We do a Marry, Kiss, Dump game, followed up by Poorly Explained Movies: Holiday Edition. (We discover quite a few Christmas movies we never knew existed.) It’s our 9th Annual rewatch of The Leftovers. We’re still here. Joining us to discuss Departure Day is Poodle from the Reality Gays podcast. We discuss upcoming films and our recommendations for the week. Poodle breaks down his thoughts on our favorite Mapleton/Miracle residents. Which reality show environment do you think Nora and Patti thrive in? Could you see Tommy as a Love Island bombshell? Kelly pulls a Laurie and digs deep into the psyche of each of our main characters.
Apologies, we did have a few audio issues during the recording. Almost like we were transmitting to wherever Nora went to see her departed loved ones.

A quick note before the Sudden Departure....

Susan & Cort are holding down the podcast while Kelly is away, which means there are more squirrels than usual and they are running the show. They take a trip back to 2006 to revisit movies they loved, movies they struggled to finish, and what might deserve a rewatch. Along the way, they discuss the latest entertainment news, upcoming releases, and the ongoing chaos of Beyond the Gates.
What was the best movie year, 1999 or 2006? We really want to know!! Geek on & feed the squirrels.

Awards season is in full effect! The girls discuss the 78th Primetime Emmys and the Creative Emmy Awards. We had high hopes for Widow’s Bay and somehow the night went even better than we thought it could. The horror-comedy series took home 14 awards! There were several other wins and moments that left us excited. Was the ceremony totally perfect…of course not. We dig into that as well. Our other big discussion? Practical Magic! Our beloved Owens Family is back and we definitely want more. Also listen in for more entertainment news and our recommendations for the week.

The bad news: Silo season 3 just ended. The good news: They’ve already filmed season 4!
The Geek Girls are chatting about the mysteries we can’t let be from season 3, secrets from the second book of the Silo series (by Hugh Howey), and what might lie ahead for the final season.
We also commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, sharing a few movies, shows, and documentaries we watched.
And Susan and Cort have some Beyond the Gates updates.

This week, the girls delve deeply into the Star Trek universe discussing the OG series’ origins, favorite Star Trek series/characters, and episodes. Also, listen in for recent entertainment news. What recent celebrity death hit you hardest? There have been quite a few of late and can we all agree that ol’ Grim needs a vacation? Finally, Susan and Cort wrap the episode with just a little Beyond The Gates…

After weeks of travel, cruising, illness, mini-episodes, and plenty of adventures, Susan, Kelly, and Cort are finally back together on dry land.
The trio catches up on what they missed while they were away, talks entertainment news and upcoming releases, shares recommendations, and looks back at some of their favorite moments from their epic trip—including Iceland’s Sky Lagoon, a terrifying-but-triumphant troll hike, cruise trivia, karaoke, airport adventures, and the joys of international business-class lounges.
They also discuss the future of Warner Bros./HBO, complain about questionable movie reboots, and somehow find plenty of time to talk about squirrels.

It’s been an adventure, but now we’re winding down and prepping for home. Of course, there are still tales to be told. Also, we watched another movie. Have you seen Mother Mary? We’ve got a few tips for anyone making the journey to Heathrow and surrounding areas.

It’s been a busy two days at sea in between Iceland and Scotland. We hit up karaoke and high tea. There was a comedian who knew ALL about Love Island UK. We watched a few movies (Deep Water, Over Your Dead Body, and Mandalorian & Grogu). We also talk a little Beyond The Gates and A Different World’s upcoming sequel series. Sept 24th cannot come fast enough. Take us back to Hillman, stat!

Spa day! The girls finally made it to the Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik. It was everything advertised and more. If we could’ve spent the rest of the trip lounging in those waters, we would have. Also, Cort drops her thoughts on fancasting and Marvel’s newly announced X-Men cast. Oh my Godess, Ororo ‘Storm’ Munroe has arrived!

It’s adventure time for Cort and Susan. Today we’re learning all things Isafjordur, a small Icelandic seaside fishing town. There was dried herring, a thimble-full of alcohol and some fermented shark. Which do you think we tried? Cort takes a solo journey and hikes Troll Throne. A death-defying day for certain.

It’s go time. We’ve been at sea for a couple of days trying to find just the right spot for the best view of the solar eclipse. We found it in some unexpected places. There’s also some Book!Threads talk of authors and grifting third parties. Dude thought he was Josh? Be so for real….iykyk…if you don’t know, that’s definitely for the best.

Quick! Someone let Brad Z know that the girls have landed in Belfast. WHERE? In Bellllllfast (iykyk). While there wasn’t trace of Jax Teller and his crew, Cort and Susan did manage to find some Whitewalkers and other cool finds during their visit to the Game of Thrones Studio tour. The girls also discuss other highlights from the day.

Land ho! We brave turbulent seas for our first adventure off of the ship. What did we do? A literary tour that fed our love of the classics and introduced us to some new Irish voices. We also spend a little time talking tv/films. Susan finally saw Obsession and we have non-spoilery thoughts. Also, Cort managed to check out the latest XMen 97 episode thanks to some downtime in a museum café and a strong WIFI signal. It was a pretty good day.

Our first two days actually on the boat. Susan manages to dodge death by macadamia nut and pistachios. Good food, pajamas, and an ice cream spot that should be open 24/7.
