  1. 421 // 5 Home Decorating Questions You're Afraid to Ask (And the Truth Behind Them)

    Show notes

You have the Pinterest boards, the furniture, the rugs, and probably a few purchases you’re still not entirely sure about. So why does your home still feel like it isn't quite coming together?

If you've ever wondered how to find your decorating style, questioned whether you're making the right choices, or looked around a room and thought, "Something is missing, but I have no idea what," this episode is for you.

I'm answering five of the most common home decorating questions I get asked, but we're going a little deeper than choosing the right paint color or finding the perfect sofa.

Because often, the decorating problem isn't really the problem.

It's the second-guessing. The fear of wasting money. The endless scrolling for inspiration without knowing how to put it into practice. And the feeling that no matter how much you do, your home still isn't quite where you want it to be.

In this episode, we're talking about:

    •

How do I figure out my decorating style when I seem to love everything? Learn how to move beyond collecting pretty pictures and start identifying what you truly love and want in your home.

    •

How do I know if I'm making the right decorating decisions? We'll talk about the fear of making expensive mistakes and how to build confidence in your choices.

    •

Why does my room still feel unfinished even though I've bought all the big things? Discover why a furnished room isn't necessarily a finished room, and what those missing finishing touches might be.

    •

How can I make my home look pulled together without spending a fortune? Learn why a beautiful, cohesive home has much more to do with thoughtful decisions than a big decorating budget.

    •

What do I do when I feel completely overwhelmed and don't know where to start? Find out how to stop looking at the entire house as one enormous project and start making meaningful progress, one space at a time.

Here's what I really want you to take away: You don't need more Pinterest inspiration, a bigger budget, or an entirely new house. You need a better understanding of how to make decorating decisions and a plan that helps you move forward.

Because creating a home you love shouldn't feel like one long exercise in second-guessing yourself.

Breaking Free from Perfectionism with Monica Packer

Have you ever put off decorating a room because you can't decide what to do? Or spent so much time trying to make the right decision that you never make one at all? Friend, perfectionism might be at play, and it doesn't always look the way we expect.

In this powerful and deeply personal conversation, I'm joined by Monica Packer, host of the About Progress podcast and author of Sticky Habits, to talk about the surprising ways perfectionism shows up in our lives, our decisions, and even our homes.

We often picture perfectionism as the person who has it all together, with every detail just so. But perfectionism can also look like procrastination, indecision, overthinking, or avoiding the very things we want to do because we're afraid we won't get them right.

And if you've ever found yourself endlessly saving decorating inspiration, second-guessing a purchase, or waiting until you have the perfect plan before you start a room, this conversation is especially for you.

Monica shares her personal experience with perfectionism and the profound cost it can carry. We talk about what it means to rediscover yourself in any season of life, including Monica's Do Something List and the Joy List I've created for myself. Both offer a way to reconnect with what matters to us, make room for joy, and begin taking action without needing everything to be perfect first.

This conversation reminded me that creating a home we love isn't just about choosing the right paint color or finding the perfect sofa. Sometimes, it's about learning to trust ourselves enough to make a decision, take a small step, and let our homes evolve along with us.

Because a cozy home doesn't require perfect decisions. It requires us to begin.

In this episode, we talk about:

    •

The unexpected ways perfectionism shows up, even when we don't think of ourselves as perfectionists

    •

How indecision, overthinking, and procrastination can keep us from making progress in our homes

    •

Monica's personal experience with perfectionism and why this conversation goes much deeper than getting things right

    •

Rediscovering yourself and what brings you joy at any stage of life

    •

Monica's Do Something List and how it can help you reconnect with the things you want to do

    •

My own Joy List and what happens when we intentionally make space for the things that light us up

    •

Why waiting until you're sure, ready, or confident can keep you stuck

    •

How to stop hyper-fixating on decorating decisions and start making progress in your home

    •

The freedom that comes with taking imperfect action

A little something to think about

Where might perfectionism be keeping you stuck?

Maybe it's a room you've been meaning to finish for months. Maybe it's a decorating decision you've revisited a dozen times. Or maybe you've been so focused on getting everything right that you've forgotten to ask yourself what would actually bring you joy.

You don't need to figure everything out today. Start with one small thing. Make a decision. Try something new. Give yourself permission to learn as you go.

Your home, and your life, don't have to be perfect to be wonderful.

Ready to make your home feel more welcoming this holiday season?

If you've been putting off getting your home ready for guests because you don't know where to start, I'd love to invite you to my Home for the Holidays workshop.

  3. 419 // Why Budget-First Decorating Can Leave You With a Room You Still Don't Love

    Show notes

Why Budget-First Decorating Can Leave You With a Room You Still Don't Love

Before you spend money redecorating a room, there are five questions worth asking yourself. The answers can help you decide what to keep, what to change, and where to spend your decorating budget so you create a home that reflects your style, supports your life, and feels good to live in.

