  3. REACTION: Indiana Basketball Off to a TERRIFIC Start w/ BLOWOUT Win Over Eastern Illinois in Opener

    Episode 1602

    Show notes

Indiana Basketball is off to a TERRIFIC start in Year 2 under Darian DeVries! The Hoosiers dominated Eastern Illinois 91-57 in their 2026-27 season opener, and Markus Burton delivered a statement performance with 19 points, 5 assists and just 1 turnover!

On this live postgame edition of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins breaks down Indiana's 34-point blowout victory, the biggest takeaways from opening night, and why this team already looks completely different from last season.

Markus Burton was outstanding, shooting 7-of-8 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range. After a disappointing exhibition stretch, Indiana's new point guard showed exactly what he can bring to Darian DeVries' offense.

But Burton wasn't the only player who impressed!

Bryce Lindsay scored 14 points off the bench, Samet Yigitoglu provided size and production inside, and Sam Alexis showed why Indiana's frontcourt depth could be a major advantage this season.

We also discuss Aiden Sherrell's difficult shooting night, Indiana's deep guard rotation, Trent Sisley's contributions, and the offensive versatility that makes this year's Hoosiers so exciting.

PLUS: Jacob shares his biggest LIKES and DISLIKES from the win.

Indiana shot 50% from the floor, hit 38% of its three-point attempts, and outscored Eastern Illinois 29-8 in points off turnovers. But there are still concerns about perimeter defense, defensive communication, guard foul trouble and Sherrell's outside shooting.

Did Indiana show the improvements we've been waiting to see under Darian DeVries? How good can this team become when the competition gets tougher?

The Hoosiers return to action Thursday against Bellarmine, and Locked On Hoosiers will be LIVE again for postgame reaction!

  4. Curt Cignetti Has Some BIG Decisions to Make During Indiana's Bye Week!

    Episode 1601

    Show notes

Indiana Football WON against Minnesota… and somehow DROPPED TWO SPOTS in the AP Poll! The Hoosiers fell from No. 4 to No. 6 despite winning another Big Ten game, and Jacob Goins has some serious questions about the latest college football rankings.

On this bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob breaks down why he disagrees with the AP Top 25, where he ranks Indiana in his own JG Poll, and what the first College Football Playoff rankings could mean for Curt Cignetti's Hoosiers.

Indiana is ranked No. 6 in the latest AP Poll, but Jacob has the Hoosiers at No. 4. He also questions Utah's No. 3 ranking, evaluates Miami, Georgia, Notre Dame, UCLA, BYU, Alabama and Ohio State, and explains why he believes the college football rankings are becoming increasingly difficult to defend.

PLUS: Indiana Football enters a crucial bye week with TWO major position battles to settle before USC!

Should Grant Wilson officially replace Josh Hoover as Indiana's starting quarterback? Has Paddy McAteer earned the full-time field goal kicking job after his clutch 60-yard field goal against Minnesota?

Jacob explains why he wants both decisions made during the bye week and why Indiana must get healthy before the final stretch of the regular season.

We discuss injury concerns involving Josh Hoover, Turbo Richard, Rolijah Hardy and A.J. Harris, plus the importance of Indiana's depth at running back, linebacker and in the secondary.

The Hoosiers still have USC, Washington and Purdue remaining on the regular-season schedule, with Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff aspirations on the line.

And with the first CFP rankings scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, Jacob explains why he has lost confidence in the committee's evaluation process and what he wants to see when the initial rankings are released.

  5. Here's Why Indiana Basketball Will MAKE the Sweet 16! | FULL SEASON PREVIEW

    Episode 1600

    Show notes

Indiana Basketball could go 16-4 in the Big Ten! Darian DeVries enters Year 2 with a completely revamped roster, massive expectations, and a chance to bring the Hoosiers back to March Madness.

On today's Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins delivers his complete Indiana Basketball 2026-27 season preview ahead of the Hoosiers' opener against Eastern Illinois at Assembly Hall.

After an 18-14 season, a 9-11 Big Ten record, and another missed NCAA Tournament, Indiana desperately needs a turnaround. Jacob explains why he believes Darian DeVries has addressed the biggest problems from last season with improved scoring depth, better guard play, more size, stronger rebounding and one of the nation's best transfer portal classes.

We break down the entire Indiana Basketball roster, including Notre Dame transfer Markus Burton, Bryce Lindsay, Darren Harris, Jaeden Mustaf, Aiden Sherrell, Samet Yigitoglu, Trent Sisley, Sam Alexis and Indiana's talented freshmen.

