  1. How I "Brainwash" My Clients: A 3-Step Method for Habits That Actually Stick

    Show notes

    Episode Summary

Most women already know what to eat and how to move. They've done the programs, tracked the macros and read the books, yet they still end up stuck. In this episode, Erin Power explains why that isn't a willpower or knowledge problem but an identity problem, and walks through the exact 3-step process she uses with every client after 22 years and more than 4,000 women coached.

Erin shares how she reads an intake form to find the upstream cause behind a client's struggles, why she tells clients "not yet" right when they feel the most momentum, and how she deliberately collects evidence until a client's old story about herself stops feeling true.

For coaches, this episode is a practical framework for sequencing habit change with clients: what to change first, when to add the next thing, and how to help clients believe their own progress.

    Episode Overview

00:00 Cold Open 00:37 "I Brainwash My Clients" 01:06 You Don't Need More Information, You Need Time 01:30 Why Habits That Become Identity Last 01:54 Step 1: Find Your First Domino 02:26 The Sugar Cravings Client 03:15 Reading an Intake Form: Finding the Upstream Cause 04:22 Step 2: Hold the Line 04:51 The Four Stages of Competence 05:57 How Long a Habit Really Takes 06:43 "Not Yet": What That Client Conversation Sounds Like 07:39 Step 3: Let the Results Rewrite the Story 09:21 The Whole Method, Distilled 09:47 From Stuck to Durably Different

    Key Themes and Takeaways

It's an Identity Problem, Not a Knowledge Problem Habits take far longer than most programs allow, an average of 66 days and 91 for exercise, and the habits that last are the ones that become part of who a person is.

Find the First Domino Look for the one change a client will feel in her body within days, and for the upstream cause that, once fixed, makes everything downstream easier.

Hold the Line Don't add a new habit until the first one is automatic. Momentum is exactly when most people pile on too much and the whole thing collapses.

Use the Four Stages of Competence When a client has to stop and think before answering "how's the breakfast been?", the habit has reached stage four, and that's the signal to add the next thing.

Collect Evidence, Don't Argue Arguing with a client's story about herself rarely works. Asking her to describe her wins out loud lets her own results rewrite it.

  2. Your Problem Isn't Zero Followers, It's Zero Conversations: How New Health Coaches Land Their First Clients

    Show notes

    Episode Summary

If you're a new health coach struggling to land your first client, your problem probably isn't zero followers. It's zero conversations. In this episode, Erin Power shares the exact strategies she used to grow her own multiple six-figure health coaching business without being social media famous.

Erin explains why you need a clear specialty before anyone will remember you, how to stop thinking like a content creator and start thinking like a business owner, and the four places to find your first clients: your existing contacts, referrals from other practitioners, small workshops and challenges, and targeted direct outreach.

She also covers how to approach sales conversations without pressure, why the true value of social media is in reinforcing your brand rather than building it, and the simple weekly goal that replaces chasing followers.

    Episode Overview

00:00 Cold Open 00:28 Zero Followers Isn't Your Problem, Zero Conversations Is 01:03 Put On Your Hubris Hat: Tell the World What You're Best At 01:21 The "I Help ___" Formula for Finding Your Specialty 02:06 Think Like a Business Owner, Not a Content Creator 02:24 Where Are Your Ideal Clients Already Spending Time? 02:55 Tactic 1: Start With Your Contact List 04:09 Tactic 2: Referrals From Other Practitioners 05:18 Tactic 3: Small Workshops and Challenges 06:22 Tactic 4: Targeted Direct Outreach 07:38 How to Approach Conversations Without Pressure 08:44 Rethinking Social Media: Reinforce, Don't Build 09:46 Set a Weekly Conversation Goal 10:51 Your Assignment: Three Real Conversations

    Key Themes and Takeaways

Find Your Specialty First Fill in the blanks: "I help [person] solve [problem] so they can [result]." If you can't write that sentence yet, you haven't given people a reason to remember you or choose you over other coaches.

Think Like a Business Owner Posting to a broad audience rarely reaches the people you actually want to work with. Instead of waiting to be spotted in the crowd, go find out where your ideal clients already spend their time.

Your Network Is Your First Market A list of 50 to 100 people you already know, plus five to 10 practitioners who serve your ideal clients, can open more doors than thousands of followers. Most won't buy, but they can trust you and refer you.

Keep Workshops Small Five to 15 participants is enough. A small group lets everyone feel heard and gives people a glimpse of what working with you is really like.

Outreach Without Pressure Saying hello to a stranger is already a win. Ask what they've been struggling with and what they've tried, really listen, and be honest about whether they fit your niche.

Social Media Reinforces, It Doesn't Build When referrals and outreach send people to look you up, your profile should answer one question right away: why should people trust you?