Because here's the thing: your budget matters, but it shouldn't be the only thing guiding your decorating decisions. When you start with price instead of purpose, you can end up buying things that don't solve the problem, don't fit your aesthetic, or leave you wishing you'd made a different choice.

Whether you're ready for a complete room refresh or just feel like something in your home needs to change, these five questions will help you approach your next decorating reset with more clarity and confidence.

    In This Episode

    •

Why you're ready for a home decorating reset and how your motivation should shape your decisions

    •

How to recognize when your design aesthetic has evolved and why a little refinement doesn't mean starting over

    •

How to evaluate what your room needs to function better for your everyday life

    •

Why the things you want aren't always the things you should buy first

    •

How to prioritize decorating purchases based on the impact they'll make in your space

    •

The three filters every decorating decision should pass: your aesthetic, your feeling word, and your budget

The 5 Questions to Ask Before You Reset a Room

    1. Why am I ready for a reset?

Are you preparing for holiday guests, working toward a deadline, or simply ready for your home to feel different? Understanding your motivation helps you make better decisions. And while hosting might be the reason you start, your home should ultimately work for you, too.

    2. Has my aesthetic changed?

Our tastes evolve, and that's perfectly normal. You might find yourself drawn to different colors, materials, or styles than you were a few years ago. If your aesthetic has shifted, think refinement rather than replacement. Use what you've learned about your style to edit what you own and identify what no longer fits.

If your style has changed dramatically, you may need a more comprehensive plan than a simple room reset.

    3. What do I need this room to do?

Whether you're decorating from scratch or refreshing a familiar space, start with its purpose. What's working? What's frustrating? What would make the room more functional for the way you live now? Your home should work harder for you, not the other way around.

    4. What do I want?

It's easy to see something beautiful and immediately decide you need it. But there's a difference between wanting something and needing it. When you understand both lists, you can make more intentional choices. And when something you want also meets a real need, that's an especially good place to focus.

    5. What will make the biggest impact?

This might be the most important question of all. Once you've identified your needs and wants, decide which change will make the biggest difference in the room. The answer isn't always the least expensive item or the thing you've been eyeing online. It's the choice that moves you closer to the home you're trying to create.

The Three Filters for Better Decorating Decisions

Before making a purchase or committing to a change, run it through three filters:

    •

Aesthetic: Does it fit the look and style I'm creating?

    •

Feeling word: Does it help my home feel the way I want it to feel?

    •

Budget: Does it make sense for the money I have available to spend?

All three matter. A beautiful bargain isn't a good deal if it doesn't fit your style or help you create the feeling you're after. And the most expensive option isn't automatically the best one, either.

The goal isn't to buy more. It's to make thoughtful decisions that help you love the home you have.

Before you start your next room reset, take a little time to answer these five questions. You might discover that you don't need a whole new room. You might just need a clearer plan.

  4. 418 // How to Create a Cozy Home All Year Long (Not Just in Fall)

    Show notes

How to Create a Cozy Home All Year Long (Not Just in Fall)

A cozy home isn't about pumpkins, chunky blankets, or decorating for fall. It's about creating a space that feels warm, welcoming, comfortable, and good to live in, no matter the season. The secret? Cozy is a dial you can turn up or down, using elements like lighting, color, texture, and the way you arrange your space.

Why Does Everything Feel Cozier in Fall?

There's something about fall that makes us crave a cozier home. The days get shorter, the light changes, and our routines often shift toward spending more time indoors. Our circadian rhythms respond to the changing patterns of light and darkness, and that seasonal shift can make the desire for warmth, comfort, and a welcoming place to land feel especially strong.

But here's the thing: you don't have to wait for September to create a cozy home, and you don't have to pack away your favorite cozy elements when spring arrives.

In this episode, we're talking about what cozy really means, what it doesn't mean, and how to create a home that feels cozy all year long without turning every room into a fall decorating display.

    In This Episode

    • What makes a home feel cozy, and why cozy isn't a decorating style
    • The difference between a cozy home and a home that's simply full of stuff
    • Why cozy is a dial you can turn up or down depending on your preferences, your space, and the season
    • How changing daylight and our circadian rhythms can influence our desire for cozy spaces in fall
    • How to create a cozy home that feels just as welcoming in spring and summer as it does in fall
    • Simple ways to turn up the cozy in your home without buying a whole new collection of seasonal decorations

Cozy Is a Feeling, Not a Season

You don't need to decorate for fall to have a cozy home. And you don't need to cover every surface with blankets, candles, pillows, and accessories to make a room feel warm and inviting.

