Halloween Costumes, Candy Rankings, And Spooky Season Debates
Season 6, Episode 319
Show notes
Halloween brings out everybody’s strongest opinions, so we pulled up with a full panel and let it fly. I’m Mike Bono, and Rusty, JJ, and Mister join me for our annual Halloween roundtable, starting with the kind of ridiculous warm-up questions that instantly turn into real debate. Then we get into costumes, including Rusty’s full Guy Fieri setup, vampire-era throwbacks, and my plan to go Doctor Strange for a work costume contest because I’m not shaving my beard for anybody.
From there, we go deep on Halloween food and drinks: pumpkin roll with cream cheese filling, warm apple cider with bourbon, candy corn, and the family “dirt dessert” that tastes way better than it sounds. We also settle the most important Halloween ranking of all: the best Halloween candy. Reese’s cups get a lot of love, Snickers stays solid, and Sour Patch Kids take some heat, especially for anyone whose stomach is not built like it was at 15. If you’re building a trick-or-treat bowl, planning a Halloween party menu, or just want a hit of spooky season nostalgia, this part delivers.
We keep it moving with the big seasonal debates: whether it’s always okay to grill on Halloween weekend, whether rain or snow is worse for trick-or-treat, and whether carving pumpkins is overrated or underrated. Then we draft Halloween movies and horror icons, giving Michael Myers his flowers while we argue over Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas. We wrap with the villains that actually scared us as kids, plus what we’re wearing this year.
If you laugh, share it with a friend, subscribe for more Ride Home Rants, and leave a quick rating or review so more people can find the show. What’s your uncontested number one Halloween candy?

Why Brewers Vs Rays Could Be The World Series Nobody Saw Coming
Season 6, Episode 318
Show notes
A Brewers vs Rays World Series for a first-time championship sounds like a baseball purist’s dream, but it also raises a real question: how do teams without constant hype keep ending up on the biggest stage? We sit down with TJ Lutt and Antoni for a fast, opinionated World Series preview that mixes hard baseball takes with the kind of fan debates you only have with people who actually watch the sport.
We start with our series picks and why all roads keep pointing to Brewers in six, then get into the stuff casual previews skip: what “home field advantage” really means in Milwaukee vs Tampa Bay, how stadium location and fan investment show up on TV, and whether a former coach should get credit when a new staff finishes the job. From there, we dig into Kevin Cash’s reputation and why managing in the AL East changes how you judge wins, rosters, and postseason consistency.
Then we go broader on modern MLB strategy. Domes vs cold-weather October baseball, starter trust vs quick hooks, and the big argument for the pitch clock era: if you can only pick one, do you want excellent pitching or powerful hitting? We wrap with the single factor fans should watch for most, plus a sneaky edge that can swing a tight series, travel and time zone changes that mess with routines late at night.
If you’re into the MLB postseason, World Series matchups, manager strategy, and the little details that decide rings, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a baseball friend, and leave a review with your pick: Brewers in six or Rays in a shocker?

NBA Season Forecast
Season 6, Episode 317
Show notes
The NBA season is almost here, and we’re not easing into it. We’re going straight to the arguments that every fan ends up having anyway: who are the best three NBA players right now, what “face of the league” really means, and which teams are actually built to survive a playoff series when everything tightens up.
I’m joined by TJ, Mister Askew and Coach Mike for our annual NBA preview roundtable. We hit the East hard, starting with how far the Knicks can realistically go and why big-man play and defensive edge still decide postseason outcomes. Then we get into the Philadelphia 76ers superteam question, including whether Nick Nurse should be on the hot seat if things don’t click and why chemistry and role acceptance matter more than a starting five that looks perfect on paper.
We also dig into the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kenny Atkinson’s pressure to finally translate regular-season success into playoff wins, and what counts as “progress” versus “embarrassment.” From there, we switch gears into the fun stuff: the best NBA fans debate (MSG, OKC, Toronto, Minnesota and more), whether the NBA should stay committed to Wembanyama as its marquee star, and how Miami’s playoff equation changes with Giannis in the mix.
We finish with MVP picks and full Finals predictions, so you can bookmark the receipts now and brag later. If you like NBA predictions, MVP odds talk, Finals matchup debate, and honest arguments from real hoops fans, hit play, then subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review with your own Finals pick.