Measure Conversations, Not Followers Set a weekly goal of three or four new conversations, keep notes on each one, and review which tactics are actually working.

  3. The Easy Path Wins: Why Sustainable Habits Beat Discipline (and What It Took Erin 30 Years to Learn)

    Show notes

    Episode Summary

After more than two decades as a health coach, Erin Power shares the lesson that took her nearly 30 years to learn: the simplest lessons in health are often the hardest ones. In this episode she explains why the habit you can sustain will always beat the habit that feels hardest, and why making health easy is one of the most powerful things you can do for long-term results.

Erin walks through why a small daily deficit held for years outperforms an aggressive one held for weeks, how to break the guilt spiral that follows a missed day, and why "support, not achieve" is the mindset that keeps people moving well for decades. She also covers the four systems that work best when you stop fighting them: sleep, food, movement, and stress.

For coaches, this episode is a practical framework for helping clients who keep restarting, burning out, or white-knuckling plans they can't sustain.

    Episode Overview

00:00 Cold Open 00:29 The Simplest Lessons Are the Hardest to Learn 02:10 Sandra's Story: When Discipline Becomes the Problem 03:08 Why Even Easy Habits Feel Scary 04:02 The Guilt Spiral and Self-Compassion 05:03 Do It Badly: The B-Minus Approach to Consistency 05:47 Support, Not Achieve 06:19 What Keeps People Moving Years Later 07:40 Working With Your Body's Systems 08:05 Sleep and Your Circadian Rhythm 09:14 Food Quality and Joanne's Story 11:02 Movement as a Signal, Not a Punishment 12:09 Stress Is Metabolic Input 13:07 One Lesson, Four Systems

    Key Themes and Takeaways

Sustainability Beats Intensity A 200-calorie deficit held for two years adds up to roughly 10 times more progress than a 1,000-calorie deficit held for two weeks. How long a habit lasts is what produces results.

Discipline Can Be the Problem Erin shares the story of Sandra, one of the most disciplined clients she ever worked with, and why shrinking everything down was what finally made her results stick.

Self-Compassion Keeps People Trying Research on procrastination and stress shows that a harsh inner critic makes people more overwhelmed. Treating slip-ups gently is what gives clients permission to keep going.

The B-Minus Rule Do it now, do it badly if you have to, and do it again tomorrow. Real consistency is steady and unglamorous, and momentum takes over once the ball is rolling.

Support, Not Achieve Controlled motivation gets people started. Autonomous motivation, doing something because it genuinely matters, is what keeps them going years later.

Work With the Body, Not Against It Sleep regularity, food quality, movement, and stress all follow the same rule: remove the friction and let the body do what it is already trying to do.

  4. Rebuilding Human-Centered Coaching: Simplicity, Connection, and the Future of Wellness with Michelle Leotta

    Show notes

    Episode Summary

In this wide-ranging and deeply honest conversation, Erin Power welcomes back business and health coach Michelle Leotta to explore how the health coaching industry — and the health consumer — has fundamentally changed since their last conversation in August 2023. Michelle shares why the past year felt like a turning point for online businesses, what she observed in her client data, and how rising overwhelm, automation fatigue, and AI distrust are reshaping buying behavior.

Michelle walks listeners through her decision to radically simplify her business model, shift away from heavy automation, and return to more personal, manual, and human-to-human coaching experiences. Together, Erin and Michelle unpack what this means for health coaches at every stage — from brand-new practitioners to seasoned business owners — and why depth, flexibility, and real relationships are outperforming funnels, long sales pages, and over-scaled systems.

This episode also dives into powerful messaging shifts, the difference between health and wellness, and how coaches can move from being seen as a "nice-to-have" to a true "must-have" by focusing on what clients actually want their health for.

If you've felt burned out by tech, confused by declining engagement, or curious about how to build a simpler, more profitable, and more human coaching business — this episode will feel like a breath of fresh air.

42:10 – Thinking Bigger Than Health: Real-World Client Examples

47:47 – Final Reflections on the Future of Coaching and Human Connection

    Key Themes and Takeaways

    The Health Consumer Has Changed

Michelle explains that health coaches are seeing lower returns from the same strategies that once worked — not because coaching is less valuable, but because consumers are overwhelmed, confused, and deeply fatigued by automation, bots, and AI-driven interactions.

    Simplicity Is the New Advantage

By stripping away excess tools, funnels, and tech platforms, Michelle found that both her profitability and quality of life improved. Fewer systems meant fewer problems — and more meaningful work.

    Manual Does Not Mean Unscalable

The episode challenges the belief that one-on-one or manual processes automatically limit growth. Michelle introduces the idea of hybrid and convertible programs that naturally evolve from individual clients into group containers — without sacrificing depth or personalization.

    People Want Choice and Flexibility

Clients don't want rigid structures. Some love groups, others prefer private support. The most effective programs offer multiple touchpoints so clients can engage in ways that fit their lives.