Cozy looks different from home to home. For one person, it might mean deep colors, layered textures, soft lighting, and a comfortable chair tucked into a corner. For someone else, it might mean light-filled rooms, natural materials, a few meaningful pieces, and a space that feels calm and welcoming.

The goal isn't to copy someone else's version of cozy. It's to understand which elements create that feeling for you.

Think of cozy as a dial. You can turn it up with softer lighting, layered textiles, richer colors, or a more intimate furniture arrangement. You can turn it down with lighter fabrics, more open space, brighter colors, and a simpler approach to styling.

And you can make those adjustments without changing your entire home every time the seasons change.

Accessing feelings and memories from past fall memories helps incorporate story in meaningful, intentional ways.

Ready to Create a Home You Love?

You don't need a bigger budget or a house full of new things to create a cozy home. You need a plan that helps you understand what you love and make your rooms work together so you can start decorating with confidence.

Start your Cozy Home Resetwith a strategic plan and accountability along the way.

  5. 417 // Behind the Scenes: Creating a Cozy Ralph Lauren-Inspired Man Cave That Honors Sport and Story

    Show notes

How to Create a Cozy Man Cave: Ralph Lauren Style, Color Drenching & a Decorating Plan

Creating a cozy man cave doesn't mean filling a room with dark furniture and calling it done. In this behind-the-scenes decorating session with Dani (yes, another Dani), we're creating a warm, masculine space inspired by Ralph Lauren style, complete with leather, plaid, flannel, basketball installation art, framed golf clubs and deer heads. And yes, we're color drenching the room, too.

The best part? Dani wasn't nervous about the bold plan at all.

When I asked if she was scared about color drenching, her answer was simple:

"No... I LOVE that I have a plan."

And honestly, that's what this episode is really about.

    In This Episode

    • How we're creating a cozy, masculine man cave without making it feel cold or overly themed
    • Using Ralph Lauren-inspired style as a jumping-off point for the room
    • How leather, plaid, flannel and wood create warmth and coziness
    • Incorporating personal interests and family heirlooms without making it feel like a sports bar
    • Why color drenching can actually make a room feel more cohesive
    • How having a decorating plan gives you the confidence to make bolder choices
    • The difference between collecting individual pieces you love and creating a room where everything works together
    • A behind-the-scenes look at how I coach a client through real decorating decisions

Creating a Masculine Room That Still Feels Cozy

A masculine room doesn't have to mean gray walls, a brown leather sofa and a giant television.

For this room, we're leaning into the things that naturally create a masculine feeling: rich leather, traditional patterns, warm wood, darker colors, vintage-inspired details and a little bit of that classic Ralph Lauren aesthetic.

But the goal isn't to copy a Ralph Lauren room.

It's to take the elements we love about that style and translate them into a room that works for this particular home and the people who live there.

That's an important distinction when you're decorating your own home, too.

Inspiration is a starting point. It's not the plan.

Yes, We're Color Drenching the Man Cave

Color drenching can sound like a pretty big decorating commitment.

Instead of choosing one color for the walls and then adding a bunch of different colors and finishes around the room, color drenching brings the same or closely related color across multiple surfaces, creating a more enveloping, cohesive feeling.

And in a cozy man cave? It can be really good.

Rather than being afraid of a darker color, we're using it intentionally to help create the mood of the room.

Which brings us back to my favorite moment from this coaching call.

I asked my client if she was nervous about the idea of color drenching.

    She wasn't.

She said she loved having a plan.

That is exactly what I want for you, too.

Not a house full of perfectly coordinated furniture.

Not a Pinterest board you never actually act on.

A plan that helps you make the next decision without second-guessing yourself.

    The Bigger Decorating Lesson

You don't need to be fearless to make bold decorating choices.

You need to understand why you're making them.

When you know the feeling you're trying to create, the style you're working within and the plan for how the pieces will work together, decisions that once felt scary become much easier.

And sometimes the boldest choice in the room is also the one that makes everything else make sense.

Want help creating a plan for your own home?

If you keep buying things you love but can't quite figure out how to make them work together, you're not alone.

That's the exact kind of decorating problem I love helping women solve with a Cozy Home Reset

  6. 416 // How to Make Your Home Feel Calmer: Backwards Decluttering and House Hushing with Myquillyn Smith

    Show notes

What If Your Home Needs Less? Backwards Decluttering & House Hushing with Myquillyn Smith

If you’re wondering how to make your home feel calmer, cozier, and less cluttered, one of the best places to start is by removing things rather than adding more. Backwards decluttering and house hushing can help you see what your home actually needs by temporarily clearing a room, creating visual quiet, and then intentionally adding back only the things you love and use. In this episode, I’m talking with New York Times bestselling author Myquillyn Smith about why a cozier home doesn’t necessarily mean more stuff...and how embracing cozy minimalism can completely change the way your home feels.

