    Season 6, Episode 3

    Show notes

Week 2 of Light the Lamp is here! After a wild opening weekend of college hockey, we’re breaking down the biggest storylines, early-season surprises, and what we’re watching heading into another loaded weekend.

Is Quinnipiac for real after an explosive start to the season? How concerned should Minnesota fans be after a tough series against Michigan Tech? We also discuss Colorado College’s big sweep of UMass, Maryville’s historic start, early fantasy hockey takeaways, and some of the new NCAA rule changes that could shake things up this season.

Plus, we’re looking ahead and making our picks for some of the biggest matchups of Week 3. Can we get an early edge in the standings, or will our picks leave us out in the cold? We’ll also have Grok making its predictions as we see if we can beat the AI over the course of the season. Copilot beat us last year, so there’s a little redemption on the line!

    This week’s picks:
🏒 Wisconsin at Minnesota State (Mankato)
    🏒 Quinnipiac at Maine
🏒 Michigan Tech at St. Cloud State
    🏒 Minnesota Duluth at Augustana
🏒 North Dakota vs. Bemidji State
    🏆 Ice Breaker Tournament Champion

It’s still early, but the takes are coming, the predictions are rolling in, and the race to prove who knows college hockey best is officially underway.

We’re also looking at UMass at Colorado College, Miami at Northern Michigan, and Minnesota at Michigan Tech as we make our picks for opening weekend.

But there’s another challenger joining us this season… 🤖

Grok is making picks too. Last season, Copilot beat us in the season-long picks race, so now we’ve got a new AI opponent to deal with. Can we finally take down the machines, or is AI about to own college hockey picks?

We’ll keep track of the picks all season long to see who comes out on top.

🎙️ The first picks of the year are in. Let the 2026-27 college hockey season begin!