Health Is a Gateway — Wellness Is the Destination

Rather than selling symptom reduction alone, Michelle encourages coaches to message around what health enables: dating again, starting new hobbies, changing careers, or reclaiming confidence and energy.

    Conversations Convert Better Than Pages

Long sales pages and funnels are losing effectiveness. Real conversations — emails, DMs, discovery calls — create trust, clarity, and higher commitment.

    Coaching Is About Being Human

At its core, coaching succeeds when clients feel seen, supported, and accountable. Human connection is the differentiator that technology cannot replace.

  5. Why the Future of Longevity Belongs to Health Coaches

    Show notes

Technology is advancing rapidly in the world of health and longevity — from wearables and peptides to GLP-1 medications and AI-driven diagnostics. But what if the most powerful intervention isn't technology at all? In this episode, Erin Power explores a surprising insight from tech entrepreneur and longevity experimenter Bryan Johnson. Despite spending millions of dollars on cutting-edge health interventions, Johnson publicly shared that the single most impactful factor in improving his health wasn't a supplement, device, or medical procedure — it was behavior change. Erin breaks down why this matters for health coaches and why the future of healthcare will require experts who understand human behavior, motivation, and habit formation. While technology can deliver information and diagnostics, sustainable health outcomes depend on implementation — and that's where coaching becomes indispensable. If you're a health coach wondering where you fit in a rapidly evolving health-tech world, this episode will reframe your role and highlight why your work is more essential than ever. Episode Overview 0:00 – The Longevity Experiment That Changed the Conversation Erin introduces the work of Bryan Johnson and explains why his multimillion-dollar longevity experiment highlights the power of behavior change. 01:57 – The True Role of a Health Coach Health coaches are not simply accountability partners — they are specialists in applied behavior change and implementation. 03:20 – Why the Market Undervalues Behavior Change Behavior change is slow, unflashy, and difficult to monetize, which is why the health industry often prioritizes products and interventions instead. 05:40 – Technology vs. Human Coaching Tools like wearables, GLP-1 medications, and tracking apps still rely on human behavior to produce lasting outcomes. 07:00 – Why Human-to-Human Coaching Still Matters Erin shares how meaningful conversations with clients often drive more progress than tracking endless biometric data. 09:13 – The Future of Health Coaching As healthcare becomes more technologically advanced, the demand for experts in motivation, habit formation, and behavior architecture will only increase. Key Concepts in This Episode Behavior Change Is the Master Lever While supplements, devices, and medical procedures can influence health outcomes, long-term transformation happens through consistent behavioral patterns. Information Is Not the Problem Modern healthcare provides abundant data and knowledge. The real challenge is helping individuals implement and sustain meaningful changes. Coaching Bridges the Gap Between Knowledge and Action Health coaches help clients translate information into real-world habits through motivational interviewing, identity shifts, and values-driven goal setting. Technology Needs Human Integration Wearables, medications, and digital tools can support health improvements — but without behavior change, they rarely produce sustainable results. The Growing Value of Coaching As longevity science and health technology evolve, professionals who understand behavior architecture and human motivation will become increasingly essential. 6. Invisible ADHD, Women, and Directive Coaching with Shanna Pearson

    Show notes

In this guest episode, Erin Power sits down with Shanna, founder of ADHD Coaching and author of Invisible ADHD, to unpack why ADHD in women is often missed, what it feels like to live undiagnosed, and what support can look like when coaching is built specifically for ADHD brains.

They talk about the emotional side of ADHD, decision paralysis, misdiagnosis, and why Shanna's coaching model is intentionally high-touch and directive: doing tasks together, practicing skills in real time, and using accountability to create momentum.

    Episode Overview

1:01:36 Where to find Shanna + how coaches can apply

    1:02:48 Closing (episode ends ~1:02:48)

    Key Concepts in This Episode

    Invisible ADHD in Women

Shanna explains that many women's ADHD symptoms are internal and emotional, which can keep them under the radar and lead to mislabeling as anxiety or depression.

    Compartmentalization and Emotional Flooding

A key framework in the episode is the inability to compartmentalize, which can make emotions, tasks, and decisions feel like they all hit at once.

    Decision Paralysis

Shanna describes how too many open "paths" in the mind can make it hard to choose, follow through, and feel settled after decisions.

Why ADHD Is Not a Superpower

Shanna challenges the trend of calling ADHD a superpower, arguing it can make people feel worse or delay them from learning practical management skills.

    Directive, High-Touch Coaching

Instead of only asking insight-based questions, Shanna's coaching model focuses on real-time action: doing tasks together, role-playing conversations, and making plans that are individualized and highly supported.

    Accountability and Skill Practice

Progress is built through repetition and simple weekly practice. Accountability is positioned as essential, not optional.

