  2. POLLOCK vs CHESSUM: ULTIMATE FRENEMIES! 🤬 | Furlong Cited & England SNUBS

    Season 4, Episode 6

    Show notes

Fists nearly flying, handbags everywhere, alleged below-the-belt antics and some truly baffling international selections. Welcome back to Maul or Nothing! 🤬🏉

Henry Pollock and Ollie Chessum almost take their Leicester–Northampton rivalry into the changing rooms… only to find themselves breaking bread as England teammates the very next day. Rugby, ladies and gentlemen!

Meanwhile, Tadhg Furlong finds himself at the centre of a VERY serious controversy after being cited over an alleged groin grab on Munster's Gavin Coombes. The boys give their verdict.

Elsewhere, Ellis Genge and Ethan Roots get acquainted, Gloucester somehow survive three yellow cards to batter Bath, and Marcus Smith celebrates his 200th Harlequins appearance by running riot against Saracens — including an outrageous piece of pickpocketing at Max Malins' expense.

Christian Wade draws level with Chris Ashton's Premiership try-scoring record as Newcastle finally win, while Scotland's URC sides are running the show! Edinburgh are four from four and Glasgow stage a remarkable comeback from 17–0 down.

And then there's Borthwick… Joe Marchant back, Will Joseph in, but Fitz Harding and George Hendy NOWHERE TO BE SEEN?! Ryan has plenty to say about Scotland's selections, and we examine Ireland and Wales ahead of the Nations Championship.

  3. “EXETER DESERVED TO LOSE!” 🤬

    Season 4, Episode 5

    Show notes

🏆 HISTORY MADE… FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS! 😱

For the first time since the Champions Cup launched in 2014, just ONE Premiership club has won on the opening weekend! Eight English teams. ONE win. ONE draw. SIX defeats. And Ryan Wilson has absolutely LOST HIS MIND! 🤬🔥

The Champions Cup is back, the Premiership has taken an almighty European kicking, and the boys have got a LOT to unpack.

First up, Exeter against 14-man Toulouse. You’ve got an extra man for almost 65 minutes, you’re three points down, and you decide to kick for a DRAW?! 😱 Ryan comes out with both barrels blazing. EXETER DESERVED TO LOSE! And for once, can anyone actually argue with him?

Meanwhile, friend of the show George Hendy must surely be in the frame for England recognition, particularly after burning down former Lions winger Josh Adams! 🏃💨 Is Hendy simply an absolute freak?!

Saracens ship 45 points against Connacht, Bath get humbled by Montpellier, Bristol are battered by the Stormers and Glasgow are looking rather tasty. Just how far behind has English club rugby fallen?

And with Gloucester and Bordeaux serving up TEN tries but neither getting an attacking bonus point, what do we think of the new Champions Cup rules?!

⚔️ FASHION POLICE: Adam Hastings has reinvented himself as d’Artagnan. Is the swashbuckling Musketeer look magnificent? Do we not approve? Or do we DEFINITELY NOT APPROVE?! 🥸

🏝️ TENERIFE PRE-SEASON: WHAT REALLY HAPPENS ON TOUR…

Max takes us back to a particularly memorable pre-season in Tenerife, where Chris Hala’ufia decided to launch Matt Garvey into a swimming pool.

One problem. HE SLIGHTLY MISSED THE POOL. 💀

Garvey’s hip takes the punishment, and we’re left wondering how many suspiciously reported “training injuries” actually originated from hotel swimming pools, questionable decisions and large Tongan gentlemen.

From European humiliation to poolside carnage, questionable facial hair and Ryan Wilson’s spectacular refusal to sit on the fence, this is Maul or Nothing at its most gloriously unfiltered.

  4. Tom O’Flaherty, Saints v Bath 119-Point Madness & Barretts to Bristol?

    Season 4, Episode 4

    Show notes

Buy Two Barretts, Get One Free?! 😂 Tom O’Flaherty & Rugby Gone Mad

🏉 Bath score 48 points and STILL lose by 23. Somewhere, a defence coach is staring silently at a laptop.

