Hi, I’m Jenny, homeschool mom of 5 kids, former special education teacher, with 8 years of homeschooling experience.
Over the past three years I discovered that some of my children had unique learning and attention needs. I tried to find ways to outsource their education because I was afraid of failing. I finally realized that God had given me everything I needed to homeschool my kids.
I created a homeschool rhythm and systems to support our household. A straightforward approach that starts with what’s most important to us. A framework that includes practical solutions and the flexibility my kids need. And I’m looking forward to sharing it with you!

30 Why Does Homeschool Feel So Hard Even When You Aren't a Beginner?
Show notes
Are you in a homeschool rut?
Maybe things feel harder or your kids are more resistant to “do school”?
Or are your kid’s meltdowns and breakdowns wearing you out?
Homeschooling kids with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, or other learning challenges is really challenging. At this point of the school year things might not feel as exciting, motivating, or the clarity has gotten foggy.
In this episode, let’s acknowledge what’s hard together. Three reasons why homeschooling feels hard or heavy right now, like:
• The novelty has worn off.
• Pressure and demands for your kids keep increasing, which often means meltdowns or dysregulation do too.
• You’re feeling tired or discouragedMost importantly, I’ll give you some key shifts that will encourage you, help your mindset, or at least have tools to keep moving forward.

29 Homeschool Math Anxiety? Try Visual & Story Approaches for Struggling Students with Kelli Pearson
Show notes
Is math causing battles or anxiety in your household?
Is your child telling you that they “just don’t get it” when you work on math?
If math doesn’t seem to connect and causes frustration for you or your child, you will enjoy this conversation with Kelli Pearson about her own journey from not getting math for 30 years to finally figuring out that her brain worked differently. This is an encouraging conversation for parents with neurodivergent kids (i.e., adhd, autism spectrum, dyscalculia) or kids who are just struggling with math who need a “non-mathy” approach.
Kelli Pearson is an educator, author, and founder of Artful Math, where she helps kids learn math with understanding, confidence, and joy. Drawing on more than 25 years of teaching experience, Kelli brings math to life through stories, games, and real-world problem solving. Her work is grounded in the belief that every child is capable of mathematical thinking—and that kids learn more deeply when they can explore it, make sense of it, and connect it to things that matter.

26 How Unit Studies & Interest-led Learning Help Kids Find Identity & Purpose: A Chat with Camila Johnson
Show notes
Is your child burned out from “doing school”?
What if following their interests could help bring the joy back to learning?
In this episode, I’m talking with Camila Johnson about unit studies, interest-led learning, and raising lifelong learners. Camila shares about challenges she faced raising her sons with ADHD and then becoming a homeschool mom later in life and creating an herbalism unit study. We talk about how following our kids’ curiosity can make learning more engaging, meaningful, and fun.
Because homeschooling doesn’t have to be about checking every box. It can be an opportunity to explore our kids’ interests, nurture their gifts, and help them become who they’re created to be.

24 Overwhelmed By Your Child's Needs? 5 Steps To Narrow Down To One Big Goal
Show notes
Feeling overwhelmed by everything you have to do as a homeschool mom?
Not sure how to work on all your neurodivergent child’s needs?
What if you could narrow down to just one big goal?
In this episode, I walk through 5 steps to narrow down your list of goals for your kid(s) to pick one big goal that is important to you and your child.
• Define the goal (understand that a goal is a bundle of multiple different smaller skills)
• What are the prerequisite skills? What does your child need to be able to do or know?
• Where is my child today? What skills does he/she have?
• What are some natural ways we can incorporate skill practice in our home and homeschool?
• Reassess expectationsNote: This is not about IEP goals, but could be helpful in advocating for your child in that way.

20 How to Plan Homeschool Reading and Find Books for Resistant and Struggling Readers
Show notes
What do you do when your child is struggling with reading? Navigating reading challenges, dyslexia, or ADHD
How do you find good books that fit your child’s interests?
How do you turn your family read aloud into a time of connection rather than a battle?
In this episode, we discuss strategies to take the pressure off frustrated readers, ideas to support reluctant readers, how to find good books, and how to keep our book list organized!
*Note: I want to make a distinction before we get started. This isn't an episode about how to teach a child with dyslexia to read. There are wonderful specialists and evidence-based approaches for that. This episode is about something different: how do we keep books, stories, and reading joyful when reading itself is difficult?

What’s most important to do when you’re planning? Is it curriculum? Is it a co-op?
Planning your homeschool year doesn't have to feel overwhelming. In this episode, I’ll share some of my first year mistakes that taught me how to plan more intentionally. You'll learn how to build a homeschool year that fits your family's values, schedule, and goals.
Whether you're brand new to homeschooling or simply looking for a more intentional way to prepare for the year ahead, these six steps will help you create a clear roadmap with less stress and more confidence.
I’ll go over six key steps:
• How to create a weekly homeschool schedule that fits your family's life
• Why reflection is one of the most important parts of planning
• How to build a daily homeschool rhythm that supports consistency
• What your homeschool "spine" is and how it simplifies curriculum planning
• How to choose extracurriculars and enrichment activities without overscheduling
• Guidance for evaluating all your ideas and making decisionsRelated Resources from Homeschooling Systems for ADHD Families

16 5 Things Homeschooling Gives Children with ADHD That Traditional Schools Often Can't
Show notes
Have you ever wondered if your child is struggling because of ADHD—or because they're trying to learn in an environment that wasn't designed with neurodivergent brains in mind?
In this episode, I'm sharing five reasons why homeschooling can be such a powerful option for children with ADHD. This isn't about saying traditional schools are "bad." There are incredible teachers doing amazing work every day. But many ADHD learners need flexibility, individualized support, and opportunities to build executive functioning skills that are difficult to provide in a traditional classroom.
We'll talk about how homeschooling allows us to create a learning environment that supports regulation, teach the life skills our kids actually need, nurture their interests, and prepare them for a rapidly changing world. Most importantly, homeschooling gives us the opportunity to help our children grow into confident, capable adults while honoring the unique way God created them.

14 When Behavior Is Really a Regulation Challenge: A Conversation with OT Alison Foura
Show notes
Why do some behavior strategies seem to work for one child but completely fail with another?
What does "regulation" actually mean, and why does it matter so much for learning and behavior?
How can you tell if a challenging behavior is really a sign that your child is dysregulated?
In this episode, occupational therapist Alison Foura joins me from the Sensory Solutions for Parents podcast to explore the connection between regulation and behavior. We discuss what it is and how it impacts learning, attention, emotions, and behavior.
Whether you're navigating meltdowns, resistance, big emotions, or daily struggles with focus and transitions, this conversation will help you look beneath the behavior and better support your neurodivergent learner.
Save this quote from the conversation: Dr. Ross Greene says, “Kids do well when they can,” and those are words to live by when we’re raising up our kids!
