Imagination Draw Along: a low stimulation drawing show for kids
Imagination Draw Along is an intentionally calm and low stimulation show for kids who want to draw. I'll guide young artists through drawing prompts, telling stories and sharing history about the topics we draw. Kids are encouraged to use their imaginations and make decisions as they draw. One of the goals is to build self-confidence because we know there's no wrong way to do art!
Hi, I’m your host, Aunt Dewey. I’m a former New York City kindergarten teacher. Now I work in tech teaching adults how to use various software, platforms, and programs. I started Imagination Draw Along because I think a low-stim, screen-free experience is good for kids and aspiring artists. We move slowly on purpose. I encourage listeners to make their own artistic choices as they follow along. It’s a light hearted show that helps build critical thinking skills by guiding the imagination through wonder.
Episodes are 10-15 minutes long.
New episodes will be available every Wednesday.

Let's draw a ghost eating his favorite breakfast: "boo-berry" pancakes
Season 1, Episode 77
Show notes
Today I want to draw a joke I heard. Ready?
What's a ghost's favorite breakfast?
BoOoOoOoberry pancakes!
We'll draw a ghost with his ghost friend, sitting at a table, eating a giant and very tall stack of "boo-berry" pancakes with maple syrup. We'll add some silly toppings too, like ice cream. We'll talk about how our ghost is haunting her chair but has trouble sitting in it.
Here are 3 ideas your imagination can wonder about based on our drawing today:
• Why do the ghosts like boo-berry pancakes?
• If you have trouble being still when you’re supposed to, how can you help yourself?
• If you had breakfast with a ghost, what would you want to talk about? If you liked this episode, you might like drawing a giant ice cream sundae.
If this one was too spooky, maybe try out a mama duckling floating with her ducks or two crabby crabs walking on the beach.
Imagination Draw Along is an intentionally low stimulation show that gives artists space to develop confidence in decision making-- because there’s no wrong way to do art! This is a place for imagination to grow and play.

Let's draw a haunted house for Halloween (bonus episode!)
Season 1, Episode 76
Show notes
Today I want to draw a haunted house for Halloween! We'll draw a house but make it spooky with a boarded up door, a black cat out front, a ghost in the sky and a vampire in the window. We leave it up to your imagination how spooky your house is.
Note: I recorded this on the go and the beginning of the audio is a bit off but it gets better after the first minute--sorry friends!
Here are 3 ideas your imagination can wonder about based on our drawing today:
• We draw a boarded up door. How will the cat and the ghost get into the house?
• How does a house go from being regular to haunted?
• If you feel scared, what can you do to remember that you are brave? If you liked today's episode, you might enjoy drawing a castle or a ghost's favorite breakfast.
If spooky is not your style, try an autumn nature sceneor a ants carrying snacks away from a picnic.

Let's draw a scarecrow protecting the crops
Season 1, Episode 73
Show notes
Today I want to draw a scarecrow, standing in the field, protecting the crops. We'll make a flour sack head, a straw hat, and some straw hair. We'll make sure his flannel shirt and blue jeans are stuff with straw. We'll also talk about the difference between straw and hay.
And I tell a very funny joke in this one, which you can steal here:
Q) Why did the scarecrow win a prize?
A) He was out standing in his field. (hahaha!)
If you liked this episode and want to draw more hay, check out a horse munching some hay with his barnyard friends, or try pigs rolling in the mud.

Let's DRAW what you might have looked like in the 1980s [bonus episode]
Season 1, Episode 69
Show notes
Today I want to draw a self portrait of what you might have looked like in the 1980s. In this silly, time traveling episode, we'll draw pictures of ourselves with some big hair, shoulder pads, and the artists choice between high waist bluejeans or parachute pants. I'll tell you about what the 80's were like, even though my personal 80s experience was spend being a baby.
I wanted to do this bonus episode to meet a recent online trend with creativity instead of instant gratification. While I would never bore a young artist with my thoughts generative AI safety on this show, I did share some thoughts on the website for the adults.
Here are 3 ideas your imagination can wonder about based on our drawing today:
• How are the 80s different than today and how are they the same?
• Why do grown ups like to tell stories about the past?
• The 80s were about 40 years in the past. What do you think the world will be like 40 years in the future? If this episode was not your style (what, you don't like parachute pants?) try out the ever-popular giant ice cream sundae. Or, try ants carrying snacks away from a picnic.
If you did like this, try the first ever episode: the self portrait (heads up for artists who love routine, the music is different on this one!) or if you like more big hair and 80's style, we also have a Dolly Parton episode.

Show notes
Today I want to draw a mama duck floating on the water with 2 baby ducklings. One duckling will be following in line, and one duckling will be being silly with their face down in the water and tail feathers in the air. We'll talk about drawing things that are the same shape but different size, and the same shape and size but from a different point of view.
Here are 3 ideas your imagination can wonder about based on our drawing today:
• Why is it sometimes more tricky to draw from a different point of view?
• If you were a ducking, would you like swimming in the line? Or dunking your head in the water and sticking your tail feathers out?
• What makes ripples happen in the water? If you liked this episode and want to draw more "similar but different," try drawing 3 sharks.
If this episode was not your style, maybe you'd like to draw a giant ice cream sundae, instead.

Show notes
Today I want to draw a big giant crazy ice cream sundae. We'll start with a fancy dish, then add classic toppings like a banana. chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and of course, your artist choice of any toppings you can think of. Drawing sprinkles reminded me of the famous pointillism artwork of Georges Seurat, so I talked a bit about his work and his artist choice to use dots. I'll show you a picture of his most famous painting on my blog.
Here are 3 ideas your imagination can wonder about based on our drawing today:
• Ice cream is sooo good. Why can’t we eat it for breakfast and lunch and dinner?
