Episode 24: Sleep & Healing: How God Designed Your Body to Repair While You Rest
Episode 26
Show notes
Episode 24: Sleep and Healing: How God Designed Your Body to Repair While You Rest
Are you a night owl who pays for it the next day? You stay up late because the quiet hours finally feel like yours, and then you wake up exhausted, knowing your body didn't get the chance to heal overnight.
In this episode, I'm sharing honestly about my own struggle with sleep and why I'm learning to see it as part of healing, not wasted time. We look at what happens in your body while you sleep, why sleep changes in midlife, what Scripture says about rest as a gift, and why so many of us hold onto the late-night hours.
🌿 In this episode you'll learn:
- What your body and brain are doing while you sleep, and how it connects to inflammation, stress hormones, and cravings
- Why sleep often changes for women in their 50s and beyond, and when to talk with your own practitioner
- Why staying up late isn't always just a habit, and the stewardship question to ask yourself
- Three simple practices to try this week: moving bedtime earlier by just 15 minutes, dimming the lights and quieting screens, and handing your day to God in prayer before bed
📖 Scripture referenced:
- Psalm 127:2: "In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves."
- Psalm 4:8: "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety."
- 1 Peter 5:7: "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
If your sleep has changed significantly, you wake up unrefreshed no matter how long you're in bed, or you snore loudly or stop breathing at night, please talk with your own health practitioner.

Episode 23: The Healing Power of Joy & Gratitude: God's Medicine for the Body
Episode 25
Show notes
Episode 23: The Healing Power of Joy and Gratitude: God's Medicine for the Body
What if joy and gratitude aren't just nice feelings for good days, but part of how God designed your body to heal?
In this episode, we're flipping the conversation. After talking about stress, the gut-brain connection, and weight and healing, today is about what to add instead of what to take away. I share what research suggests about gratitude and the body, why joy and gratitude are practices you can choose (even on hard days), and why this is never about toxic positivity or pretending everything is fine.
🌿 In this episode you'll learn:
- Why Scripture calls a cheerful heart "good medicine," and what research is now finding
- What studies suggest about gratitude, inflammation, stress hormones, and the brain
- Why gratitude and grief can exist side by side in the same prayer
- How struggle itself can build perseverance, character, and hope
- Three simple practices to try this week: a specific nightly gratitude list, naming the hard thing AND the thankful thing, and sharing with one person📖 Scripture referenced:
- Proverbs 17:22: "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."
- Romans 5:3-5
- 1 Peter 1:6-7A note on the research: the benefits studied so far are modest but real. Joy and gratitude are not a cure-all, but they are one beautiful piece of whole-person wellness, working alongside good nutrition, movement, rest, and the guidance of your own holistic or functional health practitioner.
💛 A grateful note from my heart to yours:
I'm so thankful for you, truly. Every time you press play, you make this little corner of the world feel brighter. Episode 22: Weight Loss for Healing: God's Design for a Stronger Body
Episode 24
Show notes
Episode 22: Weight Loss for Healing: God's Design for a Stronger Body
What if weight loss isn't about becoming smaller — but becoming stronger? In this episode, I'm having an honest conversation about weight, healing, and the body God gave us to steward. This isn't another "love yourself regardless of the number" episode — we've already covered that in Episode 19. Instead, I want to hold two truths at once: your worth has nothing to do with your weight, AND if excess weight is affecting your health, addressing it can be a meaningful part of your healing journey.
I share a bit of my own story with my knee and ankle, why protecting muscle matters just as much as losing fat (especially for women 50+), and a simple way to figure out how much protein your body actually needs.
🌿 In this episode you'll learn:
• Why excess body fat can add to your body's inflammatory burden — and why inflammation itself isn't the enemy
• Three ways addressing excess weight can support your healing
• Why healthy weight loss is never the same as starving yourself
• How to protect muscle while losing fat, especially in your 50s and beyond
• A simple formula to figure out how much protein you need each day
• Three practical, non-overwhelming things to focus on this week📖 Scripture referenced:
• 1 Corinthians 10:31 — "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
• Proverbs 31:17 — "She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks."I use USANA products to help support adequate protein intake as part of my own wellness routine, and I've included links below to a few of the protein products I personally use. Episode 23
Show notes
Episode 21: Gut Health and the Gut-Brain Connection: What God's Design Reveals
Have you ever felt so stressed that your stomach was in knots — or so anxious you couldn't eat a bite? That's not just in your head. Your gut and your brain are in constant communication, and the more I've learned about this connection, the more amazed I am at how intentionally God designed our bodies.
In this episode, I'm digging into the gut-brain axis, what your gut microbiome is actually doing for you, and why how you eat matters just as much as what you eat. I also share why I've personally gotten curious about functional gut testing, and where I think supplements do (and don't) fit into the picture.
🌿 In this episode you'll learn:
• What the gut-brain axis is and why stress shows up in your digestion
• How your gut microbiome supports far more than just digestion
• Why fiber and food variety matter for feeding your gut ecosystem
• When functional testing (like a comprehensive stool test) might be worth a conversation with your practitioner
• Why more supplements isn't automatically better — and how to think it through
• Three simple, non-overwhelming steps you can start this week📖 Scripture referenced: Psalm 104:24 — "How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all."
I use USANA products as part of my own wellness routine, and I mention a few in this episode. As a USANA Brand Partner, I earn a commission on products purchased through my links — I want to always be upfront about that with you. You can find more information at wellnesswithelizabeth.usana.com.