Could Bryce Lindsay force his way into the starting lineup? Will Markus Burton provide the point guard play Indiana has been missing? Can Aiden Sherrell become the centerpiece of DeVries' offense?

PLUS: We preview Indiana's entire schedule, including major non-conference matchups against Arkansas and Kentucky, early Big Ten games against Rutgers and Iowa, and the toughest conference stretch featuring Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State.

Jacob shares his boldest predictions, including a possible 16-4 Big Ten season, an NCAA Tournament victory, and a potential Sweet 16 run.

  6. TRENDING: Josh Hoover OUT as Indiana's Starting QB, Grant Wilson Needs to Be QB1 Moving Forward!

    Episode 1599

    Show notes

Grant Wilson EARNED Indiana Football's starting quarterback job! After Curt Cignetti benched Josh Hoover against Minnesota, the Hoosiers now enter a critical bye week with a massive QB decision ahead of their matchup against USC.

On this bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins explains why he believes Grant Wilson should be Indiana's starting quarterback moving forward and why Josh Hoover's struggles have reached a breaking point.

Indiana escaped Minnesota with a 23-16 overtime victory, but the biggest story was the quarterback change. Hoover struggled in the first half before Wilson entered and helped spark the offense, ultimately delivering the game-winning touchdown pass to Charlie Becker.

Jacob breaks down Hoover's season-long inconsistency, why the problems began before his recent injuries, and how Wilson changed the energy of Indiana's offense.

Hoover finished 8-of-19 for 119 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Wilson completed 9-of-17 passes for 156 yards and the overtime winner.

Did Grant Wilson just earn QB1? Should Curt Cignetti give Wilson all the first-team practice reps during Indiana's bye week?

PLUS: Indiana Football desperately needs to get healthy before hosting USC on November 14.

Jacob discusses the latest injury concerns involving Josh Hoover, Turbo Richard, Rolijah Hardy and A.J. Harris. With USC's dangerous passing attack approaching, Indiana needs its defensive starters healthy and ready.

We also break down the Hoosiers' biggest bye-week priorities, including offensive execution, quarterback preparation, special teams, play calling and game management.

Indiana still has national championship aspirations, but can Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers make the necessary adjustments before the final three regular-season games against USC, Washington and Purdue?

  7. REACTION: INDIANA WINS IN OT AGAIN! Hoosiers Still Have BIG Issues | Josh Hoover BENCHED

    Episode 1598

    Show notes

Josh Hoover BENCHED! Grant Wilson steps in, Indiana Football survives Minnesota 23-16 in overtime, and Curt Cignetti now faces a HUGE quarterback decision heading into the bye week!

Indiana Football found another way to win, but this one was anything but pretty.

On this live postgame edition of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins reacts to Indiana's dramatic 23-16 overtime victory against Minnesota, Josh Hoover being benched at halftime, Grant Wilson's second-half performance, and the massive changes the Hoosiers may need before facing USC.

Josh Hoover finished 8-of-19 for 119 yards, one touchdown and one interception before Curt Cignetti made the switch to Grant Wilson.

Wilson responded by completing 9-of-17 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, including the game-winning overtime throw to Charlie Becker.

Did Grant Wilson just earn Indiana's starting quarterback job? Jacob explains why he believes Wilson should be QB1 moving forward and why the quarterback change gave Indiana's offense a much-needed spark.

PLUS: Paddy McAteer delivered an incredible 60-yard field goal to force overtime! After a disastrous special teams performance, did McAteer also earn the starting kicking job over Nico Radicic?

Indiana's defense was outstanding once again. The Hoosiers held Minnesota to just 16 points and approximately 215 total yards, with Tobi Osunsanmi delivering the game-ending sack in overtime.

Jacob breaks down the performances of Charlie Becker, Nick Marsh, Lee Beebe Jr., Jacob Savage, Byron Baldwin, Jamari Sharpe and the rest of Indiana's defense.

We also discuss injuries to A.J. Harris and Turbo Richard, Rolijah Hardy's pregame injury, Curt Cignetti's postgame comments and the biggest problems Indiana must solve during the bye week.

Indiana won, and its College Football Playoff hopes remain alive. But can the Hoosiers continue winning with this level of offensive inconsistency and special teams mistakes?