Have you ever walked into a room and thought, Something is bothering me in here...but I can't quite put my finger on it?

Maybe the room isn't technically messy.

    Maybe everything has a place.

    Maybe you've even decorated it.

And yet...it still feels like too much.

That's where my conversation with New York Times bestselling author Myquillyn Smith gets really interesting.

Myquillyn has a completely different way of thinking about decluttering. Instead of starting by deciding what to get rid of, she starts by removing most everything from the room.

Then she creates what she calls a "hush."

And when you can actually experience the room without all the visual noise, you can begin to see what belongs there much more clearly.

It's a fascinating approach to decluttering, but it also made me think differently about decorating.

Because sometimes decorating your home doesn't mean adding something.

Sometimes the most powerful decorating decision you can make is to take something away.

    In This Episode

    •

What backwards decluttering is and how Myquillyn uses it to help you see your home differently

    •

How to "hush" a room by temporarily removing everything from it

    •

Why starting with an empty room can make it easier to decide what actually belongs

    •

The idea that every item in your home has a volume

    •

How to turn the "volume" of your home up or down

    •

    What cozy minimalism really means

    •

Why a cozy home doesn't necessarily need more stuff

    •

How decluttering and decorating can actually work together

    •

Why the things you remove can sometimes have as much impact as the things you add

    •

The simple action Myquillyn wants you to take if you're ready to start decluttering

    Your Action Step

Don't just listen to this episode and think, That was interesting.

    Go try it.

    Choose one room.

And instead of immediately buying something to fix it, start by removing something.

You don't have to empty the entire room if that feels overwhelming. You could start with one surface, one corner, or one category of stuff.

Pay attention to what happens when you create a little more space.

    What feels quieter?

    What suddenly looks better?

    What do you actually miss?

And what...well...you don't miss at all?

    That's information.

And it might be the beginning of a much cozier home.

    About Myquillyn Smith

Myquillyn Smith is a New York Times bestselling author and the creator behind a simpler approach to creating a beautiful, welcoming home. Her work focuses on making home less about perfection and more about creating spaces that support the people who live in them.

The Nancy Meyers Aesthetic: How to Get the Cozy, Collecte Look on a Budget

If you love a home that feels warm, collected, welcoming, and just a little bit effortlessly fabulous, there’s a good chance you love the Nancy Meyers aesthetic. Think cozy kitchens, slipcovered sofas, stacks of books, flowers on the table, soft lighting, and rooms that look like actual people live there.

The good news? You don’t need a Nancy Meyers movie budget to bring some of that magic into your own home. In this episode, I’m breaking down the 7 elements that create the Nancy Meyers look and sharing 10 budget-friendly ways to get the feeling in your own home without redecorating from scratch.

    In This Episode

    •

The 7 decorating elements that make a Nancy Meyers-inspired home feel so warm and inviting

    •

Why warm neutrals are such a big part of the aesthetic

    •

How slipcovered furniture instantly adds that relaxed, collected feeling

    •

The secret to getting that gorgeous, layered lighting

    •

Why books are basically decor in these homes

    •

How natural textures keep neutral spaces from feeling boring

    •

The simple fresh touches that make a home feel alive

    •

Why the kitchen is the true heart of the home

    •

10 budget-friendly ways to bring the Nancy Meyers aesthetic into your own house

The 7 Elements of the Nancy Meyers Aesthetic 1. A warm neutral color palette

Think creamy whites, warm beiges, soft taupes, muted blues and other colors that feel calm and timeless rather than stark or trendy.

    2. Slipcovered seating

Slipcovers give furniture that relaxed, comfortable, come-sit-down feeling that shows up again and again in Nancy Meyers interiors.

    3. Abundant, layered lighting

These rooms rarely rely on one overhead light. Instead, you’ll find lamps, sconces, pendants, and other little pools of light layered throughout the room.

    4. Books everywhere

Books aren't hidden away. They're stacked, shelved, piled on coffee tables and tucked into corners. They add color, personality and, most importantly, the feeling that someone actually lives here.

    5. Natural textures

Jute, sisal, linen, wood, wicker and other natural materials bring warmth and texture to all those beautiful neutrals.

    6. Fresh touches

Flowers, branches, bowls of fruit and other little bits of nature keep these homes from feeling too perfect or static.

    7. The kitchen is the heart of the home

And we're not hiding all the good stuff in cabinets. Pots, cutting boards, wooden utensils, bowls and cooking tools become part of the decor. The kitchen looks like it's ready to be used.

10 Budget-Friendly Ways to Get the Nancy Meyers Look

You don't need to replace your entire house to get this feeling. Start with what you already have.

    1. Slipcover your existing seating.
Before buying a new sofa, see if your current one can get a whole new personality with a slipcover.