Marc, Ryan Wilson and Max Lahiff unpack Northampton’s bonkers 71–48 win over Bath: 119 points, the second-highest scoring game in Premiership history and enough missed tackles to ruin several people’s Monday. Is this exactly what rugby needs, or has everyone collectively forgotten how to defend? 🤯

🐻 Max reflects on Bristol’s defeat to Saracens before the conversation takes a rather expensive turn. The boys get into the Barrett transfer rumours and ask the obvious question: if Bristol buy Scott and Jordie, does Beauden come free? Someone get Pat Lam a loyalty card.

🦈 Sale flyer TOM O’FLAHERTY joins us for a brilliant chat covering the Sharks’ new recruits, their hard-earned win over Quins and his untouched wondertry against Saracens. We also find out how he knows Max, revisit last season’s Sale–Bristol social and discuss the best friend he’s never met, Josh McKay. With Glasgow next up, there’s plenty for Ryan to get involved in…

🔥 Glasgow’s maul gets a proper examination, alongside the outrageous Lancaster–Dobie–McKay double-kick try. Genius improvisation or training-ground special? And is there a position Jamie Dobie CAN’T play?

Elsewhere, Edinburgh make it three from three, Leicester recover from 14–0 down, Munster surrender a 26–5 advantage and Stormers–Sharks delivers a ridiculous collection of rugby talent. There’s also the rest of the Prem and URC fallout, Christian Wade’s hat-trick and another emphatic Ryan endorsement of Jake Dalziel. Remember the name. 👀

🇦🇺 From beating the Springboks to conceding 50 against New Zealand: the Wallabies come crashing back down as the All Blacks keep the Bledisloe for a 24th consecutive year. Did we buy into the Aussie revival too quickly?

🇦🇷 And Shaun Edwards joins Argentina through the 2027 World Cup. England… missed a trick?

  5. THE GREAT BRITISH STAR OFF ⭐ LRZ vs POLLOCK

    Season 4, Episode 3

    Show notes

Louis Rees-Zammit vs Henry Pollock. Two of rugby’s biggest young superstars. Two enormous personalities. And now apparently… a celebration war. 😂

LRZ is absolutely FLYING for Bristol — so what has changed this season, why does he suddenly look so dangerous again, and what about that Pollock trolling?! 👀

Meanwhile, Pedro Rubiolo appears to have developed a genuine propensity for violence — including chasing kicks like a man personally offended by the existence of the opposition. Max approves. Obviously. 😂

Elsewhere in another completely normal episode of Maul or Nothing…

🔪 Has Aaron Wainwright accidentally entered his Jeffrey Dahmer era?

🍆 Naked Attraction comes up, which naturally leads to the far more important question: how much money would it actually take to get Max Lahiff to do a naked calendar?

🇦🇺 And Mark Nawaqanitawase signs off from the NRL in ridiculous fashion — TWO tries in the 2026 Grand Final as the Roosters come from 12–0 down to beat Newcastle 19–18. Now he’s heading back to union… and suddenly the Wallabies’ wing cupboard looks absolutely FILTHY.

    🏉 THE 2026/27 PREM

    🐻 Bristol v Northampton

LRZ vs Pollock brings the stardust, Bristol make another statement and Rubiolo is immense. Plus, what exactly has changed with the way the driving maul is being refereed?

    🦈 Saracens v Sale

Naughty, naughty Jacques Vermeulen… Sale somehow go down to THIRTEEN men and still leave StoneX with the win. And Nathan Jibulu is looking like an absurdly complete rugby player — sort the darts and how high is his ceiling?

    🔵 Bath 40–34 Exeter

Immanuel Feyi-Waboso looking borderline unplayable while the Bath pack starts purring.

    🍒 Gloucester 48–0 Harlequins

FORTY. EIGHT. NIL. 😳 Against Quins. Jac Morgan, Dewi Lake and the Welsh contingent are already being adopted by The Shed.

    🐯 Newcastle 19–24 Leicester

No win yet for the Red Bull revolution — but 10,210 packed into Kingston Park and Newcastle made Tigers seriously sweat.

    🌍 THE URC

🏰 Edinburgh are 2 from 2 after following up their Ulster win by beating the Stormers. Are Edinburgh quietly becoming… good?! They’ve even impressed their harshest critic: Ryan Wilson.

☘️ Ciarán Frawley leaves Leinster to become THE GUY at Connacht… and immediately starts doing The Guy things. Two tries against Benetton including the 77th-minute winner. Stuart Lancaster + Frawley could be a very tasty reunion.