    Keep It Simple

Tools like short to-do lists and habit "piggybacking" are discussed as practical ways to reduce overwhelm and increase follow-through.

  7. The Death of Wellness Optimism: Why Simplicity May Be the Future of Health

    Show notes

Is the era of endless biohacking, tracking, and hyper-optimization finally coming to an end?

In this thought-provoking solo episode, Erin Power explores a cultural shift happening inside the wellness industry. For years, wellness culture promoted the belief that with enough gadgets, supplements, protocols, and data tracking we could essentially engineer our way to perfect health.

    But something is changing.

Many people are now experiencing wellness overwhelm — fatigue from constant self-optimization, conflicting health advice, and the pressure to execute perfect routines.

Erin breaks down why this shift matters for health coaches and how it may signal the beginning of a more mature, sustainable era of health. Instead of chasing trends and miracle protocols, people are increasingly seeking simplicity, sustainability, and real behavior change.

For health coaches, this moment may represent a powerful opportunity to return to what has always worked: helping people build quiet, consistent habits that support long-term wellbeing.

    Episode Overview

0:00 The End of the Optimization Era Erin introduces the idea of the "death of wellness optimism," the belief that health can be perfectly engineered through constant optimization, tracking, and technology.

3:52 From Wellness Optimism to Wellness Overwhelm Why people are burning out from endless metrics, gadgets, and conflicting health advice — and why many clients are now craving simpler and more sustainable approaches.

6:27 The Problem with Performative Wellness Cold plunges, biohacking gadgets, and Instagram-ready wellness routines may look impressive, but the most effective health behaviors remain the simplest ones.

13:28 The Rise of "Tragic Optimism" Drawing from Viktor Frankl's philosophy, Erin explains why accepting life's challenges — rather than trying to control everything — may lead to a healthier and more realistic approach to wellness.

17:22 What This Means for Health Coaches As clients move away from extreme optimization, coaches have an opportunity to focus on what truly matters: behavior change, sustainable habits, and long-term health practices.

    Key Ideas in This Episode

    Wellness Overwhelm

Many consumers are experiencing burnout from:

    • Tracking every metric

    • Constant health trends

    • Complex supplement protocols

    • Information overload

People are increasingly asking a simple question:

What if I just lived in my body instead of trying to optimize every variable?

    Performative Wellness vs. Real Health

Many modern wellness trends are visually impressive but not necessarily impactful.

    Examples include:

    • Cold plunges

    • Red light therapy

    • Vibration plates

    • Expensive supplement stacks

Meanwhile, the foundational habits that truly support health are far less glamorous:

    • Sleep

    • Strength training

    • Whole, unprocessed foods

    • Sunlight exposure

    • Movement

    • Social connection

    • Stress regulation

These "boring basics" remain the most reliable drivers of health outcomes.

    The Shift Toward Quiet Consistency

Instead of intense, unsustainable routines, the next era of wellness may focus on quiet consistency.

    This includes:

    • Sustainable daily habits

    • Moderate effort over extreme protocols

    • Long-term behavior change

    • Listening to the body rather than obsessing over data

Consistency may not be flashy, but it is durable — and durability wins in the long game of health.

    Tragic Optimism and Realistic Wellness

Borrowing from Viktor Frankl's philosophy of tragic optimism, Erin highlights an important truth:

Life inevitably includes struggle, uncertainty, and loss.

Trying to "biohack" our way out of life's challenges is unrealistic.

    A healthier mindset may involve:

    • Accepting imperfection

    • Embracing emotional complexity

    • Pursuing health while acknowledging life's realities

This creates a more mature and grounded approach to wellbeing.

    The Opportunity for Health Coaches

As wellness culture evolves, the role of the health coach may become even more valuable.

Rather than acting as optimization technicians, coaches may increasingly serve as:

    • Behavior change specialists

    • Guides for sustainable lifestyle habits

    • Partners in long-term health transformation

Clients aren't necessarily looking for more dashboards or data.

They are looking for clarity, simplicity, and freedom.

And that is exactly where coaching shines.

    Final Takeaway

The death of wellness optimism is not the end of health.

It may simply mark the end of the fantasy that we can control everything.

What replaces it is something quieter and more sustainable:

    Consistency

    Simplicity

    Self-trust

And a deeper understanding of what it means to live well in a human body.

Lauren supports boutique fitness, wellness, and recovery studio owners in building profitable, sustainable businesses. 3:30 Shame, fear, and avoidance around money

    7:10 Understanding and simplifying a P&L

1:11:30 How Lauren works with clients

1:16:00 Where to find Lauren and closing (episode ends ~71:09)

    Key Concepts in This Episode

Financial Shame and Avoidance Many founders avoid their numbers due to fear, overwhelm, or lack of education. This avoidance often blocks clear decision-making and growth.