    2. Layer your lighting.
Add a table lamp, floor lamp or small accent lamp. The goal is to have several sources of warm, inviting light instead of relying on one overhead fixture.

    3. Thrift furniture or say yes to the hand-me-downs.
That piece of furniture you've always turned down because it's not exactly your style? Take another look. A coat of paint, new hardware or simply placing it in the right room can work wonders.

    4. Bring out your books...and remove the dust jackets.
Hardcover books without their dust jackets often have beautiful, understated covers that instantly add warmth and personality to a room.

    5. Put out bowls of fruit.
A big bowl of lemons, apples, oranges or whatever is in season is an inexpensive way to add color and that fresh, lived-in feeling.

    6. Try a sisal or jute rug.
Natural-fiber rugs add texture and warmth without requiring a complicated pattern or a big decorating budget.

    7. Bring the kitchenware out of hiding.
Display your cutting boards, wooden spoons, pretty bowls and favorite pots. The things you use every day can also be part of the room's personality.

    8. Use mismatched white dishes at dinner.
They don't have to match perfectly. A collection of simple white dishes can feel collected, relaxed and beautiful when they're mixed together.

    9. Replace heavy drapes with something lighter.
Try sheer, linen or linen-look curtains to let more light into the room and create that soft, easy feeling.

    10. Frame botanical prints.
You can find beautiful botanical artwork inexpensively, especially secondhand. A simple frame and a botanical print can bring in that classic, collected look without a major investment.

    The Takeaway

The Nancy Meyers aesthetic isn't really about having a perfectly decorated house. It's about creating a home that feels warm, comfortable, collected and lived in.

And that's the part I hope you take away from this episode.

You don't have to buy all new furniture. You don't need a giant decorating budget. And you definitely don't need to turn your home into a movie set.

Start with what you already have. Add a little texture. Soften the lighting. Put the books on display. Bring the pretty kitchen things out of the cabinets. Add some flowers or a bowl of fruit.

A few small changes can crank up the cozy dial in a big way.

  8. 414 // Why You Might Be Feeling Stuck When Decorating Your Home (And What To Do About It)

    Show notes

Why You Might Be Feeling Stuck When Decorating Your Home (And What to Do About It)

If you feel stuck when decorating your home, the problem probably isn’t that you need more inspiration, better taste, or a bigger budget. More often, you’re stuck because you’re second-guessing your decisions, trying to solve too much at once, or letting a limiting belief keep you from taking the next step. The good news? You can get unstuck by creating a simple plan and taking one small, confident step forward.

I’ve seen this happen again and again with women who want a cozy, welcoming home but just can’t seem to get from “I know what I like” to actually making it happen.

And recently, I watched it happen with about 10 women who were willing to take that first step.

They came into the process with different homes, different budgets, different decorating styles, and very different reasons for feeling stuck.

But underneath it all were some surprisingly familiar limiting beliefs.

    Things like:

    • “I don’t know where to start.”
    • “I’m afraid I’ll make the wrong decision.”
    • “I love color but I don't know how to bring it in to my home.”
    • “I can’t afford to do what I want.”
    • “I should be able to figure this out myself.”
    • “What if I buy something and hate it?”
    • “I have kids and pets so I can't have nice things.”

Once they stopped letting those thoughts run the decorating show, things started to change.

    In This Episode

    • Why having tons of decorating inspiration can actually make you feel more stuck
    • The limiting beliefs that can keep you from making decisions in your home
    • What happened when 10 women took the first step instead of waiting until they had the whole plan figured out
    • The difference between knowing what you like and knowing what to do next
    • How to stop second-guessing your decorating decisions
    • Why a cozy home isn't about having more stuff or spending more money
    • An introduction to the Cozy Home Reset and how it can help you move from decorating overwhelm to cozy confidence

Why You're Feeling Stuck Decorating Your Home

Here's something I want you to hear if you've been staring at the same room for months, saving ideas on Pinterest, buying a few things here and there, and still wondering why your home doesn't feel finished:

You are probably not lacking inspiration.

You might actually have too much of it.

You've saved the rooms. You've pinned the paint colors. You've found the rug. You've looked at the pretty kitchens and cozy living rooms and bedrooms and thought, YES. That's what I want.

But inspiration doesn't tell you what to do next. And that's where so many women get stuck. You don't need another 47 saved images. You need to make a decision. Then another one.

    Then another.

And you need to know that those decisions are moving you toward a home that feels cohesive, comfortable, welcoming, and like a place you're proud to live in.

The Limiting Beliefs That Keep Us Stuck

The women I worked with recently reminded me just how powerful our thoughts can be when we're decorating. Because sometimes the thing standing between you and the room you want isn't the room. It's the story you're telling yourself about the room.