🦈 Sharks 26–20 Leinster — the defending champions are 0–2. Yes, yes, young squad, South African tour, nobody burn down Dublin just yet… but it IS very funny.

🍺 Glasgow 33–33 Ulster — cards, momentum swings, both sides down to 13 at different stages and George Horne hits the post late on. Essentially a rugby match played after everyone involved had consumed six pints.

🔴 Munster 26–22 Bulls — another big early-season result at Thomond Park.

  6. SPRINGBOKS SLAIN…ft 🤯 Benhard Janse van Rensburg & Tom Jordan

    Season 4, Episode 2

    Show notes

The Wallabies finished with ELEVEN MEN and still beat the world champions. George Ford spent his afternoon with Bears charging down his channel. And we’ve got two of them in for questioning… 🐻😂

England’s Benhard Janse van Rensburg and Scotland’s Tom Jordan join Marc, Max and Ryan for a Maul or Nothing loaded with international tour tales, Bristol ambition and the sort of stories that probably shouldn’t leave the changing room.

🦶 BVR’s bare feet, his England summer and the family learning the national anthem.

🃏 Card sharks, room wrecking and the dangers of touring with professional rugby players.

✈️ TJ’s tour tales, plane stories and why George Furbank gets dragged into the Scotland conversation.

🇳🇿 Facing the All Blacks, the madness of Josh McKay and what actually helps when New Zealand are coming at you.

🐻 Bristol’s big ambitions, European away days and the all-important question: who gets first class to Cape Town?

    😂 Manus, pūkanas… and a haggis. Obviously.

Plus, a short, sharp blast through the weekend’s rugby: Australia’s amazing result versus the Springboks, the Prem and URC, and whether Bristol’s repeated visits to George Ford’s channel amounted to picking on him.

Saints come out firing with Archie McParland starting ahead of Alex Mitchell, that Carreras moment gives us vintage Brian O’Driscoll training-ground flashbacks, and we ask how often players produce THAT sort of filth when the cameras aren’t rolling. ✨

There’s also Will Stuart’s return and Max’s mate James Dun making the highlights for a little extracurricular push and shove. Lovely to see the dark arts getting airtime. 🤝😂

👇 Were the Wallabies brilliant, the Boks wasteful… or was that finish just completely unhinged? Tell us below.

  7. Top 4 or Total Disaster?

    Season 4, Episode 1

    Show notes

Everyone’s unbeaten. Everyone’s optimistic. And at least one of our top-four predictions is going to age like milk by September.

Max, Ryan and Marc look ahead to the 2026/27 season with their Premiership and URC top-four picks. Who’s challenging for silverware, who’s being wildly overhyped, and who’ll be calling it a “rebuilding year” before the clocks go back?

We catch up on what the boys have been up to over pre-season, who’s putting in the hard yards and who’s already having a rough time. Fresh starts, big ambitions and the annual pretence that everyone’s in the best shape of their life.

Plus, Finn Russell’s wedding and a three-tier cigarette display. Forget cutting the cake — who’s going outside with the centrepiece?

Big calls, questionable logic and predictions we’ll be deleting by Christmas.

England versus Argentina always delivers chaos — whether it’s football or rugby.

England win 31–24 in Santiago del Estero, but the real drama came in a furious finish. Did Bautista Delguy score the late try? Why isn’t Henry Pollock starting — and did he take the goading of Argentina too far?

Felipe Contepomi then accused England of showing a “lack of respect” after hearing their dressing-room celebrations during his post-match press conference.

Was he right, or had England earned the right to celebrate?

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

❓ Delguy’s late effort: try or no try?

    🪑 Why isn’t Pollock starting?

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    🇳🇿 NEW ZEALAND 40–21 IRELAND

How did Luke Jacobson’s shoulder-to-head contact on Josh van der Flier avoid being upgraded to red?

Dangerous head contact continues to produce wildly inconsistent outcomes.

If that isn’t upgraded, what exactly is the bunker there to upgrade?

Ireland also conceded 15 turnovers on a night when very little clicked.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 SCOTLAND 33–17 FIJI

Much squeakier than the scoreline suggests.

Fiji led 17–7 at half-time before Scotland’s bench changed the match and inspired 26 unanswered second-half points.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    🇿🇦 SOUTH AFRICA 43–0 WALES

    Another brutal demolition.

