  1. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992) | Pinhead Has Big Plans for the Planet

    Episode 202

    Show notes

They might not get talked about as much as other iconic horror franchises, but the first three Hellraiser movies are all fantastic. And in Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, Pinhead gets restless in Hell and decides he'd like to wreak some havoc on Earth, untethered by the laws governing him in the underworld. Come for another great Doug Bradley performance, stay for a new cast of Cenobites (and dodge those killer CDs).

  2. Bats (1999) | A '90s Creature Feature for All the Chiroptophobes Out There

    Episode 201

    Show notes

We love our '90s creature features here on the show, and while 1999's Bats delivers on some pretty gnarly-looking bats, it lacks in most other areas that would make it a horror classic. Still, this is absolutely worth checking out if for no other reason than to marvel at the fact that this entire movie — from finished script to its theatrical release — was made in just over five months.

  3. Child's Play 3 (1991) Review | What We Love About the Third Chucky Movie

    Episode 200

    Show notes

The Child's Play franchise is fun all the way through, but in the third installment, that's where the movies really leaned into Chucky being the main character, and it works so well. Let's discuss what our favorite homicidal doll gets into when he heads off to military school!

  4. The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998) | Mulder and Scully's Thrilling Big-Screen Debut

    Episode 199

    Show notes

In the 1990s, a horned-up nation watched with bated breath as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully made their big-screen debut, the possibility of these two finally kissing hanging heavy in the air. It wouldn't come to pass in this one, but 1998's X-Files: Fight the Future is a great sci-fi thriller that deftly bridges the divide between hardcore fans of the show and its extensive mythology and those who have never seen an episode.

  5. Dick Tracy (1990) | Warren Beatty's Pop Art Masterpiece (Also, Dick Tracy Should Be in Mortal Kombat)

    Episode 198

    Show notes

Dick Tracy is Warren Beatty's lifelong obsession, and though he maintains a death grip on the rights to the character to this day, he did give us one of the most visually striking comic-book movies ever made. Though it feels like this 1990 film has faded somewhat into obscurity, it remains full of bold choices, fantastic design, and some of your favorite actors of the time doing the craziest things. What's not to like?

  6. How Does Aunt Meg's Food Look So Good in Twister? | An Interview with Production Designer Patrick Sullivan

    Episode 197

    Show notes

In this episode, we sit down with production designer Patrick Sullivan, who has had an incredible 30-year career in the industry, working on big budget blockbusters, Oscar-winning films, and everything in between. We talk to him about his career, but perhaps most importantly, he was a set designer on 'Twister' and we put him in the hot seat, grilling him on just how in the world the food looks so good during that scene at Aunt Meg's table. Have you been chasing a steak that looked as good as the ones in this movie your whole life like we have?

  7. The Pagemaster (1994) | Macaulay Culkin's Animated '90s Adventure

    Episode 196

    Show notes

Forgive me for being one of those "back in my days" guys, but back in my day, we kids freaking loved to read. Macaulay Culkin's 'The Pagemaster' (1994) feels like the culmination of a generation's obsession with reading and disappearing into our own imaginations, something that now feels like a lost art.

The Great Volcano Movie War of 1997 brought us both Volcano (obviously), which we've covered before, and Dante's Peak, starring Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton and, if you ask us, is the superior winner of this studio battle. Come find out way we feel that way in our latest episode!

  10. Pretty Woman (1990) | The Movie That Made Julia Roberts a Star

    Episode 193

    Episode 192

    Show notes

There are plenty of movies out there that make you think, "This was an Oscar winner?" Not to take anything away from 'As Good as It Gets,' but hindsight does make you wonder why exactly voters were so enamored with this one. That being said, there's still a lot to like about this Jack Nicholson/Helen Hunt romantic comedy, and we're going to talk about it. Episode 192

    Show notes

The true story that 1993's 'Fire in the Sky' is based on is perhaps even more compelling for its strange twists and turns that last to this day, but as far as the movie goes, it has one of the most harrowing, unsettling alien abduction scenes ever made. 20. 184. Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)

    Episode 184

    Show notes

Okay, we wouldn't necessarily call this movie "great," because it makes a ton of unforced errors. But there's still a lot to like here, including one of the most incredible climactic scenes ever put on film. Keanu Reeves was probably right to pass on this one (and Sandra Bullock basically had to do this), but 'Speed 2' is a fascinating film - and occasionally pretty solid. Let's look back at one of the most maligned sequels of all time, and when you're done, be sure to follow us on social @revengeof90spod and Substack at https://revengeofthe90s.substack.com/.
