THIS WEEK’S RIVER CRUISE NEWS
Recent rainfall is helping the Rhine and Danube, but improving water levels do not mean every sailing is back to its original itinerary. We start with the low-water update and what travelers should keep watching before Christmas market season.
Then we head to France for Tauck’s 2028 Rhône itineraries, including a five-night cruise and a longer journey combining Barcelona, Burgundy, and the Rhône.
In Egypt, Viking’s 19-day Grand Nile Journey pairs time in Cairo with a 14-night cruise. I share why a longer itinerary interests me after my own Uniworld Nile cruise.
We also explore Australian Star, a 38-passenger paddlesteamer offering three-, four-, and seven-night cruises on Australia’s Murray River. Think regional wine, riverside experiences, and another way to build a bigger Australian vacation.
Finally, we talk about making your river cruise a longer, more personal trip with time before or after your sailing. Salzburg before the Danube? Prague afterward? Your vacation can go well beyond the cruise itinerary.

Uniworld River Cruises Review: Is This Luxury Cruise Line Worth It?
What makes Uniworld different from other luxury river cruise lines, and is it worth the higher price?
In this episode of River Cruising Masterclass, Sydney takes a closer look at Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, a luxury cruise line known for its elaborate ship designs, destination-focused experiences, and nearly all-inclusive approach to river cruising.
From the grand interiors of the S.S. Maria Theresa to my personal experience sailing the Nile in Egypt, we're talking about what makes Uniworld unique and where I think the cruise line could still improve.
We'll cover what's actually included in your fare, which excursions cost extra, suite butler service, dining, and how Uniworld compares to Viking, AmaWaterways, and Riverside Luxury Cruises.
We'll also explore Uniworld's Generations Collection for families, river cruises in Europe, Egypt, India, Peru, and Southeast Asia, plus new ships, Christmas market cruises, and unique rail-and-cruise journeys.
And because not every luxury cruise line is right for every traveler, I'll share who I think will love Uniworld, who might prefer another brand, and why I place Uniworld in my luxury category rather than ultra-luxury.
If you're considering a Uniworld river cruise or trying to decide which river cruise line fits your travel style, this episode will help you understand what you're actually paying for.

Lost Luggage, Less Panic: Why I Include Blue Ribbon Bags for My Clients
Show notes
Few travel moments are more stressful than landing at your destination, waiting at baggage claim, and realizing your suitcase did not make it with you.
In this episode, Sydney shares the real story that changed how she supports her travelers when luggage goes missing. After clients had delayed bags while moving around Ireland, she spent hours on the phone trying to track down updates, communicate changing hotel locations, and help their luggage catch up with their itinerary.
That experience made one thing very clear: travelers need a better system when bags are delayed.
Enter Blue Ribbon Bags.
Sydney explains what Blue Ribbon Bags is, how it helps track and expedite delayed luggage, and why every client traveling with The Poodle Booked It now receives this service. You’ll learn how it adds an extra layer of support when a checked bag does not arrive, especially on trips where you are not staying in one place.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
• What Blue Ribbon Bags is and how it supports travelers with delayed luggage
• Why you still need to file a delayed baggage report with the airline before leaving the airport
• How baggage updates can help reduce stress when your suitcase is missing
• Why this service is especially helpful for river cruises, Europe itineraries, safaris, Alaska trips, and multi-stop vacations
• How Blue Ribbon Bags can help update delivery details when your itinerary keeps moving
• Why delayed luggage is not just inconvenient when you are changing hotels, cities, ships, or countries
• How Sydney uses this as one more example of “The Booking is just the beginning”Blue Ribbon Bags does not replace travel insurance, and it cannot prevent an airline from mishandling a bag. But it can create a stronger support system when luggage delays happen.
Because when your suitcase does not arrive, you should not have to figure it all out alone.
And when you book with The Poodle Booked It, you do not.

We’ll also look at how other major river cruise lines like Viking, AmaWaterways, Tauck, and Scenic are responding (or not responding), and what that means for your future trips.
This is a quick, no-fluff update to help you understand what’s really going on behind the scenes — and how it could affect your travel planning moving forward.