Episode 20: Lessons From My Healing Journey: What I'd Do Differently
Episode 22
Show notes
What if some of the biggest lessons in our healing journey come from the mistakes we make along the way?
In this episode of Healing God’s Way, I get personal and share some of the mistakes I have made throughout my own healing journey—and what those experiences have taught me.
From stopping movement after an injury, to emotional eating, neglecting rest, making less-than-ideal choices, and expecting God to do all the work, I open up about the things I am still learning, rather than pretending I have it all figured out.
Together, we’ll explore what it means to care for the body God has entrusted to us, why healing requires both grace and personal responsibility, and how one imperfect choice doesn't have to become an entire day—or an entire life—of giving up.
I also share practical, simple steps you can begin applying to your own wellness journey, along with encouragement from Scripture, including:
📖 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 — a reminder that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we are called to honor God with our bodies.
📖 Proverbs 24:16 — “Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” A beautiful reminder that falling doesn't mean failing. We can always get back up and begin again.
If you've ever felt discouraged by your own setbacks or wondered if you've made too many mistakes to move forward, this episode is for you.
You don't have to be perfect to begin again.
Until next time, keep seeking peace, keep pursuing wellness, and keep following the One who knows exactly where He's leading you.
Because true wellness begins with Him.

Episode 19: Negative Self-Talk: Seeing Yourself Through God's Eyes
Episode 21
Show notes
What if some of the things we believe about ourselves aren't actually true?
In this deeply personal episode of Healing God's Way, I share some of the experiences and voices that have shaped the way I've seen myself—including painful relationships, struggles with my body, emotional eating, and the ways I've sometimes used food as both comfort and protection.
For years, I allowed the opinions of others to become part of my identity. But I'm learning to ask a different question: What does God say about me?
Psalm 139:14 reminds us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” while Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God's handiwork, created with purpose.
I'm still learning to believe these truths—not just in my head, but in my heart.
And I'm beginning to wonder if stepping out of hiding and sharing our stories might be part of our healing. Maybe our vulnerability can help another woman feel safe enough to share hers.
This isn't an episode about having it all figured out. It's about learning to lay down the weight of other people's opinions, care for the bodies God has entrusted to us, and begin seeing ourselves through His eyes.
If you've ever struggled with your worth, your body, emotional eating, shame, or simply feeling like you've lost yourself, I hope you'll listen.
You are not alone.
And maybe it's time to ask yourself:
Whose voice are you listening to?
Want to Learn More About the Wellness Tools I Use?
As part of my own wellness journey, I use nutritional supplements that I personally trust and have incorporated into my daily routine.
Through my work as a health coach and USANA Brand Partner, I’m able to help women learn more about foundational nutrition and explore whether nutritional supplementation might be a helpful part of their own wellness journey.
There is no pressure and no expectation to purchase anything. My goal is simply to provide information, answer questions, and help you make informed choices that feel right for you.
If you're curious about the products I use or would like to learn more, I would love to connect with you.

Episode 18: Life After Healing: Will I Still Abide in God?
Episode 20
Show notes
What happens after the healing?
It's a question we don't often ask—but perhaps we should.
After spending months or even years praying for healing, it's natural to wonder how life will change when God answers those prayers. Will we still seek Him with the same passion? Will we continue to abide in His presence? And who are we when our identity is no longer wrapped up in illness, injury, or the waiting?
In this heartfelt episode of Healing God's Way, I share a very personal struggle I've been wrestling with: the unexpected fear of what comes after healing. Together, we'll explore what Jesus meant when He said, "Abide in Me" (John 15:4–5), why God warned the Israelites not to forget Him after entering the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 8), and how our true identity has never been found in our circumstances—but in Christ alone.
We'll also talk about an emotion many people rarely admit: feeling guilty when our prayers are answered while others are still waiting. How do we receive God's blessings with gratitude while continuing to walk alongside those who are still trusting Him for their breakthrough?
If you've ever wondered whether healing might change your relationship with God, this episode is for you.
Scripture References:
• John 15:4–5
• Deuteronomy 8:11
• Psalm 139:14Remember this: healing may change your circumstances, but it never changes your identity. You are, and always will be, God's beloved child.

