  2. Why You Can't Save Money | Family Budgeting That Works

    Episode 68

    Show notes

Family budgeting and saving strategies can feel impossible when saving happens last. Jon explains how lifestyle creep and unplanned spending quietly shrink your financial margin—and why earning more may not fix the problem. Learn practical, biblical ways to give saving a place in your budget and take a more intentional approach to money management.

You get paid, cover the bills, buy groceries, spend a little here and there—and somehow the month ends with nothing left to save.

    Sound familiar?

For many families, the problem is not a lack of desire to save. It is that saving happens last.

You’ll also hear how a few simple saving strategies can help you become more intentional with the money God has entrusted to you.

    We’ll talk about:

    •

Why “saving what’s left” often fails

    •

How lifestyle creep affects your finances

    •

Why impulse spending matters more than you may realize

    •

How simple systems can make saving easier

    •

Why giving your savings a purpose matters

    •

How Christians can save wisely without putting their trust in money

The challenge for this week is simple: take a look at where your money has been going and ask whether saving is truly a priority—or just something you hope will happen at the end of the month.

Saving doesn’t happen because money is left over. Money gets left over because you decided saving was a priority.

  3. What Does it Mean to Save Money | Budget Coaching for Clarity

    Episode 67

    Show notes

    “I need to save money.”

Most of us have said it. But what do we actually mean when we say it?

Do we mean spending less at restaurants? Finding cheaper insurance? Putting money into a savings account? Preparing for an emergency? Saving for Christmas? Or simply creating more breathing room in the monthly budget?

The phrase “save money” can describe a lot of different financial decisions—and understanding the difference can help you make better choices with the money God has entrusted to you.

In this episode of Financial Coaching for Kingdom Men, Jon kicks off a new series on saving by looking at the many different ways we use the phrase “save money” and why each one requires a different strategy.

    What You’ll Learn

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    •

Why spending less is not always the same as actually saving money

    •

The difference between getting a discount and building savings

    •

How lowering recurring expenses can improve monthly cash flow

    •

Why avoiding waste is an important part of biblical stewardship

    •

How setting money aside creates intentional preparation for the future

    •

The difference between emergency savings and saving for known expenses

    •

How savings buckets can help prepare for expenses like Christmas, car repairs, insurance premiums, and home maintenance

    •

Why creating margin in your budget can reduce financial stress

    •

How spending wisely today can sometimes prevent much larger expenses tomorrow

One important reminder from this episode:

Money you don’t spend isn’t automatically money you saved.

What Kind of Saving Do You Need?

Instead of simply saying, “I need to save more money,” ask yourself:

What problem am I actually trying to solve?

Do you need to reduce spending?

    Build an emergency fund?

    Prepare for a known expense?

    Create more monthly margin?

    Save for a specific goal?

    Eliminate waste?

    Lower recurring expenses?

Identifying the real goal makes it much easier to choose the right strategy.

    Biblical Stewardship and Saving

    Proverbs 21:20 says:

“Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man’s dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.”

Biblical saving is not about fear or trusting your bank account more than God.

It is about wisely managing what God has already placed in your hands.

Wise stewardship asks an important question:

Am I consuming everything God gives me today, or am I intentionally preparing for tomorrow?

    The Big Takeaway

Saving money isn’t just about putting money into a savings account.

Saving is intentionally choosing not to consume everything you have today so that you are better prepared to steward tomorrow.

This episode begins a new series on saving. In the coming episodes, we’ll talk about emergency funds, savings goals, savings buckets, how much to save, where to keep savings, and how saving fits alongside giving, debt payoff, and enjoying the money God has entrusted to you.

  4. Financial Anxiety Robbing You? | Budget Coaching for Kingdom Peace

    Episode 66

    Show notes

Can’t sleep because you’re worried about money? Financial stress can affect far more than your bank account. It can steal your sleep, strain your marriage, and leave you wondering whether you’re doing enough as a husband and father.

