Stressed and Overloaded? Three Things You Can Do Today
Show notes
Stress is widespread—and it can disrupt the very behaviors that help us recover. In this episode, Yvon introduces a practical three-step reset: Notice → Name → Next.
Learn how to move from vague overload to one specific pressure and one manageable action. A practical Human + AI example shows how an AI assistant can organize a generalized task list into what to act on, schedule, discuss or release—without diagnosing you or replacing human judgment.
Try this week: once a day, notice the signal, name the pressure and choose one ten-minute next step or one person to ask for help.

This episode asks why someone can sleep for eight hours and still feel tired. We look at sleep duration, sleep quality, a simple one-to-two-week sleep diary, and signs that deserve professional attention.
Try one small experiment: if your schedule allows, choose a more consistent wake-up time while protecting enough time for sleep. Record what you planned, review the week, and note what got in the way. AI can help organize a completely fictional diary by summarizing only what is recorded, marking missing information, and suggesting questions for a healthcare professional. Keep real health details private, check the output yourself, and leave diagnosis and treatment decisions to qualified professionals.

This episode asks how AI companionship fits into our social lives—and how to use AI to help initiate a human conversation while keeping empathy, initiative, and responsibility with us.
We compare a two-week experiment with 296 first-semester university students, a cross-sectional survey of 14,721 Japanese adults, an exploratory year-long study of 2,149 adults, and a recent review. These sources examine different populations and outcomes. Observational associations do not establish causation, and the year-long study's predictions concern four-month intervals.
Try this: choose one safe, ordinary relationship you want to give more attention to. Write your intention first. If useful, ask AI to make your invitation clearer without inventing feelings or promises. Edit it in your own voice, decide whether to send it, and listen to the response. One interaction is a reflection point, not proof that a technique works.

The Adoption Gap: Why Your Organization's AI Tools Aren't Being Used
Show notes
Human + AI Today by Innovation Lounge helps us protect and strengthen the distinctly human skills that matter most while we learn practical, evidence-based ways to work and live with AI. Each episode follows a simple loop: Learn what the evidence says, Try one useful practice, Share what happens, Join others doing the same, and Create Impact together. Discover your strengths and the human capabilities to build next: https://strengths.innovationlounge.app The Adoption Gap asks why organizations can deploy AI tools without creating regular, trusted use. Gallup's February 4–19, 2026 quarterly workforce survey of 23,717 employed U.S. adults (margin of sampling error ±0.9 percentage points) found about three in ten employees used AI frequently at work, while around four in ten said their organization had adopted AI. Gallup also reported that 18% thought their job might be eliminated within five years because of new technology, automation, robots, or AI; among workers at AI-adopting organizations, the figure was 23%. A second source is Fabrizio Dell'Acqua, Edward McFowland III, Ethan Mollick, Hila Lifshitz, Katherine C. Kellogg, Saran Rajendran, Lisa Krayer, François Candelon, and Karim R. Lakhani (2026), “Navigating the Jagged Technological Frontier,” Organization Science, published online March 11, 2026, 37(2):403–423. In a preregistered field experiment with 758 Boston Consulting Group knowledge workers across 18 tasks, AI users completed 12.2% more tasks, 25.1% faster, with higher quality on tasks within the observed frontier; on a complex task outside that frontier, correctness was 19 percentage points lower in the AI conditions than in the control condition. Results apply to the studied population and tasks; they do not establish universal effects. Try the ten-minute practice from the episode: choose one safe, nonconfidential recurring task; define the outcome, quality evidence, and judgment points; compare an approved AI system's output with your criteria; record what it improved, misunderstood, and what you kept for yourself. Do not enter confidential personnel, client, health, or proprietary information into public AI tools. Is AI Taking the Meaning Out of Work—and What We Can Do About It?
Show notes
Human + AI Today by Innovation Lounge helps us protect and strengthen the distinctly human skills that matter most while we learn practical, evidence-based ways to work and live with AI. Each episode is part of a simple loop: Learn what the evidence says, Try one useful practice, Share what happens, Join others doing the same, and Create Impact together. Try the Innovation Lounge StrengthsFinder to discover your strengths, compare your results, and identify the human capabilities to build next: https://strengths.innovationlounge.app
This episode asks what happens to meaning at work when artificial intelligence enters the room. We look at Gallup's engagement survey, an experimental Scientific Reports study of passive versus active AI use, and a cross-sectional Leadership and Organization Development Journal survey about AI-oriented leadership and trust. The evidence is informative, not a universal verdict: the leadership study shows associations rather than causality, and Gallup's engagement measure is not a causal measure of what AI is doing. In the Scientific Reports experiment, copy-and-paste self-efficacy was lower than no-AI; copy-and-paste ownership and meaningfulness were lower than both no-AI and human-first. The copy-and-paste versus human-first self-efficacy comparison was not statistically significant (p=.239). Active collaboration was comparable to no-AI on the key measures.
Practical experiment: choose one summary, draft, or plan you normally delegate to AI. Spend five minutes writing your own purpose, rough outline, and what matters first. Then use approved AI on nonconfidential material to extend your thinking. Notice whether you can explain the choices more clearly, then share the observation with one trusted colleague or practice partner. Never upload confidential personnel, client, or other sensitive material.

