What does adventuring with cats look like when every cat has a different personality and a different journey? 🐈🏕️

In this episode, I’m chatting with Teri, a member of my Trailblazers community, about her experiences exploring the world with three very different cats: Coco, Brighton, and Mazama (aka Mazzie).

Teri’s journey began with Coco, a show cat who traveled to cat shows in style before eventually becoming a hiking and camping companion alongside Brighton. Now, Teri is building a new chapter of outdoor adventures with Mazzie!

We talk about how her cats got started exploring outdoors, what she’s learned from adventuring with different cats, favorite memories from their time together, and how she’s helping Mazzie discover the world outside.

Teri’s story is a wonderful reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to cat adventures. Whether your cat loves hiking and camping, is just beginning harness training, or enjoys exploring new things closer to home, there are so many ways to build a richer life together. 🧡

What does it really look like to explore the outdoors with your cat?

In this episode of the KittyCatGO Adventure Podcast, I’m joined by Calli, a member of my Trailblazers community, to talk about her experiences exploring and adventuring with Figgy.

We chat about how they got started going outside together, the challenges they faced along the way, Figgy’s favorite outdoor activities, and some of their most memorable experiences.

But outdoor adventures aren’t the only thing we talk about! Calli also shares some of Figgy’s favorite indoor enrichment activities, games, and training exercises.

I wanted to start bringing more real cat parents onto the podcast because there’s so much value in hearing what this actually looks like in everyday life. Every cat is different, every cat parent is different, and there’s no single right way to enrich your cat’s life.

Your cat doesn’t have to hike mountains or travel to faraway places for you to create meaningful experiences together. Your journey can look completely different from someone else’s — and that’s something worth celebrating.

I hope Figgy and Calli’s story gives you some inspiration for your own cat. 🧡

In this episode, I’m joined by Albert Colominas, owner of Outdoor Bengal, and his adventure cat Mia. Mia has traveled extensively with Albert by both car and airplane, so we’re diving into the practical side of traveling with cats — from preparing your cat for a road trip, to handling bathroom breaks and portable litter boxes, to setting up a litter box when you arrive somewhere new.

Why would you want to harness train your cat in the first place? And what if your cat freezes, flops, gets scared, or just doesn't seem interested? 🐈🧡

In this episode, I'm sharing a recording of a recent YouTube Live all about cat harness training. I talk about why I think harness training can be such a valuable form of enrichment, how different cats may respond to it, what to do when you hit training roadblocks, and how to tell whether your cat is actually ready to move forward.

I also answer questions from viewers throughout the conversation, so this episode has a little more of a relaxed Q&A feel than my usual solo episodes.

  5. 5:12 - Cat Backpack vs. Stroller: Which Is Best for Your Cat?

    Season 5, Episode 12

    Show notes

Should you get a cat backpack or a cat stroller for outdoor adventures? I've used both for years, and in this episode, I'm breaking down the pros and cons of each so you can decide which one makes the most sense for you and your cat. 🐈‍⬛🎒

I'll talk about when I prefer a backpack, when a stroller makes more sense, the types of environments each works best in, and why I recommend always having a way to safely transport your cat when you're adventuring away from home.

I'll also share how I use backpacks and strollers when introducing my cats to new places, plus an important reminder: whichever option you choose, your cat will likely need some time and training to become comfortable using it.

Because there's no single piece of gear that's right for every cat or every adventure. The best choice depends on where you're going, how you're getting there, and what works for your individual cat. 🧡

What happens when you and your cat face a challenge that feels like it may never get better?

In this community-contributed episode of the KittyCatGO Adventure Podcast, I'm handing the microphone over to members of my Trailblazers community to share stories about challenges they and their cats once thought they'd never overcome.

You'll hear four different stories about setbacks, breakthroughs, patience, and progress. From learning new skills to overcoming fears and navigating challenges that took months or even years, these stories are a reminder that progress doesn't always happen quickly—and that sometimes the little victories are the ones that matter most. 🐾

My hope is that these stories encourage you if you're currently struggling with something that feels impossible with your own cat. Your journey may look completely different from someone else's, but that doesn't mean you're not making progress.

And maybe someday, the thing you're struggling with today will become the story you tell about the challenge you never thought you'd overcome. 🧡

  9. 5:9 - Can You Adventure With Multiple Cats at the Same Time?

    Season 5, Episode 9

    Show notes

If you share your home with more than one cat, you've probably wondered at some point: Can I just take them all out together?

It sounds efficient in theory—one outing, multiple cats, everyone gets their adventure time. But in practice, taking more than one cat outside at a time can be a lot more complicated than many people realize.

In this episode, I share my thoughts on adventuring with multiple cats, including:

    • The biggest safety concerns to consider
    • Why cats are very different from dogs when it comes to group outings
    • What can happen when unexpected situations arise
    • Whether taking turns is actually the better option
    • Why having one human per cat is ideal
    • How strollers and backpacks can help if you're flying solo

If you've been wondering how to manage outdoor adventures with a multi-cat household, this episode will help you think through the pros, cons, and practical realities before you head out the door.

In this episode, I sit down with Jess from Caticles, a clinical pet nutritionist, to talk all about raw feeding — a topic that can feel overwhelming, controversial, and confusing.

