  1. Bulls Eyeing Anthony Black & Dereck Lively?! Caleb Wilson Wants To LEAD Chicago

    Episode 2441

    Show notes

Could Anthony Black or Dereck Lively II become Bryson Graham’s next major addition to the Chicago Bulls rebuild? 👀🐂

On today’s **Locked On Bulls**, Haize and Pat The Designer break down potential 2027 restricted free-agent targets **Anthony Black, Dereck Lively II and Jaime Jaquez Jr.** and debate which young player would fit best alongside Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson and the rest of Chicago’s core.

The guys also react to **Caleb Wilson’s latest comments about becoming a better passer and leader**. Wilson understands defenses are already adjusting to him, and his decision-making has improved dramatically since his nine-turnover NBA debut. Could Caleb eventually become more than a scorer and develop into the Bulls’ primary offensive creator?

And what would that mean for **Josh Giddey’s long-term role** if Wilson eventually becomes a 20-plus-point scorer capable of generating five or six assists per game?

Plus, Chicago prepares for a major test against a **Philadelphia 76ers team that has started 6-1**, including a win without LeBron James or Joel Embiid. Tyrese Maxey erupted for 38 points and has scored at least 26 in every game so far, highlighting the type of elite perimeter creator Chicago has struggled to contain.

**Topics include:** Anthony Black and Dereck Lively as future Bulls targets, Caleb Wilson’s evolution as a playmaker, Josh Giddey’s long-term fit, Tyrese Maxey’s hot start, and whether Chicago still needs an elite scoring guard to complete the rebuild.

🎙️ **Tune in as Haize and Pat debate Bryson Graham’s next roster-building move, Caleb Wilson’s rapidly expanding ceiling, and what the Sixers matchup can teach us about how far the Bulls still have to go.**

  2. BULLS POSTCAST: Caleb Wilson sets CAREER HIGH in 3's, Chicago Bulls lose to the Celtics 125-111

    Episode 2439

    Show notes

Caleb Wilson set a career high in 3s for in his rookie season for the Chicago Bulls, but some sloppy play in the 1st quarter let the game slip away early and lead to an easy Boston Celtics team. Tiago Splitters team did play much better in the 2nd half but it was tough in the 1st half.

  3. Bulls-OKC Trade Opportunity?! Okoro Could Be On The Move + Jalen Smith Injury Trouble

    Episode 2438

    Show notes

**Could injuries to the Oklahoma City Thunder create a major trade opportunity for the Chicago Bulls? 👀🐂**

On today’s **Locked On Bulls**, Haize and Pat The Designer discuss whether **Isaac Okoro** could suddenly become more valuable to a contender than he is to Chicago. Oklahoma City has lost Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace to major injuries, and outside analysis has identified the Bulls as a possible trade partner because of players like Okoro and Norman Powell.

The guys debate what Bryson Graham should demand if OKC came calling. Would a protected first-round pick and young player be enough? Or should Chicago hold onto one of its best perimeter defenders while the defense is already struggling?

Then the conversation turns to **Jalen Smith**, who is questionable with a left finger sprain while **Nic Claxton remains out** and Tobe Awaka is also dealing with an ankle injury. Smith has quietly been one of Chicago’s most productive players, averaging **13.4 points and 8.2 rebounds** through five games.

Has Smith played well enough to keep a major role even after Claxton returns? And should the Bulls consider using their open roster spot on another healthy big?

Plus, Chicago gets an immediate **NBA Cup revenge game against Boston**, just four days after the Celtics embarrassed the Bulls 134-99.

Can Tiago Splitter make meaningful adjustments? Can Caleb Wilson handle Boston’s defensive pressure? And does Chicago’s league-leading pace need to slow down if it continues contributing to one of the NBA’s worst defenses?

**Topics include:** Isaac Okoro trade possibilities, OKC’s injury crisis, Jalen Smith’s injury and starting role, Chicago’s center depth, Nic Claxton’s absence, Bulls-Celtics NBA Cup revenge game, Tiago Splitter’s adjustments, and Caleb Wilson’s next major test.

🎙️ **Tune in as Haize and Pat break down whether the Bulls should capitalize on Oklahoma City’s desperation, how Chicago handles its growing frontcourt concerns, and whether the Bulls can respond against Boston in the NBA Cup.**

  4. Bulls BLOW 19-Point Lead! 😳 Caleb & Matas CLICK + Norman Powell Drops 30!

    Episode 2437

    Show notes

**The Chicago Bulls finally found their offense — and somehow still walked away with a loss. 😳🐂**

On today’s **Locked On Bulls**, Haize and Pat break down Chicago blowing a **19-point lead** against the Knicks despite scoring 127 points, hitting 18 threes and recording 32 assists. Is shooting still the Bulls’ biggest problem, or have defense, rebounding and late-game execution become the real concerns?

