10-30-26 Part One - A Good GDP Report
Show notes
In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, we begin with positive news. The U.S. economy grew at a robust 3.4% last quarter, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Thursday. But another report showed inflation worsened last month, and both reports add fuel to the possibility of another Federal Reserve interest rate hike this year. Third-quarter gross domestic product rose 3.4% on an annualized basis, beating expectations and the 2.5% and 2.2% growth recorded in the first and second quarters, respectively. This would mark the largest GDP growth in a year, but it’s also subject to revisions. The figure released by the government was an “advance” estimate of GDP, with two more updates scheduled between now and late December.

Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, told Fox News that Democrats will do "anything" to gain power while addressing reports that the campaign of his Democratic challenger Mary Peltola secretly participated in a months-long process to recruit people with his name to run in the Alaska U.S. Senate race. The New York Times reported Wednesday that Peltola’s campaign, as well as senior aides at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, carried out the alleged election scheme in hopes that voters would be confused by two Dan Sullivans and therefore draw support from the incumbent Republican senator. Show notes
In part one of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, Marconi award winning talk show host Dan Mandis fills in for the guys this week and we begin tonight with a political ad that hits below the belt. Vice President JD Vance, during a rally in Cincinnati on Wednesday, praised Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy for having the "audacity" to cut a controversial ad featuring his Democratic opponent Amy Acton's estranged mother calling her daughter a "liar" -- a move that has sparked bipartisan backlash. The ad, which circulated on social media late Monday, shows Acton's long-estranged mother, Donna Arthur, saying that she loves her daughter but that "Amy has a serious problem" and has lied about her past and her struggles growing up. The ad came nearly two weeks out from the high-stakes midterm elections where Ohio is home to not only a gubernatorial race, but also key Senate and House races that could determine the balance of power in Congress.
Also Rep. Ilhan Omar dismissed longstanding allegations that she married her brother for immigration purposes as "insane" during a Wednesday interview, while saying she was unaware of any familial relationship with her former husband. "Not to my knowledge," Omar told MS NOW's Chris Hayes when asked whether there was any "weird kernel of truth" to allegations involving her ex-husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.