We break down the myths, the risks, and the real benefits, and talk about how nutrition plays a much bigger role in your cat’s life than most people realize.

  11. 5:7 - How to Stop Your Cat From Door Dashing

    Season 5, Episode 7

    Show notes

Have you ever opened the front door only to have your cat make a run for it?

Door dashing is one of the most common concerns among cat parents, especially those interested in harness and leash training. In fact, many people avoid taking their cats outside altogether because they're afraid it will encourage escape attempts.

In this episode, I share my thoughts on door dashing, why I don't follow the common advice to always carry cats through doorways, and what I believe actually causes this behavior.

    You'll learn:

    • Why cats become fixated on doors
    • Whether harness and leash training can create door dashers
    • How mat training can help prevent escape attempts
    • Why routines and predictability matter
    • The role enrichment plays in reducing unwanted behaviors
    • And how my youngest cat, Nimbus, recently taught me an important lesson about behavior and communication

If you're struggling with a cat who bolts for the door—or you're worried about creating a door dasher by taking your cat outside—this episode will give you a different perspective and practical strategies you can start using right away.

  12. 5:6 - What Happens to My Cat If I Die? How to Legally Plan for Your Pet’s Future

    Season 5, Episode 6

    Show notes

What would happen to your cat if something unexpected happened to you?

It’s not something most of us like to think about — but without a plan in place, your cat’s future could be left uncertain.

In this episode, I’m joined by Sean Valle, lawyer and founder of Cotl, to talk about how pet parents can legally plan for their cats’ care. We discuss the difference between mentioning your cat in a will, setting up a pet trust, and using a structured pet care plan — and what can go wrong when people assume “someone will just take them.”

    We also cover:

    • Common misconceptions about what will happen to your pet
    • Why verbal promises aren’t enough
    • How specific you can get about your cat’s diet, routine, and lifestyle
    • When you should start planning
    • Whether this type of planning is expensive
    • The first step to take if you haven’t done anything yet

If your cat is family, this conversation is an important one.

  13. 5:5 - Pet-Friendly Doesn’t Mean Cat-Friendly: What Every Cat Owner Needs to Know

    Season 5, Episode 5

    Show notes

Have you ever taken your cat somewhere labeled “pet-friendly”… only to realize it wasn’t cat-friendly at all?

In this episode, I’m breaking down a common issue in the cat adventure world — the difference between pet-friendly and cat-friendly, and why that distinction matters more than you might think.

I share a recent experience I had booking an Airbnb with my cat, Kylo Ren, and how one simple decision to double-check completely changed the outcome. It could have easily gone the other way.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why many “pet-friendly” places are really just dog-friendly
    • The risks of making assumptions when traveling or adventuring with your cat
    • How to properly vet locations before you go
    • Why environment matters just as much as permission
    • And how our choices as cat owners shape how the world sees cats in public spaces

This episode isn’t just about avoiding bad experiences — it’s about being intentional, advocating for your cat, and helping create more opportunities for cats in the future.

In this episode, I’m joined by Sally Williams, founder and president of Mission Meow, an organization dedicated to supporting small feline-focused nonprofits that are doing incredible work for cats with very limited resources.

We talk about the realities of cat rescue, the challenges many grassroots organizations face, and how Mission Meow helps fund important projects that allow rescues to expand their lifesaving work.

    • The kinds of projects Mission Meow grants help support
    • Ways individuals can help cats and rescues in their community

  15. 5:3 - These 3 Cats Prove Why Enrichment Matters More Than You Think

    Season 5, Episode 3

    Show notes

I asked members of my Trailblazers community a simple question: why do you take your cat on adventures or provide enrichment — and what difference has it made?

The stories I received were powerful.

In this episode, you’ll hear about three very different cats with very different personalities and comfort levels. Some go outside. Some don’t. But all of them benefited from enrichment, engagement, and doing things with their humans.

These real-life stories show how enrichment builds trust, confidence, routine, and a deeper bond between cats and their people.

It’s a reminder that enrichment isn’t about doing big, impressive things. It’s about understanding who your cat is and helping them thrive. 🐱🧡

We dive into cats’ natural feeding behaviors, the pros and cons of free feeding, common behavior issues linked to improper feeding routines, and how feeding schedules affect food motivation for training. We also share practical tips for transitioning to more frequent meals, feeding cats when you’re not home during the day, and managing feeding routines in multi-cat households.

  17. 5:1 - I Used to Underestimate My Cats: Here’s What They Taught Me About Enrichment, Training, and Adventure

    Season 5, Episode 1

    Show notes

For years, I thought I was a “good cat mom.”

I fed my cats, loved them, played with them, and kept them safe. But I had no idea how much I was underestimating them — and how much more they actually needed to truly thrive.

In this episode, I’m sharing the full story of how one wobbly cat named Sophie changed everything for me, how I accidentally did harness training completely wrong at first, and how each of my cats — from fearful rescues to confident adventurers — taught me what cats really need.

This isn’t just about outdoor adventures. It’s about enrichment, engagement, and the relationship you build when you start doing things with your cat instead of just living alongside them.

You’ll hear how my cats shaped KittyCatGO, why enrichment matters just as much indoors as it does outside, and why it’s never too late to start doing more with your cat. 🐾✨