  8. LATEST: Indiana is BETTER Than Miami, Notre Dame, BYU, & Georgia - Hoosiers Will PROVE it This Week

    Episode 1597

    Show notes

Indiana Football is STILL a legitimate national championship contender, and I'd take Curt Cignetti's Hoosiers over No. 1 Miami right now!

Despite Indiana's recent offensive struggles, the Hoosiers have one of the best defenses in college football. But can Josh Hoover and the Indiana offense make the adjustments necessary to compete for another national championship?

On this bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins joins TJ Pittenger of Big Ten Football Addiction to debate Indiana's national championship chances, the biggest problems facing the Hoosiers, and why Indiana could still be one of the most dangerous teams in America.

Indiana's defense has been outstanding, but the offense has struggled to find consistency. Josh Hoover, the offensive line, the rushing attack, the wide receiver rotation and the tight ends all come under the microscope.

Jacob explains why he believes Indiana's offense is only a few adjustments away from becoming much more effective and why the upcoming bye week could be crucial.

PLUS: Would Indiana beat No. 1 Miami?

Jacob makes the case for Curt Cignetti and Indiana's defense against Miami's explosive offense led by Darian Mensah. TJ leans toward Miami, setting up a national championship debate about which teams can actually be trusted.

Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia, BYU, UCLA and Utah are all discussed as potential contenders. Jacob also reveals why Notre Dame would be his tentative national championship pick if the season ended with teams playing at their current levels.

Then, the Big Ten College Football Playoff race takes center stage!

Ohio State travels to USC with major playoff implications. Can Lincoln Riley and the Trojans bounce back? Will Ohio State overcome its quarterback uncertainty?

Wisconsin travels to Iowa in another important Big Ten matchup. Could the Badgers win out and make the College Football Playoff? Is Nebraska still alive? And will the Big Ten's difficult remaining schedule hurt the conference's playoff representation?

  9. B1G Expert LEAKS the Secret to Indiana Beating PJ Fleck & Minnesota Tomorrow!

    Episode 1596

    Show notes

Indiana Football is a nearly THREE-TOUCHDOWN favorite against Minnesota, but are the Hoosiers heading into a much tougher matchup than people realize?

No. 4 Indiana is preparing to host P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers for Homecoming, with ESPN College GameDay coming to Bloomington. Curt Cignetti's Hoosiers are expected to win, but Josh Hoover and the Indiana offense have struggled to find consistency.

On today's episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins is joined by TJ Pittinger of Big Ten Football Addiction to break down Indiana vs. Minnesota, the biggest matchup concerns, and what the Hoosiers need to do to get their offense back on track.

Minnesota is coming off a major win over ranked Iowa, and its secondary presents a difficult challenge for Indiana's passing attack. Can Josh Hoover bounce back after completing just eight passes against Michigan? Will Indiana finally establish a consistent rushing attack? And can Curt Cignetti get the Hoosiers playing their best football before November?

Jacob and TJ explain why Indiana should commit to the running game, involve its running backs as receivers, and avoid forcing difficult throws against Minnesota's defensive backs.

PLUS: Indiana Football's bye week is almost here, and the timing couldn't be better!

After nine consecutive games, Indiana will finally get a break before a massive November matchup with USC. Jacob explains why Josh Hoover's health, offensive adjustments, roster depth and recruiting will all be priorities during the week off.

Could Indiana vs. USC determine the Hoosiers' College Football Playoff future? How important is the final stretch against USC, Washington and Purdue?

Finally, Jacob makes his Week 9 college football predictions!

The picks include Wisconsin vs. Iowa, Northwestern vs. Oregon, Ohio State vs. USC, Arizona vs. Texas Tech, Georgia vs. Florida and Cincinnati vs. Utah.

Jacob predicts a major Big Ten upset and identifies another surprising underdog that could shake up the national playoff race.

  11. Indiana Football Just Got BAD Injury News Before Minnesota!

    Episode 1595

    Show notes

Indiana Football just received some BIG injury news ahead of Saturday's showdown with Minnesota!

The first Big Ten availability report of the week lists Davion Chandler and Kellan Wyatt as OUT, while quarterback Josh Hoover is officially PROBABLE and defensive back Quan Sanks is QUESTIONABLE.

What do these developments mean for Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers?

On today's bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins breaks down the Wednesday availability report, explains why Chandler's absence makes Indiana's wide receiver depth even more concerning, and discusses Wyatt's difficult season following his injury and eligibility battle.

