First Respodcast: A 9-1-1 Watch-Along

WE'VE FINALLY MADE IT!!! We've finally summited the arduous mountain that is season six of 9-1-1. It truly felt like it would never end. Hear us discuss the underwhelming finale to this underwhelming season. They really thought they were going to end the ENTIRE SHOW with THIS?! A season so bad, we're taking a hiatus after this.

Heterosexuality is in the air! The 118 race to the rescue and, like, guys... imagine how tired we are. Not even a BASE jump-turned marriage proposal gone wrong can save the good, quiet-quitting people at 9-1-1 from the perils of mediocrity, but hey. We'll always have Natalia.

This week's season 6 episode is completely middle-of-the-road. But we were able to find some entertainment in our new OC Junkyard Jim, the sizzling pairing of Eddie and Ravi, and the evergreen Oscars debate.

This week, we're pretty much back to boring season 6 episodes. Eddie tries to schedule a visit with his mom who sucks, Buck gets a love interest that he has negative chemistry with, and Athena dully tries to detain the dreaded Dominic Dawson, denounced for his dastardly deeds, but determines him decidedly deceased. But at least there's a reasonably fun, Everything Everywhere All At Once-style, 'Maddie and Chimney get audited' subplot.

You can take a breath of fresh air this week, because this episode of season 6 was actually alright!!! Finally, an episode that doesn't suck. This episode had an actual story, emotional stakes, and even an Eddie who is going to be gay. Feels pretty damn good.

This week, in one of 9-1-1's stupidest chapters, Buck has a ham-fisted It's a Wonderful Life alternate-reality coma dream. For no reason! It stinks!

Hear us discuss season 6's NOT Halloween episode, Cursed. An episode with an okay A plot in which Eddie actually gets close to having chemistry with a woman! Unfortunately, the B plot is just a deluge of unwanted information about Buck's jizz. If you're going to write an episode all about Buck's come, at LEAST make it homoerotic. Boo!!!

Buckle up for one of our most negative nancy episodes yet. We were tragically not impressed by 9-1-1's Henren-focused, 'N.A.S.A. gets exploded' episode. But at least they used the original version of Mustang Sally.

Join us for a classic 'Ryan and Jane complain for over 90 minutes' First Respodcast episode. Sorry! It's season 6! Take us as we are or leave us! We talked a lot about Buck's sperm AND came up with a brand new Buddie household item theory, does that make up for it??

CONTENT WARNING: This episode includes non-graphic discussion of CSA/pedophilia and child murder. It's a heavy episode of 9-1-1! We don't go into much detail but viewer discretion is advised. No timestamps because it's more like the general plot of the episode we're discussing than specific moments.

This week we cover one of 9-1-1's most harrowing (and in our opinion, effective) episodes: the culmination of Athena's life-long goal to solve the disappearance of her childhood neighbor. It's an episode with endless southern gothic orange grove atmosphere, supportive husband Bobby, and only the most tasteful of needle drops.

We're crashing and learning this week discussing the 9-1-1 episode Crash and Learn. We have mixed feelings! While Athena does awesome moody Southern gothic things in her hometown, the 118 respond to some really lame calls, Buck is annoying, and Hen almost dies trying to be a doctor and a paramedic at the same time. The moral of the story? We're really excited for next week's episode.