The guys also discuss the best performance yet from the **Caleb Wilson–Matas Buzelis pairing**. The young forwards combined for **37 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists**, while each knocked down three three-pointers. Are Bulls fans finally seeing what Chicago’s future could look like with Caleb and Matas growing together?

Plus, **Norman Powell dropped 30 points on just 15 shots**, raising a huge question for Tiago Splitter: when the game gets tight, who should actually close — Powell, Caleb, Matas or Josh Giddey?

**Topics include:** Bulls blowing a 19-point lead, Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis’ chemistry, Chicago’s defensive problems, Norman Powell’s 30-point night, late-game execution, and who should become the Bulls’ closer.

🎙️ **Tune in as Haize and Pat debate whether the Bulls are closer to being good than their record suggests — or if Chicago still lacks the pieces needed to finish games.**

  6. Bulls COLLAPSE Again! Is Tiago Getting Outcoached + Did Chicago’s “Depth” Get EXPOSED? 👀

    Episode 2435

    Show notes

**The Chicago Bulls have now suffered back-to-back third-quarter collapses, and the conversation is shifting from young-team growing pains to whether Tiago Splitter is getting out-adjusted after halftime. 👀🐂**

On today’s episode of **Locked On Bulls**, Haize and Pat The Designer break down Chicago’s latest ugly loss to Boston and a troubling trend that has developed over the past two games.

The Bulls were competitive for stretches against the Celtics, cutting a 16-point deficit down to four and staying within seven early in the third quarter.

    Then everything fell apart.

Boston outscored Chicago **39-21 in the third quarter**, just two games after Washington won the third **40-20**. That means the Bulls have been outscored **79-41 across their last two third quarters — a 38-point difference**.

So Haize and Pat ask the uncomfortable question:

**Is Tiago Splitter already losing the halftime-adjustment battle?**

Chicago wants to play fast, pressure defensively and attack before defenses get organized. But when turnovers start piling up, that same pace can turn a manageable deficit into a blowout almost instantly.

Against Boston, the Bulls committed **nine turnovers in the third quarter alone**, leading to 17 Celtics points. Even worse, Boston made its biggest run while Jayson Tatum was on the bench.

At what point does responsibility shift from a young roster learning how to win to a coaching staff that has to stop momentum, change coverages and make better in-game adjustments?

The guys also revisit one of the Bulls’ biggest preseason talking points: **depth**.

Chicago’s bench looked like a potential strength after scoring 59 points against Milwaukee.

    Then Boston’s reserves absolutely dominated.

The Celtics bench outscored Chicago **79-33**, while Boston also won the rebounding battle 54-40 and grabbed 19 offensive rebounds.

Does Chicago actually have one of the deeper rosters in the East? Or does it simply have a lot of intriguing players who have not yet proven they can consistently impact winning?

**Leonard Miller, Tre Jones, Buddy Hield and Isaac Okoro** all bring useful individual skills, but who becomes the dependable scorer when the starters sit? Should Splitter start staggering his best players more aggressively? And does Bryson Graham eventually need to turn several rotation pieces into one more reliable NBA starter?

Plus, the Bulls now get an unexpected opportunity against the **defending NBA champion New York Knicks**, who have opened the season 0-3.

New York became the first defending champion since the 2011-12 Mavericks to lose its first three games, and its latest defeat included blowing a double-digit fourth-quarter lead to Orlando.

Could Chicago make the Knicks’ nightmare start even worse?

The Bulls are rebuilding and playing with far less pressure. New York is defending a championship and facing growing scrutiny with every loss.

If Chicago can use its athleticism, pace and rim pressure to attack a struggling Knicks team, could a win over the defending champs restore some confidence after blowout losses to Toronto and Boston?

The Bulls are young. Growing pains were always coming.

But there is a difference between losing competitive games and repeatedly watching games become blowouts in a matter of minutes.

  7. Tiago WON’T Stop Shooting Threes?! Tough Love For Matas + Is Dailyn Swain Not NBA Ready?

    Episode 2434

    Show notes

**The Chicago Bulls cannot buy a three-pointer right now, but Tiago Splitter is not backing away from his offensive philosophy. 👀🐂**

On today’s episode of **Locked On Bulls**, Haize and Pat The Designer break down one of the biggest early-season debates surrounding Chicago: should the Bulls keep firing from three even when the shots are not falling?

Through three games, Chicago has shot **4-for-36 against Toronto, 12-for-45 against Milwaukee and 12-for-43 against Washington** from beyond the arc. Despite those struggles, Splitter continues encouraging his players to take open threes and develop the shooting necessary to punish defenses that are packing the paint.

That raises a bigger philosophical question.

**Is Tiago coaching the Bulls for October 2026, or for the team he wants them to become in 2028?**

Haize and Pat debate whether Chicago should tailor the offense to the strengths of the current roster or continue forcing young players like **Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis** to develop the skills they will need if the Bulls eventually want to contend.