We Argue About Which Rambo Film Holds Up
Season 6, Episode 316
Show notes
John Rambo doesn’t just survive movies, he survives arguments. We sit down for a loud, honest roundtable on the full Rambo film series and get into the questions action fans actually care about: which movie is the best, which sequel is the weakest, and what moments still hit after all these years. Fiddy is joined by D Frank, Mister Askew and Lando, and we waste no time turning personal nostalgia into hot takes.
We run through the five films from First Blood all the way to Rambo: Last Blood, then dig into why different entries land differently depending on what you want from an action movie franchise: grounded tension, jungle warfare, brutal modern violence, or pure 80s spectacle. The talk gets surprisingly thoughtful when we bring up Rambo III and how its Afghanistan storyline reads now, plus the behind-the-scenes truth that First Blood originally had an ending where Rambo dies.
Then we go full “bar debate” mode: Is Rambo unbeatable. Who wins in a jungle showdown with Predator, the Terminator, and Mortal Kombat’s Scorpion. And where does Stallone’s Rambo rank next to Rocky and The Expendables when you judge them by consistency and rewatch value. We wrap with best villain picks, best action sequences, and our first reactions to a rumored 2027 Rambo prequel that would try to recast an iconic role.
If you ride with Rambo, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review so more action fans can find us.

Theme Park Truths
Season 6, Episode 315
Show notes
Theme parks bring out the best opinions because everyone remembers their first big coaster, their worst line, and the one food bill that made them pause. We sit down with Wendy, TJ, and Rudy to talk amusement parks the way people actually experience them: what’s worth the money, what’s secretly overrated, and what you should do differently next time you plan a trip.
We start with a quick round of favorites, then jump into a real theme park roll call spanning Cedar Point, Kennywood, Kings Island, Waldameer, Disney parks, and more. Cedar Point becomes the measuring stick, and we get specific about why it can feel underrated when you factor in variety, season passes, meal plans, and the simple joy of popping in for a few rides instead of forcing a full-day marathon. We also get into fast pass strategy and that unmistakable feeling of walking past a long line when you’ve planned ahead.
From there it turns into the stuff you can’t get from a brochure: water park takes, indoor park “gross” factor, a Kalahari story that includes a surprise $56.75 swim-up bar tab, and what it’s like when a slide knocks your confidence sideways. We wrap with practical trip timing, why midweek wins, why night rides feel totally different, how Halloween events change the vibe, and what age kids are actually ready for serious thrill rides.
If you like the show, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a rating or review. What’s the most overrated theme park tip you’ve ever heard?

Fall Wins Because The Little Traditions Matter
Season 6, Episode 314
Show notes
Fall brings out everyone’s strongest opinions, and we lean all the way into it. We start with the important questions that somehow reveal everything about a person: pens or pencils, and beer from a bottle or a can. Then we get to the real mission, settling the annual debate about where fall belongs in the season rankings and why that first run of crisp mornings, flannels, boots, and 55 degree air feels like a reset for your brain.
From there, we go practical. We talk family-friendly fall activities that actually work with little kids and toddlers: trunk-or-treats, parks, being outside without melting, and those classic Friday night football vibes. We also trade fall travel recommendations and local day trips, including Lake Erie wineries in Ohio, farm spots for apple picking and corn mazes, haunted houses, and a must-see outdoor hike at Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania when the leaves hit peak color.
We wrap it up with the stuff that makes autumn taste and look the way it should: comfort food, hot apple cider, wings for football season, pies, coffee, and the ongoing struggle of leaf raking. We also share decorating rules, including a simple pumpkin “cheat code” that helps you transition from Halloween to November without buying new decor. Finally, we rank five fall foods and drinks and yes, candy corn takes some heat.
Subscribe to Ride Home Rants, share this with your favorite fall person, and leave a review if you laughed. What’s your #1 fall tradition, and what’s your candy corn verdict?

Inside The Life Of A University Admissions Counselor
Season 6, Episode 213
Show notes
You can learn a lot about higher education by listening to the people who live the college admissions grind every week. I sit down with Madison Federman, an undergraduate admissions counselor at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, to talk about what the job really looks like when “every day is different” isn’t a slogan, it’s the schedule. We get into travel season planning, visiting high schools, working college fairs, running info sessions, and how admissions teams balance recruiting, student support, and nonstop logistics.
Madison also shares what it takes to stay human on the road. We talk hotel life, finding friendly faces in different cities, and the small habits that keep travel from draining you. From there, we go off the beaten path into Cleveland and Lakewood favorites, what it means to be an introvert in a public-facing career, and the underrated joy of quiet downtime with your partner.
Then the personal stories hit: wedding planning pressure, big Italian family traditions around holidays and homemade sauce, and the exact moment Madison became a lifelong Swiftie. We wrap with a clear look at why BW can be such a strong fit, especially for students who want a small-school feel with big-city Cleveland internships and career access.
If you enjoy candid conversations about college admissions, campus culture, and real-life career paths, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.

