What Keeps Us Up at Night | Mission Focused Justice | Episode 8
Season 1, Episode 8
Show notes
In this episode, we explore what keeps us up at night as leaders doing impact work. Sometimes it’s the weight of the work, the decisions we carry, and the things we wish we could control. Other times, it’s the excitement of what’s possible and the dreams we’re working toward.
Leadership requires constant reflection, growth, and an honest look at ourselves. And sometimes, the most important thing we can do is pause long enough to reconnect with our purpose, our capacity, and the reasons we said yes to this work in the first place.
We also get vulnerable about a question many nonprofit leaders quietly wrestle with: Am I still the right person to lead this organization? Because what keeps us up at night isn't always a sign that something is wrong. Sometimes, it's a reminder of how deeply we care.

Collaboration & Competition | Mission Focused Justice | Episode 7
Season 1, Episode 7
Show notes
What does it take to build a culture where collaboration is the go-to, not the exception? In this episode, we explore how camaraderie and meaningful support grow when we find the right partners. By showing up authentically, building trust, truly knowing one another, and embracing vulnerability, we cultivate collaboration. We unpack how conflict and competition can fuel stronger collaboration, and why the opposite of collaboration isn’t competition or conflict; it’s inauthenticity and transactional relationships.

Burnout | Mission Focused Justice | Episode 6
Season 1, Episode 6
Show notes
In this episode, we talk about how to sit in the hard moments without getting swallowed by them, stay present when progress feels slow, and use collective care to keep going when the work takes a toll. We’ll also talk about what happens when our own burnout and bad moods start to skunk all over the team. Sharing how we can care for ourselves and each other without pretending the work isn’t hard.
Because sustainable impact isn’t about toughing it out alone. It’s about building a culture where we can sit beside each other in the hard moments, share the weight, and make space for everyone to get back up when they’re ready.

Conflict & Community | Mission Focused Justice | Episode 5
Season 1, Episode 5
Show notes
Conflict isn't inherently negative. It can create an opportunity for deeper collaboration. In this episode, we explore how leaders can wrap accountability in grace, using hard conversations not as a source of fear or frustration, but as an opportunity to lean in, invest in people, and build commitment.
Where there’s conflict, there’s an opportunity for collaboration and a solution. When we reframe conflict as simply a conversation, we can find the middle ground where compassion and accountability work together. After all, we’re all still rough drafts.