Caleb’s huge game against Washington perfectly illustrates the issue. He finished with **30 points and 14 rebounds**, but still shot just **1-for-9 from three**. His athleticism and interior scoring already translate. If the jumper eventually becomes consistent, his ceiling changes dramatically.

The guys also dive into **Tiago Splitter’s tough-love approach with Matas Buzelis**.

After struggling through Chicago’s first two games, Matas was benched for the fourth quarter against Milwaukee. Instead of reacting negatively, he accepted the decision and responded against Washington with **21 points, five rebounds and 7-for-13 shooting**.

But there is another step Matas still needs to take.

Washington was comfortable hiding **Trae Young** on him defensively, and Buzelis did not consistently demand the basketball or punish the mismatch. Can Matas become an All-Star-level offensive player if he never develops that mentality of saying, **“Give me the ball. I have the advantage.”**

Plus, Haize and Pat discuss Chicago’s plan to send **Dailyn Swain** to the G League for significant developmental minutes.

Rather than leaving the No. 15 overall pick on the end of the NBA bench, Splitter wants Swain playing heavy minutes, handling the ball and making decisions at multiple positions with the Windy City Bulls.

Is that smart long-term development, or should Bulls fans be concerned that a first-round pick may not be ready to contribute immediately?

Chicago appears to be trying to turn Swain into something more valuable than a traditional wing: a **6-foot-7 defender and secondary playmaker** who can initiate offense.

The Bulls’ new regime is starting to make one thing very clear: **development will not always be comfortable.**

Chicago is willing to live with missed threes, hold one of its most important young players accountable, and send a first-round pick to the G League rather than force him into a role he may not be ready for.

  9. BULLS POSTCAST: Caleb Wilson shows a few flashes but the Chicago Bulls STRUGGLE in game 1 loss

    Episode 2432

    Show notes

Caleb Wilson had a couple positive moments but overall, it was a struggle for the Chicago Bulls in their loss to the Toronto Raptors. Matas Buzelis & Josh Giddey were non-factors, and the Bulls couldn't buy a bucket, start the season 0-1.

  10. Bulls LOCK IN Matas & Noa! Norman Powell STAR Trade?! East Sends Chicago A WARNING

    Episode 2431

    Show notes

The Chicago Bulls just made two important long-term decisions — and the next ones could shape the entire rebuild. 👀🐂

On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer react to Chicago officially exercising the 2027-28 team options on Matas Buzelis and Noa Essengue, locking both young forwards in for another season. Matas is now set to make $7.58 million in 2027-28 and becomes extension-eligible next summer, while Noa remains under team control as Chicago continues evaluating his development. Pasted text

The bigger question is what comes next.

Matas averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 blocks last season, and if he takes another major leap, the Bulls could soon be talking about a nine-figure extension. Pasted text

    So Haize and Pat debate:

If Matas averages around 21 points, six rebounds and two blocks this season, would you offer him five years and $150 million next summer?

The guys also discuss what a successful second season should look like for Noa Essengue, who is still only 19 and fighting for opportunities in a crowded young forward rotation.

Then the conversation shifts to Norman Powell and a much bigger front-office question: should the Bulls eventually use him as part of a package for an established star instead of simply flipping him for future picks?

Powell is coming off an All-Star season after averaging 21.7 points per game while shooting 38% from three, and his contract includes a team option for 2027-28. Pasted text

That flexibility could make him valuable in a major trade.

Haize and Pat discuss whether Chicago should eventually follow the type of path Indiana took when it traded for Pascal Siakam — using draft capital and movable contracts to accelerate the timeline around a young core. Would a proven All-Star next to Caleb Wilson, Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey push Chicago toward real contention, or would that be rushing the rebuild?

Plus, the guys react to the Eastern Conference already showing how brutal Chicago’s path could be.

Detroit opened the season with a win over Boston, while Philadelphia beat the defending champion Knicks. Chicago’s first nine games include seven matchups against Toronto, Boston, New York and Philadelphia, giving Tiago Splitter’s young roster an immediate test. Pasted text Pasted text

The question is not just whether the Bulls win or lose.

The Bulls have moved beyond simply collecting young talent. Now Bryson Graham has to decide when to pay, when to develop, and when to strike.

🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat break down the Matas and Noa contract decisions, debate Norman Powell’s value in a potential star trade, and ask whether Chicago is ready for one of the toughest opening stretches in the East.

  11. Zach Collins CLEARED! Nic Claxton OUT Longer… Who Has The BIGGEST First Week For Bulls?

    Episode 2430

    Show notes

The Chicago Bulls are getting one big man back just as another remains sidelined. 👀🐂

On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer react to Zach Collins being fully cleared for practice and potentially being available for the season opener. With Nic Claxton expected to miss another two weeks, Collins’ return could become much more important than anyone expected heading into the first week of the 2026-27 NBA season.

The guys break down what Collins can bring immediately, how Tiago Splitter should manage the center rotation, and whether Collins or Jalen Smith should get the first crack at replacing Claxton in the starting lineup.

