Hi, Strangeness

Jason Andrews is back, and he has an incredible new book called SURFACE: AN INVESTIGATOR'S DESCENT INTO THE TRUE CRIME, OCCULT SYNCHRONICITIES, AND HIGH STRANGENESS OF WESTERN KENTUCKY. Shocker, this book rules! Jason and I get deep into the lore of this book, and his wild personal experiences doing the research. I highly recommend picking up a copy!

Howdy howdy, friends. This week, we have Michael Hughes back on the show! I've been wanting to cover this specific subject matter for a while now, and Michael was just the person to help me out. Esoteric right-wing extremism has been an ugly specter on all the various genres of esoterica, the paranormal, and UFOlogy since their incarnations. Michael and I discuss some of the uglier sides of this. Michael also tells us about the deep history on some of these scary angles on extremism. I hope you all get something out of this look into some of the darker corners, which I feel need to be discussed from time to time. Thanks!

The Final Installment of Spooky Summer!

I just want to say thank you Jason Andrews for helping to steer the ship during the dog days of summer. Great work, buddy!

Few people have come into Jason's life quite like Matthew Byrd. A research partner, a friend, a gentleman, and a scholar; Matthew Byrd climbs up from the linimal wreckage of what remains of the Paranormal Patio to talk about channeling, channelers, and the opossum people.

This week, our guest is Nomar Slevik! Nomar has been researching, writing, and documenting all things strange and unusual in the lovely state of Maine since he was just a little lad. He was kind of enough to regale us with some of his favorite stories, and some of his amazing personal encounters. This episode is a true Fortean buffet of weridness - I enjoyed it so much!

Howdy there, friends! This week our guest is Vincent Treewell! Vincent is a researcher and host of The Weird Part podcast (currently on hiatus but not for long!). Hey hey! I'm back, and with me is my good buddy, and very first guest on Hi, Strangeness, Greg Bishop! Greg is a long time researcher/deep thinker in the UFO game. He's been somewhat of a UFO mentor to me, and his books are essential reading, IMO. On this episode, we get into the limitations of language, art as a means of expressing the UFO experience, and the aimless road of UFO disclosure. This is a fun one!

Thanks for everyone's patience as I continue to adjust to a busier work schedule. Deeply appreciated! Enjoy!

Oooooohh buddies, I have a fascinating episode for you! John Carlson is my guest this week, and it is a doozy. I don't want to say too much in this description, I'll just say this: If you dig portals and otherworldly creatures coming out of said portals, then this episode is for you! Below, I've linked John's six-part (so good!) blog on the events, and I've also attached the original Binnall of America episode (with Tim's permission, of course) with Adam Davies and John. I think you're really going to enjoy this! Peace.

Yes, friends! This week we have on my good pal, Nicole Launius. Nicole is a kindred spirit, and is not afraid to get her boots dirty. We cover a bunch of topics: her recent foray into energy magic, her exploratory trip to New Orleans, her methods of investigation, and some of her experiences while out in the field of wonderful weirdness. Nicole is always up to fun stuff, and it was great to catch up with her. Enjoy!

Spooky Summer - Benjamin Silas Foster - It's Always Midnight in Kentucky

One of Jason's dearest friends, Ben Foster, joins Hi Strangeness to talk turkey. Folks, we know you like it weird. We know you like outsider art. It's in the intro...it's pretty darn cool. In this episode, Ben walks us through some examples of art being influenced by "the other". Jason and Ben will discuss several of these cases and (as always) riff on the mysterious and beautiful Kentucky!

Well hello, good buddies! This week, we have everyone's favorite bigfoot collector, Michael McMillian back on the show! Michael and I ping pong through some well known, and obscure Kansas cryptid cases. Michael is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to weirdness in the sunflower state, and he surprised me with a handful of cases I'd never heard of. We're talking headless phantoms, giants bears, bigfoot, giant worms, wolf girls and so much more. If you haven't yet (what are you waiting for!?), go check out The Bigfoot Collector's Club Podcast. It's an absolute gem! Enjoy!

Howdy there friends! This week, I'm psyched to bring on the great Timothy Renner! This has been a long time coming for me - I've referenced his work so many times on the show, and I'm just a huge fan of him and his incredible work. On this meeting, we discuss his new book THE KEYSTONE HAGSTONE, and folks, this book is a banger! Holy smokes I just could not have loved it anymore. If faeries, gnomes, witches (and so much more) are your thing (it's definitely mine!) then this is the episode for you. I had an absolute blast with my new buddy...I have a feeling we will do this again. I could talk with him for hours. Thanks, and enjoy this episode!

Hi friends - this week, Richard Estep is back on the show to chat about a lovely array of weird topics. I was lucky enough to meet up with Richard (IRL) in Council Bluffs at The Squirrell Cage Jail for an incredible conversation. This episode is kind of a continuation of our hang sesh, covering ghosts, metaphysical cryptids, UFOs and more. Richard is such a wonderful conversationalist, and one heck of a writer. I highly recommend his books! Enjoy!

This week, our guests are Chris Lost and Scott Hartley from the wonderful indie rock band, Suneaters. We explore the freedom of art, the deeper ideas of music, and stories of meeting William S. Burroughs. This was a fun departure for me from the usual Forteanna coverd on the show. Check out their new album “Heroic Dose”...so good!