Maybe you believe you have to have a big budget.

Maybe you think you need to know your decorating style before you can make a single decision.

Maybe you're afraid of getting it wrong.

Maybe you've convinced yourself that because you're not a designer, you shouldn't trust your own instincts.

Or maybe you've simply been trying to solve your entire house at once.

Those beliefs can keep you circling the same decisions for years. But when you take one step, you create momentum. And momentum creates confidence. And confidence makes the next decision easier. That's what I saw happen with these women.

    The Cozy Home Reset

This is also why I created the Cozy Home Reset.

It's for the woman who is ready to stop collecting inspiration and actually start making progress in her home. The Reset isn't about transforming your entire house overnight. Instead, we start with one room and one clear plan.

We'll look at what you already have, what you want your home to feel like, what's working, what's not, and what needs to happen next.

You'll get a 60-minute one-on-one Room Reset Call with me, along with six months inside the Cozy Home Collective so you have support as you put your plan into action.

The goal isn't perfection. It's cozy confidence. It's knowing what to do next, making decisions you feel good about, and finally seeing your home come together in a way that feels like you.

If you've been stuck, you don't need to wait until you have more time, more money, or more decorating knowledge.

You just need to take the first step.

    Ready to get unstuck?

    Show notes

Caution: This Decorating Process May Cause You to Fall in Love With Your Home!! ! What happens when you finally feel confident decorating your home?

When you understand how to make decorating decisions that actually fit your home, your style and the way you live, decorating can become much less overwhelming...and a whole lot more delightful. The women featured in this episode discovered that creating a home they love wasn't about having perfect taste or an unlimited budget. It was about having a process, a plan and the confidence to move forward.

    And apparently...that can be contagious.

I've spent a lot of time talking to you about what it looks like to create a cozy home, but sometimes I think the best way to understand the process is to hear from the women who've actually done it.

So today, you're going to meet Susan, Loraine and Nicole.

Three women. Three homes. Three very different starting points.

But they all had something in common...

They wanted to love their homes more.

They wanted to stop second-guessing themselves.

And they wanted someone to help them see what they couldn't quite see on their own.

In these conversations, they share what changed, what surprised them, what it was like to work with me and what happened when they finally had a process they could trust.

And honestly...I think you'll hear something really important in their stories:

You don't have to be naturally "good at decorating" to create a home that delights you.

Sometimes you just need someone to help you see what's possible.

    In this episode, you'll hear:

    •

Susan's experience transforming her home and how she feels about the changes

    •

Loraine's story and the shift that happened when decorating started to feel less overwhelming

    •

Nicole's experience working through the process and seeing her home differently

    •

What these women learned about trusting their own decorating instincts

    •

What it can feel like when your home finally starts to reflect you

    A little reminder...

If you've been listening to me talk about creating a cozy home and thinking, "That sounds lovely, but I don't know where to start," you're exactly who I created the Cozy Home Workshop for.

We're going to take some of the mystery and overwhelm out of decorating and help you understand what your home needs...so you can stop staring at Pinterest and start making progress in your own house.

The Cozy Home Workshop is happening NEXT WEEK.

If you've been waiting for a sign to take that first step, perhaps this is it.

And as Susan, Loraine and Nicole will tell you...that first step can lead to a whole lot more than a prettier room.

    It can lead to delight.

Listen, then take the next step

If you're ready to learn how to create a home that feels cohesive, personal and cozy...come join me for the Cozy Home Workshop.

You'll leave with a clearer understanding of what your home needs and practical steps you can actually take to move forward.

  11. 411 // Feel Confident Decorating your Home (Even if You Don't Trust your Own Style Yet)

    Show notes

How to Feel Confident Decorating Your Home (Even If You Don't Trust Your Own Taste Yet)

How do you become more confident decorating your home?

You become more confident when you stop relying on endless inspiration and start learning a simple process for making decorating decisions. Confidence doesn't come from suddenly knowing exactly what to buy or having perfect taste...it comes from understanding your own style, making decisions, and learning to trust yourself along the way.

Have you ever looked at a room in your home and thought, I know what I like when I see it...I just don't know how to make it happen in my house?

Maybe you've saved hundreds of beautiful rooms on Pinterest. Maybe you've taken the quizzes, followed the designers, wandered through HomeGoods and Target, and still find yourself standing in your own living room wondering what the heck you're supposed to do.

    Here's the thing...

You probably don't need more inspiration.

    You need confidence.

And sometimes, the easiest way to begin building your own confidence is to borrow someone else's for a little while.