Chicago built much of its defensive identity around Claxton’s rim protection, switching ability, and versatility. Without him, the Bulls may have to adjust how aggressively they defend the perimeter and how much responsibility they put on Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson, Isaac Okoro, and the rest of the young core.

Haize and Pat also discuss the bigger concern: how much should Bulls fans worry about Claxton being out another two weeks?

Hamstring injuries can be tricky, and the Bulls cannot afford to rush one of their most important offseason additions back before he is ready. But every game Claxton misses is also another game Chicago has to build chemistry without its expected defensive anchor.

Plus, the guys ask one of the most important questions heading into opening week:

Who has the biggest first week for the Bulls?

Is it Josh Giddey, who has to control the offense and set the tone? Is it Matas Buzelis, who needs to show his Year 3 leap is real? Is it rookie Caleb Wilson, who faces immediate expectations? Or is it Zach Collins, whose sudden importance may force him into a major role right away?

The Bulls finally get to move from preseason questions to real answers. Claxton’s absence creates an early test, Collins’ return could stabilize the frontcourt, and the first week will give fans their first real look at which players are ready to carry bigger responsibilities.

🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat break down Zach Collins’ return, Nic Claxton’s extended absence, and which Bulls player has the most important first week of the season.

  13. Bulls Linked To Dalton Knecht! Is P-Will OUT Of The Rotation + Did Tiago Find The Formula?

    Episode 2428

    Show notes

The Chicago Bulls may not be done reshaping the roster, and Dalton Knecht is now a name to watch. 👀🐂

On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer react to reporting that the Los Angeles Lakers contacted Chicago about Dalton Knecht, with the Bulls mentioned alongside Milwaukee and Utah as teams the Lakers reached out to while trying to trim their roster. Knecht was the No. 17 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, but his value has fallen after an uneven start to his career. Pasted text

The guys debate whether Bryson Graham should take another low-cost swing on a former first-round pick after already finding developmental value in players like Leonard Miller and Jordan Hawkins. Would Knecht’s movement shooting fit next to Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson? Or does Chicago already have too many players competing for similar perimeter minutes?

And if the Lakers may eventually release him, should the Bulls give up anything at all?

Haize and Pat also dive into the growing concern around Patrick Williams.

Williams averaged just 12.1 minutes, 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds during preseason, while shooting 28.6% from three. Those numbers are not disastrous in isolation, but they become much harder to ignore when Williams is earning $18 million this season and competing with Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson, Leonard Miller and Isaac Okoro for forward minutes. Pasted text

The question is no longer simply whether Patrick Williams can become the player Chicago once hoped for.

Does he even belong in Tiago Splitter’s best rotation right now?

The guys discuss whether his salary should matter when setting the rotation, whether the Bulls need to rebuild his trade value, and if attaching an asset to move the contract would actually help the rebuild.

Plus, Haize and Pat break down one of the most encouraging developments from preseason: Tiago Splitter may already be finding the style that best fits this roster.

Chicago has emphasized offensive rebounding, aggressive switching, quick decisions and relentless rim pressure. In the preseason finale against Minnesota, the Bulls scored 133 points, 76 points in the paint, grabbed 17 offensive rebounds and threw down 15 dunks. Pasted text

That raises a fascinating question: what if Chicago’s biggest advantage is not elite shooting or star power, but simply being more athletic, more aggressive and better at creating extra possessions than opponents?

With players like Caleb Wilson, Matas Buzelis, Leonard Miller, Jalen Smith and Tobe Awaka, Splitter may have the personnel to make offensive rebounding and rim pressure part of the Bulls’ identity.

The Bulls may not have a superstar-driven identity yet, but Tiago Splitter appears to be building one around pace, physicality, extra possessions and aggressive young players.

Now Bryson Graham has another decision to make: keep collecting upside plays like Dalton Knecht, or trust the roster already in place.

🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat break down the Dalton Knecht trade buzz, Patrick Williams’ uncertain role and whether Tiago Splitter has already found the formula that can make Chicago better than the sum of its parts.

  14. Giddey Called OVERRATED + Jalen Smith’s Price Is Rising

    Episode 2427

    Show notes

Did the Chicago Bulls quietly win the Ayo Dosunmu trade? And is national media seriously underrating Josh Giddey?

On today’s episode of **Locked On Bulls**, Haize and Pat The Designer revisit one of the most important moves of the Bryson Graham era: **Chicago’s trade of Ayo Dosunmu and Julian Phillips to Minnesota**.

The Bulls received **Leonard Miller, Rob Dillingham and four second-round picks**, then later turned Dillingham into **Buddy Hield**. Meanwhile, Miller has emerged as one of Chicago’s most intriguing young players. Pasted text

Ayo remains a proven NBA contributor and signed a reported **five-year, $112 million extension** with Minnesota, but Chicago has now turned one outgoing player into several pieces of its rebuild. Pasted text

So Haize and Pat ask the real question: **if Minnesota offered Ayo back today for Leonard Miller, Buddy Hield and the remaining assets, would the Bulls even say yes?**

The guys also dive into **The Ringer’s criticism of Josh Giddey** after ranking him No. 83 in its latest NBA Top 100. The concern is not his raw production. Giddey averaged **17 points, 9.1 assists and 8.3 rebounds** last season. The concern is whether those numbers translate into winning impact.