Perhaps your mind is constantly racing, you struggle to slow down, or you feel like you've been living in survival mode for far too long. If so, you're not alone.

Together, we'll discover the connection between faith, rest, and calming the nervous system—and why true healing isn't just about doing more, but learning to trust God more deeply.
I'll also share part of my own healing journey as I reflect on what it means to move from a life of striving into a life of peace. Plus, I'll offer five simple, faith-centered practices that can help support a calmer nervous system while drawing you closer to God's presence.

Episode 16: Menopause and Purpose: God Is Still Writing Your Story
Episode 18
Show notes
Menopause is often viewed as the end of a chapter—but what if God sees it as the beginning of a new one?
In this episode of Healing God's Way, we'll explore menopause through the lens of faith and discover that this season of life is not a mistake, a punishment, or the end of your purpose. God created every stage of a woman's life with intention, and He is still writing your story.
I'll share my own experience with menopause—a transition that was physically mild but emotionally unexpected—as I wrestled with the feeling that an important part of my life had come to an end. Looking back now, I can clearly see that God wasn't closing a door. He was opening one. Today, I'm living out a new calling through this podcast, health coaching, and helping women embrace the hope and healing God has for them.
We'll also look at the inspiring stories of Sarah, Elizabeth, and Anna—women whom God used in extraordinary ways later in life—and discover why our culture's definition of aging is so different from God's.
Whether you're approaching menopause, walking through it, or have already experienced it, I pray this episode encourages you to embrace this season with hope, confidence, and expectancy.

Episode 15: Chronic Pain and Faith: Finding God's Presence in the Healing Journey
Episode 17
Show notes
Pain is something we all try to avoid. But what if God could use our pain to draw us closer to Him?
In this deeply personal episode of Healing God's Way, I share a lesson God taught me after my very first cupping therapy session. I expected to leave feeling better, but instead I left feeling sore. That unexpected experience reminded me that sometimes healing doesn't feel like healing at all.
Together, we'll explore the incredible story of Job and discover how, even in the midst of unimaginable suffering, he came to know God more intimately than ever before. We'll also reflect on the promise of Romans 8:28—that God is able to work all things together for good for those who love Him—not because all things are good, but because He is a God of redemption.
If you're walking through physical pain, emotional wounds, disappointment, or a season where healing seems harder than you expected, I pray this episode reminds you that you are never walking alone. God is present in your pain, faithful in the waiting, and always at work—even when you can't yet see the breakthrough.
Scripture References:
• Job 42:5
• Romans 8:28
• Romans 5:3–5
• James 1:2–4

Episode 14: Waiting on God: Becoming More Than You Imagined
Episode 16
Show notes
Waiting can be one of the hardest parts of any healing journey.
Whether you're waiting for physical healing, emotional restoration, financial breakthrough, or answers to long-awaited prayers, it's easy to wonder if God has forgotten you.
But what if your waiting isn't wasted?
In this episode of Healing God's Way, we'll explore how God used seasons of waiting to prepare some of the Bible's most faithful servants—including David, Joseph, Hannah, and Abraham. Their stories remind us that God's delays are not His absence. Often, He is doing His greatest work within us before He changes what is around us.
As I share some of my own healing journey, I've come to realize that while I often focus on where I want God to take me, He is gently asking a different question:
"Who are you becoming while you wait?"
If you've ever felt discouraged because your healing seems to be taking longer than expected, I pray this episode will encourage you to trust that God is still working—even when you can't yet see the results.
Scripture References:
• 1 Samuel 16–24 (David)
• Genesis 37–50 (Joseph)
• 1 Samuel 1 (Hannah)
• Genesis 12–21 (Abraham & Sarah)
• Romans 5:3–5

