  1. Remember Going to the bank? (with Dave Baker of The Spazmatics)

    Episode 108

    Show notes

This week we have a very special episode with Jonah's childhood guitar teacher, Dave Baker, who is probably better known as the guitarist for the Spazmatics and country music sensation, Kellie Pickler. However before Dave was performing at the White House and flying into aircraft carriers, he was grabbing lunch at Alesci's in Solon and running into the First Todd at the bank on a seemingly daily basis! We discuss how Dave has been able to earn a living off playing guitar for over three decades, what it was like when a 15-year-old Jonah was a "roadie" for Dave's psychedelic-inspired rock band Trip and learn about Cleveland's notorious nineties glam-rock scene that we were a little too young to experience firsthand. Finally in a game of CHANGE DOT DORK we debate the merits of changing standard guitar tunings to drop C, bringing back the eighties era and should Dave's current homebase of Nashville get its first Skyline Chili? You'll have to listen to find out! To learn more about Dave, check out his music and media over at davebakerguitar.com.

  2. Remember Ghosts and Harmless Scams? (with Tomi Mikula of Delivrd)

    Episode 107

    Show notes

Get ready for an amazing podcast this week because Tomi Mikula of Deliverd has entered the chat! Despite not really being on social media, Tomi invaded Jonah's high-brow algorithm by negotiating with car dealers in a way that you have to watch to truly understand. But you don't have to be in the car market to enjoy this podcast because there are plenty of "add-ons" including Tomi's experience growing up in the middle of farm country in Iowa, how he organized an illegal raffle to win a Brownie-baking contest and, oh yeah, the fact that his best friend growing up WAS A GHOST???? If that's not enough, we discuss the way Tomi learned how to prank other people by watching his mom, who was a true master of committing to a joke. Speaking of which, we also discuss Tomi's ability to infuse his sense of humor into his work and why more regulation isn't the answer when it comes to getting a great deal on a car. Finally in a round of YESTOLGIA OR NOSTALIGA we discuss the return of Wendy's yellow color scheme, the Darkwing Duck reboot (not to be confused with all of the other duck-focused cartoons of yesteryear) and Dr Pepper's ambitious attempt at an ice cream float in a can. If you want to learn more or hire Tomi to negotiate your next deal, check out delivrd.com!