Chandler ranks third on Indiana's team in receptions and receiving yards behind Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh. With the Hoosiers already searching for another reliable receiving option, who will step up against Minnesota?

PLUS: Josh Hoover is back on the injury report!

Hoover is listed as probable, and Curt Cignetti has expressed optimism that his quarterback will be healthier this week. Jacob explains why he expects Hoover to start against Minnesota, what the injury designation means, and why Indiana needs its quarterback at his best for the final stretch of the season.

Then, the Big Ten College Football Playoff picture gets CRAZY!

Nine Big Ten programs are discussed as remaining in the playoff conversation, but Jacob believes the conference could realistically send only TWO teams to the postseason.

Indiana, Ohio State, UCLA, Northwestern, Wisconsin, USC, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota all factor into the discussion.

Could Indiana miss the College Football Playoff with two losses? Would a victory over USC strengthen the Hoosiers' résumé? And could the Big Ten be at a disadvantage compared with the SEC when the selection committee makes its final decisions?

  12. Dan Lanning's Oregon Collapse Just Sparked a HUGE Debate in the Big Ten!

    Episode 1593

    Show notes

Is Dan Lanning becoming the NEW James Franklin at Oregon?!

Oregon Football reportedly invested more than $50 MILLION into its roster, but the Ducks are falling well short of their College Football Playoff expectations. Is Dan Lanning the biggest problem in Eugene, or does Oregon need to give him more time?

On this special Locked On College Football crossover, Jacob Goins of Locked On Hoosiers joins Zach Seyko of Locked On Nittany Lions to debate Dan Lanning's future, Oregon's disappointing season and whether the Ducks are repeating the same mistakes Penn State made under James Franklin.

Zach brings his firsthand perspective covering the James Franklin era at Penn State, while Jacob questions whether Oregon can continue blaming injuries, coordinator turnover and assistant coaches for falling short.

The conversation covers Dante Moore's injury, Oregon's highly recruited backup quarterbacks, the loss of offensive coordinator Will Stein, Dan Lanning's coaching hires and the pressure that comes with one of college football's most expensive rosters.

Should Oregon consider moving on from Dan Lanning? Is he actually worse than James Franklin in big games? And what does this season reveal about the importance of coaching versus NIL spending?

PLUS: The Big Ten College Football Playoff race is getting CRAZY!

Indiana, Ohio State, UCLA and Northwestern are all major parts of the conversation, while Wisconsin, USC, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska could still make things interesting.

Jacob and Zach debate whether the Big Ten is being underrated compared with the SEC, why defense still matters in championship football and which surprise teams could crash the playoff.

Finally, it's time for Week 9 Big Ten predictions!

The guys break down Indiana vs. Minnesota, Ohio State vs. USC, Northwestern vs. Oregon, Wisconsin vs. Iowa, Michigan vs. Rutgers, Purdue vs. Penn State and more.

Can Curt Cignetti and Indiana take care of business against P.J. Fleck and Minnesota? Will Ohio State survive a road trip to USC with a backup quarterback? Can Northwestern upset Oregon? And is Penn State ready to bounce back?

  13. NEWS: Top Recruits Are FLOCKING to Indiana Football This Weekend!

    Episode 1592

    Show notes

Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck just made a HUGE statement about Indiana Football ahead of Saturday's Big Ten showdown in Bloomington!

Fleck had major praise for Curt Cignetti's Indiana Hoosiers, suggesting that IU could have the BEST defensive line in college football. He also highlighted the incredible talent of Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh as Minnesota prepares to face Josh Hoover and the Hoosiers.

On today's bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins breaks down Fleck's comments, explains why Indiana's defense could dominate Minnesota's offense, and shares his personal impressions of Fleck after meeting him at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago.

    But that's not all!

Indiana Football is preparing for a MASSIVE recruiting weekend as ESPN College GameDay comes to Bloomington for the Hoosiers' homecoming matchup with Minnesota!

According to recruiting information discussed from Steve Wiltfong's reporting, Indiana is expected to host several highly ranked prospects from the 2028 and 2029 recruiting classes.

One of the biggest names is Jevin Severson, a highly rated 2028 tight end ranked No. 2 at his position in the rankings cited on the show.

Jacob discusses why Indiana's use of tight ends, including Trevor Gibbs and Brock Schott, could be important to the program's recruiting pitch.

The episode also covers other expected visitors at running back, cornerback, along the defensive front and on the offensive line, including 2029 offensive tackle Lincoln Walsworth.