Episode 13: Do You Want to Be Well? God's Invitation to Healing
Episode 15
Show notes
In John Chapter 5, Jesus approaches a man who had been suffering for 38 years and asks what seems like a strange question:
"Do you want to get well?" (John 5:6)
Of course he wanted healing...or did he?
In this heartfelt episode of Healing God's Way, we take a deeper look at this powerful encounter and explore what Jesus may have really been asking.
Sometimes the greatest obstacle to healing isn't our illness, our circumstances, or even our past. Sometimes it's the beliefs we've carried about ourselves for years.
Do we truly believe God sees us?
Do we believe our future matters?
Do we believe we are worthy of healing, restoration, and hope?Join me as I share personal reflections on feeling unseen, struggling with worthiness, and learning to see myself through God's eyes rather than through the wounds of my past.
If you've ever felt stuck, overlooked, or wondered if healing is really possible for you, this episode is for you.
Scripture References:
• John 5:1-15
• Romans 5:8
• Ephesians 2:10
• Psalm 139:14Remember, healing begins when we stop arguing with God about our worth and start agreeing with Him.

Episode 12: Healing Plateau? God Is Still Working, Even When Nothing Changes
Episode 14
Show notes
Have you ever felt like you're doing all the right things on your healing journey, yet nothing seems to be changing?
You're praying.
You're making healthier choices.
You're taking your supplements.
You're moving your body.
You're trusting God.
And yet, you feel stuck.
If that sounds familiar, you're not alone.
In this episode of Healing God's Way, we explore one of the most frustrating—and most common—parts of healing: the plateau.
Using the powerful analogy of hiking a mountain, we'll discuss why the flat places in our journey are not dead ends, but opportunities to rest, grow stronger, and prepare for what's ahead. Sometimes what feels like a lack of progress is actually a season of preparation where God is working beneath the surface.
In this episode, you'll learn:
🌿 What a healing plateau really is
🌿 Why plateaus are a normal part of healing
🌿 What God may be doing during seasons of waiting
🌿 How to stay encouraged when progress feels slow
🌿 Practical steps to keep moving forward without giving upWe also reflect on:
📖 Galatians 6:9
📖 Isaiah 40:31
📖 James 1:2-4I also share a personal update on my own healing journey with my knee and how God is teaching me to trust Him in the "meadow" between where I started and where I hope to be.
If you've been feeling discouraged, frustrated, or wondering whether your efforts are making a difference, this episode is a reminder that healing isn't always a straight climb—and that God is still working, even when you can't see it.
💛 Stay until the end for a special prayer for anyone walking through a season of waiting, uncertainty, or slow progress.

The plateau is not the end of the journey. God is still working.

Episode 11: Community and Healing: Why God Designed Us for Support
Episode 13
Show notes
In this episode of Healing God's Way, we explore one of the most important—and often overlooked—parts of the healing journey: having a healthy support system.
God never intended for us to walk through life's challenges alone. Whether you're facing health struggles, emotional wounds, stress, grief, or uncertainty, the people around you can have a profound impact on your healing.
In this heartfelt episode, I share a deeply personal part of my own story—a time when I desperately needed support and felt completely alone. Through that experience, I learned how important encouragement, community, and God's presence truly are.
In this episode, we discuss:
💛 Why healing was never meant to be a solo journey
💛 How healthy relationships support emotional, spiritual, and physical healing
💛 What can happen when we try to heal in isolation
💛 The difference between supportive people and draining relationships
💛 Practical ways to begin building a healthy support system
💛 Why encouragement is one of the greatest gifts we can give one anotherWe also reflect on:
📖 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
📖 Hebrews 10:24-25
📖 Proverbs 27:17
📖 Galatians 6:2If you've ever felt lonely, unseen, unsupported, or wondered if anyone understands what you're going through, this episode is for you.
💛 Stay until the end for a special prayer over those who are walking through a season of loneliness and longing for deeper connection.

Episode 5: Nervous System Healing: Helping Your Body Feel Safe Again with God
Episode 6
Show notes
In this episode of Healing God’s Way, we continue our journey from stress and emotional eating into something deeper—learning how to create a peaceful, daily rhythm that allows the body to finally feel safe enough to heal.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, rushed, or stuck in survival mode, this episode is a gentle invitation to slow down and return to a life of rhythm, rest, and restoration.
Through Scripture, practical guidance, and a personal reflection, you’ll learn how small, consistent shifts—like slowing your mornings, nourishing your body, and creating quiet moments with the Lord—can begin to calm your nervous system and support true healing.
Stay until the end for a peaceful prayer over your heart, your body, and your daily rhythms.
🚂 And a quick (slightly silly) apology… if you happen to hear a train horn in the background, that’s not a dramatic sound effect I added for emphasis—it’s just me learning how to edit and apparently recording near a very enthusiastic train. Thank you for your grace as I grow in this!