In this episode, I'm talking about what actually changes when you start trusting yourself with your home...and why having someone walk alongside you can help you build the confidence to eventually make those decisions on your own.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

    • Why more Pinterest inspiration isn't necessarily going to make you more confident decorating your home
    • How having a process can help you stop second-guessing every decorating decision
    • Why past decorating attempts that didn't stick aren't proof that you're bad at decorating
    • What to do when you feel like you don't have enough time to tackle your home
    • How borrowing someone else's confidence can help you begin building your own
    • Why you don't need to overhaul your entire house to start making meaningful progress

You don't need to become a completely different person to create a home you're proud of.

    You don't need perfect taste.

You don't need a giant budget.

And you definitely don't need another 400 Pinterest pins.

You need a way to make decisions...and enough confidence to make the next one.

Because eventually, the goal isn't to need Dani to tell you what to do.

The goal is to learn enough that you can look at your own home and think, "I know what this needs."

And that is a very different kind of decorating confidence.

Something is coming very soon that was created specifically to help you get there...and I'll be sharing more about it next week.

    Keep listening

If you've been wanting to feel more confident in your home but aren't sure where to begin, start with the episodes and resources inside the Cozy Home Collective. You'll find simple decorating education, ongoing support, and a place to keep learning at your own pace.

And if you're brand new to my world, The Cozy Home Method is the foundation behind the way I teach decorating...helping you create a home that feels cohesive, personal, and cozy without making decorating harder than it needs to be.

  12. 410 // Aesthetic vs. Design Style: The One Distinction That Ends Decision Fatigue and Builds Confidence

    Show notes

You've taken the quizzes. You've saved 400 pins. You still don't know what your home is supposed to look like — and it's not because you lack taste.

In this episode, I'm naming the real reason you feel stuck in your home (hint: it's not motivation, and it's not you). We're breaking down the three things quietly sabotaging every decision you try to make — decision fatigue from endless online options, the lingering fear from a past decorating mistake, and generic advice that was never built for your actual life.

Then I'm teaching you the distinction that changes everything: aesthetic vs. design style. Design style labels — farmhouse, coastal, transitional — are generic categories assigned by big box stores and algorithms. They tell you what to buy. Your aesthetic is different: it's personal, specific, and it accounts for how you actually live. Once you know the difference, you stop shopping for a label and start designing for your life.

    In this episode:

    • Why "more options" online is making home decor decisions harder, not easier
    • The hidden cost of a past decorating mistake (and why it's silently running your choices)
    • Why design style quizzes give you a category, not a plan
    • The real difference between aesthetic and design style — and how to start identifying yours
    • Why the right filter makes decisions easier, not because you have more information, but because you finally know what to say no to

If you've ever stood in a half-decorated room wondering where to even start, this episode will show you why — and what actually needs to shift.

Next week: what it actually looks like on the other side of stuck.

    Show notes

My $1,000 Decorating Mistake (And the Lesson I Almost Missed)

In today's episode we're talking about mistakes...I have a lot to choose from, but I'm focusing on one that cost $1000 and became an apparent mistake about two years after making this particular decision.

I share honestly about one of my most expensive decorating mistakes: what I bought, why it felt so right in the moment, and the moment reality set in. But this isn't just a "don't do what I did" story. It's about what that mistake accidentally taught me about the difference between decorating for a trend and decorating for yourself, a lesson that ended up reshaping how I teach decorating altogether.

    In this episode, I cover:

    • The full story behind my $1,000 decorating mistake
    • Why the purchase felt so right at the time, and what was actually happening underneath that decision
    • What this mistake taught me about aesthetic vs. design style
    • Why costly mistakes aren't a sign you have bad taste, they're often a sign you're decorating for the wrong thing entirely

    Perfect for you if:

    • You've made a decorating purchase you regret and haven't fully let go of the sting
    • You second-guess decisions because of a past mistake
    • You're tired of decorating advice that doesn't account for how you actually live

    A heads up:
This episode kicks off a short series here on the podcast. Next episode, we're getting into exactly why so many capable, smart women get stuck decorating in the first place.

In this episode, we're tackling questions like:

    • How do you style bookshelves so they look collected instead of cluttered?
    • Should you paint your brick fireplace...or leave it alone?
    • What's the best size and placement for an area rug?
    • How do you know if your window treatments are helping—or hurting—your room?

If you've ever wrestled with any of those questions, chances are you'll hear an answer that applies to your home too.

✨✨ This is also your last call. ✨✨

As you've probably heard me mention over the last couple of weeks, the way I work with clients is changing this fall.

That means The Collective and Decorating SOS Calls are available at their current pricing for the last time.

It's not more decorating advice that creates the biggest transformation.

    It's having a clear path.

Today's episode is a little different than usual because I'm taking you behind the scenes to share an exciting change that's coming to fig & farm (at home) this fall—and what it means for you.

If you've ever thought about joining The Collective or booking a Decorating SOS Call, I also want to make sure you know about a few important changes happening before September.