  10. Menopause, Stress, and Cutting Through the Noise with Bree Rudner

    Episode 336

    Show notes

Why does the menopause transition feel so overwhelming for modern women — and why are so many clients stuck in information overload?

In this episode of Health Coach Radio, Erin Power sits down with Bree Rudner, a health coach specializing in women in their 40s and 50s and a coach on Dr. Mindy Pelz's team.

Bree shares her personal journey from an autoimmune diagnosis in her late 30s to building a coaching practice rooted in physical foundations, mental well-being, and simplicity. Together, Erin and Bree explore why confusion has become one of the biggest barriers to progress — and how health coaches can create relief by removing decision fatigue and focusing on what actually works.

    What This Conversation Covers

    From autoimmune diagnosis to coaching

Bree recounts navigating the low-fat era, developing rheumatoid arthritis, and ultimately reclaiming her health through nutrition and lifestyle changes. When others began asking how she did it, coaching became the natural next step.

    Quick wins build trust

Bree explains why she starts with the physical body, especially blood sugar regulation. Protein is her go-to "quiet win" because it increases satiety, reduces cravings, and gives clients fast, tangible results.

Stress is the elephant in the room

Many women resist admitting they're stressed, believing they have it handled. Bree breaks down how the "superwoman" mindset, constant rushing, and multiple roles quietly deplete women during midlife.

    Confusion is the modern barrier

Today's clients aren't lacking information — they're drowning in it. Bree shares why health coaches provide massive value by offering a structured, personalized framework that allows clients to tune out the noise.

    Fasting as decision relief

Working with Dr. Mindy Pelz reinforced how fasting can be helpful not just metabolically, but psychologically. Removing constant food decisions creates mental space and lowers stress for many women.

    Midlife and the culture clash

Women in menopause were shaped by the thin ideal of the 1990s, which conflicts with the current need for protein, strength training, and muscle preservation. This disconnect creates frustration and resistance during the transition.

    Testing as validation

Bree discusses how functional testing like the DUTCH test helps clients feel seen and validated when traditional labs look "normal" despite persistent symptoms.

Episode Timestamps 0:33 Bree's health journey and autoimmune diagnosis 3:40 Starting with physical foundations for quick wins 5:43 Protein as a powerful first intervention 7:36 Stress as the hidden driver of symptoms 11:47 Chronic rushing and depletion in midlife 13:40 Confusion as a major coaching challenge 14:15 Fasting and decision fatigue 18:13 Menopause as an initiation, not a failure 20:17 Meditation as an anchor 27:06 Gen X diet culture vs midlife needs 33:00 DUTCH testing and client validation 40:00 Working with Dr. Mindy Pelz 42:26 Reframing menopause and aging well 51:40 The most rewarding part of Bree's work

  11. The New Dietary Guidelines: What Changed, What Didn't, and What Health Coaches Need to Know

    Show notes

The 2026 Dietary Guidelines for Americans have sparked intense debate across the health and wellness world. In this solo episode, Erin Power breaks through the noise to offer a grounded, professional, and unbiased perspective on what these updated guidelines actually mean for health coaches and their clients.

Rather than celebrating or criticizing the guidelines, Erin walks listeners through what has genuinely shifted, what remains the same, and why this moment matters more philosophically than practically. She explains why population level nutrition guidance rarely changes individual behavior, how the new emphasis on metabolic health and protein reflects a broader cultural inflection point, and why none of this changes the core role of the health coach.

This episode is a call for nuance, professionalism, and restraint. If you've felt pulled into polarized online arguments about nutrition policy or unsure how to discuss the new guidelines with clients, this conversation will help you stay grounded, client led, and firmly within scope.

  12. Understanding Symptomatology: A Practical Tool for Health Coaches

    Show notes

In this solo, unscripted episode of Health Coach Radio, Erin Power dives into a deceptively simple — yet incredibly powerful — concept for health coaches: symptomatology. While the word itself may sound clinical or dry, Erin reframes symptomatology as a practical, ethical, and client-centered tool that fits squarely within a health coach's scope of practice.

This episode explores how health coaches can work skillfully with client-reported symptoms without diagnosing, treating, or crossing professional boundaries. Erin explains how symptom self-assessments can support awareness, pattern recognition, behavior change, and more productive conversations between coaches and clients.

If you've ever felt unsure about how to discuss symptoms without "playing doctor," or you want a clearer, more confident way to guide clients using the information they already bring to the table — this episode will give you clarity, confidence, and practical direction.