NFL Season Preview With MVP Picks And Super Bowl Calls
Season 6, Episode 312
Show notes
The NFL season is back, and we’re doing what fans actually do best: making bold predictions and daring each other to call them ridiculous. I’m joined by our yearly roundtable Mike, Tony Bogan, Bill Stoy, and legendary coach Hal Mumme for a fast-moving NFL season preview built around real questions: who wins the AFC North, who takes home MVP, and which teams are about to flip the league on its head.
We start in the AFC North where coaching changes and roster volatility make the division feel like a coin toss, then we lock in MVP picks from safe favorites to true long shots. From there, we go all-in on Super Bowl predictions across both conferences, including why the Buffalo Bills keep showing up in our bracket and what it would take for a rising team like the Houston Texans to break through. If you’re searching for NFL predictions, Super Bowl picks, MVP odds talk, and honest fan logic about what wins in January, this is the lane.
Coaching and quarterback decisions drive the back half: Buffalo moving on from Sean McDermott to Joe Brady, the New York Jets and the Aaron Glenn pressure cooker, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing the Baker Mayfield long-term contract question. We also size up the Giants vs Lions outlook and finish with under-the-radar teams that could make the playoffs and annoy everyone.
If you like this kind of NFL season preview, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review with your MVP and Super Bowl picks so we can argue about them all year.

From MySpace To iPhone The Decade That Rewired Life
Season 6, Episode 311
Show notes
MySpace made you pick a top eight and live with the consequences, AIM away messages were basically therapy, and if you missed one turn on your MapQuest printout your whole night was over. We’re throwing it back to the early 2000s with a full nostalgia panel: me, Mike Bono, with Tony, D Frank, and Mister, digging into the decade that flipped the world from analog to digital in real time.
We talk about where we were when the 2000s started, what it felt like to remember pre 9/11 and then adjust to everything after, and how fast tech changed our day-to-day lives. Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter show up mid-decade, but the real heartbeat is MySpace, AOL Instant Messenger, and that early internet feeling of discovery. We also relive the price-per-text era, pagers and Nextel chirps, the indestructible Nokia brick, and how wild it is that the iPhone doesn’t arrive until 2007.
Then we run the whole 2000s pop culture gauntlet: favorite music and artists, the baggy jeans and Timberlands era, classic TV from Sopranos Sundays to The Office, and why 2000s comedy movies felt like the last time the whole theater laughed together. We close with the bigger question: did we trade something real when social life moved onto our phones?
If you’re into 2000s nostalgia, pop culture history, and the analog-to-digital transition, hit play, subscribe, and share this with someone who still remembers Snake and TRL. What’s the one 2000s thing you’d bring back tomorrow?

The Real Joy Of County Fairs From Food To Community
Season 6, Episode 310
Show notes
County fairs are supposed to be simple, so why do they spark such strong opinions? We jump into a fast, funny roundtable on everything that makes a county fair worth the heat, the crowds, and the inevitable hit to your wallet. Joined by Mister (the vampire coach) and TJ, we trade personal fair memories from Ohio and beyond, plus the tiny details that instantly tell you whether a fair is going to feel chill or chaotic.
The conversation goes straight to the real main event: county fair food. We argue the case for fresh lemonade as the perfect fair companion, why giant turkey legs feel like a rite of passage, and why funnel cake still wins on pure comfort. Then we get into candy apples versus caramel apples and the funniest truth about fair snacks: the “healthiest” item on the grounds is usually an apple that’s been turned into a sugar-and-caramel delivery system.
From there, we zoom out to county fair entertainment and what keeps people coming back, from cover bands and local performers to animal shows, 4-H displays, tractor pulls, and demolition derby nights. We also talk strategy: daytime fairs versus evening fairs, how the crowd shifts when teens show up, and why school calendars in fair towns sometimes bend around fair week to keep families involved.
Finally, we say out loud what everyone thinks: fair prices can feel wild. Between parking, tickets, wristbands, and games, it’s easy for families to get priced out, even when they want to support local vendors. If you’ve ever lost money to the ring toss or the spinning ladder game, you’ll feel seen. Subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review with your go-to fair food and the most rigged game you’ve ever played.