Can Curt Cignetti use College GameDay to make another huge impression on elite recruits? What does P.J. Fleck really think about Indiana's defense? And can Minnesota find a way to slow down Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh?

  14. Las Vegas is DEAD WRONG About Indiana vs Minnesota This Weekend!

    Episode 1591

    Show notes

Indiana Football is a 20.5-POINT FAVORITE against Minnesota this Saturday, and Jacob Goins isn't buying the nearly three-touchdown spread!

Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers return to Bloomington for homecoming with College GameDay in town, but can Josh Hoover and the Indiana offense really dominate the Golden Gophers?

According to the FanDuel betting line discussed on today's Locked On Hoosiers, Indiana is favored by 20.5 points. Jacob believes the Hoosiers will win, potentially by multiple scores, but explains why the massive point spread is difficult to justify after Indiana's recent Big Ten performances.

Minnesota, led by P.J. Fleck, has defeated Washington, Michigan and Iowa when those teams were ranked. The Golden Gophers also feature a talented secondary with seven interceptions, making this another important test for Indiana's struggling passing offense.

Can Indiana finally put together a dominant offensive performance? Will Josh Hoover bounce back against Minnesota? And is Las Vegas expecting too much from Curt Cignetti's team?

PLUS: Indiana Football's freshmen are stepping up in a BIG way!

Jacob highlights Trevor Gibbs earning three consecutive starts at tight end, Blake Smythe contributing along the defensive line, Henry Ohlinger's positional versatility and the breakout emergence of freshman linebacker Jacob Savage.

Savage has recorded 21 tackles, one sack and one pass deflection, and his increased playing time is giving defensive coordinator Bryant Haines more flexibility.

Finally, ESPN has updated its College Football Playoff bubble outlook, and the Big Ten picture is getting WILD!

ESPN's analysis places Indiana, Ohio State and UCLA in the playoff if the field were selected today, while six more Big Ten teams remain in its too-early-to-tell category: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Nebraska, USC and Iowa.

Could Wisconsin make a late playoff push? How dangerous is Minnesota's remaining schedule? And is Indiana still capable of winning a national championship?

  15. This Is Becoming a SERIOUS Concern For Indiana Football…

    Episode 1590

    Show notes

Indiana Football has a HUGE offensive problem that goes beyond Josh Hoover, and it could become a serious threat to the Hoosiers' College Football Playoff hopes!

Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh have been outstanding for Curt Cignetti's Indiana Hoosiers. But where is Indiana's third wide receiver?

Becker has 42 receptions for 726 yards and 8 touchdowns, while Marsh has 34 catches for 610 yards and 7 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Davion Chandler, Shazz Preston and Tyler Morris have combined for just 31 receptions.

On this bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins explains why Indiana's passing offense has become too dependent on Becker and Marsh, how opposing defenses could exploit that weakness, and what Mike Shanahan and Josh Hoover must do to get more players involved.

Against Michigan, five of Hoover's eight completed passes went to Becker or Marsh. Indiana's offense struggled to move the football, but Brock Schott's crucial overtime reception showed what can happen when another receiving option gets involved.

Can Tyler Morris, Shazz Preston or Davion Chandler emerge as Indiana's WR3? Should the Hoosiers get tight ends and running backs more involved in the passing game? And can Indiana fix this issue before facing Minnesota and the College Football Playoff?

PLUS: Indiana Football's defense is BACK!

Bryant Haines has helped transform the Hoosiers' defense into one of the team's biggest strengths, and several players deserve more recognition.

Tobi Osunsanmi is developing into a dominant pass rusher and one of Indiana's most impactful defenders.

Amari Ferrell has recorded three interceptions over his last two games, while Jamari Sharpe, A.J. Harris and Preston Zachman have helped stabilize the secondary.

And Jacob Savage has emerged as an important piece of Indiana's linebacker rotation, recording 21 tackles, a sack and a pass deflection this season.

Jacob breaks down why these defensive standouts are so important to Indiana's hopes of making another deep postseason run.

  16. National Analyst Just Confessed His CONCERN for Curt Cignetti & Indiana Football

    Episode 1589

    Show notes

Indiana Football has a MAJOR offensive problem, and Spencer McLaughlin of Locked On College Football is questioning whether the Hoosiers can make a serious College Football Playoff run!

