Groove & Talk

In Episode 5 of Groove & Talk, Seef Anam shares three grooves that have influenced generations of drummers and music: The Amen Brother Drum Break, F.T.B. by Robert Glasper, and Moanin' by Art Blakey.

Seef also shares a groove from Baby Rose, an artist he has toured with, and talks about taking her sampled beat and adapting it to the kit, which is something drummers have to do frequently today with so much music being sample driven.

In episode 4 of Groove & Talk, Atlanta based guitarist Cody Matlock joins us with Garrett Caver on bass to talk, play, and hold down five different grooves picked by Cody from The Meters, James brown, Little Beaver, Maceo Parker, and Parliament Funkadelic. We also talk about his career, lessons from touring with William Bell, and more.

In episode 2 of Groove & Talk, Robert Boone, drummer for The Count Basie Orchestra and Drum instructor at Ga State, shared famous grooves from OutKast, James brown, A Tribe Called Quest, and the Ahmad Jamal Trio. Robert also shares stories and advice on becoming a successful musician.