Four years ago, Wales travelled to South Africa, won a Test and nearly took the series. Now the Springboks are using the fixture to blood young players — and still winning comfortably.

South Africa have beaten Wales 116–0 across their last two meetings.

    🇿🇦 SOUTH AFRICA 45–21 ENGLAND 🏴

England were battered at Ellis Park.

Yes, they fought back brilliantly after a brutal opening quarter. Yes, there were moments of genuine promise.

But this was also England’s fifth consecutive Test defeat and the eighth game in a row in which they have received at least one yellow card.

So we ask the uncomfortable question…

Are England beginning to accept mediocrity?

If Italy, Argentina, Wales, Fiji, Australia or Scotland produced that performance against South Africa, would we call them plucky? Brave? Gallant? Would we praise the fightback and talk about a young team taking positives?

    Probably.

But what if it was New Zealand, France or Ireland?

Would they accept being comprehensively put away?

Steve Borthwick has a 56.5% win record across 46 Tests. At what point do “young England team”, “positives to take” and “building towards the World Cup” stop being enough?

Especially when the Springboks were without Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Franco Mostert, Lood de Jager, RG Snyman, Kwagga Smith and Frans Malherbe.

    A bad England performance?

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    🇦🇺 AUSTRALIA 31–33 IRELAND 🇮🇪

    An absolute HUMDINGER in Sydney.

Back and forth. Five tries apiece. Australia with a chance to win it at the death.

But Ireland — and Hugo Keenan in particular — find a way.

Ireland continue building serious depth while Australia provide even more evidence that…

    THE WALLABIES ARE BACK.

Carter Gordon, Dylan Pietsch and a wildly entertaining Australian side give Ireland everything they can handle.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    🇫🇯 FIJI 24–39 WALES 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The brutal efficiency of the driving maul versus the elegance, chaos and outrageous natural ability of Fiji.

  10. Saints & Winners: George Hendy on Northampton’s 2026 PREM Final Glory

    Season 3, Episode 37

    Show notes

George Hendy joins Maul or Nothing live from Ibiza after Northampton Saints’ 2026 PREM Rugby final win over Exeter Chiefs.

The matchwinner talks Saints celebrations, scoring the decisive tries, why this title feels different from two years ago, and the slightly chaotic aftermath of trying to serenade the Saints faithful on stage.

The boys also get stuck into the Henry Pollock Player of the Match debate, whether the stats really backed up the award, and why Northampton looked such worthy champions.

Elsewhere, Ryan recovers from the Dublin fiesta as the show breaks down Leinster’s 36-7 URC final win over the Bulls at Croke Park, Sam Prendergast’s performance, James Lowe’s fishy farewell, Joe McCarthy winding up Ryan, and whether another Bulls final collapse says anything about England vs South Africa.

Plus: Leo Cullen’s confirmed Leinster exit at the end of the 2026-27 season, Maro Itoje being rested, Jamie George captaining England, Noah Caluori’s call-up, Benhard Janse van Rensburg, and whether PREM Rugby moving play-offs to neutral venues from 2029-30 is genius or madness.

  11. 🔥 EXETER CRASH THE PARTY!

    Season 3, Episode 36

    Show notes

It is finals week on Maul or Nothing — and somehow Exeter Chiefs have smashed their way into the 2026 PREM Final.

After a ridiculous comeback against Bath, Rob Baxter’s Chiefs are back at Twickenham, Henry Slade is still absolutely ridiculous, the Exeter scrum is looking like it has snooker balls hidden in its socks, and Bath are left wondering how 41 phases, white-line fever and no Finn Russell magic ended their season.

Max Lahiff joins us after the Premiership awards and a stag do — which already sounds like a medical case study — while Ryan Wilson survives a full daddy day care weekend and returns to help break down one of the maddest play-off weekends in years.

We get stuck into Exeter’s 27-26 semi-final win over Bath, the Chiefs’ unreal play-off record, Stephen Varney’s impact, Santiago Carreras and the drop-goal debate, Bath’s final attacking passage, and whether Finn Russell’s injury ultimately cost them a place in the final.