This episode asks where human judgment belongs when AI agents frame, act on, and learn from consequential decisions. We explore why uniform governance fails, how ambiguity and risk should shape decision rights, and why protecting the ability to question the frame may be the most important human capability in an agentic workplace.
Try this: take one AI-generated recommendation from your work and ask: Who defined the question? What assumptions are embedded in the frame? Would I have framed it differently from a blank page?

When AI Adds to Your To-Do List Instead of Shortening It
AI is supposed to reduce work—but poor implementation can create a “toggle tax” of alerts, re-entry, verification, and context switching. This episode explores how AI affects burnout, autonomy, cognitive load, trust, and psychological safety, and why assistive tools tend to help while monitoring and algorithmic control can do harm.
The takeaway: workplace wellbeing depends less on AI itself than on design choices, worker agency, and manager behavior.
Try this 15-minute experiment: choose one AI tool you use regularly and ask three questions. Does it increase or reduce your control? Does it remove cognitive load or add verification and switching? Does it support honest team conversation or blur accountability? Use the answers to change how the tool is used—or start a conversation with the person who can.

When AI Speeds Up Work But the Worker Slows Down

AI can accelerate work without improving the human experience of doing it. This episode explores new evidence on social comparison, exhaustion, algorithmic hygiene, and why AI-enabled productivity only becomes sustainable when leaders redesign pace, workload, monitoring, and worker participation alongside the technology.
Try this week’s experiment: choose one AI tool your team uses regularly, then hold a 15-minute sustainability check. Ask whether it has changed pace or volume expectations—and whether that pace is sustainable for the next year.

When AI Does the Work, Who Are We?
Show notes
What happens to purpose when AI starts doing more of the work?
This episode of Human + AI Today looks at self-fulfillment, identity, and meaningful contribution in the age of generative AI. A new ACC Intelligence survey suggests workers are not only worried about being replaced; many are worried about becoming dependent on AI, losing creativity, or feeling that AI-assisted work is somehow no longer truly theirs.
We connect that concern to research from the Journal of Business Ethics on meaningful creative work, the Italian Economic Journal on generativity and wellbeing, and the World Economic Forum on work as a source of dignity, belonging, and contribution.
Practical experiment: try a ten-minute contribution audit on one AI-assisted task. Ask where your judgment, expertise, or creative input genuinely shaped the outcome, and where AI may have quietly replaced the struggle that gives work meaning.

When AI Joins the Team
Show notes
AI is moving from personal assistant to active teammate inside channels, workflows, and enterprise platforms. In this episode, Human + AI Today looks at the Collaboration and Connection dimension of work: how AI can either strengthen team connection by reducing low-value coordination work, or weaken it by quietly replacing the moments where trust is built.
Drawing on Fortune, Gensler's 2026 Global Workplace Survey, Human-Computer Interaction research on human-AI teaming, Academy of Management proceedings, Workday's global survey, and arXiv research on unaccountable delegation and fading skills, the episode offers a practical team experiment: separate interactions that build trust from interactions that merely transfer information, then decide deliberately what AI should handle and what humans should protect.

The Purpose Variable

AI agents can execute decisions at scale, but they only optimize for the objectives we give them. In this episode, Human + AI Today looks at Purpose and Organizational Impact: how leaders make values, trade-offs, boundaries, and escalation paths explicit before AI starts acting on behalf of the organization. Drawing on Harvard Business Review, the World Economic Forum, Microsoft security research, npj Digital Medicine, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Morgan Stanley, the episode offers a practical five-minute governance experiment: choose one AI-supported decision and compare how the system reasons with how a thoughtful human would decide.

The Blurring Edge
Show notes
AI is not just changing how work gets done. It is changing who can do which parts of the work.
In this episode of Human + AI Today by Innovation Lounge, we look at OpenAI Economic Research's July 2026 Work at the Frontier research on task crossover: professionals using AI to perform work traditionally associated with other occupations. We connect that finding to SHRM's 2026 AI-in-HR research on shifting responsibilities, hybrid roles, and the continued need for human judgment.
The takeaway: AI can reduce bottlenecks between functions, but organizations need intentional role design so broader access does not become hollowed-out expertise.
Practical experiment: choose one task you usually hand off to a specialist, use AI to create a first draft or starting point, then bring both the output and your observations back to that colleague. Notice where AI helped and where human judgment still sets the ceiling.