The Ringer highlighted Giddey’s struggles finishing drives, his pull-up shooting efficiency and his turnover rate, while questioning whether he can become a true high-level offensive engine. Pasted text

That creates a great Bulls debate: **is Giddey a future All-Star, or a high-level complementary player who happens to put up All-Star-looking numbers?**

Haize and Pat break down whether Giddey makes **Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson, Leonard Miller and Norman Powell** better enough to outweigh his scoring limitations, and whether Chicago eventually needs to add a true top-30 NBA player to raise the ceiling of the rebuild.

Plus, the guys discuss **Jalen Smith’s growing value heading into a contract year**.

Smith scored **15 points, grabbed seven rebounds and hit three threes against Milwaukee**, continuing to show why his floor spacing gives Chicago something very different from Nic Claxton. Pasted text

That raises a difficult front-office question. If Smith continues shooting near 40% from three, should the Bulls commit long-term money to him? Or could his rising value make him one of Bryson Graham’s best trade assets before the deadline?

    ## Topics Include:
    - Did the Bulls win the Ayo Dosunmu trade?
    - Leonard Miller’s emergence
    - Turning Rob Dillingham into Buddy Hield
    - Would Chicago reverse the Ayo trade today?
    - The Ringer ranking Josh Giddey No. 83
    - Is Giddey’s production translating to winning?
    - Giddey’s finishing and pull-up shooting concerns
    - Future All-Star or elite complementary player?
    - Jalen Smith’s contract-year breakout
    - Jalen Smith vs Nic Claxton
    - Should Chicago extend or trade Smith?
    - Bulls roster-building under Bryson Graham

The Bulls are reaching the point where the rebuild is no longer just about collecting young talent. **Now Chicago has to decide which players truly raise the ceiling, which trades aged well, and which contracts are worth paying.**

🎙️ **Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat debate the Ayo Dosunmu trade, Josh Giddey’s national-media criticism and what the Bulls should do with Jalen Smith before his value gets even more expensive.**

  15. Tiago’s Bulls Look FUN… But 21 Turnovers Could Ruin Everything

    Episode 2426

    Show notes

The Chicago Bulls’ preseason just created a fascinating new rotation debate: did undrafted rookie Jaylin Sellers already move ahead of first-round pick Dailyn Swain? 👀🐂
On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer react to Sellers making his preseason debut and immediately receiving meaningful first-quarter minutes from Tiago Splitter. Sellers responded with 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting, two made threes and two steals in just under 15 minutes, while Swain played a little over 10 minutes and did not enter until much later in the game. Pasted text
That raises a bigger question about the new Bulls regime: does draft position matter at all once the competition starts?
Chicago invested the No. 15 pick in Swain because of his size, versatility and long-term two-way upside. Sellers went undrafted. But if Sellers is already better equipped to shoot, move without the ball and contribute alongside established creators, should Splitter simply reward the player who helps the team more right now?
Haize and Pat also dive into Chicago’s explosive offensive performance against Milwaukee.
The Bulls scored 125 points, made 20 threes, recorded 35 assists and generated 41 points off Milwaukee turnovers. Josh Giddey finished with nine assists, Tre Jones added seven, and Matas Buzelis scored 19 points while knocking down five threes. Pasted text
    That sounds fantastic.
But Chicago also committed 21 turnovers.
So is Tiago Splitter building the fast, unselfish and entertaining offense Bulls fans have wanted for years, or is the pace creating a team that could eventually beat itself against better defenses?
The guys discuss whether 50 three-point attempts are sustainable, how much Chicago’s offense depends on forcing turnovers, and whether Matas Buzelis could become the player who makes the system work even when transition opportunities disappear.
Plus, Haize and Pat ask a question that would have sounded ridiculous a few years ago:
Are the Bulls actually in a better position than the Milwaukee Bucks?
Chicago beat Milwaukee by 21 in preseason, though the Bucks rested many of their key players. More importantly, Milwaukee is now navigating a post-Giannis era while Chicago is trying to build around Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson, Leonard Miller, Dailyn Swain and Noa Essengue. Pasted text
Who has the stronger young core? Who is better positioned to win now? And would finishing ahead of Milwaukee actually make this Bulls season a success?

The Bulls are beginning to reveal something important: competition may matter more than reputation under Tiago Splitter. Sellers is pushing for minutes, the offense is moving at a completely different pace, and Chicago may be closer to the middle of the Eastern Conference than many expected.
🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat debate Jaylin Sellers vs. Dailyn Swain, break down Tiago Splitter’s high-powered but risky offense, and ask whether Chicago has actually moved ahead of Milwaukee.

