Novak by miles, Sale cashes in, Q-School, Sergio's return, Bryson's LIV commitment, Abu Dhabi on alert, Mexico take two
Show notes
We're back with another regular Monday episode but if you missed last week's interview with rising star Sandy Scott, be sure to find that on our feed. Onto this week and we begin with reflections on Andrew Novak's runaway Mexico victory and how players like him might find it harder to quietly rack up PGA Tour titles these days. After that we go through the 15 new HotelPlanner Tour graduates to pick out those we expect to shine on the DP World Tour (while taking the chance to hone our Dutch accent skills) and reflect on a near-miss for Sam's 300/1 newsletter pick on the LET, plus the pathway (or lack thereof) from there to the LPGA Tour. The news is LIV-dominated again as we unpick Sergio Garcia's return statement and Bryson DeChambeau's podcast remarks, before we get to a busier week in golf albeit one played under a cloud in Abu Dhabi. There's talk of Q-School, more Mexico, a Forgotten Golfer and, finally, a pretty poor attempt at Highest Bidder...

We hear about the skills he's crafted on the Korn Ferry Tour including an ability to keep pace in low-scoring tournaments, and why every event he'll play next year carries meaning. There's talk of his home course, Nairn, and an upcoming trip Down Under, and plenty more besides that packed into 45 minutes.

Salvation for Katsuragawa and Crocker, Power's near-miss, LIV Golf enters vital week, Grand Final, Q-School
Show notes
The end of the DP World Tour regular season threw up some major drama as two players salvaged full status for 2027, including the winner of the Genesis Championship. Sean Crocker was the other and we talk about how he embodies the reality of tour golf, while discussing what his back-nine 29 means for Eddie Pepperell. After a look at the other movers it's time for the latest LIV chat including player exits and unknown commitments, before we move on to a busy week in golf which includes the Mexico Open, the HotelPlanner Tour Grand Final, Q-School and the Asia-Pacific Amateur. Forgotten Golfer is back, too, and there's a topical edition of Highest Bidder.

Super Chacarra wins again, McIlroy vs Kisner, LIV contract latest, Race to Dubai, CH3, Luiten, Bermuda, Korea
Show notes
This week's episode begins with yet more praise for Eugenio Chacarra, who won the Delhi Championship to take the lead in the Race to Dubai. As well as his prospects of winning it, we also consider the battle for status which heads to the Korea Championship this week and reveal why the man on the bubble has decided not to play. There's more from LIV Golf's ongoing issues including confirmation that one veteran is leaving to pursue DP World Tour opportunities, but should he have them? Fire-breathing Joost Luiten doesn't think so and that too comes up, along with Kisner vs McIlroy, Highest Bidder, and the world of golf this week.

Wins for Forrest and Brennan, DP World Tour strikes potentially fatal LIV blow, Rahm confirms departure
Show notes
Sliced is a little later than usual this week as we reflect on wins for Grant Forrest and Michael Brennan, and what went wrong for the likes of Angel Ayora and Jacob Skov Olesen. Then it's on to an evolving LIV Golf situation as Jon Rahm confirms his departure and the DP World Tour jumps at the opportunity to apply more pressure with the player commitment deadline fast approaching. We go from that to the latest Race to Dubai standings with two events remaining, starting with the DP World India Championship at Delhi this week. There's more from around the world of golf, followed by an AI-assisted Highest Bidder.

Gold for Kim, status for Meronk, silverware for Smotherman, latest LIV news, Mickelson, Open de Espana
Show notes
It's a busy Sliced episode this week as along with the Dunhill Links and a PGA Tour event in Utah, we had the Asian Games to talk about, where Tom Kim produced a display of guts and class to win a significant gold medal. There's also the Korn Ferry Tour, where Sam's favourite Scotsman landed a double which has him in line for some significant opportunities next year, while Ben has a theory relating to the winner of the latest HotelPlanner Tour event. The news is dominated by LIV again, with key player non-committal on 2.0, another seeking clarity, and Phil Mickelson also making an appearance. Once through all that and a Forgotten Golfer we'd definitely forgotten about, we talk Open de Espana and Baycurrent Classic before signing off as we always do...

