton Jeanty comp that Cupps is not going to enjoy.
Dwain McFarland and Alex Cupps go through the Week 6 Utilization Report — snaps, routes, rush share, target share — and turn it into the specific moves to make this week, on waivers and in the trade market.
They start with the upgrades, and it’s a receiver week. Germie Bernard is still available in half of leagues. Carnell Tate, Jalen Coker, Emeka Egbuka and Matthew Golden are all climbing. At running back, Jaylen Warren and Bhayshul Tuten are both holding steady, though Dwain has some concerns about the Steelers backfield. And there are open questions at tight end on Colston Loveland and Kyle Pitts.
Then the downgrades, with Cam Skattebo sliding and a question mark on Michael Wilson.
The back half is the biggest waiver section they’ve done. Two priority adds in Omar Cooper Jr. and Antonio Williams, with Terry McLaurin’s season-ending injury opening the Washington target share, plus a reminder that Jordyn Tyson is available in 52% of leagues with a likely Week 9 return. Then the should-be-rostered tier: Tyrone Tracy Jr. at running back, Jaylin Noel, Ja’Kobi Lane, Demario Douglas and Travis Hunter at receiver, and Michael Mayer as a startable tight end now with Terrance Ferguson as an upside stash. Then the short-term and handcuff tier with Roschon Johnson, Samaje Perine, Konata Mumpfield, Christian Kirk and Malachi Fields.
They close in the trade market: a buy-low case on A.J. Brown, and sell-high looks at Ashton Jeanty and Breece Hall — including the comp Dwain has been sitting on.
The Utilization Report is brought to you by Tenex.ai. Dwain’s Utilization Report and Cupps’ free and premium waiver pieces are both live on the site. Use promo code FFIL for 10% off FantasyLife+ Tier 2.

We Broke Down Every Week 6 Game So You Can Win Your Fantasy Matchup
Show notes
Matthew Freedman and Zain Dhanani go game by game through the entire Week 6 slate, all 14 matchups with the Lions, Bengals, Vikings and Dolphins on bye, using spreads, implied totals, injury reports and coverage data to sort out who’s actually startable and who you’re better off benching.
With four teams off this week, a lot of lineups have holes in them, and most of this episode is about filling them.
They open in London with Texans-Jaguars, where Jacksonville is playing its second straight game overseas while Houston flies a league-worst 4,200 miles to get there. Then it’s Bills-Raiders at a 53.5 total, Cardinals-Rams with the Rams carrying the highest implied total on the slate, Bears-Falcons, and the rest of the afternoon.
This week the rankings also come with four voices — Zain, Freedman, Dwain and Cupps — and some of the gaps are enormous. Xavier Worthy is WR21 for Zain and WR38 for Cupps. Mark Andrews is TE10 for Zain and TE24 for Cupps. Dalton Kincaid, Rhamondre Stevenson, Germie Bernard, Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Hurts all split the group too.
Along the way: Rhamondre Stevenson as a potential top-five back if TreVeyon Henderson sits, Germie Bernard as the week’s top waiver pickup with three Steelers receivers hurt, Mike Evans pushing toward WR1 territory if Deebo Samuel misses again, Matthew Golden in a smash spot on Sunday night, Denzel Boston with Cleveland shorthanded, Braelon Allen with Breece Hall still out, Cam Skattebo against a Saints run defense allowing the most to backs, Brenton Strange and Dalton Schultz as bye-week streamers, Blake Corum in the highest-scoring game environment on the board, and Tyler Higbee without Terrance Ferguson.
Plus the fades: Parker Washington against a tough Houston matchup, Trey McBride against the league’s best tight end defense, Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead against a Chargers team he’s historically struggled with, Omarion Hampton in a three-way committee behind a broken line, Bucky Irving without Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts without most of his offense, Bo Nix on short rest, and Jacory Croskey-Merritt losing work to Rachaad White.
Zain also has DraftKings salaries and projected ownership on several plays, including Dalton Kincaid, Tre Tucker, Mark Andrews and the Kansas City receivers.
Then Cowboys-Packers on Sunday night, Commanders-49ers on Monday, and Seahawks-Broncos on Thursday.
If you’ve got a lineup decision you can’t settle, the game is in here.

