Fix Your Heart Or Die!

Looking for a different kind of spooky to spice up your Halloween? Look no further than the shattering psychological terror of Perfect Blue! Resident anime aficionado Allen Ortega joins for an extremely in-depth look at the first feature film of Satoshi Kon's tragically-short career.

As with most Lynchian tales, Mima Kirigoe's transition from pop idol to primetime actress is fraught with dreamy dissociation, sexual assault, and several shatterings of her sense of self. Her very own Twin Peaks "Invitation to Love" known as Double Bind serves a televisual mirror, and a portal into darkest depths of depravity inflicted by the entertainment industry.

Find out why special guest Allen Ortega still calls it "a top ten film and comfort watch" despite these challenging themes and mind-bending scenes in an all-new kind of Fix Your Heart Or Die!

It's a brand-new FYHOD bonus show! In this non-Lynchian subseries, we proud Uncs bring our Slop to the table for the younger generations, to show them that some classics are GOATed for good reason. We bust down the walls of gatekeeping and invite newcomers to discover things at their own pace, within their own taste.

First on the docket is AKIRA which feels even more cutting-edge and modern than it did back in 1988. This lavishly-animated, action-packed epic packs a transcendent soundtrack, and is loaded to the gills with relatable messages about passing down the power of empathy to overcome the sins of the past.

Also: badass motorcycles and gnarly body horror, to boot!

Shy the Fox and Daniel the Sanford are Laura Kate Dale's friends, as they grasp at straws for Lynch-y threads within 3 mathematical episodes of Cartoon Network's smash-hit Adventure Time.

Fox follows the electric roads of David Lynch's Lost Highway all the way to the batteries of a sentient GameBoy in "BMO Noire". Laura visits the Red Room for some golden apples in "Who Would Win". Sanfordalamenti shatters the mirror to overcome his chicken-kissin' doppelgänger in "Football".

HEY FOLKS, SHY FOX HERE!

We are currently hard at work on the next mainline FYHOD and the season finale of "Fish in the Percolator"! In the meantime, we present to you a special BONUS episode from our alternate-universe archives.

In this other universe, I hosted a show called "The Dead Pixels Podcast" with a friend I met in the Sterling/Jonathan "Shattered" community. This show aimed to find the best qualities of bad and underrated games, and find out what made them special even if the end-result was less-than-ideal. In this decade-old episode, we covered the underrated, charming pirate adventure "Skull & Crossbones" for the NES.

Tune in for the thrilling tale of One Eye and Red Dog sailing the high seas to rescue princesses from wizards, or something!

The main series of Fix Your Heart Or Die! returns to cover a recent release, and the most Lyncian zombie flick in history: 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. This sequel--released perhaps too hot on the heels of hit legacy revival 28 Years Later--covers thematic ground hitherto unexplored by its genre. And so much of that ground just happens to connect to the moon (and by proxy David Lynch)!

So follow Fox, Laura, and Marcy across the narrow strait into the bone zone, to hear all about how the lore of Teletubbies, paedo philanthropists, and Satan himself are more relevant than ever in the world of this franchise's post-apocalypse (and our own).

The spirit of springtime foolery has possessed the FYHOD friends once again! So Fox and Laura have recruited Danielo Sanfordalamenti and Jane Aerith Magnet-Dale to conduct a VERY SERIOUS investigation into the top-secret connections between the Twin Peaks Season 2 finale, and the shockingly-Lynchian 1994 family film The Flintstones.

Will Evil Dale Cooper--disguised as villainous businessman "Cliff Vandercave"--succeed in using the powers of the Black Lodge to change the course of stone-age history forever? Will Fred and Barney survive their fateful encounter with a non-David "Lynch Mob"? And why does the soundtrack to the Super Nintendo game based on this movie SLAP SO HARD?

Tune into a very special FYHOD for answers to these questions and many, many more.

What's the opposite of Lynch's Log? GOL S'CHNYL! In this subseries, the FYHOD! gang goes back in time, to look at works that influenced David Lynch, before he transformed pop-culture with Twin Peaks.

It's back to the unfathomable depths of the Ingmar Bergman well, with his follow-up to Persona (1968) known as Hour of the Wolf. This soul-searingly semiautobiographical, misunderstood masterpiece chronicles the struggle of a retired artist against his repressed demons.

Along the way Fox, Marcy, and Laura learn all about the vampiric thrall of The Hat Woman, the questionable morality of murdering ankle-biting boys, and how these forces combined might just ruin ones island getaway with even the most impossibly-compassionate pregnant wife.

Shy Fox, Laura Kate Dale, and Marcy O'Daniels walk like proverbial magicians astride the thin line separating the real from the surreal, as Dale Cooper leads the the way. This show aimed to find the best qualities of bad and underrated games, and find out what made them special even if the end-result was less-than-ideal. In this decade-old episode, we covered one of my favorite overlooked gems: Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the Nintendo 64.

This bizarre Japanese period piece featured very early Mario/Zelda hybrid gameplay, along with an incredible soundtrack, served alongside a heaping helping of wacky, borderline-surreal humor. It's truly a peculiar feast for particular senses, and I encourage all of you to check it out, or at least load up that soundtrack on YouTube.

David Keith Lynch departed this earthly theater of the absurd a year ago today. Fox and Laura celebrate his profound influence on their lives by doing one of his favorite things: reporting on the local weather.

The FYHOD friends then talk at length about how connecting with Lynch's work has kept them insanely sane despite the awfulness of 2025, and how they feel more connected to him--and by proxy the moon--than ever.

Other topics include: Laura's undying fixation on the band My Chemical Romance, as well as Fox's lengthy journey into the sublimely-cryptic video game secrets of Angeline Era!

It's the end-of-year installment for our intermittent community podcast! Shy Fox and Marcy O'Daniels dissect some shocking developments in the realm of David Lynch news, before treating themselves to a long, freeform chat about their favorite media of the year.

Is Quentin Tarantino fit to judge whether Lynch disappeared up his own ass, when he can't even see the obvious acting talents of Paul Dano and Matthew Lillard? Has Kyle MacLachlen become David's avatar on this earthly realm ever since his passing? And is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond worthy of a deeper look despite (or perhaps even because of) its strangest choices?

Answers to these and many more mysteries lie Under The Sycamore Trees!

Over the course of 30 years, Z-list podcaster Shy Fox heard his favorite video games, movies, and television shows constantly compared to Twin Peaks, and was always intrigued. Then in 2024 he finally watched the show for the first time, finishing its final season just in time to join the world in mourning Lynch's January 2025 passing.

Now he is on a quest to both discover and revisit the HUNDREDS of pieces of pop-culture that have been unfathomably changed by the far-reaching influence of Twin Peaks and its creators, so he can help other newcomers discover what makes it special.