  16. Nic Claxton Might MISS Opening Night?! Bulls Frontcourt In Trouble

    Episode 2425

    Show notes

The Chicago Bulls are one week away from opening night, and three major questions are starting to take shape around the future of this roster. 👀🐂
On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer start with the biggest long-term debate surrounding Chicago’s young core: who eventually becomes the Bulls’ No. 1 player, Caleb Wilson or Matas Buzelis?
Both forwards have the size, athleticism and two-way upside to become foundational pieces, but they may develop into very different types of stars.

Does Caleb Wilson’s explosiveness, physical tools and growing creation ability give him the higher ceiling? Or is Matas Buzelis’ combination of shooting, size, confidence and three years of NBA development more likely to make him Chicago’s primary option?
The guys debate what Tiago Splitter should prioritize when developing both players and whether the Bulls even need to choose one as the clear No. 1 yet.
Then the conversation turns to an immediate concern: Nic Claxton may not be ready for opening night.

Claxton remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and is expected to be reevaluated shortly before Chicago’s October 21 opener in Toronto. That leaves very little time to return to practice, rebuild conditioning and be fully prepared for regular-season basketball.
That matters because so much of Tiago Splitter’s defensive system was designed around Claxton’s ability to protect the rim, switch onto guards and cover for Chicago’s aggressive perimeter defense.

If Claxton cannot go, should Jalen Smith start at center? Does Zach Collins become the answer if healthy? Or should Chicago experiment with Caleb Wilson, Matas Buzelis and Leonard Miller in smaller frontcourt combinations?
Haize and Pat also ask whether the injury situation proves the Bulls should stop entertaining Jalen Smith trade conversations and keep as much center depth as possible.
Plus, the guys dive into one of Chicago’s most interesting developmental swings: Jordan Hawkins.

The former No. 14 overall pick made his Bulls preseason debut and immediately caught the attention of his former UConn coach Dan Hurley, who publicly celebrated Hawkins’ new opportunity with a simple message: “Free Hawk.”

Could Bryson Graham have found another undervalued young player?
Hawkins entered the NBA with a reputation as an elite movement shooter, but his first few seasons did not match lottery expectations. Now Chicago gets a chance to develop him on a two-way contract with almost no financial risk.

The guys debate whether Hawkins fits Tiago Splitter’s offense better than his previous situations, whether he can eventually push for real rotation minutes, and how his development could impact veterans like Buddy Hield and Norman Powell.

The Bulls have spent the offseason talking about development, versatility and depth. Now those ideas are being tested before the regular season even begins.

🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat debate Caleb Wilson vs. Matas Buzelis, break down growing concerns around Nic Claxton’s availability, and discuss whether Jordan Hawkins could become Bryson Graham’s latest low-risk development win.

  17. Bulls Bench Might Be LOADED?! But One Offensive Problem Could Ruin Everything 👀🐂

    Episode 2424

    Show notes

The Chicago Bulls may have a bigger advantage than anyone expected heading into the 2026-27 NBA season: depth. 👀🐂
On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer break down whether the Bulls’ bench could become one of the strongest parts of Tiago Splitter’s roster after Chicago’s reserves outscored Denver’s bench 75-56.
Leonard Miller scored 26 points, Buddy Hield added 15, Tre Jones returned to the rotation, and players like Noa Essengue and Jordan Hawkins continued getting developmental minutes.
The question is no longer simply whether Miller deserves a bigger role.
It is whether Chicago can consistently win the minutes when opposing stars go to the bench.
A second unit built around combinations of Tre Jones, Buddy Hield, Isaac Okoro, Leonard Miller, Jalen Smith, Zach Collins, and several young players gives Splitter a lot of options. Jones provides organization. Hield provides shooting. Okoro brings perimeter defense. Miller adds athletic downhill scoring.
Could Chicago’s depth become the reason this team wins more games than projected?
Haize and Pat also tackle the biggest concern surrounding the Bulls offense: what happens when teams force Chicago into half-court basketball?
The Bulls have looked dangerous playing fast, creating turnovers and launching threes, but the offense still has a major question when transition opportunities disappear.
Who creates a quality shot with six seconds left on the shot clock?
Is it Norman Powell, the most proven scorer on the roster? Can Matas Buzelis develop into that type of late-clock creator? Does Josh Giddey need to become more aggressive? Or is Chicago developing Caleb Wilson specifically because it hopes he can eventually become that offensive hub?
That question may determine whether this group becomes a legitimate playoff core or simply an entertaining young team.
Plus, Haize and Pat discuss why Tre Jones may be one of the most underrated players on the entire roster.
Jones scored zero points in his preseason debut, but he produced five assists with zero turnovers in just 10 minutes. On a Bulls team that committed 21 turnovers, that type of control stood out.
Chicago has plenty of players capable of scoring. What it may need even more is someone who can organize the second unit, put teammates in the right spots and settle the game when the pace becomes chaotic.
    Topics Include:
    - Could the Bulls bench become a major strength?
    - Leonard Miller’s breakout preseason
    - Buddy Hield’s impact on the second unit
    - Tre Jones returning to the rotation
    - Bulls bench vs. Denver’s bench
    - Could Chicago outperform low win projections because of depth?
    - The Bulls’ biggest half-court offensive weakness
    - Who is Chicago’s best late-clock shot creator?
    - Norman Powell’s importance in close games
    - Matas Buzelis’ development as a creator
    - Caleb Wilson’s long-term offensive ceiling
    - Tre Jones’ five assists and zero turnovers
    - Could Tre Jones eventually close games?
    - Tiago Splitter’s rotation options
The Bulls may not have a traditional superstar bench scorer, but they may not need one. If Chicago can consistently win second-unit minutes, play fast, defend aggressively and get steady organization from Tre Jones, the depth of this roster could become one of the biggest surprises of the season.
The bigger question is what happens when the game slows down.
🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat debate whether Chicago’s bench is actually its biggest advantage, whether the half-court offense could hold the team back, and why Tre Jones may be far more important than his scoring numbers suggest.