It might finally be Bhayshul Tuten time, Jaylen Warren keeps climbing, and Rhamondre Stevenson gets a short-term bump. At receiver, Mike Evans is answering the age questions and Malik Nabers moves up again, plus the open question of whether Marvin Harrison Jr. becomes a real fantasy asset in Houston. And Isaiah Likely is pushing into high-end TE1 territory. Then the downgrades. Week 5 Game-by-Game Breakdown: Rankings, Start/Sits, Projections & More!
Show notes
Matthew Freedman and Zain Dhanani go game by game through the entire Week 5 slate, all 15 matchups with the Chiefs and Panthers on bye, using spreads, implied totals, injury reports and coverage data to sort out who's actually startable and who you're better off benching. They open in London with Eagles-Jaguars, where Philadelphia is a 7.5-point underdog and could be without Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and three offensive linemen. Then it's Lions-Cardinals, the highest total on the Sunday board at 54.5, 49ers-Seahawks, Raiders-Patriots and Bears-Packers. This week they also disagree a lot, and they get into why. Zain has C.J. Stroud at QB14 against Freedman's QB22. Khalil Shakir is WR26 for Zain and WR40 for Freedman. Deebo Samuel, Omarion Hampton, Colston Loveland and Mark Andrews all split them by double-digit spots too. Along the way: Emanuel Wilson as the top waiver pickup in a Seattle backfield that may be down to him, Keon Coleman and Shakir in a 54.5-total game if DJ Moore sits, Carnell Tate as the one Titan worth starting, Jaylen Warren with the full-time role he finally has, Josh Downs against a Pittsburgh coverage group Zain grades out at an F, Keaton Mitchell over Hampton behind a broken Chargers line, Brenton Strange in London, Aaron Jones without Jordan Mason, and Dohnte Meyers if Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins both sit. Plus the fades: Jalen Hurts without half his offense, Jameson Williams on a 15% target rate, Christian McCaffrey against a Seattle run defense allowing the least to running backs, Luther Burden for the fifth straight week, Daniel Jones, Jake Ferguson, Bucky Irving and Emeka Egbuka with an undrafted rookie at quarterback, and Derrick Henry on Sunday night. Then Ravens-Falcons on Sunday night, Bills-Rams on Monday, and Buccaneers-Cowboys on Thursday. If you've got a lineup decision you can't settle, the game is in here. Week 4 Utilization Report: Risers, Fallers, Waivers, Buy Low/Sell High & More! (Fantasy Football)
Show notes
Four weeks of data is the point where utilization score starts to actually mean something — and it's saying some uncomfortable things about rosters people are happy with.
Dwain McFarland and Alex Cupps go through the Week 4 Utilization Report — snaps, routes, rush share, target share — and turn it into the specific moves to make this week, on waivers and in the trade market.
They start with the upgrades. Tetairoa McMillan looks like he's entering a WR1 season. Kyren Williams is partying like it's 2023. Plus Malik Nabers and Michael Wilson at receiver and RJ Harvey at running back.
Then the downgrades, and a few of them hurt. Omarion Hampton and Bucky Irving are both sliding, Braelon Allen's window looks short-term, and George Pickens and Jaylen Waddle are close calls where the talent is real but the usage isn't cooperating. Then two names they really don't want to say out loud: Parker Washington and Christian Watson.
The back half is the full waiver roundup. Emanuel Wilson, Joe Mixon, Seth McGowan and Will Shipley at running back, with Tyler Goodson, Tyrone Tracy and James Conner as stashes. Jordyn Tyson, Keon Coleman, Antonio Williams and Tre' Harris at receiver, plus Roman Wilson, Cyrus Allen, Jalen Royals, Dont'e Meyers and the Tyreek Hill situation. And Brenton Strange at tight end.
They close in the trade market: buy-low cases on Matthew Golden and Isaiah Likely, and sell-high looks at Kyle Monangai, Deebo Samuel and possibly Quinshon Judkins.
The Utilization Report is brought to you by http://tenex.ai/. Dwain's Utilization Report and Cupps' free and premium waiver pieces are both live on the site. Use promo code FFIL for 10% off FantasyLife+ Tier 2.

