Movie Marathon Podcast

Film History, Film Reviews, TV & Film

The Movie Marathon Podcast is a film podcast built around the binge. We marathon entire franchises and films from start to finish — one movie per episode — covering the production history, the casting, the performances, and what each film actually means. Our rewatches are tied to new releases and culturally relevant moments, so there's always a reason to be listening.

Whether you've seen the movie 30 times or you just came out of the theater, every episode is a deep dive. Every binge is intentional. And every opinion was formed by watching the movies before we turned on our mics. Welcome to the Binge Bros, let's marathon some movies.

New episodes every Tuesday.

    Episode 41

    Show notes

The Binge Bros continue their X-Men binge ahead of Avengers: Doomsday with X2: X-Men United, the 2003 sequel many still call the best X-Men movie ever made. 6. Digger — This Film Will Be A Classic

    Episode 36

    Show notes

    We dug Digger. A lot.

Alejandro González Iñárritu's most ambitious film yet stars Tom Cruise in a fully unrecognizable performance as oil tycoon Digger Rockwell — a Les Grossman with the weight of the world on his shoulders. And then about 30 minutes in, the movie does something you don't see coming. And then does it again. The Binge Bros dig into the double twist, the 10-minute one-take monologue already in the Oscar conversation, Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed and John Goodman at their best, and why critics got this one completely wrong. Full spoilers.

    Episode 33

    Show notes

The Binge Bros revisit Weapons — the 2025 horror film from Zach Cregger that we saw on opening night together, which sparked a parking lot conversation that became the genesis of this podcast. A year later, ahead of Cregger's Resident Evil, we go deeper on the grief that drove the screenplay, how Cregger wrote sentence by sentence after losing his best friend and Whitest Kids U' Know co-founder Trevor Moore in 2021, why the Rashomon structure was the only way to pull off the Gladys reveal, and whether Aunt Gladys is a witch or something closer to a parasite. Plus: the Gladys prequel situation, who deserves their own chapter, and what we expect from Cregger's Resident Evil.

Bissinger's book bounced around Universal for 14 years, why Peter Berg got the job (he and Bissinger also happen to be second cousins), why he shot football like a combat sport, and the deal Berg made with Odessa to film on location. Plus: the Astrodome final game, how the film softened the book's racial themes to get access, and the question the film keeps asking — is the town the hero or the villain?

    Show notes

Football season is here and you can do it with Adam Sandler's 1998 classic The Waterboy. In this episode, the Binge Bros break down the full production story — the SNL Canteen Boy sketch that inspired Bobby Boucher, how Tim Herlihy intentionally flipped the Happy Gilmore formula, and director Frank Coraci playing Bobby's dad Roberto. Plus our Farmer Fran favorite lines, which NFL team would draft Bobby Boucher today, and why a 32% on Rotten Tomatoes for this movie is an absolute travesty.
