llegals: A Warning to Americans
Larry Alex Taunton issues a warning about what he says is coming to America through illegal immigration, drawing historical parallels to Athens and Rome and arguing that nations decline when prosperity breeds hedonism and depopulation. Citing his firsthand experience tracking caravans since 2019 and reporting from Mexico City, he claims cartels still smuggle people into the U.S. and argues these newcomers are tougher than Americans and do not share American law or culture.
He urges Christians not to abstain from voting, stresses the importance of borders, law enforcement, and how the unborn are treated, and calls for sensible immigration policy while supporting ICE and frontline organizations.
He also encourages personal engagement to change minds and emphasizes that America’s ultimate hope is spiritual revival and repentance through Jesus Christ.

Genesis & the Days of Creation Part 1| Professor John Lennox
Episode 227
Show notes
Did Genesis get it right? Can science and Scripture agree on the origins of the universe?
In this special two-part release of Ideas Have Consequences, Larry Alex Taunton revisits a fascinating 2009 conference talk by Oxford professor, mathematician, and Christian apologist John Lennox, exploring one of Christianity's most debated questions: How should we understand the creation account in Genesis?
Drawing on science, Scripture, philosophy, and history, Lennox examines the relationship between God's Word and God's creation, challenging the assumption that scientific discovery and biblical truth must be at odds.
From the age of the universe and the six days of creation to Galileo, biblical interpretation, and the fine-tuning of the cosmos, Lennox encourages Christians to approach Genesis with intellectual honesty, theological conviction, and humility.
In this episode:
Does Genesis contradict modern science?
What does the Bible actually mean by the six days of creation?
Can Christians disagree about Genesis while remaining faithful to Scripture?
What can Galileo teach us about interpreting the Bible?
Why does Genesis place humanity at the center of creation?
What does the fine-tuning of the universe reveal about its origins?
Whether you're a skeptic, a scientist, or a Christian wrestling with the creation account, this discussion offers a thoughtful examination of faith, reason, and the origins of our universe.

Dr. Jay Smith Disproves the Origins of Islam, Muhammad, the Quran and Mecca
Episode 220
Show notes
Dr. Jay Smith on Islam’s Origins: Sources, Mecca, Muhammad, and the Quran
Larry interviews Dr. Jay Smith, a Christian Islamicist and polemicist, who presents a visual, source-based critique of Islam’s origins focused on four areas: the reliability and timing of Islamic sources, the historical plausibility of Mecca, early evidence for Muhammad, and the compilation and preservation claims of the Quran. Smith argues that key Islamic biographies, hadith, tafsir, and histories appear 200–300 years after Muhammad and were produced far from Mecca and Medina, that early external and geographic evidence does not support Mecca’s centrality or even early existence, that early inscriptions and coinage suggest a later development of distinct Islamic identity and the term “Muhammad” as a title, and that multiple qira’at and manuscript variants challenge the claim of a single unchanged Quran. He concludes by urging Christians to use this material to point Muslims to Jesus and the Bible.

Laurence Fox Silenced a group of Oxford union Islamists | Eric Metaxas Show
Episode 219
Show notes
Eric Metaxas interviews Larry Taunton about a viral Oxford Union debate on the motion “the West should be suspicious of Islam,” featuring Lawrence Fox and Tommy Robinson.
Taunton explains he helped Fox prepare by treating the event as performance, recounts attempted cancellation pressure from the Bishop of Oxford, police, media, and a hostile crowd, and says the Union delayed releasing video.
They discuss a Muslim student’s opening remarks referencing a mob outside, and Fox’s envelope “prop” that implied a Muhammad cartoon but revealed a caricature of an opposing MP, triggering laughter and procedural objections.
The conversation then shifts to the Democratic Socialists of America meeting in Chicago, its platform proposals, and Taunton’s claim that Muslims advance influence in the West via socialism as a “Trojan horse,” alongside criticism of socialist economics and “democratic socialism.” -

Why the Bible Is the “Prequel” to Western Civilization | Texas Schools & the K–12 Curriculum
Episode 213
Show notes
Should the Bible be taught in public schools?
In this episode of Ideas Have Consequences, Larry Alex Taunton examines the Texas State Board of Education's decision to include the Bible in the K–12 curriculum—and argues that the debate is about far more than religion.
Larry contends that the Bible is the "prequel" to Western civilization. Without understanding it, he argues, students cannot fully grasp Western literature, history, philosophy, law, or even many of the moral assumptions that shape modern society.
Drawing on historical scholarship, literary examples, and the ongoing Texas curriculum debate, Larry explores why biblical literacy has long been considered foundational to a classical education—even by many who do not identify as Christians.
