Followers With Power
Show notes
You can manufacture strength and organization within a team, but ultimately, you need the empowerment of the leader. Have we settled for following Jesus with little expectation of His power? Do we really believe that Jesus can exercise His authority through ordinary people like us? Pastor Oscar Roche continues the Come Follow Me series, opening Mark 3:7-19. Jesus never intended His followers merely to admire His authority. He intended for them to carry it. He wants us to be followers with power! Let's fully participate in His discipleship plan! Touch Him, do life with Him, and go in the power He has given to us.

Religion Misses The Point
Show notes
Humans have the tendency to miss the point. They can be committed to rules and regulations that end up causing more harm than the good intentions they began with. Religion is like that too. In Jesus' day, the priests had created many laws to avoid any chance of violating the holy day. Pastor Mike Patz looks at the Sabbath, unpacking Mark 2:23-28 and 3:1-6 as we continue with the Come Follow Me series. Sabbath was to cease, to pause, to stop doing what you normally would be doing and delight in the Lord. The very law of God was always good for humans. Religion has a way of missing the point. What's on the other side of the command? Humans flourish when they're living within the true commands of God. So Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

Don't Sleep Through The Wedding
Show notes
We all have a picture in mind of how life works, a scoreboard of how success looks. As the Come Follow Me series continues, Pastor Mike Patz opens up Mark chapter 2:18-22, challenging us: don't sleep through the wedding! Be awake, the Bridegroom is alive and He rejoices over us. Does His presence thrill your soul? Have you spent your whole life trying to convince God to love you, trying to be good enough? There is really good news today: you may have left your first love for Him, but the Bridegroom has not lost His first love for you. We can know His voice! Jesus has already scored all the points needed to know Him, on the cross. He is the all in all, the Lord of lords, and it's all about Him! Our lives must be rearranged around Him. You don't add Jesus to your life; you give your life to Jesus.

What is the Gospel?
Show notes
What is the Gospel? Euangelion = gospel, meaning a better life has come. The Gospel should take your breath away! Let's look deeply at the Good News at work in the midst of the bad news we experience in this life. Darkness is real, but light is breaking in! Keep looking because there's more than meets the eye.As we journey through the book of Mark, a discipleship manual, Jesus says, "Come follow me." Pastor Mike Patz opens Mark chapter 1:14-15, asking, "What is the Gospel?" Is the gospel you're believing in the good advice, or the Good News?Jesus is in Galilee, bringing the Good News to the nations. We have been called into this Kingdom! Religion says: do. Try harder. Be better. Clean yourself up. Keep the rules. Make yourself acceptable. Work your way to God. Strive. There are many gospels, but the true Gospel is our God reigns! There is healing to the brokenhearted, freedom to the captives, comfort to those who mourn. The Gospel is the Good News that in Jesus, God's Kingdom has come, and because of Jesus, we can get in. Repent and believe the Gospel!

Why The Trinity Matters
Show notes
What does the Trinity have to do with the way we actually live?In the final message of our Trinity series, Pastor Mike walks through Matthew 28:16–20 and Jesus’ command to make disciples by baptizing them into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.Baptism is more than saying the right words—it is an invitation into a new way of life. Jesus calls us to be immersed in the life of the Father, Son, and Spirit. When we are immersed in the Father, we discover love—that we are wanted, known, adopted, and deeply loved. When we are immersed in the Son, we encounter truth—learning to live like Jesus, follow His ways, and receive His life as our own. When we are immersed in the Spirit, we encounter power—His presence, His voice, His calling, and His power working through us.True formation comes by being immersed in the life of the Father, Son, and Spirit.Love. Truth. Power. This is why the Trinity matters.

The Gospel of The Kingdom
Show notes
Have you ever looked around at the world and felt like Daniel did: grieved, troubled in your spirit with the headlines? Is the chaos of the world or the true Word of God on your mind? We don't debate timeliness and dates, but we focus on what we are sure of. The Unshakable Kingdom! Pastor Oscar Roche concludes our series on the Book of Daniel, opening chapter 7.The Kingdom of our God and King shall never be destroyed! Faithfulness over Decades
Show notes
Have you ever done your job so well that you were persecuted because of it? Trustworthy, firm, reliable, one that's faithful, this is the description of Daniel. He stayed faithful for over 70 years through exile, a shifting culture, political changes and rulers! Unshakable faith over decades! Pastor Oscar Roche continues our series on the Book of Daniel, looking at chapter 6.Daniel's first response when he hears that the law has been changed is to go to the window to pray, "as he had always done."We tend to wait for the crisis to come before we seek the Lord. But when life starts unraveling it's not the time to finally come to the Lord. Crisis doesn't create your devotion, it's found in what you're giving yourself to daily. The ordinary rhythms are where faithfulness is cultivated. It must be formed before it can be tested. Faithfulness is not formed in the lion's den. It's formed at the window.