  18. CALEB VS. BOOZER Round 2! Leonard Miller DEMANDS Minutes + Is Norman Powell Bulls’ #1 Scorer? 👀🐂

    Episode 2422

    Show notes

Caleb Wilson vs. Cameron Boozer is back, and this time the matchup could give Bulls fans an early look at two of the biggest Rookie of the Year contenders in the 2026 NBA Draft class. 👀🐂
On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer preview Chicago’s next preseason matchup and break down the growing comparison between Caleb Wilson and Cameron Boozer, the players selected No. 4 and No. 3 in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The two already gave fans a show during Summer League, when Wilson exploded for 35 points and seven made threes, while Boozer answered with 23 points, six rebounds and four assists in a one-point Memphis win. Pasted text
Now they meet again with both players carrying real Rookie of the Year expectations.
Haize and Pat debate whether Caleb has the higher long-term ceiling, whether Boozer’s polish and basketball IQ make him more NBA-ready right now, and how much Wilson’s three-point shooting could determine how quickly he closes the gap offensively.
Then the conversation shifts to Leonard Miller, who quietly produced one of the Bulls’ best performances in the preseason opener. Miller scored 14 points in 14 minutes on 5-for-7 shooting, while also adding two assists and two steals. Tiago Splitter even experimented with him at small-ball center. Pasted text
That creates a difficult rotation question: why shouldn’t Miller be ahead of Patrick Williams if he continues playing with more aggression and efficiency?
The guys discuss whether small-ball center could become Miller’s cleanest path to consistent minutes, how well he fits with Josh Giddey in transition, and whether Chicago may have another young player capable of becoming a legitimate rotation piece.
Plus, Haize and Pat ask whether Norman Powell might actually be the Bulls’ best offensive player right now.
Powell scored 14 points in just over 14 minutes, shooting 3-for-4 from the field, 3-for-4 from three and 5-for-6 from the line in his preseason debut. Pasted text
That performance highlights exactly why Chicago added him. Powell gives the Bulls proven shot-making and perimeter gravity that can create more room for Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson and Josh Giddey.
But if Powell is Chicago’s most reliable scorer, should he actually lead the team in scoring? And if he averages around 22 points efficiently while the Bulls remain in the Play-In race, should Bryson Graham still consider trading him?
    Topics Include:
    - Caleb Wilson vs Cameron Boozer Round 2
    - Early Rookie of the Year debate
    - Caleb Wilson vs Cameron Boozer long-term ceiling
    - Caleb’s shooting development
    - Leonard Miller’s breakout preseason performance
    - Leonard Miller vs Patrick Williams rotation debate
    - Miller as a small-ball center
    - Norman Powell’s huge preseason debut
    - Is Powell the Bulls’ best pure scorer?
    - Powell’s impact on Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson
    - Should Chicago keep Powell if the Bulls are competitive?
    - Bulls preseason rotation questions

🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat break down Caleb Wilson vs Cameron Boozer, Leonard Miller’s push for more minutes, and whether Norman Powell should become Chicago’s No. 1 offensive option.

  19. Tobe Awaka SHOCKS Bulls Fans! Dailyn Swain BREAKS OUT + Tiago’s Defense Raises QUESTIONS 👀

    Episode 2421

    Show notes

The Chicago Bulls got their first preseason win, but the biggest stories may have come from two young players almost nobody expected to steal the show. 👀🐂

On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer break down Tobe Awaka’s breakout preseason performance, after the undrafted rookie put up 14 points, 11 rebounds, six offensive boards, one steal and one block in just 21 minutes. Awaka even led Chicago in rebounding despite playing fewer minutes than several of the Bulls’ bigger-name young players.

That raises a real rotation question: did Awaka just force Tiago Splitter to take him seriously?