In this episode of Financial Coaching for Kingdom Men, Jon shares from seasons when his family worked hard, lived frugally, and still watched the numbers come up short. God continued to provide—but those years revealed just how easily financial pressure can turn into anxiety, shame, and a desire to control what only God can control.

You’ll hear how biblical stewardship, prayer, budgeting, communication with your spouse, and remembering God’s past faithfulness can help you respond differently when financial stress hits.

Financial peace isn’t ultimately found in reaching a certain number in your bank account. It begins with faithfully managing what God has entrusted to you while learning to trust Him with what you cannot control.

    What You’ll Learn

    •

Why money stress can become an identity issue for husbands and fathers

    •

The difference between financial concern and financial anxiety

    •

How shame can keep you stuck and isolated

    •

Why making more money doesn’t automatically create financial peace

    •

How prayer, budgeting, and communication with your spouse can reduce financial stress

    •

Why generosity can become an act of trust and worship

    •

How to make a wise financial plan without believing everything depends on you

    •

What Matthew 6:25–34 teaches about worry, provision, and trusting God

    Who This Episode Is For

This episode is for Christian men, husbands, and fathers who feel the weight of providing for their families.

If you’re losing sleep over bills, debt, unexpected expenses, your budget, or whether you’re doing enough financially, this episode will help you approach those concerns through biblical financial wisdom rather than fear and shame.

    Scripture Challenge

    Read Matthew 6:25–34 this week.

Before checking your bank account, email, or phone in the morning, choose a verse from this passage and pray through it.

    Then ask yourself:

Have I faithfully done what God has given me responsibility to do today—and am I willing to trust Him with tomorrow?

  9. How to Start an Emergency Fund | Faith-Based Financial Peace

    Episode 61

    Show notes

Emergency funds aren't just savings accounts—they're tools of biblical stewardship. In this episode, Jon explains why Kingdom men need an emergency fund, how to start one even on a tight budget, and why it's the first step toward financial peace and family protection. One unexpected car repair, medical bill, or home expense can quickly turn into credit card debt, financial stress, and tension in your marriage. But when your family has an emergency fund, those surprises become manageable inconveniences instead of financial crises.

In this episode you will learn why biblical preparation is not fear, how to build your first $1,000 starter emergency fund, and how to decide what qualifies as a true emergency.

An emergency fund does not prevent difficult situations from happening. It gives your family the margin to respond calmly, protect your debt payoff plan, and continue moving forward with wisdom.

    •

Why emergency fund setup is an essential part of biblical financial stewardship

    •

How savings can protect your marriage, budget, and financial peace

    •

How to rebuild the fund after you use it

    •

How to talk with your spouse about building financial protection

Proverbs 27:12 reminds us that prudent people recognize danger and prepare for it.

First Timothy 5:8 reminds men of their responsibility to provide for and care for their households.

Saving money is not a rejection of faith. An emergency fund is not a monument to self-reliance. It is a practical tool for faithful stewardship.

  10. Leading Without Controlling | Financial Unity in Marriage

    Episode 60

    Show notes

Many Kingdom men struggle with the same tension: how do you lead your family's finances and provide biblical authority without becoming controlling? In this episode, Jon Langlois breaks down the difference between healthy financial leadership and domination, offering practical strategies to build spousal money disagreements into partnership. Learn how to guide your family toward financial unity without shutting down communication or alienating your spouse.

Many men feel a real tension when it comes to leading their homes financially. They know they should not be passive. They should not ignore the budget, avoid hard conversations, leave all the financial pressure on their wife, or only show up when there is a crisis. But they also do not want to become harsh, controlling, demanding, or make their wife feel like she has no voice.

So what does biblical financial leadership actually look like?

In this episode, we talk about how Christian husbands and fathers can lead the family budget with confidence, humility, clarity, and love. Biblical leadership is not passivity, and it is not control. It is taking responsibility for stewardship, communication, direction, and unity in the home.

We will look at the difference between passive financial leadership and controlling financial leadership, why men often fall into one of those two patterns, and how to use the C.L.E.A.R. framework to lead money conversations in a healthier way.

