Kermitment - A Muppets Podcast

On April 21, 1990, The War On Drugs ended in total victory thanks to the bravery and sacrifice of America's foremost cartoon characters, George C. Scott, and the fine people at the McDonald's Corporation. Today, Matt and Sam salute these brave heroes in a very special episode of Kermitment.

Birthdays! We have birthdays! We have lots and lots of birthdays! Birthdaaaayyyyysss!

Remember that song from Letterman? I do, because I am old. 39 years old, in fact, far older than I ever thought I could possibly be. And now I'm making a Muppet podcast with some other old guy! And sometimes it's not about Muppets, it's about other things. This is one of those times :)

Probably one of our most self aware episodes ever as we confront with the fact we've talked about Muppet Babies about 100x longer than The Muppet Show and we grapple with our own rapidly aging bodies. Sometimes you're talking about German Kermit the Frog for an hour and you think "what am I doing with my life." Fun episode though!

I really don't think there's any chance anyone has talked on record about Little Mermaid's Island for as long as we have in this episode, outside of people directly involved in making it. We are the Little Mermaid's Island podcast now. Check out http://kermitmentstuff.com/ to get your Kermitment merch!

Sam had an extremely strict hard-out for this one, which means that it's a normal length for a podcast and also probably still longer than the movie we watched, which was The Witches. Just in time for Halloween(?)! Check out http://kermitmentstuff.com/ to get your Kermitment merch!

The 90s are hitting us like a truck as we watch stuff featuring Ernest P. Worrell, Will Smith, and, unfortunately, Bill Cosby. Plus the Jim Henson Hour Muppets are back, C3PO and R2D2 drop in, Tony Danza, the cast of Cheers... I think the 90s might have been most defind by guest appearances? It's synergy, baby! Here's what we watched! Check out http://kermitmentstuff.com/ to get your Kermitment merch!

It's one of our World Famous catch up episodes, in which we make absolutley no forward progress in our Kermitment and prolong our obligation past the span of the normal human life! But hey, we got to see Rowlf and Jimmy again!

Here's what we watched this week!

We finally made it to the 90s!!!!!!!! For one episode. Then next time we're going to watch a bunch of stuff from THE 60s. That's right folks, we're starting over! I'm just kidding of course, we're just going to be catching up on stuff we missed, but we will do this until we die. Anyway this week we're watching Muppet Babies again and a bunch of Disney Christmas programming so 'ho ho ho' and whatnot. See ya later.

With the Ghost of Faffner Hall dead in the ground, we trudge battle-weary back to the playroom to do battle with the devious little imps known as the Muppet Babies. Why did we do this to ourselves? No sane man could tell you.

We took a month off to train and get strong so we put a stake in the heart of the Ghost of Faffner Hall, finishing it off once and for all and ending its grip of terror on the countryside. But at what terrible cost? And will our lives still hold meaning now that our terrible task is done?

Ready for a 2 hour podcast about Sesame Street where the hosts swear? Who wouldn't be?! We're back in the Big Apple baby, hanging out with our, at this point, favorite set of Muppets. How could they not be when their main competition right now is the Faffner Hall Muppets? Those ones look like they get oily t-zones!

We've escaped Faffner Hall for the week, but now we're just back in the nursery... at least this week we watch what may be the only actually good episode of Muppet Babies! is it actually good, or have we just completely lost our minds?? The Ghost of Faffner Hall is my own personal hell. I have to watch it once, talk about it once, and then listen to us talk about it again while I edit. I've spent more hours thinking and creating content about The Ghost of Faffner Hall than anyone on the planet aside from the people who made the show.

For lots of pics, gifs, and link about the B.B. Beegle show, check out the episode page over on the Muppeturgy website! It's the Muppet podcast crossover of all time! The Kermitment boys and the Muppeturgy crew join forces to take on a great evil: a weridly horny Muppet Show rip-off created by Hanna-Barbera in the late 70s that just looks like it smells bad. Lecherous dogs and cosmic horrors abound, but don't worry: all your Muppet podcasting friends are here to guide you through it safely. Just don't say the watch word!

A big thank you to Muppeturgy for being great collaborators and for editing this episode! You can listen to more of them here!

The Muppet Babies have been babies for 6 years, which is chilling to think about. Even more chilling is that we must bear witness to their horrible antics. That's right it's season 6 of Muppet Babies and we must be having fun cause this is one of our longest episodes ever!

And so we leave behind The Jim Henson Hour, a deeply personal project of Jim's and the culmination of a life's work (for better and worse), and turn now to The Ghost of Faffner Hall, a strange grotesquerie with dubious scholarly merit that Jim glanced at once maybe. And we're making Tough Pig's Anthony Strand come along with us! Strap in everyone, it's a long stretch of this and Muppet Babies for like half of this year!