WWE Legends And Monday Night Wars Memories
Season 6, Episode 309
Show notes
One question can instantly time-travel any wrestling fan: WWF or WCW? We sit down with a full panel and let the memories fly, from Hulk Hogan’s era-defining run to Stone Cold’s anti-hero peak, Rey Mysterio’s impossible longevity, and the never-ending debate about The Rock’s place in wrestling history. If you grew up on the Attitude Era, Nitro, SmackDown, or late-night highlight replays, the energy here feels like arguing with your friends during a commercial break.
We also get into the part of pro wrestling that outsiders miss: the athleticism. Yes, it’s scripted entertainment, but the physical work is real. We compare WWE-style training and performance to traditional pro sports, talk about the grind of a year-round schedule, and why timing and conditioning matter as much as raw strength. Along the way we rank the match types that define the spectacle, including ladder matches, TLC chaos, steel cages, and the Royal Rumble as the ultimate “anything can happen” format.
Then we go full fan mode: Mount Rushmore picks, the wrestling moves we tried as kids, live event stories, and the fantasy-booking closer that always sparks an argument Goldberg vs Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hit play, share it with the wrestling friend who never backs down, and then subscribe, rate, and review so we can keep these debates going. Who’s on your Mount Rushmore?

Boxing Roundtable
Season 6, Episode 308
Show notes
Boxing arguments never stay polite for long, and that’s exactly what makes this roundtable so fun. We sit down and go straight from laughs to legacy: who we grew up watching, why certain fighters still feel untouchable, and how the sport shaped our idea of toughness, discipline, and greatness.
We debate favorite fighters and the greatest heavyweight of all time, with names like Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and Rocky Marciano at the center of the storm. From there, we zoom out into boxing history and the weight-class eras that made fans for life, especially the middleweights who brought speed, skill, and all-out wars. We also get into what’s changed: more divisions, fewer shared “appointment TV” moments, and the way MMA has pulled attention and athletes into a different lane.
Then we go practical. Boxing workouts come up for a reason: heavy bag rounds, shadowboxing, jump rope, footwork, stretching, and the mental grind that separates people who dabble from people who fight. We talk venues like Las Vegas and Madison Square Garden, but also the underrated factor fans feel every weekend: time zones, start times, and why being the main event matters.
We close with the modern lightning rod: Jake Paul’s boxing career. Is he a real boxer, an entertainer, a net positive for boxing’s future, or all of the above? Listen, pick a side, and then help us out: subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review. Who’s your heavyweight GOAT and why?

Long Drives, Bad Weather, And Comedy Mileage
Season 6, Episode 307
Show notes
Road trips sound romantic until you’re 18.5 hours deep, your exit disappears behind construction, and the weather turns on you. We sit down and trade the kinds of travel stories you only earn with miles: a nonstop Cincinnati to Winnipeg run, a late-night Carolina scramble with dark winding roads, Cleveland to Omaha bonding time, and the comedian truth of driving nearly 19 hours just to do 20 minutes on stage and barely break even on gas.
We also get into the moments that make a drive unforgettable for the wrong reasons: heavy rain where you can’t see the road, white-knuckle snowstorms that turn a two-hour trip into a four-and-a-half-hour crawl, and a truly wild Chicago expressway scene where a wrecked, intoxicated stranger tries to flag down cars and climb into one. Along the way, we pull out real road trip tips that matter: watch the forecast, manage fatigue, know when to stop, and don’t let “I’ll be fine” outrun common sense.
To bring it home, we compare road trip styles and habits: planning stops by mileage versus winging it, packing meals versus eating fast food, the snack strategy that keeps you sane, and why coffee, water, and bathroom breaks can quietly control your whole timeline. We even debate toll roads and how much extra time we’ll take just to avoid paying. If you’ve ever driven for love, for work, for comedy, or just for the story, you’ll feel this one. Subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review, then tell us: what’s the wildest thing that’s happened on one of your road trips?