The Sovereign God of Kings
Show notes
There's an overarching sense of anxiety in our culture today. Constant fear vies to override the truth of the scripture in many of our lives. Has God lost control?Unshakable! The pressure of the world reveals the allegiance of the heart. Pastor Matt Ulrich continues our series on The Book of Daniel. In chapters 2-4, Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that terrifies him. The kingdoms of man rise and fall; they are not permanent. What looks ultimate on earth is temporary in heaven. Any kingdom without the King is destined to fall. The Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth, and His name is Jesus Christ. He is in control of everything, and so we don't have to be.

The Purposed Heart
Show notes
Unshakable! The pressure of the world reveals the allegiance of the heart. Pastor Tim Sikpi kicks off a new series on The Book of Daniel. The purposed heart stays faithful in the fire. We can land in bad situations because of decisions we have made. We're living in a Babylon society today. It lulls us to sleep so we no longer are aware of God's presence. We must remember we are not at home! God desires to transform us by His Spirit, but this requires a choice to be yielded to Him, not the world. Our lives are not an accident, they are comprised of the little choices we make over time. Don't be double -minded in your walk. You have been chosen, set apart for God, so live up to that calling. Come our from Babylon! Pursue holiness and watch God give you a heart that is fully His.

The Conclusion of the Matter
Show notes
The book of Ecclesiastes sets you up for everlasting truths; it's all about the conclusion of the matter. It exposes all the false loves of Solomon. If everything under the sun is meaningless, where do you find meaning? The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom! Pastor Mike Patz concludes our series, What's the Point, a look at meaning, purpose, and the point behind it all. Heed the warning! Living in the fear of the Lord means recognizing and honoring His holiness, power, and great might. It means loving God with your whole being. We live in a culture of dishonor, and there is a concerning lack of awe in the world today that must be rectified. He is more magnificent than any other! Holy, holy, holy, we stand in awe of Him. Yet even in His holiness, God desires that we come close in love. Holiness and love came together in the cross for us.

Remember Your Creator
Show notes
Imagine you are in your nineties, and you are granted one hour to return to your younger self for a conversation. What would you tell you?
Pastor Mike Patz continues our series, What’s the Point, a look through Ecclesiastes, at meaning, purpose, and the point behind it all.
Meaningless, meaningless! Remember your Creator in the days of your youth. The book of Ecclesiastes is old Solomon speaking to young Solomon. There are regrets that haunt the end of his life.
We lose so much by waiting to live for Him early on. The best time to remember your Creator is not before you die; it’s before you drift. Your life and your calling must be informed by your Creator. Live a life of purpose and gratitude, with no regrets!

Where to Look When Life Feels Uncertain
Show notes
What do you do when hard times come? Where do you turn when the bottom drops out of your life? A lot less is certain in life than we want to believe is. Pastor Malik Murray continues our series, What's the Point, a look through Ecclesiastes, at meaning, purpose, and the point behind it all. The Book of Ecclesiastes can be difficult. It contains lists of bad situations and meaningless things. We want to be in control of our lives! Yet God wants us to understand that even though we may try to plan and sugarcoat our lives, in the end, what is worthwhile is knowing Him.The most certain thing in an uncertain world is the sovereignty of God, and that certainty frees us to live faithfully. Everything He does works in and through us in exceedingly abundant ways, always!

The Lies Money Tells
Show notes
This Sunday, Pastor Mike continues our journey through Ecclesiastes by exposing the lies money tells us.
Money promises satisfaction, comfort, and security—but does it actually deliver? In Ecclesiastes 5:10–6:12, Solomon reveals how wealth can quietly move from our wallets to our hearts, becoming an idol that promises what only God can provide.
Whether you're chasing "just a little more," looking for peace in financial stability, or placing your confidence in earthly resources, this message will challenge you to examine where your hope truly rests.
Join us as we discover why money is a terrible savior and why Jesus alone is our source of contentment, rest, and security.

