Perfect Organism: The Alien Saga Podcast

Patrick and Jaime record a short video news update covering the very confusing news coming out of 20th Century Studios. From Brian Duffield's scribe duties on what is presumed to be the sequel to Alien: Romulus to the announcement of Aaron Guzikowski's penning of a final prequel film in Ridley Scott's series, we talk about all of it. Enjoy.

Aliens is often cited as a sort of cinematic miracle: a sequel that lives up to (and, to some, even surpasses) the original; a film that takes chances with sacred source material and succeeds with hardcore fans; and an artistic statement that says important things about the human condition while still having loads of mass-audience appeal.

Will all that being said: could a film like Aliens be made in 2026? Join the PO Crew for a big ol' roundtable as they discuss!

In this episode, Patrick and Jaime discuss whether or not David Fincher's traumatic labor of love was ultimately a mistake or good for the franchise as a whole. We talk about the state of the IP in the shadow of Alien 3 and how it has affected every entry after it. This was a great discussion and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed talking about it.

In this episode, Jaime, Patrick and Andie are joined by friend and former contributing co-host Maj to talk about the incredible sound design featured in Aliens. From the opening of the Narcissus, to the clicking of Burke's plastic business card, we explore the sounds that make the film, some of the processes that went into producing those sounds and more.

This episode felt like a party for all involved. It became apparent that Alien is filled with as many feel-good sound effects as it is amazing characters and we dive into as many as we were able to.

We hope you enjoy.

Patrick, Jaime, Micah and Kyle get together to discuss everything that's been going on in with the ALIEN IP since the release of very successful, ALIEN: Romulus. From Fede Alvarez' departure to Ridley Scott's recent statements, we leave no stone unturned as we go through the order of events which began in late quarter, 2024. This was a great conversation full of speculation, frustration and at the end, some optimism for the future. We hope you enjoy!

Ross (DeadDark) and Jaime were invited by Creative Assembly to attend an Alien: Isolation 2 gameplay and panel via FrightFest this past Sunday in London. From hands on with Isolation 2's new character Blake, to speaking with a few of the devs from Creative Assembly, this was an immersive and fun experience that we can't wait to share with you.

It's been awhile since we've formally done an episode on Alien: Earth. In today's show, the PO Team gathers to revisit Season One; they also analyze the casting/news around Season Two, discussing their hopes (and fears) in some detail.

They also talk about the current state (or non-state?) of the sequel to Alien: Romulus. Is anything happening? If so, what could it be?

In this episode, a handful of us at Perfect Organism discuss the black goo, or pathogen that was introduced into the saga with Prometheus.

Just what is the black goo? Is it effective? Is it lazy? We come up with our answers to some of these questions as we investigate how useful or not it is for the lifecycle. This is the first episode we've ever devoted to the pathogen. It was an in-depth conversations, as so many of our discussions are. We hope you enjoy.

This episode is of course ad-free specifically for our patrons.

Part of the enduring appeal of Aliens is its complexity. For all its iconic dialogue and huge set pieces, Aliens is also a surprisingly nuanced and layered look at human morality.

Would "dusting" Burke have been the morally right thing to do? Was Gorman a bad person, or just an incompetent one? Is an android's existence worth less than a human's?

Join the whole team on this big ol' roundtable as they find their way through these (and many more!) moral quandaries.

Alien: Isolation 2's show-stopping spotlight at Summer Games Fest 2026 has fandom ablaze. In today's very special episode, Jaime and Patrick speak with journalist (and Patron!) Peter Hoskin, who was able to play twenty minutes of the game in Los Angeles this week.

This episode contains details about the setting, the protagonist, the gameplay, and more. It's extraordinary access, and we're so grateful to Peter for taking us into the (already terrifying) world of Alien: Isolation 2!

For many of us in fandom, collecting is more than a hobby—it's a ritual, a chance to stay connected with these films that have been so central to our lives.

Our friend Jeremy Todd (of Epic Film Guys Podcast, which you should absolutely listen to) is one of the most passionate collectors we know. In today's episode, Jaime and Patrick chat with Jeremy about their respective collections, the stories behind them, and the white whales they've been searching for.

This was a fun one!!

As we approach the 40th anniversary of James Cameron's seminal film, Aliens, the Perfect Organism Podcast Strategy Team sat down to record a kick off episode.

What we all agree on is that Aliens feels like home. It's the sequel that made the series into what it is today. Aliens endures because the characters endure. That's a testament to James Cameron's writing.

As amazing as Aliens is, did it set up the rest of the series for failure? Can lightning-in-a-bottle happen again? If yes, how does it? We discuss these questions and more.

As usual this was a hell of a fun time for all involved.