High School Football Preview Roundtable
Season 6, Episode 306
Show notes
Friday nights are almost here, and we wanted a real high school football season preview from people who live it. I’m joined by a roundtable of coaches and media to talk through what actually shapes a season in Ohio high school football and neighboring Pennsylvania high school football: building culture, keeping kids bought in, and handling the constant pull of other sports, school, work, and distractions.
We dig into the hardest parts of coaching right now, from sports specialization and scheduling chaos to the unglamorous stuff like grades, behavior, and the word that hits hardest: apathy. You’ll also hear how coaches think about non-conference scheduling, why relationships between staffs matter, and how big programs prepare each week by delegating responsibilities so the head coach doesn’t burn out. On the media side, we highlight teams to watch across Northeast Ohio and what makes certain programs feel dangerous before the standings even start.
Then we get into the fun details that make high school football what it is: the best stadiums for atmosphere, why rivalries still matter when everyone knows each other, and whether summer all-star games are worth the time for players and coaches. We close with quick outlooks and keys to success for the season ahead, with a focus on health, development, leadership, and standards.
Subscribe to Ride Home Rants, share this with a football friend, and leave a review if you want more roundtables like this. Which program, player, or rivalry are you most excited to watch this fall?

We Argue Our Favorite Family Guy Characters And Quotes;
Season 6, Episode 305
Show notes
Family Guy has been called “too much” for more than two decades and somehow that’s part of the point. We sit down with a full panel to talk through why Seth MacFarlane’s animated chaos machine is still running after 24 years, and why the show’s brand of dark humor keeps pulling people back even when it crosses lines. If you’ve ever quoted “giggity,” replayed a cutaway in your head, or wondered how a cartoon can survive in a world that’s always ready to be outraged, you’ll feel right at home here.
We debate our favorite Griffin family characters, the supporting cast that steals scenes, and the characters we just don’t like. Along the way we get into the show’s biggest strength: nobody is off limits. Politics, religion, celebrities, tragedy, everyday awkwardness, it all ends up in the punchline, and we unpack why that “equal opportunity roasting” is a big reason the series stays culturally relevant. We also touch on the show’s history of being canceled and revived, the power of DVD sales and streaming, and why so many fans first got hooked when they were “too young to be watching.”
Then we get to the fun part: the moments that live forever. From Peter’s giant chicken fights to “Ooh piece of candy,” to the kind of cutaway gags that make you laugh even when you’ve seen them a hundred times, we trade our most memorable clips and why they still work. If you want a quick hit of nostalgia plus a real conversation about comedy, offense, and why people keep pressing play, queue this up and come laugh with us. Subscribe, share this with a friend who loves Family Guy, and leave a review then tell us: which character is your all-time favorite?

How To Shave Less And Look Sharper
Season 6, Episode 304
Show notes
Shaving can be the fastest way to look put together or the fastest way to wreck your skin. We sit down with Brandon Wiley and JJ Phillips to talk beards, bald head maintenance, and the small grooming decisions that add up to a clean lineup instead of razor bumps and irritation. From the jump we compare how much we actually hate shaving, why some of us put it off for weeks, and what it takes to keep a beard looking sharp without living in the bathroom.
We get practical about sensitive skin and product choices: aloe-based shaving creams, safety razors versus multi-blade cartridges, and why aftershave balm and lotion often beat alcohol-heavy splashes when your neck breaks out. Brandon shares what it’s like managing a shaved head in cold Erie weather, plus the routines that help him stay moisturized and consistent. JJ breaks down his barbershop approach, including hot towels, clean lines, and why trusting your barber matters when a straight razor is involved.
Then we zoom out into style and confidence. Can everyone pull off the Mr Clean bald look, or does facial hair make the whole thing work? We debate body type, fashion, and what “fits” your face, swap stories about goatees and the early-2000s chin strap era, and land on one clear takeaway: your grooming routine should match your life and your look, not someone else’s trend. If you’re into beard care, shaving tips, barbershop culture, and simple ways to level up your lineup, hit play, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave us a review.