The Promise Still Stands
Show notes
When things get difficult, we find out if what God promised us in the Holy Spirit is real, a true experience. Pastor Mike Patz opens the Book of Acts on Pentecost Sunday. There is an encounter of the Spirit- subsequent to salvation- that is available to everyone willing to seek! Have you encountered God through the gift of the Holy Spirit? One of the great blunders of the Western world is to believe that intellectual study of God is the only way. There is a God in heaven Who has pulled back the veil and come close to us. We can know Him, through encountering the Holy Spirit! Jesus will act through us as we move forward in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Weight of Things
Show notes
Do you recall the recent phenomena online that was the Blaspheme Challenge, with those publicly making declarations against God? We live in a culture that has lost their reverence.Pastor Mike Patz continues the series, What's the Point, a look through Ecclesiastes, at meaning, purpose, and the point behind it all. He opens up chapter 5, "Let your words be few... Many words mark the speech of a fool." The weight of things. Do we know how to fear the Lord? Holy things must carry weight! When all feels hevel, vapor, meaningless, God is the true place of meaning. God has weight! He is near; we must be truly aware of His holiness and glorious power. He deserves our awe, for our God is an awesome God!

Surprised by Joy
Show notes
What was it like to be the woman who became pregnant with God's Son? For thirty years she has kept the secret. Imagine that you're Mary- you remember the angels, the prophecies, the shepherds, the magi. Pastor Mike Patz brings a timely word, Loose Your Grip, from John chapter 2. Jesus has now begun to bring His teachings, and here is the first miracle, at the wedding of Cana. A wedding was a time of celebration and communal joy, and what brought the joy was the wine. Running out of wine would have been the greatest catastrophe! Have you ever been waiting for a promise to come to pass? Mary had! She says, "Son, do something!" Since Jesus only does what He sees the Father doing, His answer of "not yet..." was not what she wanted to hear. Mary must surrender to the timing. Waiting patiently on the Lord will often wreck your timeline. But the joy we crave is only found on the other side of surrender. Jesus will surprise you with joy!

From Alone to Never Alone
Show notes
Isolation, loneliness, and struggle are times that can feel meaningless. Life's hardest moments are usually quiet times, when we are alone. We are heavy, and when we break because we are without a comforter. Pastor Oscar Roche continues the series, What's the Point, a look through Ecclesiastes, at meaning, purpose, and the point behind it all.Pain can either draw us toward, or push us away, from God. He has promised to be the God of all comfort! With us always, we never need to walk alone. The wise one moves from being alone to "never alone." We can walk in the light and have fellowship with God and each other. Connection, dependence, and looking to Him are vital to live a full and passionate life.

The Urgency of the Whole Truth
Show notes
There is salvation in no other name than Jesus! So when people get around us, do they recognize that we have been with Jesus?Pastor Mike Patz continues our Reorient series, saying, "All that Jesus began to do, we continue..." We are looking for Book of Acts happenings to abound in us today. The Lord added to their number, day by day, those who were being saved.Let us be faithful to speak of the things Jesus has done in and through us, the urgency of the whole truth. Half truths create complacency, but the full truth creates urgency. Why was the early church so urgent in sharing their faith? They were convinced of the goodness of God as well as the judgment of God. We must live ready to meet our Maker!

Wait For It
Show notes
We are a culture who hates to wait! Addicted to the dopamine hit of the immediate, the temptation is to get lost in scrolling. Pastor Mike Patz continues our Reorient series saying, "All that Jesus began to do, we continue..." We are looking for the Book of Acts to be happening in us today. The key is the promise Jesus made, "You will be baptized in the Holy Spirit." If you want the power of Acts 2, you need to wait like they did in Acts 1. This power comes from God, and the waiting time to receive is about preparing for the power. Be willing to wait on Him, and be fully filled with the Holy Spirit today!

Communion is more important than we realize
Show notes
Pastor Mike Patz continues our look at the gaps between the early church and the modern church in the Reorient series. All that Jesus started we continue... we are looking for the Book of Acts to be happening in us today. The devotions of the disciples included "the breaking of bread", which we now know as the Lord's Supper, or communion. The Book of Acts church was regularly remembering Jesus, the Passover Lamb, through celebrating communion together. If you're oppressed, afflicted, or depressed, the breaking of bread is good news for you! When the bread is broken, the presence of Jesus comes closer. He breaks bondage, heals, and sets free! May our expectation of experiencing Jesus being present with us become a greater reality, right here, right now!