    Episode Overview

1:15 – What Symptomatology Actually Means

2:20 – Why Symptomatology Sounds Boring (But Isn't)

3:05 – Scope of Practice: What Health Coaches Can and Cannot Do

    4:10 – Using Symptom Self-Assessments Ethically

5:30 – Symptoms as Client-Reported Data, Not Diagnoses

7:05 – Pattern Recognition and Behavior Change

9:10 – Helping Clients Build Awareness Without Labels

11:05 – Empowering Clients Through Language and Observation

13:20 – Common Mistakes Coaches Make When Discussing Symptoms

15:10 – How Symptomatology Builds Trust and Buy-In

17:05 – Final Thoughts and Practical Takeaways for Coaches

    19:10 – Episode Wrap-Up

    Key Concepts in This Episode

What Symptomatology Is (and Is Not)

Symptomatology refers to the collection and observation of symptoms as reported by the client — without interpretation, diagnosis, or medical judgment. It allows coaches to stay firmly within scope while still working meaningfully with real client experiences.

    Staying Within Scope of Practice

Health coaches are not diagnosticians. Erin explains how symptom tracking and self-assessment tools help coaches guide reflection and lifestyle change without making medical claims or recommendations.

Symptoms as Feedback, Not Problems to Fix

Rather than treating symptoms as enemies to eliminate, this episode reframes them as useful signals that can inform behavior, habits, and self-awareness.

    Client Language Matters

Using the client's own words — instead of clinical labels — strengthens trust, clarity, and collaboration. Symptomatology keeps the coaching relationship grounded in the client's lived experience.

    From Confusion to Clarity

When used correctly, symptom self-assessments reduce overwhelm and help clients see patterns over time, making the coaching process feel more tangible and actionable.

    Who This Episode Is For

  13. From Vegan Icon to Regenerative Rancher (and Why Soil Changes Everything) with Mollie Engelhart

    Episode 332

    Show notes

This is not a diet debate. In this episode of Health Coach Radio, Erin Power sits down with Mollie Engelhart, a former vegan icon and celebrated Los Angeles restaurateur whose identity and livelihood were built on plant-based ideology. Today, Mollie is a regenerative farmer and cattle rancher in Texas. That transition cost her millions of dollars, professional relationships, and public approval — and she would still do it again. This conversation explores what happens when evidence and lived experience challenge deeply held beliefs, especially when those beliefs are tied to morality, identity, and income. What This Conversation Covers Changing your mind publicly Mollie shares the hardest version of change: shifting beliefs when you are financially dependent on being right. Her move away from veganism began with curiosity about soil health and regenerative agriculture and led to a deeper understanding of food systems and responsibility. The myth of "harmless" food Plant-based food is often framed as bloodless or impact-free. Mollie explains why all agriculture involves death and disruption, whether through fertilizers, tilling, harvesting, or monocropping. The difference is whether that impact supports regeneration or industrial extraction. Vegan ethics vs. ecological reality Mollie honors the ethical motivations behind veganism while explaining why simplified moral frameworks break down when viewed at the ecosystem level, particularly when influenced by industrial interests. From rescue to stewardship Humans are meant to be active stewards (Keystone species), not isolated observers, of nature. We must stop treating the symptoms of a broken system and re-engage with the natural order. Why soil changes everything Mollie's central message is clear: the soil is not depleted, it is biologically dead. She explains why microbes are essential for nutrient availability, how modern food contributes to metabolic dysfunction, and why human health is inseparable from soil health. The small farm diet Rather than rigid food labels, Mollie advocates for a small farm diet: local, seasonal, human-scaled, and intentionally inconvenient. Convenience, she argues, has quietly replaced resilience.

  14. Biggest Obstacles to Health Coaching Success

    Episode 335

    Show notes

In this solo episode, Erin Power walks through the top obstacles health coaches report facing on their path to success. Drawing from an end-of-year survey conducted with students and graduates of Primal Health Coach Institute, Erin breaks down why these challenges persist, why they are completely solvable, and how coaches can begin addressing them right now.

The three most common obstacles identified were: finding paying clients, confidence in marketing and business development, and navigating technology. Erin reframes each of these as learnable skills rather than fixed limitations.

    Episode Overview

0:00 Intro and context for the end-of-year survey

2:45 Scope of practice and industry responsibility

5:10 The survey question: biggest obstacles to coaching success

    6:10 Top three obstacles identified

8:00 Obstacle #1: Finding paying clients

11:10 Why there are more than enough clients

14:30 Clients find you when you put yourself out there

17:30 Obstacle #2: Confidence in marketing

20:10 Confidence is built through execution, not perfection

    23:40 Obstacle #3: Technology

26:00 Simple tech stack for getting started

30:30 Final encouragement and closing thoughts (episode ends ~34:41)

    Key Concepts in This Episode

Finding Paying Clients Erin emphasizes that there are far more potential clients than any one coach could ever serve. The challenge is not demand, but visibility. Clients must be able to find you and understand what you offer.

Marketing Builds Confidence Confidence does not come before action. It is earned through repetition, experimentation, and being willing to publish imperfect work.

