    Closer Than Last Time
Korban means closeness β€” tonight's prayer should bring us closer than this morning's, just as Sarah lit her candles each week with a deeper connection than the last.

    Closer Than Before
When someone who hurt you asks forgiveness, the goal isn't just to make up β€” it's to come out even closer than before, like a rope retied with a double knot.

  6. How Can I Tell My Child That A Mitzvah Matters?

    Show notes

We live with our families in a country that allows us to learn Torah and serve Hashem in affluence β€” unlike our grandparents and great-grandparents. How do we convey to our children that Judaism is not just a cultural thing, but something our whole lives revolve around, something we would give up our lives for? This week's Torah tells of Avraham ready to offer Yitzchak as a sacrifice, and Yitzchak ready to go with his father β€” right after it tells of Avraham's generosity: his eshel, where strangers ate, drank and slept, given not just their critical needs but comfort, abundance and pleasure. Because Yitzchak grew up in a home of incredible devotion to kindness, beyond logic and reason, he knew what absolute devotion to Hashem means.