After Indiana's ugly 13–6 overtime victory over Michigan, the Hoosiers are still ranked No. 4 nationally. But Josh Hoover and the Indiana offense have struggled to find consistency, raising serious questions about Curt Cignetti's team's national championship potential.

On this episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins is joined by Spencer McLaughlin to debate Indiana Football's biggest weaknesses, the Hoosiers' playoff chances and whether this team can rediscover its championship form.

Spencer explains why he believes Indiana is a good team but not currently playing like a great one. He raises concerns about Josh Hoover, the offensive line, execution in critical situations and the possibility of another regular-season loss.

Jacob pushes back with a more optimistic argument: What if Curt Cignetti and Mike Shanahan FIX Indiana's offense?

With an elite defense, talented running backs, Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh at wide receiver, and a manageable remaining schedule, could Indiana still become a national championship favorite?

The Hoosiers face Minnesota before their bye week, followed by USC, Washington and Purdue. Jacob explains why the offense must improve quickly and why the upcoming stretch could determine Indiana's entire season.

PLUS: The AP Poll vs. the JG Poll!

Jacob reveals his latest college football Top 25 opinions, including Indiana at No. 4, Wisconsin at No. 20, Northwestern at No. 15 and Florida at No. 16.

Why is Miami ranked No. 1? Does Ohio State deserve the No. 2 spot with quarterback concerns? Is Georgia a true Top 3 team? And how should the College Football Playoff committee evaluate a chaotic national championship race?

  17. Curt Cignetti Just Gave a MASSIVE Update on Josh Hoover's Health for This Weekend vs Minnesota!

    Episode 1588

    Show notes

Curt Cignetti just delivered a message about Josh Hoover's health and Indiana Football's quarterback situation ahead of Minnesota!

After Josh Hoover struggled in Indiana's 13–6 overtime win over Michigan, Cignetti addressed the quarterback's status during his Monday press conference, saying he expects Hoover to be fine and better this week.

Does that mean Indiana is sticking with Hoover against the Minnesota Golden Gophers? What happened to the idea of resting him before the bye week? And can Indiana's coaching staff get the passing offense back on track?

On this Monday bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins reacts to Cignetti's latest comments, explains why he believes the coaching staff still trusts Hoover, and discusses what Indiana must improve to remain a national championship contender.

Hoover completed just 8 of 18 passes for 81 yards and an interception against Michigan. Curt Cignetti acknowledged that the passing game struggled in practice leading up to that matchup, but expects improvement.

Jacob breaks down the difference between benching Hoover because of poor performance and resting him to protect his health. He also explains why he still believes Hoover gives Indiana its best chance to win when healthy.

PLUS: Indiana Basketball SURVIVES Western Kentucky in its final exhibition!

Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers escaped with a 79–74 victory, but it wasn't pretty.

Indiana shot just 40% from the floor and 62% from the free-throw line while committing 14 turnovers.

Markus Burton struggled again, shooting 1-of-11 from the field, while Darren Harris went 0-of-5. Meanwhile, Bryce Lindsay delivered 20 points and four made three-pointers to help Indiana complete its comeback.

Should Indiana fans be concerned about Burton's shooting? Has Bryce Lindsay emerged as the Hoosiers' most dependable preseason guard? And what needs to improve before the regular-season opener against Eastern Illinois on November 2?

  18. Should Curt Cignetti SIT Josh Hoover vs. Minnesota IF He Isn't Healthy?

    Episode 1587

    Show notes

Should Curt Cignetti SIT Josh Hoover against Minnesota to protect Indiana Football's College Football Playoff hopes?!

Josh Hoover wasn't 100% healthy against Michigan, and Indiana now faces a major decision ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Could the Hoosiers give Hoover a game off, use Grant Wilson or Tyler Cherry at quarterback, and take advantage of the upcoming bye week to get their starter healthy before USC?

On this Monday episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins breaks down Indiana's quarterback situation, the chaotic Big Ten Championship race and the latest Pro Football Focus grades from Indiana's 13–6 overtime victory against Michigan.

FIRST: What should Indiana do with Josh Hoover?

Curt Cignetti acknowledged that Hoover wasn't fully healthy against Michigan, and the coaching staff discussed a potential quarterback change during the game.

Jacob explains why he still believes Hoover is Indiana's best quarterback but thinks the Hoosiers must seriously consider resting him against Minnesota if playing could make his health situation worse.

With USC, Washington and Purdue remaining on the schedule, is protecting Hoover now the smartest move for Indiana's postseason chances?