This episode is for the man who wants to guide his household well, honor his wife, reduce financial tension, and build a budget that reflects biblical wisdom instead of fear, pride, or avoidance.

Why passivity and control are both unhealthy forms of financial leadership

How Ephesians 5:25 & 28 shape biblical leadership at home

Why your wife is not an obstacle to your leadership, but your closest counselor in the home

How fear, stress, shame, pride, or past money pain can turn leadership into control

Why some men avoid the family budget even when they know they need to step up

  11. Find Money in Your Budget | Maximize Income Without Earning More

    Episode 59

    Show notes

Many men think the only way to fix their budget is to make more money. But sometimes the first breakthrough is not more income. Sometimes it is better stewardship.

In this episode, Coach Jon helps Christian husbands and fathers find extra money inside the income they already have. You may already have dollars available for debt payoff, emergency savings, generosity, or family goals, but those dollars may be hiding in subscriptions, impulse purchases, convenience spending, lifestyle drift, poor planning, or expenses that no longer match your priorities.

This episode is rooted in Proverbs 16, especially the reminder that “all the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.” Most of us can justify almost any expense. We can justify eating out, subscriptions, hobbies, upgrades, convenience, tools, kids’ activities, and “because I deserve it” purchases. But the deeper question is not, “Can I explain this expense?” The better question is, “Would the Lord call this wise and faithful stewardship?”

This is not about shame, restriction, or cutting everything your family enjoys. It is about surrendering your budget to the Lord, asking Him to expose money leaks, pride excuses, and undisciplined appetites, and then redirecting those dollars toward what actually matters. Finding money in your budget is not about living smaller. It is about living more faithfully.

    What You’ll Learn

How to find hidden money inside your current income

Why most budgets leak quietly through small, repeated decisions

How Proverbs 16 helps Christian men examine their spending motives

Why surrender should come before spreadsheets

The difference between restriction and optimization

How to cut waste without cutting what matters most

Why every freed-up dollar needs a new assignment

How pride and appetite can quietly destroy financial margin

How to use a simple Margin Audit to review your spending

How to identify expenses to keep, cut, or reduce

Why shame does not build a better budget, but stewardship does

How financial margin creates options, peace, generosity, and debt payoff momentum

How to complete the 7-Day Margin Challenge

    Proverbs Challenge

This week, read Proverbs 16 and ask the Lord to search your budget, not just your bank account.

Proverbs 16:16 says wisdom is better than gold, and understanding is better than silver. So do not just look for more money this week. Ask God for more wisdom with the money already in your hands.

    Closing CTA

You may not be able to increase your income this week, but you can increase your intentionality.

You can look at your numbers. You can stop the leaks. You can discipline your appetite. You can protect what matters. You can give every freed-up dollar a mission.

A strong man does not need to hide from the numbers. He can bring them before the Lord and say, “Search this. Weigh this. Lead me in wisdom.”

Perfect for faith-driven dads and couples ready to build wealth without the burnout. Are you tired of starting a budget with good intentions, only to feel restricted, frustrated, or burned out a few weeks later?

For many Christian families, the problem is not laziness. The problem is that the budget is built like a crash diet. It is too rigid, too intense, and too disconnected from real life. A budget that only works when life is perfect is not a sustainable budget.

In this episode of Financial Coaching for Kingdom Men, we talk about biblical financial wisdom, Christian family budgeting, and how faith-driven dads, husbands, and couples can build a money management rhythm that actually lasts. You do not need a perfect budget. You need a sustainable system that helps you lead your family with wisdom, peace, consistency, financial discipline, and faithful stewardship.

We will look at why most budgets burn people out, how to shift from a restriction mindset to a stewardship mindset, why grace and discipline must work together, and how to build margin into your financial plan. This episode also includes the Proverbs Challenge with Proverbs 10, helping you connect biblical wisdom to practical budgeting help, debt freedom, generosity, and stronger money leadership in your home.