His rebounding and physicality already look like NBA-level skills, but six fouls in roughly 21 minutes also showed the challenge ahead. Can Awaka clean up the foul trouble enough to become a real rotation center, even after Nic Claxton and Zach Collins return?

Haize and Pat also dive into Dailyn Swain’s most encouraging performance yet. Swain finished with 10 points, six assists, two steals and perfect 3-for-3 shooting, while also going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
The bigger story may be the six assists.

Could Chicago be developing Swain as more than a traditional wing? His size, defensive versatility and passing could open the door for a role as a 6-foot-7 secondary ball-handler, especially if he can organize offense without needing to become an elite shooter immediately.

Plus, the guys take a deeper look at Tiago Splitter’s defense after Chicago forced 26 Phoenix turnovers, recorded 13 steals and five blocks, yet still surrendered 117 points and 40 in the first quarter.

Is Splitter’s aggressive defensive philosophy already working, or are the Bulls simply creating chaos without consistently preventing good shots?
And there is another concern worth watching: Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson combined to go 0-for-10 from three, even though the rest of Chicago’s roster shot 12-for-23 from deep.

    Topics Include:
    - Tobe Awaka’s 14-point, 11-rebound breakout
    - Could Awaka earn real Bulls rotation minutes?
    - Awaka vs. Noa Essengue as developmental bigs
    - Dailyn Swain’s six-assist performance
    - Could Swain become a big secondary point guard?
    - Tiago Splitter’s aggressive defensive system
    - Bulls forcing 26 turnovers
    - Why Chicago still gave up 117 points
    - Nic Claxton’s importance to the defense
    - Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson’s shooting struggles
    - What Bulls fans should watch next in preseason

The Bulls won the game, but the most important takeaways were bigger than the score. Awaka may have discovered a real NBA role, Swain may have shown a new dimension to his game, and Tiago’s system already looks capable of creating both excitement and chaos.

🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat break down Tobe Awaka’s surprise breakout, Dailyn Swain’s development, and what Chicago’s first preseason game revealed about Tiago Splitter’s new-look Bulls.

  20. Tiago CHALLENGES Matas & Caleb! Noa At CENTER?! Bulls Preseason Gets REAL Tonight

    Episode 2420

    Show notes

Chicago Bulls preseason basketball is finally here, and Tiago Splitter has already made it clear what he wants to see from Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson: stop reacting and start dictating games. 👀🐂
On today’s episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer preview Chicago’s first preseason action and break down Splitter’s challenge to the Bulls’ two young forwards.
Tiago is not judging Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson simply by how many points they score. He wants physicality, aggressive closeout attacks, rebounding, communication, one-on-one defense, and a mindset that forces opponents to react to them.
That creates a bigger question heading into preseason: are Matas and Caleb ready to become players who dictate NBA games instead of just flashing talent?
The guys discuss what aggression should actually look like for both players, how much freedom Caleb should get to play through mistakes, and whether Matas needs to become a more forceful offensive presence this season. They also look at how Chicago’s pressure defense and transition attack could benefit from both forwards rebounding and immediately pushing the pace.
Haize and Pat then dive into one of the most interesting developments created by Chicago’s frontcourt injuries: Noa Essengue potentially getting minutes at center.
With Nic Claxton sidelined and Zach Collins still working his way back, the Bulls could experiment with smaller lineups featuring Essengue or Caleb Wilson at the five. Could Noa’s mobility, length, transition ability, and switchability eventually make small-ball center his cleanest pathway to NBA minutes?
Or would asking him to learn another position this early complicate his development?
Plus, the guys react to CBS Sports ranking Tiago Splitter 21st among NBA head coaches entering the season.
Splitter has received plenty of praise from Bulls fans for his defensive philosophy, player development approach, pace, and the physical culture he is trying to build. But the national view remains more cautious.
Is No. 21 fair? And what would Tiago have to accomplish in Year 1 with Chicago to prove he belongs among the NBA’s top 15 coaches?
    Topics Include:
    - Tiago Splitter challenging Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson
    - What it means to “dictate” an NBA game
    - Caleb Wilson playing through rookie mistakes
    - Matas Buzelis becoming a more aggressive scorer
    - Bulls pressure defense and transition identity
    - Noa Essengue getting small-ball center minutes
    - Could Noa’s long-term role actually be at the five?
    - Frontcourt opportunities with Nic Claxton out
    - Bulls preseason opener expectations
    - CBS Sports ranking Tiago Splitter No. 21
    - Is Tiago Splitter being overrated or underrated?
    - What success should look like for Tiago in Year 1
Training camp talk is over. Now Bulls fans finally get to see whether the physicality, defensive aggression, development, and new identity Tiago Splitter has preached actually show up against another NBA team.
🎙️ Tune in to Locked On Bulls as Haize and Pat break down Tiago’s challenge to Matas and Caleb, the Noa Essengue-at-center experiment, and whether Chicago’s new head coach deserves more respect than his No. 21 national ranking.