Fitz rules in France, Internationals fall short, data, captains, Presidents Cup future, Reed vs Rory, Dunhill Links
Show notes
We overcome the disappointment of Sunday's Presidents Cup finish to discuss what went wrong for the Internationals, where we are with the event as a whole, the two captains, data vs results, and more, but only after talking through Matt Fitzpatrick's fourth win of the year in the Open de France. Also on the agenda are some coy comments from Cam Smith regarding LIV's future, some injury news, the Asian Games, and a Forgotten Golfer of the Week who forgot he retired. We run through the Race to Dubai and how things are looking for 2027, then there's a look at the Dunhill Links and the PGA Tour event in Utah, before a Highest Bidder right in Sam's wheelhouse.

Wentworth recap, new Scottish star, DPWT schedule, PGA Tour 2028, Tosti's temper, back to Le Golf National, Presidents Cup
Show notes
It was a breathtaking finish to the BMW PGA Championship and that's where we begin our latest episode, dissecting Manuel Elvira's shocking mistake, JJ Spaun's poise under the gun, the putts that separated him from Rory McIlroy, and Aaron Rai's 18th-hole decision. There's a brief word on both the PGA Tour event and a new winner from Denmark, and a bit more on one from Scotland who Sam has been following closely. We cover Tosti's tantrum and get into the details of PGA Tour plans for 2028, and then it's on to a welcome return to Le Golf National, plus our assessment of what looks on paper to be a one-sided Presidents Cup.

We also discuss some of the news that has broken this week including the return of the Hong Kong Open and concerns over the upcoming Middle East events after Matt Fitzpatrick and Robert MacIntyre both expressed security concerns. Lowry by 11, Europe win Solheim Cup, Ryder Cup scouting trip, LIV on thin ice, Wentworth, PGA Tour
Show notes
It was another glorious weekend of golf in Europe and two dream results, as Shane Lowry romped to his second Irish Open title and Europe won a thrilling Solheim Cup. We're on hand to pick apart both storylines including Lowry's comments on Saturday and how Europe made the USA pay for early celebrations. After that the news segment includes some fighting which could even have Ryder Cup implications ahead of an upcoming scouting mission, before we get into the LIV bankruptcy filing and some vital details which suggest the future '2.0' version may struggle to make it past mid-October. After Forgotten Golfer we get to the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, the jewel in the crown for the DP World Tour, there's a word too on the new PGA Tour event, and a disappointing combined effort in Highest Bidder.

Three for Thriston in Crans, Walker Cup fightback for the ages, LIV 2.0, Irish Open, Solheim Cup, oh Schmid
Show notes
We split roles at the weekend with Sam focusing on the European Masters and Ben the Walker Cup, so both are covered in detail to begin today's show. Sam talks about how Thriston Lawrence won his third Crans title in five years after Paul Casey's late mishap, while Ben runs through an all-time GB&I comeback after some premature USA celebrations in the Walker Cup. We then get to the latest news including some interesting LIV 2.0 updates plus an unfortunate injury for a 2026 major contender, and speaking of injury that's again a bit of a theme in Forgotten Golfer. After that it's Irish Open and Solheim Cup chat before Sam discovers a treasure trove of Highest Bidder topics...

Dean, Scheffler, new Tour Championship format, Good Good debacle, Presidents Cup, Crans
Show notes
It was another win for the podcast (sort of) as Joe Dean, one of those we spoke to prior to the British Masters, only went and won the thing. We begin with that plus notes on some contenders at the Belfry, before paying tribute to Scottie Scheffler's tour de force at East Lake where Viktor Hovland came up short. In the latest news recap we talk about Good Good's bad bad week, some updates for both the men's and women's TGL, and where we are with LIV Golf after job losses and reports of an imminent bankruptcy fiilng. The new format for the Tour Championship gets the thumbs up, but it would be fair to say we were less sure of just why one Presidents Cup vice captain got the nod. There's a bit more Presidents Cup talk before we press ahead with a preview of the European Masters at the stunning Crans-sur-Sierre, the Rosa Challenge, and the Walker Cup.

BONUS EPISODE: Sliced is back at the Belfry for the British Masters
Show notes
For the second year running, we met up at the Belfry during British Masters week to try to bring our listeners behind the ropes on the DP World Tour. In this episode you'll hear us caddie for two European golfers and then find out if we were more wowed by Robert Rock's presence or Angel Ayora's swing. There's insight from Joe Dean on what it's like not knowing if you're going to earn any money, before his compatriot Matthew Jordan explains how his form has turned and what he's looking forward to in the coming months. We spoke to Daniel Hillier and found out how he followed Ryan Fox's Open win close up, then grabbed Richard Mansell in the car park, before signing off with our takeaways.

