MAN CITY GUILTY: Sam Allardyce on ‘SHAM’ Contracts & Expected Punishment
Show notes
Manchester City have been found guilty of serious breaches of Premier League financial rules — and Sam Allardyce has his say on what happens next.
On this episode of No Tippy Tappy Football, Sam reacts to the independent commission’s findings covering nine seasons between 2009/10 and 2017/18, including the use of “sham” commercial arrangements which the commission said artificially inflated Manchester City’s revenue and reduced reported costs by more than £900 million. City deny wrongdoing and intend to appeal the findings.
Sam discusses just how serious the situation is, whether Manchester City can escape the consequences, what punishment they could face and whether their trophies should be taken away.
We also debate where Manchester City’s situation sits alongside previous football scandals, including Juventus and Southampton, whether City fans should have sympathy, whether the club could still be in the Premier League next season and, most importantly, just how far this punishment could go.
Could Manchester City end up outside the Premier League? Could the current squad stay together? And would Sam Allardyce really consider taking the job if City were playing in League Two?
Then we turn our attention to England.
Sam and Will review England’s games against Spain and Czechia, discuss Trent Alexander-Arnold’s return to the squad, Anthony Gordon’s comments about his footballing IQ and what Thomas Tuchel needs to achieve to be considered a success with England.
Sam also explains whether he believes Tuchel can be the man to finally deliver success with England.

Season 6, Episode 2
Show notes
The World Cup is in full swing, and there’s plenty to unpack this week.
With Natalie away covering Scotland, Simon Crabtree steps in as host alongside Sam and former England defender Phil Thompson as they break down the biggest talking points from the tournament so far and look ahead to England’s opening clash with Croatia.
The team begin by discussing Brazil’s victory over Morocco, their chances of lifting the trophy, and David Ornstein’s comments on Casemiro.
They then turn their attention to England vs Croatia, analysing the leaked England XI, debating potential changes Thomas Tuchel could make, and discussing whether Jude Bellingham deserves a place in the starting lineup.
There’s also a discussion around Scotland’s start to their campaign, how far they can go in the competition, and Roy Keane’s explosive and 'harsh' remarks about John McGinn.
To round things off, the panel assess the job Graham Potter has done with Sweden, react to Jürgen Klopp’s damning comments on the drinks breaks, and answer the question every England fan wants to know: is football finally coming home?