Low Stakes, High Return Early marketing efforts often reach very few people, which actually lowers the risk. This gives coaches room to practice and improve.

Technology as a Skillset Booking links, websites, payment processors, and forms are framed as accessible tools designed for beginners. Most platforms offer help and support for non-technical users.

Customer Journey Awareness Erin encourages coaches to think like consumers themselves, using their own experiences as guides to create smooth, intuitive client experiences.

  15. Confidence, Resilience, and the "Boring" Work That Makes You Great with Jeff LoVecchio

    Episode 334

    Show notes

What actually creates confidence? Not hype. Not motivation. Not mindset quotes. In this episode of Health Coach Radio, Erin Power sits down with Jeff LoVecchio, former professional hockey player, founder of Give More Training (GMT) and Give More Advising (GMA), and co-host of the Hockey Think Tank podcast (2M+ downloads).

Jeff has trained more than 3,500 youth athletes across five locations and works with elite performers at every level. But this conversation goes far beyond hockey. This is a grounded, practical discussion about how confidence is earned through daily action, why resilience is a skill you train, how overthinking keeps people stuck, and why the unglamorous fundamentals are what actually produce results in sport, health, business, and life.

If you coach humans who struggle with consistency, self-trust, or follow-through, this episode delivers powerful insight you can apply immediately.

What You'll Learn in This Episode

Confidence is built through proof, not encouragement. Jeff shares how a major injury at 17 forced him into weight training and how measurable progress created unshakable confidence. Not because someone believed in him, but because his actions gave him evidence.

Resilience is trained, not inherited. From getting cut at age 12 to navigating 14 concussions, Jeff explains the mindset shift most people miss: you cannot control what happens, but you always control your response.

Why overthinking kills momentum: Fixating on long-term outcomes without acting on the next step leads to fear and paralysis. Jeff's "rocking chair" metaphor perfectly captures why movement without action gets people nowhere.

The hidden cost of early specialization: Youth athletes may look skilled early, but many lack basic movement capacity and adaptability. Jeff explains why multi-sport exposure builds better athletes and more resilient humans.

The fundamentals win every time. Warm-ups, breathing, recovery, and consistency may be boring, but they are non-negotiable. The people who respect the process are the ones who get results.

Self-talk shapes behavior. Your internal narrative drives daily decisions. Strengthen identity and self-trust, and actions naturally align. This insight maps directly to behavior-change coaching and habit formation.

  16. Predictions for Health Coaching in 2026

    Episode 332

    Show notes

In this unscripted solo episode, Erin Power shares her thoughts, feelings, and predictions for the health coaching industry in 2026. She reflects on what she's seeing as a practicing health coach and health coach educator, and what those shifts may mean for coaches who are building their businesses.

Erin's core prediction: a large segment of the health consumer will become increasingly fatigued by constant marketing and quick-fix promises, and will start looking for something more real, more trusted, and more human.

She breaks down how she's responding in her own business: doubling down on trust-building, delivering value, long-form content (podcasts and YouTube), and more live human connection, while still acknowledging that low-ticket, influencer-style models may continue to work for part of the market.

    Episode Overview

0:00 Intro + why Erin is thinking about health coaching in 2026

    1:42 Erin's main prediction for 2026

4:20 Consumer fatigue: constant ads, hooks, and marketing everywhere

7:05 "Miracle hopping" and why Erin doesn't want to play in the miracle market

10:06 Choosing who you want to work with (and who you don't)

10:34 Trust-building + delivering value as the strategy

10:48 Social media shift: putting more real life in the feed (not just stories)

13:09 Email list: emailing more often to build relationship (without perfect polish)

14:58 Cross-posting and showing up on more platforms (TikTok/YouTube Shorts/LinkedIn)

18:18 Long-form content as a trust engine: YouTube + podcast (and keeping it simple)

24:00 Human-to-human connection: free no-pitch workshops and live interaction

27:53 Closing thoughts (episode ends around 27:55)

    Key Concepts in This Episode

Marketing Fatigue + the "Miracle Market" Erin describes how many consumers are tired of being sold quick fixes (programs, supplements, plans, and "miracles") every time they open their phones, and how this can create skepticism and burnout.

    "Miracle Hopping" vs. Long-Term Transformation

She contrasts low-commitment purchases with the kind of long-term coaching relationships that create real change, and explains why she prefers clients who are ready to invest time, energy, and attention.

    Trust Building + Delivering Value

Instead of constant pitching, Erin focuses on showing up consistently, being a real person, and offering useful content that helps people decide, in their own time, whether they want to work with her.

Visibility Through Authenticity (Feed vs. Stories)

Erin shares her choice to put more of her real life into her feed so potential clients can actually get to know her, not just a curated business image.