    •

How to tell the difference between a restriction mindset and a stewardship mindset

    •

How margin protects your family from financial chaos

    •

Why a simple, repeatable budget is usually better than a complicated one

    •

How budgeting becomes an act of leadership for husbands and fathers

What to do when budget fatigue hits and you feel like quitting

    •

How Proverbs 10 connects wisdom, diligence, speech, and faithful living to your financial habits

  13. How to Stop Money Fights and Build Financial Unity in Marriage

    Episode 57

    Show notes

Most money problems in marriage are not actually money problems. They are communication problems.

Many couples argue about spending, saving, debt management, budgeting habits, and financial priorities, but underneath the numbers are deeper issues: expectations, trust, leadership, communication, and shared direction. For Kingdom men, financial leadership is not about control. It is about applying biblical money principles, practicing financial stewardship, and helping the family move together toward a healthier financial future.

In this episode of Financial Coaching for Kingdom Men, Jon talks about three of the most common money disagreements couples face: the spender vs. saver conflict, lack of financial communication, and different financial priorities. Through a practical, faith-based coaching lens, he shows how biblical financial stewardship can help husbands lead with humility, wisdom, and clarity.

This conversation is for men who want more than surface-level money management learning. It is about building stronger Christian money habits, creating better financial habits at home, and using faith-based budgeting as a tool for unity instead of tension. The goal is not winning money arguments. The goal is building financial unity through communication, stewardship of money, and shared biblical financial principles.

You will also learn how a simple weekly Money Meeting can help couples practice faith-based money management, talk through financial goals, review spending, prepare for upcoming expenses, and build trust one conversation at a time.

    What You’ll Learn

    •

Why many marriage money fights are really communication fights

    •

What financial unity means through the lens of biblical money stewardship

    •

How Christian husbands can lead financially without controlling

    •

Why spender vs. saver tension does not have to divide your marriage

    •

How faith-based budgeting creates clarity before conflict starts

    •

Why shared priorities matter in Christian financial stewardship

    •

How weekly Money Meetings help couples build better money habits

    •

How biblical coaching and habit coaching can support real men’s life change

    •

Why financial peace is built through small, consistent conversations

    •

How financial stewardship principles shape a stronger family legacy

    Who This Episode Is For

This episode is for Christian husbands, fathers, and Kingdom men who want to grow in financial stewardship, biblical money management, and faith-based habits at home.

It is especially helpful for men who feel tension in their marriage around spending, saving, budgeting, debt, or financial priorities. If you want practical financial coaching, biblical financial principles, and better money habits coaching for your family, this episode will help you slow down, communicate better, and lead with humility.

It is also for men who are serious about habit change, financial legacy, faith and money management, and building a home shaped by biblical stewardship rather than financial stress.

  15. Budgeting Mistakes: Fixed vs. Variable Expenses Impacting Family Finances

    Episode 55

    Show notes

If your finances feel unpredictable every month, it may not be because your income changes — it may be because your expenses aren’t organized correctly.

In this episode of Financial Coaching for Kingdom Men, we break down one of the most overlooked areas of budgeting skills and family finance: understanding the difference between fixed expenses, variable expenses, and predictable future costs.

This episode combines practical budget coaching, Biblical money principles, and real-world financial systems to help you create clarity, flexibility, and peace in your finances.

    Episode 51

    Show notes

Most men don’t fail financially because they lack income—they fail because they lack a clear, disciplined plan. And Scripture doesn’t stay silent on that.

In this episode, we bring together two things that should never be separated: a simple, practical budgeting system and the biblical truth of Proverbs 28. You’ll learn how to build a one-page budget that actually works, while also understanding what God says about integrity, discipline, stewardship, and money.

This is more than organizing numbers. It’s about leading your finances as a Kingdom man—choosing integrity over image, discipline over impulse, and faithfulness over shortcuts. If you’ve been inconsistent, reactive, or unsure where your money is going, this episode will challenge you to step into a clear, repeatable plan rooted in biblical wisdom.

    What You’ll Learn:

    •

How to build a simple, zero-based budget that works every month

    •

Why budgeting is a matter of integrity and stewardship, not just math
