    https://www.buzzsprout.com/2513648/fan_mail/new

In this special season finale of Meditations on Leadership, the roles are reversed.

After 54 episodes and more than 52 conversations, Don hands the microphone to his uncle and former guest, Dean Borgman, for a retrospective on the journey.

Together, they explore what surprised Don along the way, the themes that kept resurfacing, what he now sees differently about leadership, and the questions he is still carrying forward.

It’s less a look back at individual episodes and more a reflection on what a year of writing, listening, questioning, and conversation can teach us about leadership, self-awareness, letting go, and the inner work of becoming who we are.

    Season 1, Episode 54

    Show notes

    https://www.buzzsprout.com/2513648/fan_mail/new

How often do we mistake being busy for actually making progress?

In this episode of Meditations on Leadership, Don reflects on the difference between activity and meaningful movement, and on the ways busyness can quietly distract us from what matters most in our work, relationships, and lives.

He is joined by Emily Day, a physical therapist, former collegiate outdoor leader, and someone Don has known since she was 13 years old through Trekkers. Their conversation reflects on the young person he first met nearly three decades ago, the woman she has become, and what her journey has taught them both about growth, confidence, changing definitions of success, and recognizing real progress across the different chapters of a life.

Sometimes moving forward requires doing more.

And sometimes, it begins by becoming clear about what matters enough to do less.

  5. Aligned and Afraid (But Moving Anyway)

    Season 1, Episode 51

    Show notes

    https://www.buzzsprout.com/2513648/fan_mail/new

What if courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to keep moving while fear is still present?

In this episode of Meditations on Leadership, Don reflects on the moments when fear and self-doubt collide with a deeper sense of knowing that it is time to move.

He is joined by Bill Walch, whose career has spanned journalism, philanthropy, institutional leadership, global health, consulting, and nonprofit governance. Together, they explore where our ideas about courage come from, what courage asks of leaders, and how our understanding of it changes over a lifetime.

At the center is a simple question: when fear meets us at the edge of something important, will we let it make our lives smaller, or find the courage to step toward a life that can still expand?

    https://www.buzzsprout.com/2513648/fan_mail/new

In this episode, Don reflects on the hidden cost of becoming indispensable, not only the toll it can take on us, but the ways it can unintentionally limit the growth, confidence, and capacity of those around us.

He is joined by longtime friend Larry Bartlett, an engineer, architect, business founder, educator, mentor, and community leader whose life has been shaped by both professional accomplishment and a deep commitment to serving others.