Long-Form Content: Podcast + YouTube as Trust Engines

She recommends coaches consider starting a podcast or YouTube channel, emphasizing that it doesn't need to be perfect. The goal is to exist consistently and let people binge, learn, and build familiarity.

    Human-to-Human Connection

Erin believes real relationship will be even more valuable as tech and AI grow, and mentions more live experiences like workshops, events, and community-based connection.

  17. Seed Oils: Sorting Fact from Fear in Modern Nutrition

    Episode 331

    Show notes

Seed oils have become one of the most controversial topics in the modern nutrition world. Depending on who you follow, they're either toxic, inflammatory villains destroying metabolic health… or harmless, misunderstood ingredients wrongly blamed for everything.

In this solo episode, Erin Power brings clarity to the confusion by breaking down the ancestral perspective, the modern scientific evidence, and the real world nuance coaches need when discussing seed oils with clients. Instead of taking sides, Erin shows how to stay curious, evaluate claims with integrity, and guide clients without fear based messaging.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice around seed oils or wondered what to actually tell your clients, this episode brings the grounded, unbiased perspective you've been missing.

    Episode Overview

0:00 Why Seed Oils Spark Confusion

    0:34 Ancestral Health Perspective

3:19 Industrial Processing and Mismatch Ideas

    7:51 What Research Actually Shows

11:15 Seed Oils vs Ultra Processed Foods

14:54 How Coaches Can Talk About This Without Dogma

    Key Concepts in This Episode

    Ancestral Viewpoint

Erin explains the concerns raised by ancestral and primal thinkers like Mark Sisson, including: • Industrial processing and evolutionary mismatch • High Omega 6 content and theoretical inflammation pathways • How modern diets differ dramatically from traditional fat sources

    Scientific Evidence

Modern research paints a more nuanced picture: • Human studies do not show seed oils causing inflammation • Linoleic acid is often correlated with lower inflammation • Replacing saturated fats with polyunsaturated fats can lower LDL • The real issue tends to be Omega 3 deficiency, not Omega 6 excess

    Ultra Processed Food Context

Seed oils appear most often in foods that are: • Hyper palatable • Shelf stable • High in refined carbs, additives, and excess calories This makes seed oils more of a marker for processed foods rather than the root cause of poor health.

How Coaches Should Approach the Topic

Erin models a grounded, non judgmental coaching stance: • Avoid extremes and absolutist thinking • Confront your own nutrition biases • Guide clients toward big picture patterns • Validate concerns while offering nuance • Focus on what clients can realistically change

The goal isn't to demonize seed oils — it's to help clients make clearer, calmer, more informed decisions.

  18. Becoming Visible: PR, Mindset, and Personal Branding with Kayley Hamilton

    Episode 330

    Show notes

Why do so many health coaches stay invisible, even though they want to grow their practice, impact lives, and attract clients who truly need them? In this powerful episode, Erin Power sits down with Kayley Hamilton — former Hollywood red carpet reporter turned PR agency founder — to unpack the mindset, identity shifts, and practical strategies health and wellness coaches need to become confidently visible.

Kayley shares her story of going from "the shy girl" who couldn't speak up in class to interviewing A-list celebrities, winning Emmy Awards, and eventually launching a PR agency that helps wellness experts amplify their mission. She breaks down her signature 3 E's Framework for overcoming self-doubt, shifting identity, building a magnetic personal brand, and stepping into the future version of yourself who is ready to be seen.

If you struggle with imposter syndrome, fear of visibility, or uncertainty about how to talk about your work publicly, this conversation will feel like a breakthrough moment.

    Key Concepts in This Episode

The 3 E's Framework for Identity Shifts

    Expanders

Find people living the life you want to show your brain what's possible.

    Experience

Use imagination, visualization, and daydreaming to "rehearse" the future you.

    Embody

Act as the higher version of yourself today rather than waiting for "someday."

    Visibility as Service, Not Ego

Kayley reframes visibility as an act of service — not self-promotion. Coaches block their purpose when they hide. The clients who need them most can only find them if they choose to be seen.

    Mindset Over Mechanics

Imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and fear of judgment keep most coaches stuck. Kayley explains why imagination, self-concept, emotional regulation, and daily alignment practices matter more than tactics when building a brand.

    Daily Alignment Practices

    Morning affirmations

    Meditation with the Activations app

    Walking and getting-ready meditations

Movement to ground the nervous system

Avoiding social media first thing in the morning

    2. Leaving Your Full Time Job

Instead of thinking about a "leap," Erin encourages coaches to think in steps. From evaluating your financial needs to building your client base gradually, she offers a realistic approach to transitioning into full time coaching without panic or burnout.

    3. Pricing Your Coaching

Why clarity and confidence matter more than the number itself, how to avoid "explaining" your price, and how Change Talk naturally leads to the moment where pricing is simply a logistical step.