NFL OC Scott Turner Tells Us What We Get Right & Wrong in Fantasy Football Analysis
Show notes
Dwain McFarland sits down with former NFL offensive coordinator Scott Turner — Commanders OC from 2020 to 2022, Raiders pass game coordinator and OC in 2023 and 2024, and Jets pass game coordinator in 2025 — for the conversation fantasy players never get to have.
They start with the trend nobody can ignore: NFL passing yards per game have fallen from 254 in 2020 to 231 this season, with 2025 the lowest since 2008. Average target depth is down nearly a full yard since 2017 and dropback rates are at their lowest point since 2010. Scott explains what defenses are actually doing with two-high looks and safety rotations, whether this is a real scheme shift or just a Tampa 2 revival, and why inviting offenses to run and sustain long drives has been so effective.
Then the counterpunch. Dwain brings the numbers on the efficiency hacks that still work — pre-snap motion, play action, heavy personnel — and asks the question that matters most: if you were looking for a fantasy edge in playcalling and scheme, what would you be seeing that the analytics community is missing entirely?
Then the one every fantasy manager has yelled at a television. Why won't coaches just play the more efficient player? Jaylen Warren waited years for a full-time role and erupted the week he got it. Dontayvion Wicks had better underlying data than Romeo Doubs in Green Bay and is now producing in Philadelphia. Christian Watson is dominating now that the room cleared out. Josh Downs is running more routes than ever and looking like a different player. Scott gets into what coaches see in practice and meetings that never shows up in a spreadsheet — and why draft position still shapes those decisions differently for coaches than it does for GMs.
They also get into scheme versus talent, whether Puka Nacua becomes Puka Nacua without Sean McVay's vision, what made players like Cam Newton, Josh Gordon and Brock Bowers special from a coach's seat, and what it was like growing up watching his father Norv Turner call plays for two Super Bowl-winning Cowboys teams.

Week 4 Game-by-Game Preview: What to Look for in All 16 Matchups
Show notes
Zain Dhanani is joined by Dwain McFarland for a special Dwain and Zain edition of the game-by-game breakdown, going through the entire Week 4 slate, all 16 matchups, using spreads, implied totals, injury reports and positional funnel data to sort out who's actually startable and who you're better off benching.
They open with Jaguars-Bengals, the highest total on the Sunday board at 51.5, where Jacksonville has been one of the easiest defenses in the league for opposing receivers. From there it's Patriots-Bills, the Colts and Commanders in London, Cowboys-Texans, Broncos-49ers and Chiefs-Raiders before the rest of the afternoon slate.
Along the way: Tee Higgins in a matchup Cincinnati can attack, Parker Washington bouncing back from a quiet week, DJ Moore drawing Christian Gonzalez, Josh Downs and Tyler Warren against a Washington defense that's been gashed through the air, Stefon Diggs against the league's worst slot coverage, Dalton Schultz with Nico Collins uncertain, Jake Ferguson and whether to chase the touchdowns, Michael Wilson after a 16-target week, Isaiah Likely, Braelon Allen if Breece Hall sits, Tucker Kraft, Jordan Addison with Justin Jefferson uncertain, Darren Waller, and Jaylen Warren on Thursday night.
Plus the sits: Xavier Worthy, Tre Tucker, Matthew Stafford, Mark Andrews, Rome Odunze, Omarion Hampton, Emeka Egbuka with an undrafted rookie starting for Baker Mayfield, the entire Dolphins backfield without De'Von Achane, Kyle Pitts, and Quinshon Judkins behind a broken offensive line.
Then Lions-Panthers on Sunday night, Falcons-Saints on Monday, and Steelers-Browns on Thursday.
If you've got a lineup decision you can't settle, the game is in here.

Week 3 Utilization Report: Risers, Fallers, Waivers & More! (Fantasy Football)
Show notes
Three weeks of data now, and a Week 3 injury wave just rewrote four backfields and a passing game.
Dwain McFarland and Alex Cupps go through the Week 3 Utilization Report — snaps, routes, rush share, target share — and turn it into the specific moves to make this week, on waivers and in the trade market.
They start with the upgrades. Jeremiyah Love hits liftoff, Cam Skattebo's pass-game role is back, and there's movement for Kenyon Sadiq, George Kittle and Josh Downs. Then the injury fallout: De'Von Achane's torn ACL and what it means for Ollie Gordon and Jaylen Wright in Miami, Breece Hall's thigh opening the door for Braelon Allen, the Travis Etienne situation pushing work toward Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller, and Baker Mayfield's thumb reshaping the Buccaneers passing game. Plus a Brian Thomas Jr. tangent and where Jadarian Price stands now.
The back half is the full waiver roundup. Sam Darnold and Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Keaton Mitchell, available in 68% of leagues, plus Tyler Goodson at running back. Malik Washington and KC Concepcion at receiver, with Christian Kirk as the sicko stash. And AJ Barner and Oronde Gadsden at tight end.
They close in the trade market: buy-low cases on Chase Brown and Ashton Jeanty, and sell-high looks at Davante Adams and Bhayshul Tuten.