PLUS: The Big Ten Championship race is getting CRAZY!

UCLA, Ohio State, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota and Wisconsin are all part of a fascinating conference race following another weekend of major upsets.

Indiana climbed to No. 4 in the AP poll, but could the Hoosiers actually be BETTER OFF missing the Big Ten Championship Game?

Jacob explains why avoiding an extra game might benefit Indiana's College Football Playoff chances and identifies Wisconsin as a potential surprise contender.

FINALLY: Indiana's PFF grades against Michigan tell a revealing story!

Josh Hoover earned a 46 grade, while Nick Marsh received a 53 and Brock Schott graded at 73.

On defense, Amari Ferrell led the way with an 84, Isaiah Jones earned a 76 and Tobi Osunsanmi received a 70.

Which Indiana players stood out? Where must the offensive line improve? And what do the snap counts reveal about the Hoosiers' struggles?

  19. Curt Cignetti Just Admitted Something WILD About Josh Hoover, Indiana's Offense vs Michigan

    Episode 1586

    Show notes

Curt Cignetti just revealed that Indiana Football discussed BENCHING Josh Hoover for Grant Wilson during the second half against Michigan!

Following Indiana's 13–6 overtime victory at Michigan, Cignetti acknowledged that Hoover wasn't 100% healthy and that the Hoosiers discussed making a quarterback change. So why did Indiana ultimately stick with Hoover?

On this Sunday bonus episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins reacts to Cignetti's surprising postgame comments, Indiana's quarterback dilemma and what it means for the Hoosiers' College Football Playoff hopes.

Josh Hoover completed just 8 of 18 passes for 81 yards with an interception against Michigan. While he delivered in overtime with a key completion to Brock Schott and the game-winning rushing touchdown, Indiana's offense continues to struggle.

Did Curt Cignetti make the right decision by keeping Hoover in the game? Could Grant Wilson have provided a spark? And how much is Hoover's health affecting the offense?

Jacob explains why he isn't calling for Hoover to be benched, but believes Mike Shanahan and the Indiana coaching staff must make significant adjustments.

PLUS: How confident should Indiana fans be in the Hoosiers' remaining schedule?

Indiana hosts Minnesota on Halloween, faces USC on November 14, travels to Washington and finishes the regular season against Purdue.

Could Indiana finish 11–1 and secure a College Football Playoff spot? What happens if the Hoosiers lose to USC? And can Bryant Haines' championship-caliber defense carry Indiana through the postseason if the offense doesn't improve?

  20. REACTION: Indiana SNEAKS By Michigan in OT, Josh Hoover Struggles AGAIN for the Hoosiers

    Episode 1585

    Show notes

Indiana Football SURVIVED Michigan in overtime, but Curt Cignetti and Josh Hoover have a BIG problem to solve!

The Indiana Hoosiers escaped the Big House with a 13–6 overtime victory over Michigan, despite another frustrating offensive performance. Josh Hoover finished 8-of-18 passing for just 81 yards and threw his first interception of the season.

After the game, Curt Cignetti acknowledged that Hoover wasn't 100% healthy. How much did his health affect Indiana's offense? And can the Hoosiers fix their quarterback problems before the College Football Playoff?

On this LIVE postgame edition of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins reacts to Indiana's dramatic overtime victory over Michigan and explains why the Hoosiers have serious offensive concerns despite getting the win.

    FIRST: Josh Hoover struggled again!

We break down Hoover's accuracy, decision-making and inability to consistently move the offense. Jacob also discusses Cignetti's postgame comments about Hoover's health and why Indiana needs to adjust its offensive approach rather than immediately bench its starting quarterback.

PLUS: Indiana's defense SAVED the day!

Bryant Haines' defense delivered another outstanding performance, holding Michigan to just 224 total yards and 57 rushing yards. Tobi Osunsanmi recorded two sacks and two tackles for loss, while Amari Ferrell and Indiana's secondary helped shut down Tommy Carr and the Wolverines.

Indiana's defense continues to look championship-caliber. Can Josh Hoover and the offense catch up?

THEN: What must Curt Cignetti and Mike Shanahan fix?

Jacob breaks down Indiana's running game, the need for a third reliable pass catcher behind Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh, the offensive play-calling, and why Indiana's upcoming matchup with USC could define its postseason future.

The Hoosiers won in Ann Arbor, but is this offense good enough to compete for a national championship?
