Cooper Flagg just DESTROYED the Oklahoma City Thunder. Are we watching the NBA's next superstar emerge? After putting up 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a blowout win, Flagg has the Dallas Mavericks looking even more dangerous than expected. Wes Goldberg and Mike Shearer of Basketball Poetry react to Flagg's breakout, AJ Dybantsa's debut, the Miami Heat's first win and the latest Warriors-Timberwolves matchup.

Then it's time for GOOD TAKES! Mike makes the case that the Houston Rockets should now be considered favorites in the Western Conference. Has Oklahoma City's injury crisis opened the door for Kevin Durant and Houston? Wes argues that the Detroit Pistons are proving something important about team-building: Sometimes the best offseason move is simply getting better with the players you already have.

Plus, Portland's surprising roster-building strategy. Did the Trail Blazers discover a smarter way to build a contender by prioritizing value over star power?

One week into the NBA season, is the championship picture already changing? The Oklahoma City Thunder are dealing with devastating injuries, the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs have raised early questions, and the Miami Heat and New York Knicks can't buy a win.

Wes Goldberg welcomes Dan Favale of Hardwood Knocks for a one-week NBA Stock Watch, separating legitimate concerns from early-season overreactions.

Can the Thunder survive their injury crisis? What's going wrong with Nikola Jokic's Nuggets and Victor Wembanyama's Spurs? And are the Houston Rockets suddenly in position to take advantage of a wide-open Western Conference?

Plus, is Bam Adebayo getting too much blame for Miami's 0-4 start? Should the defending champion Knicks be worried? Are the Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies trending up?

Wes and Dan also discuss Cooper Flagg, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the teams whose early performances could reshape the playoff picture.

Which NBA underdog should you believe in for the 2026-27 season? Forget the championship favorites. On Good Take, we're adopting ONE overlooked NBA team and riding with them all season long.

Wes Goldberg and Mike Shearer of Basketball Poetry introduce the Good Take Team of the Season, a new tradition where they nominate, debate and ultimately choose a team that isn't considered a contender but has a realistic shot at winning 40 games.

Could Cooper Flagg and a healthy Kyrie Irving lead the Dallas Mavericks back to relevance? Are the Charlotte Hornets better positioned to win without LaMelo Ball? Can Cameron Boozer, Zach Edey and Ty Jerome make the Memphis Grizzlies a surprise playoff team? Plus, Mike makes the case for the Phoenix Suns, and the Utah Jazz enter the conversation. The guys weigh each team's upside, weaknesses and entertainment value before making their official selection — a team they'll follow throughout the season.
