KICKSVILLE KRAMPS: THE EARLY DAYS / THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT... asking the pertinent question "which twin has the Toni?" WPKN's Kicksville show on Wednesday Oct 28, in advance of my tawdry pulp memoir subtitled My Dark Ages 1973-1978, will share chats with very special guests about the formation of the group and the early days, plus early recordings-- celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first show on Nov 1, 1976. Honoring Lux and Bryan with their respective siblings Michael and Pam and taking the wobbly lid off what-when-who-where! Art boss Bill Arning checks in with a brain spraining story of teen life that was sparked by his local record store clerk Bryan Gregory , documenting the Cramps during the original lineup, and lugging 45 pounds if equipment around to get it on tape! Top kat Henry Rollins checks in to gab about being an fan, an archivist, and a historian, and about working with Larry and Jimmy at Vengeance/In The Red in getting out every shred of goo goo muck and bubbling crude that exists on the band. We are also going to reveal the greatest unsung hero of Kicksville with an in person interview, proving once again that Lake Erie is the cause of all the kommotion we have been exacerabatin' about - can you stand the suspense? We'll share in a new post as we push into next Wednesday! Jamey Brains ballyhoo's about her upcoming Ronnie Dawson fest and we've got a Mr Death trib too. Lotta treats for you Kicksville tricksters! Please share - this episode will teach ya sumpin!

Kicksville kids! The new episode of Kicksville will air Wednesday Aug 5 on WPKN 89.5 FM Bridgeport, with special guest Peter Zaremba of the Fleshtones, including a world debut of their brand new single, in advance of their 50th anniversary show at the Bowery Ballroom on Friday- getcha tix quick! We were all heart busted by the passing of Jeff Conolly, AKA Monoman, top purveyor of 70's pound sound abundance via Boston's great DMZ and Lyres and also of his lesser-lauded 60s heros - his good taste and impossible talent infected us all. The Fleshtones and DMZ began around the same time and the two groups crisscrossed turfs between Boston and New York throughout the years. Peter and I prerecorded this show on July 31, as his schedule is hectic in preparing for the Bowery Ballroom spectacular. Little did we know at the time that we would lose Jeff within hours of wrapping the program. Jeff will be forever missed. Apart of the over the top chat with PZ, we are spinning a select stash of Fleshtones savory Top 20 tunes, focusing on the early years, and we are closing out Kicksville with the Toppermost of the Poppermost from Monoman - we are working on a visit with his fellow band members, focused on Monoman memories and musical faves. Thanks, everyone! See you Wednesday at Kicksville- on site worldwide at 9 AM Eastern at https://wpkn.org/listen-live/ and on the instant-access global app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wpkn/id6741170209

Kicksville Tues Jan 20 9AM Eastern at http://www.wpkn.org/ , that's 89.5 FM on your radio dial if you're lurking around a 10,000 watt radius of beautiful downtown Bridgeport Ct! Or get the app already - free push-button regal radio worldwide when you want it/need it/gotta have it! Kicksville alternates with Crashing The Party at WPKN every Tuesday at 9AM - we're checking out the platters that landed on Hipsville, a trio of fan LP's that hit the peanut buttery collections of no-count wombats in 1983! We'r gonna be slippin anna slidin with some snoops and scoops at all the early comps that began quite nobly with the wish to share and blare stellar garbage-finds! Not in the realm of wondrous greatest hits albums, or the fabulous DJ-compiled albums that predated Nuggets, but the chillens that really were inspired by Lenny and soon afterward genius friend Greg Shaw. We'll see who will chat under a veil of secrecy and who will come out of their caves to rave. We'll be flipping tales and sides with 60's enthusiasts on all sides or all ponds- kids - not korporations - who have been the driving force in rock n roll preservation as writers, hunter-gatherers, fantastic deejays, historians - in other words, the GANG! Join us Tuesday for Hipsville blast- these LPs were never issues on CD and have been outta print ... since the last century!!!! xxxx
