Smoko and Mat sit down with John Hunter, the SCCA's Manager of National Time Trials, to unpack one of the most transformational periods in the program's history. 2025 introduced the innovative Targa format and a season-long championship structure, but 2026 is bringing even bigger changes with a coast-to-coast expansion, separate East and West series, and the first-ever Time Attack National Championship at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Texas.

John walks us through how competitors responded to the new formats, explains the strategy behind splitting into regional series, and reveals what the partnership with Global Time Attack means for West Coast racers. We also dive into the technical side with discussions about the new one-year rule cycle and significant rule changes coming for 2026. Whether you're planning your competition calendar or just curious about the future of grassroots time attack, this episode has the insider perspective you need.
