Melville at the Movies: In the Heart of the Sea - Preview
Season 1, Episode 22
Show notes
Welcome to PequodPod! The podcast on the wonder-world of Herman Melville.
Here is a free preview of our second Melville at the Movies episode. In this episode, Tristan, Meg, and Jonny discuss Ron Howard's 2015 movie, "In the Heart of the Sea," based on the true narrative of the sinking of the whaleship Essex.
The conversation moves along more dramatically than a CGI whale as we talk truth claims, narrative emphases, and questionable accents, as well as the star-studded cast of actors in this film, which includes Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, and a wee-little Tom Holland.
We also debate the subject of who should play Herman Melville in the future PequodPod-produced, 3-hour gay biopic before coming to THE DEFINITIVE CONCLUSION.