Great Scott, killer Clark, Bryson's Sun City boost, LIV latest, British Masters, FedEx finale
Show notes
We're back, recording on the day of release, for our first standard episode in a little while as we begin a massive run of DP World Tour golf. First though we reflect on the Nexo Championship and a long overdue, much deserved win for Scott Jamieson, and the latest victory in a career season for Player of the Year candidate, Wyndham Clark. After that there's plenty of LIV-related news to get through including some fun and games from wantaway Tyrrell Hatton and a questionable new tagline, while we also have a positive update from an absent DP World Tour player. Speaking of which, this week's Forgotten Golfer is a former winner of the British Masters and that takes us into this week's tournament at the Belfry, which we're visiting ourselves on Tuesday. There's the small matter of the Tour Championship and plenty more in a packed episode that we hope you enjoy.

Shining US stars, Presidents Cup picks, Race to Dubai predictions, McIlroy's 2027 ambitions, Bryson's bluster
Show notes
After a couple of bonus-style episode to fill the summer holiday gap, today's Sliced looks a bit more like our normal Monday episodes, but as it was pre-recorded you'll have to do without recaps of the weekend golf in Denmark, Memphis, in the US Amateur, on the LET and LPGA, and elsewhere. Still, there's much to get through as we catch up on a run of potential superstar champions on the PGA Tour and try to work out which if any will make the Presidents Cup, where the US picture is complicated. We talk about a close battle for Solheim Cup qualification and why one side should be favoured for that, and we think about Rory McIlroy's ambitions for 2027 and where the Ryder Cup sits. There's time to bring you up to date on LIV (albeit this was recorded before their Team Championship was cancelled, news that had been expected) and in particular, Bryson DeChambeau's claim that every single golf fan wants him back on the PGA Tour. Is that true? We have our say before a spin through another busy week in the world of golf, plus there's a tribute from Sam in our forgotten golfer of the week slot.

Those dreams include majors, the PGA Tour and the Ryder Cup, all of which are covered, while we learn how his time at Oklahoma State turned him into a fast player. He talks us through this year's highlights, what's to come, and much more.

Ranking the top 20 courses on the DP World Tour, including Valderrama, Wentworth, and some Aussie gems
Show notes
We're taking a summer holiday from the regular shows but fear not, there's plenty to fill the void. First up, in a format familiar to our subscribers, we're ranking the top 20 (or is it 21?) courses on the DP World Tour. How high up does Valderrama manage to sneak? Does DLF feature? Which Middle East venue do we consider best? What is it that earned one South African course a high ranking? And which two courses could be in here on backdrop alone? Listen, tell us your favourites, where we went wrong, which we omitted, and feel free to send ideas for similar Top 20 episodes.

Show notes
The PGA Tour has a new star and we're on hand to praise Jackson Koivun's dominant breakthrough win, and ask what he has to do now to be on the US Presidents Cup side. We also discuss Scottie Scheffler after yet another runner-up finish, an overdue LPGA Tour winner and more of last week's action, before more Presidents Cup chat with a state-of-play for the International side. After that our news section is dominated by LIV Golf, but for how much longer after another massive blow? Open recap, fantastic Fox, Young heartache, Bryson controversy, McIlroy, Fleetwood, Birkdale
Show notes
The latest episode of Sliced is largely a recap of an incredible Open Championship won in style by our former guest, Ryan Fox. We pay tribute to his mindset, pace of play and clutch finish, while analysing where it went wrong for Tommy Fleetwood, Sam Burns, and runner-up Scottie Scheffler. We've got the Bryson DeChambeau rules controversy covered too along with Rory McIlroy's remarks, and there's time for a discussion as to how Birkdale played and was set up. After that it's to our regular features: a forgotten golfer from Finland, a spin through this week's events including a 'major', and a tough Highest Bidder from a friend of the show. When you're done, remember you can hear Ryan Fox talk about his dream of becoming a major champion in our bonus interview from this time last year. Congratulations, Foxy!
