Rotgrind - Narrative Declaration

Six strangers. One Tyrant's Guild cell. Jailer Homel offers a multi-year rot or a pit fight against the Guild's aspirants. They punch their way free, take a shady inspection job at a condemned hanging apartment, and drop straight through the floor into something the city buried on purpose.

Bruised, stranded, and one guide short, the party wakes in the temple that swallowed them. Rotten catwalks, a storeroom of cursed helmets, and a swarm of helmet-crabs — one of which Rahua names Jeremy and takes home. Nobody falls to their death. That counts as a win down here.

A rune-puzzle that pays in frostbite and electrical burns. A ring of desiccated monks tending an eternal brazier. Visions that rearrange Tanhauser and Rahua from the inside out. Whatever's guarding the flame hasn't moved in a long time, and it's starting to notice.

Pig-spider corpses stuffed into the walls. Spider-fluid surgery on Tanhauser. Then Blotus — an emaciated halfling who sells contraband from nowhere and talks mostly to his cage of flies. New guns, a new crossbow, a shakedown at the architect's guild, and one heckling saucer-fey waiting outside the Cackling Jackass.

Mr. Allort is a simulacrum. The alchemist upstairs is Dr. Crim, and her homunculus is named Glub Talk. The gargoyle scholar they've been hunting has been roosting here the whole time. Downstairs, Homel tips Baldrick that Martinet Cardoza has gone strange — just as a Guild patrol closes the block.

One assassinated martinet. One bribed caravan. The party vanishes into the Swamps of the Solitude, pinning revolutionary posters on every signpost they pass — until a fog rolls in stinking of wet fur, and six dank bears come through the mist. Baldrick meets a halfling named Picturn Squelchfoot. Everything gets worse from there.

Thousand-year-old masterwork debris litters the swamp, leading somewhere no one wanted to go. An osseogrove — bone-rooted, red-leaved, patient — crits Oren for thirty-eight and starts squeezing. Past it: a silver cube half-buried in the mud, a Perfectite siege tower from the Fundamental Battlefield, leaking a floating particulum looking for orders.

The cube is fifteen hundred years old and the towers used to fly. Tannhauser nails a dead tyrant's mask-essence to his armor and becomes a permanent glow-in-the-dark liability. At the perimeter, anarchite elementals float inside perfectite shells — and Rahua, offended on behalf of his imprisoned kin, charges one alone to duel for honor.

Second floor of the cube: blood-soaked testing rooms, an alchemist's notes left mid-experiment, decahedrons that shoot lightning through the walls. Picturn gets his feelings hurt. A glowing chest waits at the bottom of a murky pit, and Baldrick rigs a pulley off a table because nobody brought proper anchors.

An acid lake. A ruined church. Beach umbrellas sized for fey. The party turns a wraith-haunted hazard zone into a spa day — bottled corrosive as souvenirs, candied bugs for everyone, Picturn drafted as pool boy. A psychometric feather reveals saucer fey stole a ring and watched a man dissolve. Rahua ends the day clubbing Oren over a foot massage.