Inside NASCAR: Heat, G-Forces, And The People Who Win Races In Nine Seconds
Season 6, Episode 303
Show notes
200 mph sounds fun until you remember it can be 140 degrees inside the car, your cool suit might fail, and you have to stay laser-focused for four straight hours with zero timeouts. That’s where our NASCAR roundtable starts: are race car drivers athletes, or is the word “athlete” getting stretched too far? I’m joined by Tony Bogan, Mike Worrell, and Dave Frank to argue it out with real examples, from heat exhaustion and mental fatigue to the steering load and G-forces that add up lap after lap.
From there we give the pit crews their flowers. If you’ve never really watched a NASCAR pit stop as a performance, you’re missing one of the wildest parts of the sport. We talk about why so many crews are built like SEC football players, how a nine-second four-tire stop can make or break a race, and why the “over the wall” athletes might be the most underrated stars in racing.
We also dig into how NASCAR safety has evolved since Dale Earnhardt Sr., what the HANS device and safer barriers changed, and why the Gen 7 car brings its own trade-offs. Then we go straight into the fan side: the pull of dirt track racing and the World of Outlaws, the return of classic venues, the road course debate, and the rules that drive us nuts, including stage cautions that drag on and whether races should sometimes end under yellow.
If you’ve got strong NASCAR opinions, you’ll fit right in. Subscribe, share this with a race fan, and leave a review, then tell us your answer: are NASCAR drivers athletes, and what’s the first rule you’d change?

Inside A Division III World Series Run At Baldwin Wallace
Season 6, Episode 302
Show notes
A baseball season can feel like a coin flip until you hear how a veteran coach prepares for the moments when the game gets weird. I sit down with Brian Harrison, the longtime head coach at Baldwin Wallace University baseball, fresh off another NCAA Division III World Series run, to talk about what actually travels in the postseason: confidence, toughness, and a team culture that holds up when the bounces stop going your way.
Brian walks me through his path from being “in the portal before it was cool” to playing independent pro ball, then jumping into coaching and grinding through the kind of early seasons that test your patience. We also dig into the college baseball landscape today, including how recruiting works when every kid has video, every inbox is flooded, and relationships still matter. If you are a player, parent, or coach trying to understand what helps a student-athlete stand out, you will get practical, real-world guidance.
We wrap with some rapid opinions and fun detours: the pitch clock (we both end up liking it), the ghost runner (we both want it gone), and Brian’s Cleveland recommendations like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, East 4th, and West Side spots. Then we hit the Fast Fitty Five, because every serious sports talk needs at least one totally unhinged question.
Subscribe, share this with a baseball friend, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What part of winning baseball do you think fans underrate most?

From Small-Town Indiana To Baldwin Wallace Football
Season 6, Episode 301
Show notes
A quarterback journey rarely goes the way you draw it up, and Andrew Zimmerman proves it. We sit down and trace his path from growing up in Chesterton, Indiana to chasing college football opportunities, choosing Baldwin Wallace University, and learning what Division III football really demands when you’re fighting for reps at the hardest position on the field.
From there, the conversation turns into the part most people never see: the grind of becoming a graduate assistant coach. Andrew breaks down how a shoulder injury reshaped his playing career, how friendships and resilience kept him in the game, and why GA life feels like drinking water through a fire hose. We get into recruiting, camp chaos, getting coached hard, and the growing role of analytics and data tracking in modern football operations. If you’re curious about coaching careers, sports management programs, or what it takes to work in college athletics, there are a lot of real details here.
Andrew also shares what it’s like to pivot into higher education as a transfer admissions counselor at Baldwin Wallace, plus some Cleveland and Lakewood favorites, Chicago sports allegiance, Notre Dame passion, and college football predictions in the NIL and transfer portal era. Tap in, share this with a friend who loves sports stories, and leave a review if you want more conversations like this.

The Mustache, The Loud Family, And The Halal Burger
Season 6, Episode 300
Show notes
You can learn a lot about someone from the way they talk about family, food, and the job they chose when nobody was watching. I’m joined by Dom Baglier, an admissions counselor at Baldwin Wallace University, and we start where every serious life conversation should start: mustache loyalty, loud Italian households, and the kind of family stories that never die at Thanksgiving.
Then we shift into the real substance behind Dom’s work in higher education. He breaks down what college admissions counseling actually looks like, from covering a huge recruitment territory to reading applications, answering emails from high school sophomores, and walking families through financial aid questions without making them feel lost. Dom also shares why he left staffing and recruiting, what “purpose” means to him now, and how being a first generation college student shapes the way he shows up for students who need a guide, not a sales pitch.
We also hit soccer, travel, injuries, and the moment your body starts sending those “check engine” signals, plus a Cleveland love letter with an East Side vs West Side vote and a couple must try Cleveland restaurant recommendations. If you care about career clarity, the college search process, or just want a funny, honest conversation with real Northeast Ohio flavor, this one delivers.