Then it is Northampton Saints v Leicester Tigers: a proper Premiership classic. 76 points, 11 tries, Tom Litchfield’s hat-trick, George Furbank’s farewell fairytale, Henry Pollock carrying like a man possessed, Fin Smith pulling strings, and Rory Hutchinson still not getting nearly enough credit.

And then we look ahead to the big one: Northampton Saints v Exeter Chiefs in the 2026 PREM Final. Can anyone actually stop Saints? Or are Exeter about to turn the fairytale into a robbery?

Plus, we preview the URC Grand Final as Leinster face the Bulls again. The Bulls are in their fourth final in five years — but is this finally their time? And how much does the URC really matter to Leinster compared with the Champions Cup?

💪 We also review Bath’s hard-fought victory over Leicester Tigers, including Thomas du Toit’s hat-trick and the power game that continues to drive Bath towards silverware.

  13. THIS IS OUR HOUSE! 🇪🇺Europe vs South Africa 🇿🇦 URC Carnage & Max Launches Underhill

    Season 3, Episode 34

    Show notes

Bristol’s season is over, but not before Max Lahiff signed off Ashton Gate in style.

The Bears may have missed the Premiership semi-finals, but they’ve still got the West Country bragging rights — and after that result which shall not be mentioned — they bounced back in exactly the right way.

Max joins us fresh from Friday night after scoring the winning try on his 200th Premiership appearance. Remarkably, it was his 10th Premiership try — matching Ryan Wilson’s career tally of 10 in 222 appearances. We break down the game, the celebrations, becoming an accidental social media sensation, launching Sam Underhill into low earth orbit, and whether we’ve lost a listener in the process.

We also look back on an unforgettable weekend in Bilbao — the rugby, the food, the friends and the chaos — before reacting to the internet’s latest attempts to describe Max:

    • The Honey Badger born in the Cotswolds

    • Like Hugh Grant and The Rock had a baby

    • A shoo-in for a Bond villain

    • The Brian Blessed of rugby

    • And multiple comparisons to Lord Flashheart…

    Then it’s URC quarter-final time.

Ryan relives Glasgow’s hard-fought victory over Connacht in a bruising contest, with Kyle Steyn once again delivering when it mattered most.

We also hear from Dan Lancaster after helping Glasgow beat a side coached by his father, Stuart Lancaster. What did he know about the old man? Did he have access to the calls? And what’s it really like trying to knock your dad out of the URC?

We break down all the quarter-final action:

    • Bulls v Munster

    • Stormers v Cardiff

    • Leinster v Lions

Plus our semi-final predictions. Can either South African side stop what feels like an inevitable Glasgow v Leinster final?

We then turn our attention to the Premiership run-in:

    • Saints secure a home semi-final

    • Exeter damage Leicester’s top-two hopes while ending Bristol’s season

    • Saracens keep rolling — is this the start of Sarries 2.0 or simply a strong finish?

    • Newcastle’s end-of-season celebrations and whether they’re getting slightly carried away…

And with one round left, we preview two huge fixtures:

    • Bath v Leicester — potentially a semi-final dress rehearsal

    • Exeter v Saracens — effectively a win-and-you’re-in shootout

And what about Leinster? Four finals lost in five years. If it was painful before, was this 41-19 rout downright catastrophic for Leinster?

    Season 3, Episode 32

    Show notes

This week on Maul or Nothing, Max Lahiff relives the absolute carnage after Saints put Bristol through a woodchipper at Franklin’s Gardens. We ask the big questions:

👉 Is defending officially dead in the Premiership?

👉 Should the Prem introduce the Top 14-style “3 tries more” bonus point?

👉 Why are scores getting completely out of control?

👉 And did the referee REALLY stop the game to help Max find his tooth? 🦷😂

    PLUS:

🔥 Leicester Tigers keep the home semi race alive

🔥 Saracens suddenly charging into the playoffs

🔥 Owen Farrell’s accidental hooker cameo

🔥 England squad reaction — Bath stars DROPPED

    🔥 BVR’s first England call-up causes chaos

🔥 Ryan Wilson predicts the URC Top 8 EXACTLY 🤯

🔥 Glasgow finish TOP of the URC pile

    🔥 Cardiff storm through

🔥 The real story behind SRU frustrations for the final

    AND…

🏆 Who actually wins the Champions Cup from here?

This is a proper chaotic MON episode.
