Mission 250 Podcast
The Mission 250 Podcast is a weekly podcast where hosts Denny, John, and TC are watching the Top 250 Movies of All Time, as ranked by IMDB. With each episode focusing on a single movie, and moving towards the #1 movie in reverse order, we aim to broaden the listeners viewing horizons (as well as our own), and give not only our thoughts/opinions, but also history, trivia, and insight on each film.
Also included are a ton of "bonus" episodes for films not on the list.
We can be reached at mission250podcast@gmail.com, and the full list can be found at mission250podcast.com.

Episode 464 - You Can See Everything
Show notes
This week, we hop off the horror movie train to see a documentary that has some of the best marketing and trailers of recent years. This film is raking it in at the box office despite its documentary premise and being 3 hours long, and it also has some of the best reviews of the year from both critics and audiences. This one has to be experienced. You Can See Everything (2026), directed by Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder.

Episode 463 - Let The Right One In
Show notes
This week, we continue with our scary movie month with a more modern classic that might have flown under some people's radars. This film is a vampire movie at its core, but the atmosphere is the real standout. There might not be a better film that depicts a snowy, freezing environment. Let The Right One In (2008), directed by Tomas Alfredson.

Episode 462 - The Evil Dead
Show notes
This week, we continue with our scary movie month with a classic we've referenced more times than we can count. Kick starting the careers of Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and even Joel Coen, this film is scrappy as hell, overly violent, intentially and unintentionally hilarious, and worthy of all the praise its received over the years. The Evil Dead (1981), directed by Sam Raimi.

Episode 457 - Miller's Crossing
Show notes
This week, we continue with our Coen Brothers kick. Their third film moves from the dark noir of Blood Simple and the Looney Tunes style live-action comedy of Raising Arisona to something in between. This film is the first of the Coen's career that melds genres in a way that few others can. Miller's Crossing (1990), directed by the Coen Brothers.

Episode 456 - Raising Arizona
Show notes
This week, we continue with our Coen Brothers kick. Their second film moves from the dark noir of Blood Simple to a Looney Tunes style live-action comedy. Some critics originally criticized this films over-the-top nature, but if you can get past the non-realism and complete genre change from the brothers, this is one hilarious ride. Also one of Nic Cages best, most reined in performance. Raising Arizona (1987), directed by the Coen Brothers.

Episode 455 - Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Show notes
This week, we're back in the theaters to see what is currently on track to be one of the biggest movies ever made. Breaking the previous opening weekend record, the 4th Tom Holland Spiderman (and 38th MCU film) spends time on practical effects and characters people have grown to love. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), directed by the Destin Daniel Cretton.

Episode 454 - Blood Simple
Show notes
This week, we are doing the Coen Brothers! We are starting at the very beginning and going through their filmography until we hit the films we've seen. We start with their debut film, which has actor Francis McDormand's first role, as well as Barry Sonnenfeld's first time behind the camera. Blood SImple (1984), directed by the Coen Brothers.

Episode 453 - O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Show notes
This week, we keep the Odyssey kick going with a more loose adaptation (if you can even call that). This film holds up, carried by beautiful cinematography, hilarious characters, and of course the sound track. O Brother, Where Art Thou (2000), directed by the Coen Brothers.

Episode 452 - The Odyssey
Show notes
This week, we watch what is certain to be the movie of the year, already on its way to a billion dollars at the box office only after a couple weeks. We would be surprised if this film didn't run away with everything at the awards season as well. Go now to see it in the theaters, if you can find tickets. The Odyssey (2026), directed by Christopher Nolan.

Episode 451 - The Sheep Detectives
Show notes
This week, we wanted to take a break from all of the serious movies we've been watching recently, and looked to a tale of intelligent sheep. This could be classified as a kids movie, but it might also be for those looking for a light watch. The Sheep Detectives (2025), directed by Kyle Balda.

Episode 450 - The Raid: Redemption
Show notes
This week, we dip into our picks for which movies "should be in the Top 250" movies. This movie is non-stop action, and contains some of the most impressive fight choreography we've ever seen. The Raid: Redemption (2011), directed by Gareth Evens.

Episode 449 - #62 - The Dark Knight Rises
Show notes
This week, we finish off Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. We found the plot and dialogue to be equally clunky and confusing but without any real standout performances or action sequences. Additionaly, this is some of the worst action editing we've seen. The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
-

Episode 448 - #4 - The Dark Knight
Show notes
This week, we head back to Gotham City to dissect Christopher Nolan's acclaimed superhero epic, The Dark Knight (2008). While we give massive props to Heath Ledger's legendary performance and the film's spectacular action set pieces, there's a lot to nitpick regarding its clunky dialogue and head-scratching plot logic.

Episode 447 - Disclosure Day
Show notes
This week, we head to the theater to check out the new movie by one of the greatest directors of all time, Spielberg. With all the hype surrounding the reviews on this one, we answer the question - does it come close to living up to the best in his filmography? No. No, it doesn't. Disclosure Day (2026), directed by Steven Spielberg.

Episode 446 - Kung Fu Panda
Show notes
This week, we needed a break from all of the horror movies of recent weeks, and we're going with comfort food ala John. This movie is a warm bowl of noodle soup, no special ingredients. Kung Fu Panda (2008), directed by John Stevenson & Mark Osborne.

Episode 445 - Backrooms
Show notes
This week, we're back to the theater to see another horror sensation. This (again) small budget movie from a (again) youtube creator is breaking A24 records left and right. Certainly a different vibe than its partner in horror box-office success, this one is more of a Lynchian mood-piece that a straight up horror. Backrooms (2025), directed by Kane Parsons.