This isn't about creating urgency for the sake of urgency.

It's simply about making sure you have all the information before things change.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

    • Why I'm simplifying the way I help women decorate their homes.
    • What I've learned after years of coaching hundreds of women.
    • The exciting new direction coming to fig & farm (at home) this September.
    • What changes are happening to my current offers.
    • Why now is the best time to join The Collective or schedule a Decorating SOS Call if you've been thinking about it.
    • A first look at The Cozy Home Reset and why I'm so excited to share more soon.

    Here's what's changing:

    ✨ The Collective

If you've been wanting ongoing decorating support, monthly lessons, decorating challenges and live coaching calls, now is the time to join.

Current members—and anyone who joins before July 26th—will keep today's pricing of $12/month for as long as they remain a member.

    ✨ Decorating SOS Call

Need help getting unstuck in one specific room?

We'll spend 60 minutes together creating a clear plan for your space so you know exactly what to do next.

The current investment of $127 is available through July 26th. After that, this offer will no longer be publicly available in its current form, and future 1:1 sessions will be offered differently.

    Looking Ahead

Beginning this September, I'll be introducing something I've been building behind the scenes:

    The Cozy Home Reset.

I can't wait to share everything with you, but for now, just know this...

It's designed to be the clearest, simplest path I've ever created to help you build a home that feels like you.

  18. 404 // Why Your Home Never Feels Quite Right (And the Simple Exercise That Fixes It!)

    Show notes

What Do You Want Your Home to Feel Like This Fall?

Before you think about pumpkins, cozy throws, or fall decorating trends, I want to ask you one simple question:

What do you want your home to feel like this fall?

Not what you want it to look like.
Not what color palette is trending.
Not what Pinterest says your home should be.

How do you want it to feel?

In today's episode, we're slowing down long enough to answer that question together. Because the truth is, most decorating frustration doesn't come from choosing the wrong paint color or buying the wrong pillow—it comes from making decorating decisions without a clear vision for how we want our homes to support the life we're living.

I'll walk you through one of the very first exercises I use with my private clients: identifying three feeling words that become the filter for every decorating decision you make.

Once you know those three words, decorating becomes simpler, shopping becomes more intentional, and your home starts feeling like you.

    In this episode, we'll cover:

    • Why most women start decorating in the wrong place.
    • The powerful question I ask every client before we talk about furniture, paint, or style.
    • A simple exercise to help you uncover the feeling you're actually trying to create at home.
    • How three feeling words can become your decorating compass.
    • Why this exercise is especially important before fall decorating season begins.
    • How to avoid buying seasonal décor that looks beautiful but never feels quite right in your own home.

    Your Takeaway

Before you buy a single piece of fall décor, take a few quiet minutes to identify your three feeling words.

    Some examples:

    • Cozy
    • Calm
    • Warm
    • Collected
    • Layered
    • Grounded
    • Playful
    • Romantic
    • Serene
    • Lived-in
    • Effortless
    • Curated

Then ask yourself one simple question every time you're tempted to buy something:

"Does this support the way I want my home to feel?"

It might be the simplest decorating framework you'll ever use—and one that can completely change the way you decorate.

  19. 403 // The Secret to a Home That Is Always Company Ready (Without Looking Like a Showroom)

    Show notes

Ever get that text — "Hey, we're in the neighborhood, mind if we stop by?" — and feel your stomach drop?

You're not alone. Getting your home guest ready on a moment's notice feels overwhelming when you don't have a system. But here's the truth: a company-ready home isn't about having a perfect home. It's about having an intentional one.

In this episode, I walk you through exactly how to reset your home in minutes — and how to set it up so that guest-ready is basically its natural resting state.

What You'll Learn in This Episode:

    • Why "guest ready" doesn't mean perfect — and the mindset shift that takes the pressure off for good
    • The 5 zones that actually matter when guests come over (and why you can let the rest go)
    • The 20-minute reset: a go-to order of operations so you're never running around randomly
    • The clutter basket trick that will change your life
    • Why smell is your home's very first impression — and how to make it a good one
    • The one lighting swap that makes every room feel warmer and more intentional instantly
    • How to create "company corners" — 2-3 spots that are always styled so the rest of the room feels pulled together even when it isn't
    • The four bathroom non-negotiables guests actually notice
    • Why a $5 bunch of grocery store flowers does more than you'd think

The 20-Minute Reset Order of Operations:

    • Light a candle, set a diffuser or start a simmering pot
    • Clear and wipe surfaces (don't forget the basket)
    • Quick sweep (both with eyes and a broom/vacuum)
    • Attention to seating areas (couch: fluff pillows, dining: wipe chairs)
    • Fresh towel in the bathroom
    • Turn off overhead lights and turn on lamps
