Welcome back to CWEB. Today we turn our attention to a story that has ignited the internet, sparked a fierce debate about modern beauty standards, and forced us to ask a very uncomfortable question: what does it actually mean to be a model in 2026?

It is the story of Kylie Jenner, the billionaire reality star and cosmetics mogul, and Megyn Kelly, the outspoken broadcaster who has never been afraid to spark a controversy. At the center of their clash is a piece of jewelry worth fifty million dollars, a historic runway show, and a single, cutting phrase: “None of that is real.”

Let us begin with the spectacle.

On October 18, at Sony Studios in Culver City, Victoria’s Secret staged its highly anticipated Fashion Show. The event was meant to signal a new era for the brand, a departure from the traditional "Angels" of the past and a pivot toward a more modern, inclusive, and culturally relevant image. But the moment that truly stopped the show was the finale.

Kylie Jenner walked the runway wearing the iconic Fantasy Bra. Valued at fifty million dollars, the piece features more than 4,410 natural diamonds set in a custom design, accompanied by elaborate, sweeping angel wings. It was a historic moment: Jenner became the first non-Angel to ever wear the Fantasy Bra.

Victoria’s Secret defended the decision enthusiastically. The brand’s chief creative officer, Adam Selman, explained that Jenner was chosen because her influence "extends beyond fashion, beyond culture, beyond TV."

    But not everyone was impressed.

    Enter Megyn Kelly.

On her popular podcast, Kelly delivered a brutal critique of the runway moment, and she did not hold back.

But Kelly did not stop at the clothes or the physical appearance. She waded into personal territory, questioning Jenner's relationship with actor Timothée Chalamet, and suggesting that the entire spectacle was less about fashion and more about the relentless mechanics of the family's fame machine.

The Fantasy Bra used to be the ultimate crown for the world’s most elite supermodels—women like Tyra Banks, Gisele Bündchen, and Heidi Klum, who dominated the industry through legendary runway walks and magazine covers. To place that bra on an influencer, they argued, was to reduce a high-fashion institution to a celebrity circus.

On the other side, the backlash against Kelly was fierce. Critics pointed out that Victoria’s Secret has spent years trying to shed its outdated image of impossible body standards and exclusivity. Jenner’s appearance drew immense global attention, generated millions of dollars in earned media, and represented a shift toward a more modern, inclusive definition of beauty. They argued that Kelly’s critique was unnecessarily cruel and rooted in an outdated, gatekeeping mentality.

So, what do we make of all this?

This is not just a story about a rich woman wearing an expensive piece of jewelry.

Kelly’s critique also raises a fascinating question about what we want from public figures. Do we want them to be aspirational and unattainable, like the supermodels of the past? Or do we want them to be relatable, even if that relatability is achieved through surgeries, filters, and strategic marketing?

On this day, the runway lights have dimmed, but the conversation is still raging. It is a clash between the old guard and the new reality. And whether you side with Megyn Kelly's plea for authenticity, or Kylie Jenner's ascent as the ultimate modern influencer, one thing is certain: the concept of beauty, and who gets to define it, will never stop evolving.
